    I think the point of these devices is to be psychological; to make a thief consider if it is worth the time and risk of being caught. I don't think they are meant to be unbeatable, just take as much time and added risk as possible to the criminal.

      This is something my Dad said all the time growing up. Any lock can be beaten, the purpose of a lock is to make it not worth the effort needed to steal whatever you are protecting.

    • @KingKafei
      @KingKafei Год назад +22

      I think it's also that a lot of these devices are not common anymore, so it's unlikely a car theif will have the tools to beat the locks and will most move on to a different car.

    • @TheFlameSlayer
      @TheFlameSlayer Год назад +12

      theres alot of risks that come also from these methods. the last thing you want to be doing is making noises so using a drill or in the alarm ones case the noise that produces they will consider that in the is it worth stealing . then all it would take is judging one wrong (like how tylertube though the 1st one on the wheel was going to be a 2 second job) so i think the psychological factor does play a big part
      i really think sound factor is important. the one with the alarm one i feel that one also is not being looked at in the right way. its not so much about stopping someone breaking it. but its about alerting and potentially spooking someone whos stealing it which can make them make more mistakes (as you would feel on a time limit) or even abandon the steal. on top of this any attached to the steering wheel may of caused the horn to go off ( in the exsample cars case it has no alarm but if you kept hitting it with a hammer that may of caused the horn to go off again causing noise )
      the only time noise may not be much of a factor is if your in the middle of nowhere. if your in a town center or car park or theres houses and such around noise plays a much bigger part

      Better ideas are out there for kill switches. For instance there is a device that requires a certain sequence of button presses to start the vehicle. Even heard of one guy that turned his cigarette lighter into a kill switch on his classic car. Though that would be irrelevant to a vehicle manufactured today since apparently people don’t smoke and drive anymore.

    • @peu9890
      @peu9890 2 месяца назад +1

      Just saw a facebook video showing the best way to put on the club...
      1) *Put club on backwards with lock facing dashboard so it can't be drilled out
      2) Put club across the top of the steering wheel to greatly reduce steering wheel movement in most cars
      3) IF able, put the club on the steering wheel with the longest part facing the driver side window glass. Then pull on the club until you hear a final click to snap it tightly into place eliminating any wiggle room. On my car the long end of the club extends to about 1 inch from the driver side window. The steering wheel can't be turned more than a few inches in either direction. Turn it left it hits the door. Turn it right it hits the frame of the car.
      This seems like the best method. If a criminal has to cut into the steering wheel to get the club off most likely they will move onto an easier car.
      Best practice is to ALWAYS put the club on with the lock facing away from you.

      Cutting the steering wheel on late model cars does create complications for the thief if he wants to fence the entire vehicle intact. Nowadays, many steering wheels house the horn, airbag, heating element, and wires leading to dashboard audio controls. Some cars even have paddle shifters mounted to the steering wheel. Note that cutting the steering wheel will disable some of the car's functions, and the wheel would be expensive to replace.

I've always thought inventing/putting a throttle control device that simply wouldn't let the throttle/car decelerate once pressed... basically the pedal stays down as far as its pushed and won't come back up. Baitcams would be way more amusing.

    Just a reminder to anyone who is looking at these things. Unless the person trying to steal your care is coming at it with a full tool kit, and is a pro. the amount of time that someone would need to take the care is going to be too long for them to even try. A thief want's to get in and gone in less than a minute. Anything longer and the potential thief will move on. TLDR all these things are for making it too time consuming to steal.
