Come on you can't be so close-minded, It's simple, it's bacause guys don't menstruate, some girls have really heavy periods, they lose a lot of blood, so they can feel dizzy, some even get anemia because of it, and it's difficult to go out when you bleed that much, they can have really heavy cramps and because of the pain you can have nausea headaches, etc... It's not just a day off because you're a women, sometimes it's necessary, but statistically speaking that day is almost never use.
I think they did it for the period pains especially on the first day.. i tottaly wld want to use it
That is a dream come true, a literal heaven on earth for women who have severe cramp when their time of the month come :)

TheWolfsan - I work in an open work space and I've also worked in the traditional waterfall corporate environment you're talking about with those ugly ass cubicles. Open workspace wins hands down every single day of the week. The minute I see a company has cubicles I run from the interview. Stop being so arrogant
I'm really glad you found this job, I know it's not perfect, of course, but at least it's a place you don't dread going to and you're not surrounded by people you dislike♡ you sounded really happy while talking about it, so I'm just happy you found a place like this

It still amazes me that people wanna work overseas but not...learn the language, like can you imagine how hard and stressful that would be 😂
Amber Jones i am from Norway and the amount of people here that doesn’t want to learn a language but move to “France, or Italy” to live. But here, foreigners with perfect English get shit on because they have broken Norwegian. And that they “shouldn’t come to Norway if they aren’t going to learn the language properly” I’m finding this to be common in western countries, like America, the UK etc
Interesting. It’s cool that the company has such a chill vibe. I think even American companies here aren’t that cool! I’m glad you uploaded this video because there aren’t many experiences working in Korea that aren’t teaching. My career is teaching but I still like to hear other perspectives 😊

@@dawnbugXXX yes my job is so chill like this. Food everywhere, a gym, our own cafeteria(with chefs) and a daycare. The company I work for is in a small town in TX so I got lucky.

@@lewistran1 I'm a claims analyst. It doesnt matter what your position is just look for a good company on the fortune 400. There are many positions for only those with a hs diploma.

It's so nice you're allowed to nap at work. I'm in front of a screen 8 hours a day with my digital marketing job. When I'm really tired, I take a brief nap in the bathroom stall or use my break taking a nap in my car (the worst during cold winters and hot summers).
oyyy i hope that companies start giving their workers more breaks - its been proven that shorter work days make people more productive!!!!

I'm so happy that you found a good company to work for and that it's a good environment for you. I feel like if you find a job that let's you do what you're good at and what you enjoy, you can find joy in working. I know a lot of people go to Korea to be teachers because they've heard it's easy and then end up unhappy because it isn't what they want to do. In my case, I've wanted to be an ESL teacher since I was 8 and I taught my friends English (well, that's how it was in my mind lol). And I loved Korea when I went so all the more reason to go back. Maybe one day I will get bored of teaching but until then, I will pour my soul into helping kids.
totally! i know so many people who have no passion for teaching and it makes me so upset! I totally applaud the people whose hearts are genuinely in it, because teachers can literally change kids' lives!! Hope you're back soon!

Your video is sooo informative which I'm so thankful for. I've been wanting to get a job in SK for ages but I actually don't have any certificate in anything whatsoever which is what I'm trying to start getting next year in International Studies.
What people DO NEED TO KNOW about a Working Holiday Visa is that you can only get it once. ONCE! Which killed me to find out because shortly I'll be studying Korean is SK for four months and I wanted a visa but I also wanted to work to hopefully fuel me along to stay longer but it just isn't possible considering that I want to work and stay in other countries so a Working Holiday Visa just wasn't going to cut it for me.
Thank you for keeping your information realistic and in depth, I'm sure it'll help not only me as a reminder that I won't be able to land a job just like that, if at all, but help others who seek information just like I am.
Also your job sounds amazing and I think now I want to study that degree!

I worked at an office here in Seoul as the only foreigner, but my old company was an absolute nightmare. You were definitely lucky in having such a nice office...not that it was all rainbows and butterflies, I’m sure. I only worked at my old job for six months before I had to quit to save my mental and emotional health.

