You won't be connecting to hosts on any other networks, so you don't need a default gateway or DNS servers. The two PCs just need to be on the same network. They will send out an ARP to determine the MAC address for each other's IP address and then communicate with each other. There is also no need to change the host name if you just use the specified IP addresses.

The name change is for convenience only and to prevent confusion. thats because the name the computer gives itself when installing Windows is a generic name

Thanks for this video, it is very clear and easy to understand. My only issue is I can't get the "enter network credentials" to go through. I've entered the computer name followed by \ and Microsoft user account but it won't accept it. I've confirmed the password is correct and have tried vice versa both computers and still no dice. Any suggestions? Thanks!

If you have a Microsoft account on one of your PCs, then try the following on that PC:
Open Settings, then Accounts, and here open the Your data tab.
Click on "Sign in with a local account instead" and go to the local account. At the password creation step, do nothing, leave all the spaces empty and click Next.
This will not harm the PC, all data will remain unchanged and the problem will be solved.
In any case, you can always do these steps in reverse order and return the PC to the Microsoft account.

Within a home network, it is assumed that the network is safe within.
If no one else has connected to the home Wi-Fi, the router and computers within the network have not been hacked.

When I'm ready, I unplug the SSD from the "ezcoo receiver box and plug it into the Lap Top and copy the data over. It's very quick and does a good job every time. From PC1 (seedbox with regular ssd and hdd) to PC2 (with NVMe) it's fast, but still limited to read speed and write from PC1. Still, less traffic to the router and won't get hangouts from transferring now.
Only thing I would add, is to wait a little bit, and deactivate/activate the controller once, sometimes it takes a little bit to figure it all out.

After that, you can connect this drive to your desktop computer and transfer files to your computer, and this will not be difficult.

@@AnotherPlanetsHell If Windows 10 does not boot, then it is not possible to create a local network with another PC.
To transfer the necessary files from a Windows 10 PC, you can use several methods.
      1. If this happens with desktop PCs (it can also be done on laptops, but it will be more difficult), the easiest way is to remove the hard drive with Windows from the computer and connect it to a computer with Windows 11, then boot the PC with Windows 11 and transfer the necessary files from the disk to the computer with Windows 11.
      2. On a PC with Windows 11, create a bootable USB flash drive with the Hiren's BootCD PE program (this program is a portable Windows 10 with a set of applications for resuscitating computers), boot the PC with Windows 10 from this flash drive, transfer files to this USB flash drive, then transfer files from this flash drive to a PC with Windows 11.
Making such a flash drive is not at all difficult, here is a video about it:
      ruclips.net/video/7t0-5Wl1CX0/видео.html
The first part of this video shows how to do it bootable flash drive and how to reset the local account password using this flash drive, the second part of the video shows how to transfer files from a computer to this flash drive.
      3. Create a portable Windows on an external drive, boot a broken PC from portable Windows and transfer files from the PC to the external drive:

    • @dono42
      @dono42 Год назад +1

Any address is fine. Usually you should choose from a private address range, but in this case it really doesn't matter because there are only two hosts.
Ultimately, the connection will use layer 2 MAC addresses to communicate. However, networks in general also need to be routed to external networks, which is why things start with IP addresses. Once these two hosts determine that they are on the same network, they send out an ARP to determine each other's MAC address to directly communicate with each other.
