Hey if you read the comments don’t listen to the so called know it alls the best thing about this hobby is you make it your own and have fun. I like the rock work you did there.
Good evening, Ken. You've gone from building a barn on my favourite homestead channel to building models in my favourite hobby. Earns an immediate sub. Enjoy your retirement, sir.
I "love the idea" of this. I'd like to think I would do it. But I wouldn't. But I appreciate the fact that someone else had the patience to do it. Nice video!
35yrs of high-end extreme rock climbing has given me a unique appreciation for nature. Now that I am old and disintegrating, need to revisit a very old hobby. Whenever I look at a layout, I can't help but wonder, "Would I want to climb that cliff?". ;-)
Before I started watching this, I thought, building a track for my boy would be cool. Then I quickly realized this guy is WELL beyond my level. Very cool to watch.
I like this work very much, no talking - just doing it. Thank you very much for allowing us/me to be there as spectators! Best wishes from Vienna / Austria / Europe
Just now watching this. Have never done anything like this in my life but am inspired to try. As a child I was gifted 2 Lionel O Gauge sets 1950’s vintage and a bunch of accessories which I still own . Never played with HO scale but am interested to make a project of it. Before the so called know it alls chime in I have skills and am confident at my vintage I can make this happen. Thanks for this great account and inspiring a seasoned dog to create.
in order to set the ballast I use 50% PVA glue with water and a drop of dishwashing solution to break the surface tension then spray the ballast leave until dry this is a fantastic build very informative
This is the fastest hands I ever saw in my life. lol it's always fun to watch people build their railroad. It's also a lot of fun to build one I've been doing it for 65 years
New guy here! So glad I found your video! It really helped point me in the right direction on base building materials necessary to get a great foundation!!! 😊🫡👍👍👍 thank you so much for walking me thru all the necessary and pertinent information needed!
I enjoyed watching this coming together.. I know having a vision in your head, and they trying to convey it to others is hard..lol I do just as you did..say just wait you’ll get it in the end.. awesome work
It's coming around, Eric. 😊 Looking great, my friend ! Can't wait to see how you do the bridge. I'll be paying attention, for sure . I am going to be building one too.
Perfect Ken! People of all ages enjoy trains, and I had two uncles who were very involved in trains. I got involved with RC airplanes 40+ years ago, and finally set up a very small train for Christmas this year. It’s not 1/1000 of your display, but who knows where it might lead. Thanks for Sharing!
Ken, the straight and uniform avenues of trees reminds me very much of rural France. I have travelled from London through Paris to Bordeaux several times and it is a very beautiful experience. Live happy buddy. 🙏
It was a pleasure watching you working on your amazing layout. Have watched some vids and 1 minute there saying what they want to do next second it's done and they don't show you how it's done. Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to seeing your next vid .
Hey Ken, this is a very interesting & informative video. I stumbled across it & it kept me locked into view. Looks like you enjoy yourself working on it. I subbed to your channel. Looking forward to watching your other videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Rick 🚂🚃🚃🚃
Our first grandchild really likes trains and I think this could be a great hobby to start doing either him. Thanks for the time you put into this to show us newbies.
I have been building my own layout and there is no right and wrong way. Its your way so you enjoy what your doing and making. If the trains run you have the technical side right and your result looks great therefore you did it right :-)
WHAT AN AWESOME GOOD JOB YOU DID VERY GOOD INDEED THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS WITH ME I APPRECIATE IT AND YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY AND REMEMBER MY LAYOUT WAS DONE 12 YEARS AGO BUT ALWAYS FIDDLE WITH IT THAS MY HOBBY. JIM KAMMERER OF PHILADELPHIA PA.
It's a pleasure to watch a guy my age who KNOWS how to build things.- I've got to ask, were you a contractor, finish carpenter, home builder, building inspector, before you retired ? I should be paying you for the ideas ! Thanks
RUclips doing its usual random thing, i have no idea how i got here from the north of England, dont have a train set, never built anything like this and highly unlikely i ever will but thorougherly enjoyed your lovely little video 😁
What a good man you are...very nice lifestyle...I really liked what you did with the ballast....it's true to life the way you did it...why not! Tamping it even lol..I'd think that after you completed the ballast and glued what you want to stay....taking a cordless air (leaf blower) you can kind of blow the table off and boom cleaned! Regardless your a great man..great tinkerer...nice job!
Thanks for this, you have given me a couple of ideas. Just by the way, you could have saved some money, all ballast glue is, is 50/50 mix of PVA. Once again thanks for posting.
My friend, this has been the best train video I have seen. So far, I don't have a train set, but who knows, one may be in the future for this "old man." So I would like to copy parts of yours. God Bless my friend.
Great job and so very inspirational. I've wanted to build a layout for decades however my fear of making mistakes has prevented me doing so. I think your video is "the one" that will propel me forward! Thanks!!
@@trainguy5634 Enjoyed watching Bob Ross…very calming, his videos were a great distraction from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. Thanks for the continued inspiration. Just the thought of visiting my local train shop was intimidating, however, I went, met some great folks and bought “How to Design a Model Railroad” by Lance Mindheim (MR)! It’s a start!!
Great video and there are definitely some building techniques I will be using. I like the stone walls too, definitely going to utilize that in my builds!
I’m literally sitting here and thought to myself man this Ken looks just like the Ken from Ken’s Karpentry then I was like wait a minute… 😂😂😂 Now I know why I like both channels!
Great job on your start to finish h.o.scale layout. That size you chose definitely provides a lot of space to work with. I just recently built a U shaped shelf switching layout. 2x8, 2x12 and 2x8. Thanks again for sharing this video with us along with your PRICELESS time and effort! Cheers from Laurel, Delaware USA.
New Subscriber from your Carpentry Channel. Sound effects are over the top. Watching that train go around the track put a huge smile on my face‼️ THANK YOU KEN‼️🚂🛤️🚞 Vinny 🇺🇸
What a great build, I love the train station and the fact that finally I see someone was a competency in framing
Thanks
I can tell you how much I enjoyed your video all day long. Thanks for sharing what a wonderful job. Idaho.

I agree with the full on hobbyist. It's HIS WAY. Not my style but, fun.
I will say, the way he built the frame work , I just knew it was going to be HEAVY!😮
If I posted myself taking a shit, there will always be people criticizing my every move………………………….ment.

A train layout can be very basic and simple.
@@Kens265 True, but when watching this, basic just won't cut it anymore.
