It seems car thieves love the danger of possibly being caught because Landrover is number one and they are guaranteed to break down
😁
and your evidence is?
You can turn off the keyless entry feature on LR (it’s a bit of a gimmick anyway if you ask me) which stops the key “transmitting” meaning you need the actual key itself to open and start the car, simple easy step which will stop anyone cloning the keys signal.
👍👍👍👍👍
I turn the keyless signal off on my car every night, simple job, and this can be checked its working by trying to gain entry, that said the key’s also go to sleep when you put them down but I’m yet to find out how you can test this without your local villain coming around to see if he can relay the signal.
Good advice the box your talking about does work. I would strongly recommend one. I use one as well as a faraday pouch for the car key when away from home.
👍👍👍
Nice report Jim, well worth mentioning the list. 👍
Thanks mate
Great video as always . There is certainly an issue in the insurance industry in trying to obtain cover for Range Rovers due to their propensity of being stolen
Thanks mate
Awesome content as per usual..thanks for your efforts and sharing your experience 🙏
Thanks Jock 👍👍👍
Just take the fuel pump relay out of fuse box and the car will not start and fit a disk loc on steering wheel as a deterrent
🧐
This has been going on for several years, and Land Rover cars do seem very frequently stolen in my area. JLR have a lot to answer for but like most car manufacturers they do very little.
👍👍
Interesting video. Thanks for your diligence Jim.
Thanks Maurice
Lots of high end cars are stolen and shipped abroad, perhaps checking containers before they go
on ships would be a good idea
👍
I've actually had one of those boxes (the exact one in your link) for just under 2 years. They work 100%. You can put your keys in the box and hold the box next to the car and press the unlock button on the car's door handle and it will not open. One tip though; pull the latching catch off as after a while you won't bother using it and then it just serves to prop open the lid.
👍👍👍
Catalytic converters as well. The high clearance big suvs make it easier for the thieves, once again Land Rover looking at you.
👍
Shortage of parts available for popular models means those everyday vehicles are targets not just those stolen to order and sent abroad! Faraday pouches or any blocker box should help!
👍
Canbus Attacks are now one of the biggest problems, LR and Toyota/Lexus are now both in the top ten most stolen cars in the UK, One Lexus RX was stolen in under 45 seconds from walking up to it to driving it away.
👍
Wise words. Thanks.
👍
The Mercedes Me app has an option to disable the electronic key. Owners should just disable it every time they lock their car. Then even if someone steals the electronic code, the car wont unlock until the key is activated from the app
Oh really, that’s useful.
Good advice Jim - I dunno when I was younger thieves robbed your stereo then after that it was your Tom Tom! Now it's the whole car - these keyless unlocking and starting cars are more trouble than they are worth a neighbour of mine has had a security post fitted and a steering wheel cover lock! Sort of defeats the object of easy keyless entry and start lol just use a bloody key 🙄🙄🙄
It does mate
That is so true! Maybe we should have a removable part of the dash like the stereos in the 80’s??!!
@@barryrathbone it is easier to just cut the wire that goes to the start stop button and wire it to an inline switch hidden somewhere under the dash so they can't start the engine my dad did a similar thing in the 80s just put a switch inline with ignition coil or before that removed the HT lead off the coil and took it with him but I agree with you there should be a part you can remove from engine management or something but people just want convenience of keyless entry and start
Friend of mine has a 6 inch nail in a piece of wood under a cushion on the drivers seat.
😁
Was it a rusty nail 😂😂
Great idea, ouch!
👍👍👍 Thanks Jim.
Thanks Pete 🙏🙏
Mercedes and JLR double-click the lock button on the car fob to switch off radio transmission.
👍👍👍
Learn the safety features built into the car as well for example, the new Mercedes, you can double click the lock, which disables the keyless entry.
