Here's the true deal . If it was a service that would provide large profits to programs and hospitals to provide care ; people would be getting what they need. But the way it's set up now everyone loses . The mentally ill , innocent people who get hurt , the amount of time and resources spent on trying to get a mental I'll person someplace safe due to a mental health crisis . If a person is a danger to themselves ( trying to commit suicide ) or a danger to others they are supposed to be put on a mandatory 72 hour hold . I have had the unfortunate moment of being forced in a 72 hour hold due to extreme depression . This was about 10 years ago . And they kept me locked up at the psych ward for a week but never once had me meet with a therapist either. Basically was held against my will ; had another patient SA me my fist night in the ward . Tried reporting it and received threats from the doctor in charge that day that if I wanted to report it etc she would make sure every doctor there put seperate 72 hour holds on me . I tried suing but Legacy is a HUGE hospital and no lawyer wanted to take my case unless I have video proof of the SA while there . I could not obtain. But the hospital did have a meeting with me about the event after discharge . There were about 3 higher ups from that ward present and basically they apologized and said it came down to lack of finances that they can't provide true care and safety to patients in their ward it promised to work on the issue .... problem is so much bigger than this story is able to provide . It's simply so far from being acceptable it's not even funny .......
