This was hella fun to watch you 2 play against eachother, that as fan who've been watching for years now this is like a unexpected crossover event that was great
Great fight! One minor question, what was the deciding factor of Wind Rider over competitive? Since killowattrels main goal is to set up tailwind and then just attack till it dies, the tailwind would make your thunderbolts more threatening, since competitive relies heavily on your opponent to activate.
Lmao at the code RP8FAG sorry I'm a boomer who gets a kick out of that word, I mean no ill intent towards anyone just thought the code was silly.
Wolfey since u had sets for the team on showdown can you put the showdown team link in the description
Your racist you don't like non white people
These 40 minute educational excursions are everything we need. Keep up the World Champ difference!
W
Hell yeah
Ah a fellow pat mcafee fan
@@FLYkidTYLER haha yes, did I subconsciously quote him talking about Coach P's Keys? 😂
The world champ difference against Aaron is less impactful. I realized this could sound rude. Edit: just paying respects to what a great player he is
That hypnosis ending was hilarious. I’d love to see more of these fun battles between friends using nonconventional sets
From so confident to "Oh god that could happen!" REALLY quick, lol.
Always sad when the top comment talks about the end of the video :(
@@leonardschmidt8028 you realize that most people who don't want to be spoiled will wait till the end of the video until they start reading the comments right? so most people commenting either comment right when they see the video or when they've just gotten to the end so you can almost be certain people will be talking about the ending here
@@symawi312 I think they're talking about the Mobile UI and how it shows the top comment and it's hard to avoid
@@failmeep5167 its really not that hard though.
Wolfey : *Centers half his team around Choice Band Garchomp's Earthquake*
Also Wolfey : *Never clicks Earthquake in any of the 3 rounds*
And yet he won 2/3. Because while his team was also really flexible so he adapted as best as he could
That's how VGC teams go, you stack up as many positive synergies as possible and on top of it you gotta be able to make really good plays to capitalize on your opponent
And Aaron’s team had 3 Pokémon immune to ground moves and a flying Tera Gengar, he was prepared for it.
He's just like me fr fr
Bro I also built a team around that, but like the other half of the team is just so op, I dont need to use earthquake
Wolfe really said "52 speed EV because I forgor 💀"
He probably had some moment where there was some specific pokemon he was calcing to outspeed, but it didn't end up coming up and the details were lost to the haze of memory.
If u read the subtitles it said the speed evs for the world champ difference babyyyyyyyyyyyyy
@@DuskoftheTwilight Yeah that's what I figured as well, commander.
Aaron can hit 2 hypnosis’ in a row but god forbid he can’t hit a single will-o-wisp to win a tournament😂😂😂
aaron zheng clicking a 70% accurate move was mind boggling
His mindset there was he was already ahead a round that if he hits that move, he would've been in such a good spot. The risk versus reward was just too good in favour of him.
@@floofflez1134 that all makes sense. I am making a joke in reference to the time Aaron missed an 85% accurate move 5 times in a row at a major tournament. So him clicking an even less accurate move is a bold and funny move, regardless of sound strategy.
@@benrinehart7776 at the time it was 75% accurate, gamefreak buffed the accuracy cuz of arrons luck
Please do a series of these with other vgc players. I would really like to see you face off with Ray Rizzo and James before you finally take on the Agency!
@@Alex-kx6kw don’t scare him before he tries (we all know the Agency cannot be stopped)

aaron’s channel is serious a+ content for anyone who wants to learn to play vgc
Trueee. I got like 90 percent of my vgc knowledge from him alone. He fr an mvp
After game 1, I pulled up Aaron's video on the side. It's kind of cool to get both perspectives, especially when they try to predict what the other is doing. Hearing the same thing said on both sides at the same time makes it all the more entertaining.
ive been playing vgc for a long time but ill always appreciate a good diagram. i love the editing done in this video while you did your team break down. 10/10 educational and entertaining content

It brings a tear to my eye that 3 of the Pokémon on his team, Quaquaval, Kilowattrel, and Orthworm(specifically with iron D and Body press), were on my team in my first playthrough of Scarlet becoming champion with them.
The sad fact that it isn't much of an achievement to beat Geeta
@@zacmayes2802 honestly the gyms were harder than geeta imo
Wolfe giving Ceruledge speed EVs and forgetting why is so funny to me idk why 😂😂😂
Where did he get those weakness coverage images from?