👌👍
super helpful thank you
👍👍👍
Manufacturers don’t care, they could easily make this more secure if they wanted to but why would they. Any replacement vehicles or damage done to the vehicle results in spare parts being ordered from the manufacturer which is kerching. Mk7 Golf R/GTI/GTD was the worst, VW made it so that stolen parts could easily be removed and attached onto another Golf. I had my entire front bumper stolen and the recovery guys said they are doing this everyday with Golfs. Booo manufacturers
👍👍👍
I think it could be because of higher second hand car prices because of demand for new cars with no supply
No excuse to go on the rob though is it
@@DefinitelyNotAGuru that’s not what i was meaning i was meaning that could be a cause for the increase
yes, i know mate, i was saying that cars getting more expensive and harder to buy (therefore more valuable) is not a good reason to go stealing but i agree with your point entirely
My wife has aToyota CHR nobody in their right mind would steal one of these things 🚗🤣
😂
Why please. I’m about to buy one in a few days but I’m scared
@@charmyni8847 they’re just a bit marmite in terms of the looks, that’s all.
2 x 1 year old Range Rovers and GLA 35 recently had a bit of attention near me.
They then drove along the street to look at a Lexus.
Fortunately all vehicles were behind padlocked gates.
Never figured out why folk put their £50 lawnmowers in the garage and have their £50000 car out on the road.
👍
I’m hopeful my security measures will prevent anyone breaking in to my car.
I have my Minions, Paddington Bears, sunflowers, and 2 houseplants.
My theory is that no-one would break into the car of a crazy person, which clearly I am 😁
Plus, I drive a Honda Jazz, and although it sounds like a muscle car at present because of a noisy exhaust, it clearly isn’t, er, desirable to your average car thief… hopefully 🤞
If they don’t work the the severed head in the boot would certainly do it 😂😂
@@DefinitelyNotAGuru 👍🤪🤣
We know where are those Land Rovers go after disappearing..
To the repair shop... 👀
😁
Great video. Just make your car harder to steal than your neighbours!!!
Ours tends to look like a biohazard and I think the Citroen badge probably helps keep the thieves away too!
This is why I drive a Kia Rio. Very reliable, never let me down in 4 years of ownership but who on earth would want to steal it??
👍
Laughable the most stolen vehicles Land Rover are the most problematic !
Still one of the most popular despite the issues
Probably nicking them to repair they're own one with the parts lol
Thieves are always one step ahead and the fact that you can buy the machine to wirelessly clone the key off eBay is ridiculous. Any extra security devices like faraday box or steering wheel locks relies on us remembering or being bothered ti use rhem
Steering locks are utterly pointless to be honest, they take seconds to remove.
If the car is made unstealable without the actual car key will only put the owner and their family at risk of been woken up at night by a thief demanding your keys. Not a good position to be in.
@@stevedavis2541 so just let them steal it then is what you’re saying?
@@IlLAD3LPH1A215 Your life is worth more than your car.
@@stevedavis2541It’s really not in my *_DNA_* to not defend what’s mine
old metal glasses case to block car key signal?
Dunno
They are so badly made, they are worth more in parts.... LR Ha !
👌
Land-rover lol...would be lucky to make the get away without it breaking down!
😁
How did I miss this one
Just good luck I reckon, go and buy a lottery ticket 😁
My ford kuga was stolen we tracked the crook down by cctv and Internet and got a name police 😢 said hear say did nothing thanks gmp
Not the first time I’ve heard that. If it had been going over the speed limit
there would have been more interest! Police recovery rates don’t exactly help out car insurance premiums.
umm keyless entry keyless starts .... UMM not a good thing
👍
Cooking foil =signal blocker 😊
👌
No Peugeot, hurrah 😂😂
😁
I'm surprised no jags
👍
Wrappings key's in tin foil works thieves cannot receive a signal
👍
Crime does pay in the UK.
Seems to
No Tesla on the list. Pin to drive for the win
👍
Another "bad" list without Honda's in it.
👌
👍👍👍
Gracias otra vez 😁👍
ITS THE CAR THEVIES INCREASING YOUR INSURANCE AND THEIR OWN FRIENDS AND FAMILYS
Inflation, injury claims and uninsured drivers contribute a fair bit too
dangerous drivers , drink , drug drivers too.
👍👍👍
Gracias!
