@@briankaste6931 yeah, yellow actually has some cool additions specifically for Brock. I remember as a kid being stuck on Brock forever because I tried to win with Pikachu, Rattata, pidgey/pidgeotto, butterfree and Nidoran male and female without knowing double kick was super effective against his Geodude and Onix. They also added a Mankey to route 22 (the route west of Viridian City that leads to the pokemon league) and added low kick to Mankey's learnset, it was exclusive to machop in Red and Blue. Also I think karate chop was normal in gen I for whatever reason
The reason they changed it to 12 is because you start with a Pikachu and they figured you'd need something to beat Brock, since electric moves don't work on his pokemon. This is the same reason Mankey got moved to Nidoran's route in Yellow as well.
I somehow have this strange idea for a 2 player game. Both player starts in a safari-like area, where they can freely train or catch new pokemon. In like every 15 minutes, they are forced to face each other in a match with what they have. This repeats in like several times up to how many matches they want.
There is a warcraft3 custom game called pokemon world that is this, but you only get transported at the end for final tournament. while in zones can fight if you want

That's not bad... I mean like, misty's starmie is like level 21 I think, so even if he had a level cap, a gyarados and a nidoking would be normal, because you can get gyarados at level 20, and nidoking at least at level 16...
@@hotd0gw8 No, it's not bad for this challenge specifically. But in a normal run, having a Bulbasaur with Vine Whip is typically enough because Gen 1's "good AI" will flub up so many attacks. It'll use Water Gun, Tackle, or Misty will use an XDefend instead of using Bubblebeam, her best attack.
@@georgy2596 You legit can't, unless you're the luckiest person alive (or the most patient person alive to save scum through every battle with certain moves in them). The reason why? Badge Boost activates even if your opponent debuffs you with things like Leer and Growl or Sand Attack, so if you get hit by one, the run is over.
We need a mod where if a trainer beats you they get stronger too. Like when you rematch youngster Joey or the trainer tracker in the gen 6 remakes of gen 3
We need this concept implemented in a future game! Basically you can play the game with one other person that controls all of the Trainers in the game. A better co-op than Let's Go's implementation lol. That has potential to get fun so fast haha. Especially if you do it with a friend you're super close with.
I like all of Ant's content but this was a whole paradigm shift in concepts... Kudos to atsign for doing this and the Rival Battle at the end was just mind blowing...
This turned out to be a lot harder than I expected! I thought early game would be the most difficult because of how little players have to work with, then get easier as it went as you get a team built, but as some of the "AI" opponents have better teams and movesets, those can be quite the roadblocks after all when the "AI" is significantly better.
If this was BW then cynthia would be actually impossible. Someone took her exact team (different moves) and got to top 100 smogon with that team, before garchomp got banned of course.
This would make an amazing animation- imagine Ant walking around, followed by a ghostly wolf that hides in the shadows, sneaking up behind each and every trainer that Ant comes across and possessing their body, throwing their Pokémon against the poor kid from Pallet Town, letting them go the moment that all their Pokémon have fainted and they are no longer useful in its quest.
This is the greatest concept, I would love to just have my friends play the trainer AI as I progress. Talk about a new way to experience a co-op experience.
25:35 "PIDGEY HANG ON!" He yelled, but the Mega Punch smashed its cranium. Ant wasn't looking to make friends that day, he was looking to murder an innocent bird.

You know they are a competitive player if they dont know what string shot does. You know they are a professional of the main game if they know that string shot fails if it misses.
A Nuzlocke would be so cool here lol with a level cap, but still allowing him to grind and use items obviously since a hardcore Nuzlocke would be legit impossible
First rival fight doesn't count for nuzlocke in gen 1: It's straight RNG if you win or not and the player has no control. For all intents and purposes it's a cutscene that you push buttons in.

14:09 for some reason in red/blue nidoran learns double kick at level 43, but in yellow it's level 12. Another example of Gen 1 being Gen 1
They lowered the required level in yellow so that you could actually use it for Brock's gym, since red blue you have more options
@@mortisoculi8943 holy crap gen 1 actually had some logic
@@OpIvyPunk dude your knowledge about gen1is over the top , op
The reason they changed it to 12 is because you start with a Pikachu and they figured you'd need something to beat Brock, since electric moves don't work on his pokemon. This is the same reason Mankey got moved to Nidoran's route in Yellow as well.

SmallAnt: Do I lose?
Wolfey: Nah you'll be fine.

I somehow have this strange idea for a 2 player game. Both player starts in a safari-like area, where they can freely train or catch new pokemon. In like every 15 minutes, they are forced to face each other in a match with what they have. This repeats in like several times up to how many matches they want.
There's videos on RUclips of people doing that with randomised pokemon spawns on sword and shield
There is a warcraft3 custom game called pokemon world that is this, but you only get transported at the end for final tournament. while in zones can fight if you want

Dude that was nuts. If that wasn't with two different people live on twitch I would have thought it was scripted. Absolutely insane.
This turned out to be a lot harder than I expected! I thought early game would be the most difficult because of how little players have to work with, then get easier as it went as you get a team built, but as some of the "AI" opponents have better teams and movesets, those can be quite the roadblocks after all when the "AI" is significantly better.
It's all an artificial roadblock because Ant can and does choose when and how much to train up his team. Still a cool concept, though.
