@@expectnolove9978 the 2018 demon comes with 2 PCMs. There is one it ships with that has the limiter (and makes 808hp) and then in the demon crate there is a PCM that gets swapped in so it can make its full power numbers on race fuel (840hp). I’m not sure what all else changes between the two.

Love the demon 170, wish they kept the front widebody fenders though. I wonder how much slower it would be if they didnt have that along with the skinny tires.
One thing that ive noticed is how this monster has 5 wheel lug nuts - especially at the rear with how much power its working with. But the viper has 6 wheel lug nuts. Maybe because of the crazy g forces it will generate at the track. But this monster will create crazy g forces at the strip and makes waay more power yet only has 5 lug nuts

Really starting to think that buying my 2022 Redeye with the 3.09 gear and going DC Stage 2 might be the best of all the worlds. Seemed like the 3.09 was hard to come by in 2023, prices shot up, interest rates shot up, and now I’m sitting on an 885 hp car that’ll do low 10s in the quarter and probably a top speed over 205 mph (not that I’ll ever find out).

FWIW, I'd take the 2018 Demon over then2023 Demon 170 in a heartbeat as race track shenanigans don't interest me at all. I like performance cars built for the real world. So after listening to Racer X's new segment I think the original Demon would fit my requirements better. Then of course there's that reliability issue that everyone is talking about. Paying much more $$$ to own a car that although faster may not be as reliable. I'll gladly give up some added HP for reliability any day!
I would never play with E85, first we don't have it local and second the moment you get a bad batch or let your car sit, that crap will mess your car up.. And not for nothing most of the time it's not even 85 that you are getting it's mostly E70 at best.. It says right on the pump they only owe you E55...
What gets me, the ones who are buying a Demon 170, and OG Demon just to let me sit and just look at them, not race them, is just strange to me, the OG Demon has a very good track record for being very reliable, and the jury is still out on the Demon 170, and looking very good but still early on judgement.
Honestly? I'll never be able to purchase either of them, so my opinion doesn't matter much. But in addition to all of the points you brought up, I really liked how the first Demon had all these little Easter Eggs hidden throughout the car to make it really special. And the 170 just seemed to lack that.
The 2023 car has better capabilities than the 2018 car, but the 2018 Demon is built better, the Challengers,Chargers and 300’s from that model years where considered one of the most reliable and better built cars. The last L cars are having lots of issues with build quality.
Both are wonderful cars and they both are wonderful have hands down own them both ❤️. Make both feel loved 2018 made the way for the 2023 but if you love demon why not own both
The demon 170 is a great dragstrip monster but the O.G Demon is more practical and easy to mod car to 1025hp and the widebody stance on the 2018 was a game changer I just don’t think the 170 price tag is worth it with all the issues… think about it 🤔what will happen when the warranty is up on your Demon 170
I noticed since you got that car back.. Your not out every night beating the hell out of it, like you were before it broke.. I think he knows they aren't going to through another motor at him again.. most PPL are trying to turn them into collector cars. Most of the ones that were bought are sitting in peoples' garages' right now covered.. I don't know what makes PPL think they are going to spend 170K to 200K on a car and it's somehow going to go up in value later on down the road after spending 100K more than it's worth especially after suport for the car dies.. I honestly can't believe people keep chasing after these tanks the way they do.....
Going 9 seconds and even 8 seconds is no big thing in a full on race effort. Big displacement, big ass cam, carb and a tough Turbo 400 transmission is all it takes for power and the a well sorted and set up Chassis. You can match or beat a Demon with less effort required and for smaller $$$. Better still? When the inevitable happens and something breaks (nobody goes this fast and doesn't eventual break stuff) fixing it is well within the average guy's ability. The problem with BOTH of the modern Demons is found it just how much more it takes to go this fast and be a street driven, Legal to Register, car with all the modern expected creature comforts. You CAN get a Demon that does 9s in the 1/4 mile. This car proves that but when things go wrong most people are not going to be able to just trailer it home and fix it in their own garage . I saw your video concerning the break down in cost for a new engine in your own Demon 170. Not only was the bill pretty crazy, though not entirely surprising, the amount of time the car was "down" was excessive and because you have a big public profile I'm betting your car got fast tracked in way a more typical buyer shouldn't really expect. In the end if someone REALLY just has have a low 9 sec street/race car........probably got to do the tough thing........Tesla Plaid or some other EV that can do this. In the end gas powered 9sec and faster cars are probably best when they are dedicated race cars only with no street manners required. The real difference between the 170 and not the original Demon but also the great many Hell Cats running 700-800HP is found in how that 10 sec time slip is still within reason for dual mission street/race car. 1,000HP plus in a car that needs to meet all federal requirements seems a step too far.
SOOO many cars area faster on the Top end. Roll racing would HAVE TO GO with the 2018 Demon. Not to mention the Narrow body front end just… does not look as great.
The twin turbo mustang will out run the 170 or Demon. You also gave up on that one even though the potential was a car that would run in the low 8’s. So now you are back to square one. You asked what we think so there it is.
Demon was ONLY banned due to no cage and the AC chiller feature. It’s not bragging right. Dodge didn’t even set the car up properly to run the times it could run. It’s a knock not a praise.
I like my 2021 1320 just wish they put forged rotating assy . It is all I need not drag racing although the demon and the 170 demon are unreal for todays cars with all this crap about ev junk
Definitely not better look at your first engine and all the other 170 owners cars. How many 18 you heard that had this many issues…exactly no comparison. You can add after market parts or package to have the same amount horse power
E85 economy is terrible, alcohol has only 53% of the BTU energy of gasoline. No biggie at the track but when you leave it your first stop will be for fuel. Figure 35-40% drop in mpg, That means it's not a street car, no seats or sound, no ladies... No deal. QC is what you can expect when the line workers know they are going to be fired with no chance of a rehire. They are really pissed off and angry! I know what I would do to your car, if it was me. All to gain...half a second? O C had to escalate to get his buyback, his car wasn't built right. It's fair to say that if your not a well known person you won't get treated like you and O C. That's reality. We all are curious as you what's going to happen with #2.

