'Angel' was one of the main reasons why I started writing. This show was such an influence and inspiration that I don't really know where I'd be without it.
Doyle's death hits even hard when Glenn Quinn died 3 years after.
Buffy & Angel really do still have great writing
Lindsay knew exactly what he was doing when he called himself Doyle
God I love Angel so much. I feel so sad how Angel never gets his happy ending.
Yep it's a part of his curse though for having a soul if he ever has pure happiness he'll go evil again
He may not get a happy ending but he goes out fighting and on his feet ready to go to work
In the comics (if I remember correctly) he actually became human post apocalypse. Wasn’t a bad turn 😊
I was so sad when Doyle died the first time I watched it happen.
First time?
I haven’t seen the show since it originally aired. Two things stuck with me
The opening music
And Doyles death
@@wcthesecret I've rewatched the show.
Yea and knowing how he died in real life makes it even sadder.
Doyle was awesome he's definitely one of my favorite characters of the whole entire Buffyverse, its amazing that Doyle was only around for 9 episodes but he still had a huge impact on the fan base now this is how you know you made a great character
Word. And the powers that be that he passed to Cordelia was a huge plot point basically running thru almost the entire series
@@frankbarrie6785 true , even with him not being physically there anymore Doyle's legacy continued through Cordelia the woman he loved
@@roderick8167 lol I gotta say, I'm happy I actually finally have the ability to fan out about the series with someone/people lol
@@frankbarrie6785 that's good I'm happy for you man , yeah its a great show to talk about with other fans
Doyle was amazing and a perfect introduction to the Buffyverse version of L.A. It's incredible how they managed to make you care about him and profoundly feel the loss of him in only nine episodes.
I think Doyle was the right fit for the show. I don’t think Whistler would have connected to my heartstrings as deeply. I hope you do more Buffyverse videos, especially can’t wait for your Cordy video.
I've always really liked the intro to Angel it's a real banger music is great
Yea I listen to the uncut extended version on RUclips all the freaking time, just awesome.
Love the Angel content. Hero is still soul crushing
This show is so awesome. I would love to see you make a deep dive of the entire show honestly because it doesn't get praised enough in my opinion.
Yes!!! More angel content
I was actually kind of pissed when he died. There was a definite absence that took a long time to fade. Thanks for giving the Doyle his due. 👍
Great video and tribute to Glenn Quinn. Definitely underrated, but never forgotten thanks to you vee.
I’d say dying to defeat Nazi zombies and save innocent lives is as honorable as death as you could possibly imagine. I always get so choked up when I rewatch and get to this episode
This was beautiful. I loved Doyle and everything his actor did with him. PLEASE do more Angel episodes, because they're great and your great.
It’s crazy to think he was only in 9 episodes. They did more with him, than some characters over many seasons. It felt like he was on for years, they did that much. Loved him on the show, just wish we had more
When I was 18/19 in 2003/04 and was working the overnight stock shift at a ShopRite in New Jersey I'd have a little guilty pleasure routine of coming home at 6am, making myself some breakfast and then sitting down to watch Charmed and Angel on TNT before falling asleep to recharge before my next shift. Miss those days
I was born in 2002 and (due to my mom) grew up watching shows like x-files, Buffy and subsequently Angel and I always loved Angel as a character so when watching his show I remember very little but what was going on with him in particular and I sadly only recognized Glenn Quinns character when I was in demon form. But watching these videos makes me want to go back and watch all the wat through Buffy and Angel
Yes! I need more content around these shows because they defined some parts of a generation
I do remember him from Roseanne but I also remember him on Covington Cross as middle child, "Cedric". I found him so charming in that role and was shocked at how he suppressed his natural Irish accent for most US projects. By the time he turned up on Angel, I really enjoyed the character. I was disappointed the character died so soon and worse still, Quinn dying for real just 3 years later! He could have gone on to great things if only he could have stayed clean and sober.
You should continue the worst of buffy series we still have 2 more videos to see
Buffy i can take or leave after season 4ish but i love all of angel, that opening music always gets me. Doyle was my favorite character, it still gets me going in his final episode. Whats even more so knowing that Quinn, Boreanaz and Kane were all mates helps as well. The show seems to have had a bit of a curse about it, outside of Kane and Boreanaz the rest of the actors careers have been kind of patchy, not to mention Andy Hallett passing which i was sad to hear about as well
I never wtached buffy nor angel but this bideo was pretty intriquing
I used to watch the show with my family back when I was a kid like around 6 in the morning when it was time for me to go to school when I was 8 years old 😫 good times
Angel!!!!! ❤❤❤❤
Fred is the best kind of crazy !!
My mom is a 68 year old black woman. And Angel is also her favorite show of all time, she raves about the writing on that show until this day. And like a silly son, I've never watched it...
Yaaaawy more Buffy/ Angel content ! Awesome Video ! Loved Glenn Quinn & Doyle ! ❤
Angel and Buffy will always be goated.
Doyle! I miss that dude.
I LOVE these Buffyverse vids,man!
This was about 15 years ago when I was working for Enterprise and drove out to pick up a rental customer at his house; I was making small talk with him on the way back to the branch and I found out he was a ghostwriter for a bunch of shows including Angel and Buffy. All I really remember is he said he met James Marsters at an all cast party and said he was "cool as shit" but I nerded out on that guy poor guy so much that he finally told me something like "I pitch ideas but I'm not a huge fan like you." LOL
I'm human ! on my mother side
Commenting because I can't thumbs up twice. Great stuff, Vee.
