No. Different people care about different things. There's nothing at all wrong with caring more about your personal life or your career than your family. I’m not an Angels fan, but Rendon is doing his teammates and their fan base a great disservice. It’s no wonder Shohei fled. While we’re at it, Art Moreno needs to sell the team. The Angels historically have a really poor record of signing free agents that drag the team down. They need a new management team.
I would guess a lot of pro athletes think like Rendon, they just don't say it out loud. I don't have a problem with what he said, but I do wonder if he doesn't give it his all when he's coming back from injury?
Rendón admitted when he was with WAS that baseball is boring and didn’t like it. This is why LAD didn’t sign him in FA. They knew his makeup and passed. LAA was foolish in signing him off the WS high and are now paying the price. This is not on Rendon. He’s been consistent on his thoughts on baseball. LAA did not read the tea leaves.
anthony doesn't owe baseball squat after sparking that majestic comeback for the nats in that 2019 nlds game #5 super upset vs. the dodgers at chavez ravine. we will take that to our graves
Imagine Trout convinces Artie to go after a Blake Snell, you begin negotiating and Rendon comes out and says it’s just a job. What elite pitcher wants to hear that fro your third baseman…..ugh
I find it interesting how people are mad at Rendon and not the Angels organization for making their players feel this way. There’s a reason why Ohtani left. Pretty sure Trout feels the same, but he doesn’t have the balls the say it.
consistent with what he said in 2022 "I got nothing left to prove" to Angels fans. Bat is limp, defense among the worst in the league. The injuries. And the attitude. His comments should put him in the top-10 list of worst teammates and locker room cancers.
Freddie Freeman’s son is sick so he went home for a few days to be with him because family comes first. Short of an emergency Freddie will try to kick your butt because he is also committed to being the best player he can be because he agreed to do just that and because he’s rich he can spend all winter hanging out with his family. If Rendon was playing well these comments wouldn’t be a big deal. It’s an odd comment for someone to say who had played so bad and has been such a bad contract.
In a "Job" you work 200 days and miss 346, you are fired from your "Job"..and he had no problem saying this nonsense out loud. He will be home by July with a "Job" that pays him $38 Mil this year..he is delusional..and he compares himself to Bonds..?
The Angels are a joke of franchise, but not just because of Rendon. How do you let Shohei walk for nothing even after he presented them with the Dodgers offer and they declined to match?
go look at 2023 fielding stats for 3rd basemen. Rafael Devers led the league in errors at 3rd base with 19 in 370 chances. If Rendon had 370 chances, he would have made 27 errors at the rate he was going. The guy completely let go of himself. Rendon is not the face of baseball, but rather the face of "quiet quitting"
You guys have it all wrong. Anthony Rendon is just taking advantage of the 'Work From Home" program that Justin Upton founded during his time w/the Angels. walk away and lose the remaining amount on your contract. That what a job is. Walk away and let someone else do it.
Baseball doesn’t need Anthony Rendon. Please leave the game.
“Tony Two-bags” of money. 😂
Family and faith come first but he is the top .01 percent of dream jobs. You go all in.
Rendon never said he wasn't going to try hard; he said his faith and family come first. He then went on to say baseball was a priority. If you have a hard time with him choosing family and faith over baseball, then you are wrong. Anyone who chooses a career over their faith or family is lost...
No. Different people care about different things. There's nothing at all wrong with caring more about your personal life or your career than your family. I choose to not have a family and I don't go to church. Mr. Rendon chooses his way of living, I choose mine, you choose yours. As long as you're not bothering anyone you're free to live how you want.
You didn't read my comment correctly. I said if you have a problem with RENDON choosing his family and faith over career then you have a problem. Obviously if you don't have faith and you don't have a family, that's different. But, if you do have a family or you do have faith, and you choose your career over them, then it's a problem. I never said it's wrong to not have a family.