2000 miles. How many passes?

@@brianv.1300 😂😂😂.
I prefer the original Demon
@@MrFcwright Great News. The 2018 Black on Black no sunroof Dream Giveaway Demon is for sale in Tampa, FL
One more comment here.Everything is cool until the thing drops out of factory warranty. Then it's a whole different ball game.
If you're gonna race it race it. All race cars break and your gonna keep it on the track with your own money
I'll take my chances with 2018 anything built 2020 & beyond I ain't down wit 👎🏾
I like my 2021 1320 just wish they put forged rotating assy . It is all I need not drag racing although the demon and the 170 demon are unreal for todays cars with all this crap about ev junk
Demon for sure, don't trust the 170 if I were to race it.
i hope i win this is my dream car 😭
It's better by far 170 in a straight line besides that it's the original demon hands down
IMO, I would much rather have a 2018 Demon, over a 2023 Demon 170. The 2023 Demon 170 is a one trick pony, the 2018 Demon is an all around great car.
🗣️SOMEBODY GOT THE TOES OUT
Definitely not better look at your first engine and all the other 170 owners cars. How many 18 you heard that had this many issues…exactly no comparison. You can add after market parts or package to have the same amount horse power
If I win the 2018 Demon I plan to drive it every day to and from the convalescent home where I and the other old women live.
It wouldn't be a Dodge if you couldn't question the reliability
It don’t matter to me either way I could not afford either one . Sooooo
Definitely looks better, no idea why they went with a hlaf wide body look in the new Demon that's so ugly to me
weight reduction
The new Demon is just a modified Hellcat
Facts
The 2018 is at least better looking if nothing else.
Demon 170 was a slapped together money grab built with catalog parts
