    Wow, some really great shots of the Pathy here! It looks great! Love seeing it sliding around in the snow. However, it's disappointing that you pointed out two minute areas that are using hard plastics, in areas that that's actually common for any car. The interior is actually very high quality and has a nice use of materials. The majority of the dash is leather wrapped, even on the base trim. I sat in and felt up this and a Telluride and they are pretty comparable.

    The lack of ground clearance is the most baffling weakness. 8" is the standard on most CUVs. Odd for a vehicle with a nice AWD system called the Pathfinder that is marketed as an off-roader to only get 7" of clearance. Other than that, I actually really like this new Pathfinder, and I'm not typically a Nissan person. 99% of these will be used for dropping kids off and getting groceries, but still.

    • @ALMX5DP
      @ALMX5DP 2 года назад +5

      I might agree but at the end of the day it is just a CUV which like you said will primarily be used for pavement day-to-day tasks. That and from Ryan’s prior RAV4 TRD-Offroad review, ground clearance may be there but if the all wheel drive system can’t get out of its own way it doesn’t mean much.

    I bought a 22 Pathfinder SL 4WD in late September 2021. I love it. I actually use it for Uber and Lyft, and mine has a bench in the 2nd row. Space is meh at best unless you set the 2nd row closer to the front seats. I have the Navigation system, but always just use Wazes with Android Auto. Never even once use the built in unit. Mine does great in all conditions, but I have upgraded rims and AT tires with notable snow and ice grip.

    I think the 3rd Row function is good for child seats but not very practical for carrying taller passenger (given its designed primarily for kids). The Acura mdx (base model) would be my pick over this platinum. Highlander will always be a step ahead due to its resale value in comparison. Overall, Nissan has a solid product to compete. The drive train is a winner and will def help keep them in the fight.

    Plastic: Actually I applaud Nissan for making those trim pieces and buttons matte. That way they look nice and stay nice.
    Voice commands: worked very nicely for me so far. Then again, I took the 2 minutes to check how this system works (it literally tried to tell you but you interrupted it every time)
    Lane Assist: You can adjust the sensitivity or turn it off completely if you don't want it
    Cameras: They "disappeare" because they did come on together with the sonar, hence they stop when the sonar doesn't detect anything. Hit the camera button and they will stay on.

    • @Moistnmeaty90
      @Moistnmeaty90 Год назад +2

      There isn’t an all wheel drive system made today that only works if the front slips. Nissan awd works 100% of the time from a stop. It slowly adjusts torque from 70/30 to about 90/10 and disengages the rear clutch pack once at normal highway speeds. Some falsely suggest that it’s completely front wheel drive all of the time unless one of the front wheels slip. This is 100% horseshit. The system always engages awd from a stop every time. Slip or no slip.

    I wish the off-road tests were a bit more... off-road. One wheel 1/8" above the ground isn't really showing the vehicle's capabilities. So isn't driving on a snow packed parking lot in various driving modes. It just doesn't take the vehicle to its limits. After watching this video, I really know nothing about the AWD system in this car. These reviews used to be much better with vehicles stuck in mud and snow. Those videos really showed where the limits were. I recommend watching "SUV Battle" channel. That's a real off-road test

    • @drivingsports
      @drivingsports  2 года назад +1

      I agree. We're severely limited based on snow-pack this time of year. Too much snow blocks most of the trails. We had requested the Pathfinder last fall, but Nissan took forever to send it to us. So we did the best we could with what we had. We'll likely try a proper overlanding trip with one in the summer -- if Nissan will send it again.

      That's always the problem when the vehicle is on loan to Ryan...they are Nazis when they're not the ones testing it out. More so Nissan and Toyota than other brands.

      Which is what they're going to be sold for LOL. They're far from the Pathfinder of the 80's and 90's...these are nothing more than an AWD station wagon.

    I suspect that senior level management at Nissan is, and has been, comprised of Japanese and Europeans. I cannot imagine many Americans with any kind of awareness of truck/SUV buyers, would just hand over things like: two speed transfer cases, +9.6 inches of lift, steel skid plates, crawl control, 120 volt AC outlets in the cargo area, etc. to Toyota and Stellantis on a silver platter.
    Image is everything in America. Damn shame that Nissan doesn't offer a legit SUV in the North American market.
    At the very least, offer a Pro-4x version of this mommymobile.

    Y'all car journalists kill me. Even if the interior was better made than Toyota's or Honda's you guy's would still would not agree. Every Yota that I have ever sat in feels like a Fisher price toy. Even Mazda's are built with better materials than all Japanese brands and journalists still dog them.

      I will say Mazda gets its due respect for their interiors, but it was quite disappointing that he pointed out two areas where all manufacturers use hard touch plastics and failed to mention that the interior is actually very nice. I sat in this at a recent auto show and it was very high quality along with the rest of Nissan's newer interiors. I was most surprised by the Rogues interior. They didn't skimp like they had been and even the Sentra was nice for it's class.
