      I ordered the 3C, then the 3. the better screen is nice, but you only notice it side by side. The screen on the 3C is considerable darker, that was the deciding factor für me. And also Batterie Life is much better. The colors dont make this up to me, as they are really washed out

    I expected something else of this video, maybe it is my false expectations, but I wanted to know how the screen is opposed to the 3C. I already know the features of Boox from other video's, it went too much on and on at the 227ppi. I just need to know: why buy this instead of the 3C. Is the screen better with no lights on?
    Currently I'm using a Nova 3 Color and want a bigger device, if the B/W version has a better screen with the lights off, I'd maybe go for that instead of color

      I sent my Tab Mini C color back and it had the same screen tech as this. I found the color screen far too dull compared to my b&w Kindle and BOOX Page, both of which look great with no glow light on. As you’ve already got a color one, the color air 3 will probably be quite similar, just a bit faster to refresh, but still way darker than this b&w version.

    Why not compare side by side with 300 ppi screen? I bought a kindle to test and even on the sharper screen seeing the pixels bothers me a little bit when drawing with a thinner pen.
    I can't imagine 227p not having noticeable pixels.

    I think the difference PPI is secondary to contrast, which the carta 1300 screen touts as being 20% better than their other B&W displays.

      I received my unit on Saturday, about 5 pm. I put it on the charger which indicated 90% and took it off after some chores at 99%. I have used it samewhat sprodically for two days now, I have always thought judging battery on a new device is a lttle unfair as we tend to use it more in the first days of ownership.
      At the end of Sunday it had 85% and as I type today, monday, after usnig it as an e-reader and messing with folders for several hours it is clocking in at 70%. I would guess with this usuage and following an hour-long meeting tomorrow taking notes it will show over 60% remaining without a charge. My guess is after 1 week it may be wise to top it off, but I doubt with what I see that it will be less than 40% or more after moderate use.

    It seems to me we are entering a "golden age" of ereading/note-taking devices. Onyx seems to be leading the way in terms of technology. I don't think it will be long before we have a Palma-sized device that maybe has two screens... one e-ink and the other oled... that also acts as a phone and allows note taking and note to text conversion. That, to me, would be an almost perfect personal device.

Why they’d release another 10” lacking 300 ppi I don’t know. I’m concerned if the ppi difference would annoy me when jumping from one device to the other! Plan is to use the 10” for note taking and PDF’s, and keep the Page for a carry around, reading my novels and the news etc.

    I love the video comparisons at the end. But I came here to see a side - by - side comparison of the screen between 3 and 3C. I am hesitant on 3C because of the bad contrast. But You didn't compare the screens. I think You still have a small window of opportunity to do a comparison video until someone else does it. Also hand gesturing without a purpose on camera is just unnecessary distracting. But the camera angles for shooting the buttons are top notch

    Please listen to your viewers, read the comments below - in a review like this one would expect battery life to be covered, especially as the air 3 c doesn't appear to have great battery life, and some of us are hoping for a boox device with the same features, but with a B&W screen and better battery life. Please do a future video in which you cover this! This 'review' feels a bit rushed tbh. It's good to hear that the ppi is not disappointing but most of us still have unanswered questions after watching this. Another question is the screen - the colour screen appears to be matter / grayer. Is this b&w screen nicer, because it has higher contrast?

    • @goodereader
      @goodereader  Год назад

      We do listen to our viewers, but RUclips isn't our Prime focus of our company and the reality is is that we are the biggest company on RUclips that talks about epaper devices exclusively, but RUclips only accounts for about 10% of our company's profile
      We have explained a million times before, although we have 40 plus employees over five offices in four different countries, we do not have the infrastructure to set up agent tables, where we leave multiples of each unit on charge to see when they go from 0 to 100%, and vice versa
      There's also too many variables for that scenario including temperature of the room, voltage of the country, wi-fi, bluetooth, the specific speed mode, whether the glow light is on, what they are accessing, if the audio is playing, ETC
      It is not feasible to do battery tests and it is not possible for us to do them, we explained this countless times over the past decade
      Thank you

      @@goodereader Maybe but it would be qualitatively easy to tell us if your battery experience is much less about the same or better than the color screen. Given one of the most probable reason for the existance of this unit is better battery life than it's older brother it is not outrageous to expect some comments about batter life.

    • @goodereader
      @goodereader  Год назад

      @@jimgreco7041 yes, correct, but it is a very hard thing to sum up our battery experience,
      We also juggle several reviews at one time, and upload thousands of videos
      So unfortunately it would be too difficult for us to assess any sort of battery as even if we say "it's quite good"
      Everyone's always going to just watch our videos and say "uhhh it went from like 48% to 28% in like 14 minutes"
      Rendering any assessment of our personal opinions of the battery moot.
      Therefore, we do not comment on battery life as literally every single person is going to have a unique and different experience

    Honestly, 300 PPI is basically my absolute minimum required for purchase of e-ink devices, otherwise I do get distracted by the noticeable pixels.
    I once got an ereader I had to regretfully send back, because I didn't realize just how bad 227 PPI looks in person. Pictures and video on the internet failed to capture this.
    I replaced it with a (now old and discontinued, but still perfectly working) Boyue Likebook "Muses", which has a 7.8" carta/1782×1448/300 PPI display that I've been quite happy with. In fact I'm not really aware of anything that actually clearly surpasses it even 4 years later, as least for reading.