The joy of seeing my boy Kilowattrel get used was unparalleled. Awesome video!
you and aaron make amazing content as a duo!
Yeah you played incredibly well here, you threw Aron off his game by showing up with pokemon and movesets he hasn't seen before. And you know generally what to expect with the pokemon he was running. And you're good at keeping track of moves and predicting teras. Overall very entertaining to watch 👏
Actually if you see the game from Aaron’s side he knows about the movesets of the worm and quaquaval, he recently just lost a game to the worm due to its ability in one of his ladder battle videos lol
@@paulr7194 I'll check out his channel then 👀
id love to see an attempt to get number one with Quaquaval on the team
god I love hearing the thought process behind making a team
Quaquaval finally receiving the recognition it deserves. great move and ability combo for singles but she struggles to dance all over vgc
I picked Quaxly and I’m glad I did, I’ve gotten multiple clean sweeps with Quaquaval, especially when you max out it’s speed boosts. I’ve even used it to counter Baxcalibur, as Quaquaval can learn misty terrain.

She. .....
Why are people freaking out over you saying she if it can be male or female LOL
Quaquaval is a absolute beast. Especially after a moxie+ aqua step set up. Ive swept with mine on many occasion
insanely high quality video. bravo you guys never miss on this channel
I’d LOVE to see weird sets between you and other VGC players more often. I remember the Sw/Sh days where y’all picked bad Pokémon for each other and had to make them work. Highly enjoyable
3:19 "Although it was painful, I started to think." Got me good there lol!
The editing in this video is top notch!! I usually can't sit thru team breakdowns but this style made it super engaging
Finally trained up my Orthworm and Kilowattrell for ranked battles, and this video drops. This is what I get for taking too long to start the game. Feelsbadman
Imagine how I feel, I only have about half the badges in the game because I’ve been too busy playing showdown in hopes of finding a team that I deem worthy enough to actually take the time to train in hopes I don’t waste time making a team that isn’t actually viable. Not to mention non of the mons currently on my playthrough team will actually be on any of my plausible competitive teams. Except for maybe skeledirge with a lot of adjustments.
Wolfey: Tera fairy is top 5 worst
Also wolfey: Proceeds to use multiple Tera fairy Pokémon
Wolfey id love if you spoke to Aaron after the battle got his thoughts on the team and if you caught him off guard or not, great video as always tho
Loved this! Seeing the team building process was incredibly interesting and I would love to see more or similar kind of content. Great work Wolf and the editor, really solid vid.
Would a normal tera sylveon using tera blast still have pixelate to make it fairy as well as having the 2x normal stab? If that were the case, both hyper voice and tera blast would do incredible power.
I don't know if it would work like that but wouldnt tera fairy still be better because you lose a little power (2x instead of 2.25) but have a way better defensive type
I think terra Fairy would be better in general cause Normal kind of makes some assumptions about when the multipliers are applied relative to Pixilate. From doing raids most people use Terra Fairy and Hyper Beam when low on time so I assume that's better than Terra Normal
Tera normal wouldn't increase its power no
@@axis8396in general" is not really going to work out for this gen of pokemon, I am afraid.
This has gotten complex enough to make a case for next to every type consideration. Its almost like there are no wrong but few right choices and many decent ones when it comes to picking tera types.
More so than in other games you need to be exactly sure what role your pokemon is going to fill in order to choose the right typing for any occasion is my take on this.
Edit: I surmise that adaptability is about the most important thing for any team comp this generation around. Having many modi operandi and the ability to adjust to odd cases will determine what team comp and singular mons come out on top.
Nope but if you tera fairy youd get the 2x boost from hyper voice and tera blast
I love the way you present the info about the team. It's very well laid out for those who would have no clue what was going on otherwise.
This content is SO engaging. I don't even play competitive VGC, i mean i know the basics but the way in which you present your ideas for the battle beforehand are super cool and makes it super interesting
Garchomp uses Earthquake
Orthworm: "I. EAT. YOUR. EARTHQUAKES. I eat it up!".
Please more exhibition sets like this. Top tier players, top tier explanations of the team, top tier matches
I love this kind of video where it’s just unedited battling combined with you explaining your thought process and giving VGC tips
I cannot overstate how much I LOVED THIS VIDEO!!!! From the team explanation to the move choice. I love it all!!