YES! More Angel videos! I just finished showing my buddy the entire series along with Buffy,
Lol I can't believe you're doing a vid on Angel, and of Doyle of all people! I'm so down for it
Bro in my head he was on there for like 2 seasons or at least the the whole first
Angel has the greatest series finale ever! I dunno about you but I always wanted to slay a dragon 😈
Woah, super trippy to see you randomly talk aboht my favorite show. Cool.
So sad the actor had to leave the show, had so much potential
I ALWAYS loved Doyle.
Never fully understood it seeing as he was in half a season.
Damn shame that Glenn Quinn died.
"Heel turn" Ok subbed
i’m guessing some of the audio was blocked during the doyle highlight reel 😭
I think Wesley is probably my favorite Angel character cause I think to even have the character arc Wesley did sums up what makes Angel so good. Consequences for characters actions and the commitment to changing the status quo. Like it's incredible going beginning of Season 3 to end of Season 4 and how much a string of good intentioned but poorly thought out decisions going as horribly wrong as they probably could just makes Wesley somebody else entirely... while feeling totally like the same character at the same time. And due to that show taking no prisoners with the consequences and status quo changes you don't know if Wesley is gonna go off the deep end or not as he drifts further and further away from who he was. God if I could watch Angel blind again I would it's so good.
I see you are a man of culture.
Do a video on terminator the sarah connor chronicles
Damn I’m a children so I pissed off… a building.
I Understand Perfectly My Favorite Show Of all time Is Worlds Wildest Police Videos after airing non-stop reruns and a brief revival on defunct cable network Spike TV one of their better shows honestly
I thought this scene was a fever dream thank you for confirming my insanity lol
Okay. So I watched this show when I was young. I thought Doyle was played by the guy who played Data on Star Trek.
Doyle was kind of the Puck to Angel's Guts.
I love this show I hope you make more angel content
Honestly I think Wesley is underrated. His arc is amazing
Doyle was a great character and is in my most watched angel episode in the dark cause the episode was apart of a Buffy angel crossover event starting of with the Buffy episode the harsh light of day Roseanne even honored the actor when the revival release by having Darlene and David son be named mark after his uncle mark a character created for the revival with his sister Harris being the only one of Darlene’s 2 children to actually come from the original run of the show as far as angel went I always thought it was the substance abuse problems that led to his early departure from the show cause Glenn was great on angel but one thing that didn’t help angel was that the wb tried to dictate things to joss especially around the budding lesbian relationship with willows and Tara in season 5 trying to tell him what he could and couldn’t do with the relationship for example so things like that made joss mad but instead of taking Buffy and angel over to upn for Buffy’s 6th season and angel’s 3rd season only buffy got taken over and a good chunk of angel’s viewership went with buffy to the upn and a lot of didn’t return to the wb for angel ultimately making season 5 the last season with a series ending that felt very rushed due to getting the notice very late in the season that it would be the last season so things like Fred becoming Illyria ultimately went nowhere cause the season arch felt like it was setting up things for the never made season 6
You should do more Buffyverse videos.
Not a lot your kind of content on the series.
I think I might be able to explain it a bit. If you listen to James Marsters talk about his time on Buffy, Joss hated how popular Spike got. Spike was never supposed to be a popular character. My guess is Joss didn't want a repeat of that with Doyle. Given what he would later do with Tara, I have no trouble believing that Joss would intentionally set up a likeable character like Doyle with the intent from day 1 to kill him off JUST to make sure noone would overshadow Angel.
I remember how sad I was to learn the actor who played Doyle died in real life. And I also find it ridiculous they thought Gunn meshed with the characters better. I loved seeing Wesley come back but I don't see why Doyle had to die too.
Boreanaz is a legend
The good fight, yeah..
😢❤
Howdy
I always figured Doyle was killed off because they wanted to bring in Wesley and would have crowded the cast by having two characters occupy a single archetype.
As much as i liked Wes i think the show would have been better with Doyle.
He would have made a great Tommy Monaghan
Doyle/Cordelia was my ship!!!
Cordelia&Willow 4eva
Spike&Angel 4eva
Faith&Buffy 4eva
Oz&Xander 4eva
Andy Hallett next?
I think Joss Whedon was the real problem behind Angel. Especially considering the fact that he fired Charisma Carpenter for getting pregnant and his behavior of harassing the actresses on Buffy as well causing problems on the Avengers movies and the one Justice League that Warner Brothers made. I think Joss Whedon might have been a genuinely unlikable guy.
I was coming here to say say that, the IP is great but Joss not so much
Vampire mentor named whistler ???😅 just like ma boi Blade
I had this foolish friend in high school who used to fight me on whether or not Doyle WAS "that guy" who helped Angel at the end of Season 2 Buffy. I tried telling him it wasn't the same guy and i couldn't believe his dumb ass got it so wrong when it had only been a year and a half since that Buffy episode. It sounds like he may have been half right 😅?
Still waiting for a video about how they butchered Cordelia’s character because Whedon had heat with Charisma Carpenter.
Didn't you post a video just like months if not a year ago?
8th
I dissagree age of ultron still better to me, but indeed he mess up justice league movie😅
Joss Whedon did not create Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
He did run the tv show... but there was a Buffy movie years before the show was ever thought of.
Which he wrote.
I feel like that comment is going to get blasted when fans read it 😆!
it only got good after they jettisoned the Buffy style of storytelling.
I do agree Angel was way superior a show than Buffy, but nah, Doyle sucked and was boring.
Angel probably didn’t like that Doyle was more popular than him
Joss whedon can do no wrong 😮 wtf
