I ordered the 3C, then the 3. the better screen is nice, but you only notice it side by side. The screen on the 3C is considerable darker, that was the deciding factor für me. And also Batterie Life is much better. The colors dont make this up to me, as they are really washed out
I expected something else of this video, maybe it is my false expectations, but I wanted to know how the screen is opposed to the 3C. I already know the features of Boox from other video's, it went too much on and on at the 227ppi. I just need to know: why buy this instead of the 3C. Is the screen better with no lights on? Currently I'm using a Nova 3 Color and want a bigger device, if the B/W version has a better screen with the lights off, I'd maybe go for that instead of color
I sent my Tab Mini C color back and it had the same screen tech as this. I found the color screen far too dull compared to my b&w Kindle and BOOX Page, both of which look great with no glow light on. As you’ve already got a color one, the color air 3 will probably be quite similar, just a bit faster to refresh, but still way darker than this b&w version.
Can you make a video comparing Note air 3C and Note air 3? I'm really curious about the presence or absence of BSR GPU BTW. Thank you for the nice review
Why not compare side by side with 300 ppi screen? I bought a kindle to test and even on the sharper screen seeing the pixels bothers me a little bit when drawing with a thinner pen. I can't imagine 227p not having noticeable pixels.
It seems to me we are entering a "golden age" of ereading/note-taking devices. Onyx seems to be leading the way in terms of technology. I don't think it will be long before we have a Palma-sized device that maybe has two screens... one e-ink and the other oled... that also acts as a phone and allows note taking and note to text conversion. That, to me, would be an almost perfect personal device.
This device is currently the best value ereader! It is really sad that they downgraded the quality of the screen from 300 PPI. Otherwise, they would have sold a lot more. Thanks for your review!
It's the same device with the same battery. The only major difference is that the color has a color array filter which doesn't affect the battery life So I don't know what the lol is all about.
I received my unit on Saturday, about 5 pm. I put it on the charger which indicated 90% and took it off after some chores at 99%. I have used it samewhat sprodically for two days now, I have always thought judging battery on a new device is a lttle unfair as we tend to use it more in the first days of ownership. At the end of Sunday it had 85% and as I type today, monday, after usnig it as an e-reader and messing with folders for several hours it is clocking in at 70%. I would guess with this usuage and following an hour-long meeting tomorrow taking notes it will show over 60% remaining without a charge. My guess is after 1 week it may be wise to top it off, but I doubt with what I see that it will be less than 40% or more after moderate use. @@FawadBilgrami
Great review thanks. I think if this hit $300 it'd be a buy for our family. It's hard for me to justify not spending 25% more for color and better ppi.
I love the video comparisons at the end. But I came here to see a side - by - side comparison of the screen between 3 and 3C. I am hesitant on 3C because of the bad contrast. But You didn't compare the screens. I think You still have a small window of opportunity to do a comparison video until someone else does it. Also hand gesturing without a purpose on camera is just unnecessary distracting. But the camera angles for shooting the buttons are top notch
Yes, there was no comparison because this is not a comparison video, there was a review because this is a review video. We compare devices in comparison videos
I suspect that they keep the screen to make the price in China low. There, this tablet is called NoteX3, and cost around 250 pounds, whereas the colour version still cost more than 400.
I m in Hong Kong and i am thinking of buying note x3, it s 2600 RMB that is 50g lighter, while air note 3 with goggle playstore is 3600 hkd, or about 80 pounds more expensive, or 25% more expensive.
Yep, I held off buying the Air 2 waiting for 300 ppi screen. I have the BOOX Page and the 300 ppi screen looks great. Prior to that I had a Kindle paperwhite from 2015 with 300 ppi. Why they’d release another 10” lacking 300 ppi I don’t know. I’m concerned if the ppi difference would annoy me when jumping from one device to the other! Plan is to use the 10” for note taking and PDF’s, and keep the Page for a carry around, reading my novels and the news etc.

Honestly, 300 PPI is basically my absolute minimum required for purchase of e-ink devices, otherwise I do get distracted by the noticeable pixels. I once got an ereader I had to regretfully send back, because I didn't realize just how bad 227 PPI looks in person. Pictures and video on the internet failed to capture this. I replaced it with a (now old and discontinued, but still perfectly working) Boyue Likebook "Muses", which has a 7.8" carta/1782×1448/300 PPI display that I've been quite happy with.