I could honestly watch Wolfey breakdown his thought process or create new teams all day.
Congrats on trending wolfe! always love these kinds of educational video's, the definitely help me understand what goes into teambuilding for VGC, and how to find supports for the pokemon that I want to run.
LOVED this video so much, the team breakdown was slick and easy to follow and the actual play was phenomenal as always!
It's crazy that you and Aaron had these videos ready to drop after the gym yesterday! (Which was a blast - hope it happens again!) This is actually a pretty cool team that I look forward to renting. Great editing, funny, and informative video as usual :D
Seeing both sides of this is great. Started following Aaron cause of you and while not as engaging, he's excellent at breaking down info quickly. And while it might have been obvious I called Tera Ground Garchomp being a threat this season.
This crossover never gets old, love these 2
I love that you tried to bring something new instead of what is strong. Much more interesting to see the minding behind your choices than just your view on the meta game at that moment
The team breakdown was fantastic. As someone who really struggles with team building sometimes, it was really nice to hear you talk through the actual ideas behind your pick, and how you got to them.
"I knew where to start, Orthoworm."
Me: Well.. hate to tell you, but Aaron already encountered a team with it and learned about its ability the hard way.
Love seeing these battles!Would’ve been cool to have you both in discord to chat a bit during the match. Or if you wanted to keep it professional during, then do a 5min wrap up call after. Another idea if cyber could send his footage and edit in some of his thoughts during the match too.
There's a lot to take in about this set. Excellent shout casting. Big highlight on the importance of information concealing on both sides
this video is really really really good!!! i think you broke down everything really well and the matches were also great to watch. felt super informative without being too pushy or anything, really nice. :)
YOOOO a Wolfey and Aaron collab is really what we needed
for sylveon, you could’ve went with tera ground so that not only will you resist poison and steel, but you can also hit them super effectively with ground type tera blast.
I like pretty much all your videos, but the ones where you actually battle are super interesting since it’s cool to actually see what goes on in a doubles match from a player’s perspective.
I love seeing your videos get better and better! This might be the best one yet.
As soon as I saw the title my immediate thought was “What did Wolfey do this time” then remembered this is just another normal upload for us. Battle was insane though
Great video, love this type of content. Would be great if you guys had a chat about the games at the end to round out the video for more insight.
Soooo entertaining and exciting!!! Two awesome creators and PokéPros! I hope the editing takes less time for these videos because I’d love to see more!
Love seeing these battles! Super hyped to see what else you do in the future!
This video just came out, but man this is scary similar to a team I'm currently working on. Sylveon and Garchomp are the two I wanted as mains and I've been debating Orthworm as well. It's the last 3 I've been unsure about. What awesome timing!
Very excited seeing Body Press Orthworm on your team, I used it in the main game to do content that I was very underleveled for with relative ease
I synched up your battle on one monitor with Aaron's on a second. Was really cool to hear what both of you were considering play-for-play and reacting at the same time. Would love to see more tandem video releases like this!
Love watching you two battle! Thank you both for the content
Love watching Aaron and yours videos!
I find it really interesting that Wolf all but threw the first game because he was basically protecting into a fact finding mission (and didn't want to reveal that much)
This video was really well done. Great match, can’t wait to see the rematch! Two thumbs up my guy
Loved being able to watch this battle from both perspectives
Wait so he built this team around the strategy of using earthquake and earthworm to heal and deal damage but doesn’t use that combo once in the video? That’s great fucking love it actually also love the cereledge pick my man
Aaron Zheng hands down got me into comp pokemon he definitely deserves a bigger following.
I loved seeing the team breakdown at the beginning. Great wideo!
Wolfey! Been following you since you won in 2016 and oh man watching your journey to this point has been so cool! The quality of video this generation is so amazing I wanna say thanks and also great job.
Definitely a world champ difference like forreal. Really love the way you breakdown the teams before or explain the effectiveness of the mocespread as well as the EV distribution. Please keep up the good work I've been back and forth with vgc since 2017 and seeing you grind this hard makes me want to compete even harder, tryna feel that world champ difference for myself. Seriously thank you dude
Damn this is gonna be a interesting matchup
oh cool to see orthworm wolfey! the team i made was similar, i was using it with usually talonflame lead for tailwind and taunt, air balloon raichu for fakeout/volt switch, and with tera ground moxie krookodile :D
I love seeing the thought process during team building
The second hypnosis connecting threw me off for a second because i forgot that there's no sleep clause in this. Great battle though Wolfey! Both you and Aaron did really well!