@@jacobwright2168 If someone has a family and faith and still cares more about their career why is that a "problem?" You may not be able to wrap your head but other human beings can function however they choose even if it doesn't meet your personal approval.
@@nickbarcheck1019You are correct, sir. I can't. I can't wrap my head around someone choosing a job over their wife or son.
@@jacobwright2168 I'm going to be brutally honest here. I can. Aa someone with no interest in relationships, marriage, or children, I totally get that mindset. I know alot of men who didn't want that life of being Mr. Husband and Mr. Dad and they were were forced into it by societal and family pressure and they are miserable. I feel bad for them. I understand it.
he says his family is a top priority which is understandable, but how is playing baseball the job you chose in which you FEED your family also not a top priority then lmao
I really think he’s just trolling all of us at this point.
Rendon will turn it around this season.
I've lost all respect for Rendon. Disappointing and I'm not even an Angels fan. He's going to put at risk future guaranteed contracts for future players.
he needs to get beamed
He should have not said that even he thought. For everyone family is priority and their work is also related to family’s finance.
Rendon has not social skills.I don’t want to be around him.
Makes me even more pissed off this guy won a World Series. He probably doesn’t even care about that and was upset they had to keep playing.
Is it really that hard to believe that a guy would rather be at home in sweatpants than going into work?
Why doesn’t he just retire? That is the $245M question. He is living the life of privilege, and equates it to some 9-5 job paying minimum wage.
Anthony Rendon, at this point, should be referred to as "RenDoran". At least Doran got right enough to play care once Jake Taylor called him out.
LAA did not read the tea leaves.
anthony doesn't owe baseball squat after sparking that majestic comeback for the nats in that 2019 nlds game #5 super upset vs. the dodgers at chavez ravine. we will take that to our graves
it sounds like he's struggling to play. Usually I say no chance but I think there's a buyout deal that could happen here
That year Rendon was a free agent, the Dodgers were going hard after him. I'm sure they are glad he didn't sign with them.
Rendon is a chump. Millions of us, who were not good enough or didn't get the right opportunity, would give anything to be in the MLB.
Think about Trout. He's been putting up with so much nonsense in LA. He just wants to win. But he's stuck with the Uptons and Rendons of the world.
@MGAF688 yep, I was thinking about that. Also, think about how opposite Ohani is. Did you see that video where Rendon was trying to dap Ohtani?
Imagine Trout convinces Artie to go after a Blake Snell, you begin negotiating and Rendon comes out and says it’s just a job. What elite pitcher wants to hear that fro your third baseman…..ugh
He owes the angels team and fanbase more
Thanks god...he plays for Angels...stay there bro😊
He’s the Ben Simmons of baseball
I get not everyone loves the game as much as the rest of us but he comes across like a real clown.
I'm just here so I don't get fined!
Rendon is a high caliber player but on the Angels he was overshadowed.
Listen I don’t think Rendon owes baseball more but fuck I think he owes himself, his teammates, and the fans more
Nobody owes anyone anything.
Someone in the clubhouse needs to check this guy. Does trout have a pair? 🥜
How do you let Shohei walk for nothing even after he presented them with the Dodgers offer and they declined to match?
a r t e / m o r e n o
go look at 2023 fielding stats for 3rd basemen. Rafael Devers led the league in errors at 3rd base with 19 in 370 chances. If Rendon had 370 chances, he would have made 27 errors at the rate he was going. The guy completely let go of himself. Rendon is not the face of baseball, but rather the face of "quiet quitting"
he's checked out
You guys have it all wrong. Anthony Rendon is just taking advantage of the 'Work From Home" program that Justin Upton founded during his time w/the Angels. Justin Upton is the former CEO & spokesman of the program. Upton tried to recruit Albert Pujols during his time w/ the Angels, but he declined & opted to hit inning ending double plays for millions of dollars.
What did Moose say?
Wasn't his heart questioned going into the draft?
I don’t care what it would cost me he’s cut.
So glad the Dodgers "couldn't" sign him a few years back.
