It seems car thieves love the danger of possibly being caught because Landrover is number one and they are guaranteed to break down

You can turn off the keyless entry feature on LR (it’s a bit of a gimmick anyway if you ask me) which stops the key “transmitting” meaning you need the actual key itself to open and start the car, simple easy step which will stop anyone cloning the keys signal.

I turn the keyless signal off on my car every night, simple job, and this can be checked its working by trying to gain entry, that said the key’s also go to sleep when you put them down but I’m yet to find out how you can test this without your local villain coming around to see if he can relay the signal.

Canbus Attacks are now one of the biggest problems, LR and Toyota/Lexus are now both in the top ten most stolen cars in the UK, One Lexus RX was stolen in under 45 seconds from walking up to it to driving it away.

I've actually had one of those boxes (the exact one in your link) for just under 2 years. They work 100%. You can put your keys in the box and hold the box next to the car and press the unlock button on the car's door handle and it will not open. One tip though; pull the latching catch off as after a while you won't bother using it and then it just serves to prop open the lid.

The Mercedes Me app has an option to disable the electronic key. Owners should just disable it every time they lock their car. Then even if someone steals the electronic code, the car wont unlock until the key is activated from the app

Good advice Jim - I dunno when I was younger thieves robbed your stereo then after that it was your Tom Tom! Now it's the whole car - these keyless unlocking and starting cars are more trouble than they are worth a neighbour of mine has had a security post fitted and a steering wheel cover lock! Sort of defeats the object of easy keyless entry and start lol just use a bloody key 🙄🙄🙄

@@barryrathbone it is easier to just cut the wire that goes to the start stop button and wire it to an inline switch hidden somewhere under the dash so they can't start the engine my dad did a similar thing in the 80s just put a switch inline with ignition coil or before that removed the HT lead off the coil and took it with him but I agree with you there should be a part you can remove from engine management or something but people just want convenience of keyless entry and start

I’m hopeful my security measures will prevent anyone breaking in to my car.
I have my Minions, Paddington Bears, sunflowers, and 2 houseplants.
My theory is that no-one would break into the car of a crazy person, which clearly I am 😁
Plus, I drive a Honda Jazz, and although it sounds like a muscle car at present because of a noisy exhaust, it clearly isn’t, er, desirable to your average car thief… hopefully 🤞

2 x 1 year old Range Rovers and GLA 35 recently had a bit of attention near me.
They then drove along the street to look at a Lexus.
Fortunately all vehicles were behind padlocked gates.
Never figured out why folk put their £50 lawnmowers in the garage and have their £50000 car out on the road.

Manufacturers don’t care, they could easily make this more secure if they wanted to but why would they. Any replacement vehicles or damage done to the vehicle results in spare parts being ordered from the manufacturer which is kerching. Mk7 Golf R/GTI/GTD was the worst, VW made it so that stolen parts could easily be removed and attached onto another Golf. I had my entire front bumper stolen and the recovery guys said they are doing this everyday with Golfs. Booo manufacturers