I really want to see Aaron's POV to see how he reacted to the team preview ^^
Video is up on his channel
Watching Wolfe slowly figure out what item and movesets Aaron is using is so cool and it's sad that most tournaments moving forward will probably just do open teamsheets to mirror the VGC rules. RIP info gathering.
yeah, would have preferred if they only showed Tera Types and not items/stats/abilities
open teamsheets is a horrible idea, why do they do this?
From spectator's perspective, open teamsheets are the most boring things ever
@@timmycorini since a person with 10 friends who can scout for opponent's sets are in a major advantage. They think that open team sheets level the playing field.
@@billcipher8645 since a person with 10 friends who can scout for opponent's sets are in a major advantage. They think that open team sheets level the playing field.
It's funny watching the team explanation in the beginning because a lot of these are pretty standard ideas (e.g. Sylveon throat spray) but I can appreciate and love the effort that goes in to making this content accessible for newer fans
100% would love to see more of these types of videos!
It's interesting seeing you talk it through because it shows off how much information you're processing to make your decision about how to respond.
I like this battling format!
But i'd really love even a very short interview afterward. I wanna hear the banter!
I am loving the increase in Wolfey videos!!!
Thank you for showing off the coolest starter, Wolfey.
The battles were super fun.
Hi Wolfe! My favorite pokemon of all time has been Slaking, but no one uses it. If you're up for the challenge, you should take it to rank 1! It's synergy with Graifarai might finally make it usable.
Love these kind of videos! Thank you for all the hard work you do! Happy early 1mil
Some thing that I would have loved to see is a discussion between the two of you to see how the mind set differed in pivotal points.
Glad to see Quaquaval get some love. Great design, good typing, solid move pool, and the Great Moxie/Aqua Step synergy. Pave must dance!
Ratio
Great design??
@@danielhicks1824 yh great design
I gave my Orthworm body press, coil, iron tail, and protect. It's a little more of an odd moveset but coil does boost accuracy for iron tail, boots defense for body press, and boosts attack for both iron tail and body press. It's honestly not a terrible counter to Flutter Mane if you play right. Orthworm and Great Tusks as a combo are actually pretty nuts. They struggle with tanking special but they actually still put in mad work.
Flutter Mane and Great Tusk aren’t allowed in doubles in game tho.
@@MayHugger oh I know I'm just saying for the future when they are allowed to be used.
Attack boost doesn't work for body press actually, it just fully uses defence instead of attack
I would LOVE more of this "building a team and battling" videos
The most iconic duo returns with some scarlet and violet battles! I'm so hype!
I cant believe that Wolfey used my single two fave Gen 9 Pokémon (Quaquaval and Kilowattrel) in a competitive team. Definitely trying something like this sometime.
This almost makes up for Leafeon…
REAL YOUTUBIST MAKE A NEW WIDEO, THANK YOU BONUSWOLFEY FOR THE OLD INTROS BACK!❤️❤️
I was watching you guys at the same time, stopping every turn to see both decitions and it was really fun!!
this video is great we need more of these matches with the best of the best where you explain how you are thinking in real time
I’m an old head from the OG, OG Pokemon games and just got back into trying to learn competitive and man is it hard to start. OG red and silver I just out leveled gym leaders to beat the game. Never did boost or set up moves and man is it hard to really learn the best possible moves now. Especially in doubles format. Singles I seemed to do fine
YES, ive been saying oorthworm is underrated for so long! Easily one of the most fun mons to use in the whole game.
Just watched both videos, good stuff. That ending was so funny xD
I really enjoy the team building explanations!
I think close combat is better on ceruledge. needs dark type coverage and it hits hard
I didn’t think Kilowattrel was bad because It has pretty good special attack and it has really good abilities being Volt Absorb and Competitive lol. I just wish it got Heat Wave for steel coverage
Im so glad you had the chance to challenge Lord Emvee, looks like this is going to be one banger of a video!
This was very entertaining and informative to watch!