Haha is it just me or is your company like heaven?! It sounds like an amazing working place. Because a real korean korean company is far from that, because even korean have a hard time dealing with them! I had a job in one that wasnt as awesome as yours, way smaller too, but also more European thinking as the ceo had lived and worked in France. But yeah so happy that you ended up at such a positive place, and able to work there for such a long time!

I'm thankful for this video tbh... I don't think I want to work in SK anymore haha it seems so... so much. Especially for someone like me who is basically just a freelance artist with no real marketable skill. BUT I'm okay with coming to this realization. Seriously, thank you for this video~
EDIT: I guess I should also mentioned that for the longest time I had this rose-tinted view about Korea and working there one day but like, this video confirms that it's not everything that I had hoped it would be. BUT again, I'm okay with that haha Change in perspective and coming closer to reality is good I think ^^
there are also so many opportunities that exist that dont involve you living and working here full time. Doing freelance work for short stints or someday having a gallery here! It's possible, just difficult - i hope you find a way to do what you want :)

Can you give some more tips on how not to get too comfortable and not have growth? I love my job, but I feel like I’m getting too comfortable and not pushing myself. Love your q&a and toast for breakfast is the best
trust me i have the same problem, thats why i had to leave before i settled down! now i feel myself getting really comfortable here but luckily i have my boyfriend who is looking at new opportunities and that helps me be okay with change - sort of. If I was alone I'd just stay here as long as I could because im comfortable to be honest :/

But I graduated in the Graphic Design field and hope to find a creative-field job here in Seoul as well, or actually a café sounds nice too lol. But like you said, it is hard, but not possible. Monthly play day's. WHAT!!! lol Hmm, wait so how much working holidays do you have? and sick days. Also the women's day. Sooo sweet. Their Glassdoor profile goes up 5 stars.
yeah we're really lucky! We get 2 weeks to start and then an extra day and a half every year we work, but you can actually take as many as you want and rather than take it out of your salary, its just taken from your pension (since korean pensions depend on exactly how many days you worked if that makes sense~)

Yeah, basically if i want to work in the film industry or audiovisual, i need to learn korean, have a good background and meet people, i know you didn't talk about film but i think it apply in all working areas.
actually since i'm film student, it's pretty interesting the entertainment industry, i love it, the production, the marketing, i enjoy watching videos and imagine how the made it and how the marketing and production team work.
This video is exactly what I needed! I'm moving to Korea next winter, and will be looking for a job in design (mobile apps, websites). I'm ethnically half Korean, working on improving my Korean language skills, and getting ready to start the job hunting process. How do you recommend I become familiar with Seoul's design industry (i.e. who are the notable design agencies and tech startups, what local design communities exist, salary research, etc.)?

My degree isn't worldwide now/in practice so going to Asia to study it is not an option. Still thinking what to do, so frustrating haha

Thanks for sharing! I am also studying communications and media studies. My parents are stressed out, because they don’t seem to see any jobs opportunities with my degree (beside being a journalist...) I do understand them since communications is not as professionalized as for instance law or med, so I was unsure if I should change major. Your video removed a bit of my doubts.
Communications is actually a super valuable degree because its so vague and can be applied to so many things! Plus if you enjoy it, thats what matters :)
Wow your work environment sounds amazing! I'm working at a Korean company in LA and they're SUPER strict. But the last Korean company I worked at was even worse. 😥
i think newer companies are becoming a lot less horrible because so many of the CEOs have studied/worked in america and keep that culture when they start businesses in korea, but soooo many companies are still BLEH

I was interviewed by an american (a not-korean american if that makes sense haha) and he stressed that our company was really americanized so I sort of knew going into it. Also its a safer bet that the bigger the company, the more "korean" its going to be. CJ, Samsung, etc. Theyre going to have a more Korean corporate culture. Lucky me hahahah thank you!!
