    Who makes your grey ballast seen in the yard? I need to also find out where you get your inspiration. I've been buying the kits and the vehicles and cars that will serve them, now I remembered that you shot this early last spring. Have you told your followers what we should expect the layout to look like when it is done?

    • @TopRailroad
      @TopRailroad  Год назад +1

      The ballast is by Woodland Scenics. I usually get my inspiration for real railroads or videos on RUclips of other peoples layouts. I actually have a new layout since this one so the one in the video is gone

    Congrats on 3K! Nice little episode here, so excited for twice weekly videos. So what are you going to do with that other section of track that goes out? Some sort of industrial track or something for a loop? You should get some automatic switch machines so you can control your switches remotely. What are you going to do about roadbed? Just leave the tracks flat and ballast them that way? Can't wait for the next episode, the amount of progress recently has been crazy, great job!

    • @TopRailroad
      @TopRailroad  2 года назад

      Thank you so much man! And yeah I should’ve explained a little more in the video but it will be a small industry not sure what yet. Switch machines would be awesome, I may have to look into some in the future. And I might do road bed but I may end up just waiting on the next large section

      @@TopRailroad Awesome! Good to have lots of industries along the line, it'll make it more fun to ho scale railfan on. Maybe it could be some sort of lumber or oil industry, who knows.

    I am amazed you did not have to install any type of Frog juicer or insulated rail joiners for your Turnouts. I used Code 100 peco...and finally got my Modular extension to work...but OH boy all the extra Frog wiring was a nightmare.
    It all works...but I like your simplicity of your Atlas Turnouts.
    So no extra wiring of your frogs? No start and stops?
    Thanks for the tips... and Liked your video.
    😁

    • @TopRailroad
      @TopRailroad  2 года назад +1

      Oh man yeah I’ve seen the wiring for doing frogs and turnouts and I’ll say they look stressfull. I plan for this layout to be fairly simple like you say. Luckily enough the Atlas Turnouts are DCC safe so there’s no need for that. I appreciate the comments 😁😎

    instead of cutting the plastic at the end of the track, why not just heat the rail joiners so that they melt the plastic when put in place?

    • @TopRailroad
      @TopRailroad  9 месяцев назад

      I didn’t go with it on here since there were lots of sidings and not just mainline. It’s just how I do it but you can use cork roadbed if you like

  • @mikeski01221964
    @mikeski01221964 2 года назад

    Can you explain again why you paint your tracks?

    • @TopRailroad
      @TopRailroad  2 года назад +5

      It’s just for more realism. The Atlas track brand new has black ties and the rails are 100% shiny. Track in real life is always rusted except for the very top where the wheels run over and the ties are never just black. So the dark brown paint makes it look way better from all angles
