I'm also 78 years young and helped build section C220 of the Taiwan High Speed Railway back in 2000 - 2004. I was the Senior Inspector of Works for the 16 klm of Right of Way, 11 tunnels were constructed, plus an elevated section across the flood plain of Hsin Chu. The viaducts were installed as concrete sections by way of DSM & ASM methods to form the twin track running lines and 4 track station of Hsin Chu. The tunnels in the foothill section had earthworks, bridges between each one, this all in a earthquake zone, I have experienced a few and their very wobbly. especially as I lived on the 14th floor. Great model, but I bet the wife has a hell of a job getting to put up a clothes hook. Loved the detail you put in with grass etc. Well done and thanks for posting.
My late-Uncle Bob S. built a room on the back of his house for the washer, dryer, and hot water heater, so he could lay claim to the ENTIRE basement of his HUGE North Buffalo, NY home for his massive HO railroad... It was probably 60 feet long X 30 feet wide, with aisles, controller stations, a gigantic staging yard, Tehachapi Loop, a 6 foot long curved wooden trestle built from scratch, and a whole plethora of other stuff... He was probably 30 years into building and modifying it when he told me, "...It'll never be completed, 'cuz it's an ongoing love affair..." It was the largest HO model railroad layout in Western New York... R.I.P. Uncle Bob...
The planning, the step-by-step construction and the 2 year result - Amazing!!! I have not had a railroad for 50 years and I am still blown away by your skills. This is so much better to watch during my morning coffee than watching the news. Thank you x10 !!!!!!!!
What should I even say? The amount of skill, knowledge, time, dedication, motivation, etc... it's enviable. The planning and execution, and the wiring is unbelievably clean. Well done..and as said..the threaded rod was something I've not seen but filed away for when I start on mine. So many ideas gleaned. Amazing vision. Forty years ago my uncle built a three level layout. Keep in mind it was analog yet he was able to run four trains simultaneously. Sadly he was never able to landscape it before life caught up to him. I was able to purchase 80% of his engines and rolling stock. I do not have photos of the layout but watching your endeavor unfold it brings back memories. Looking forward to how you landscape!

A build of this capacity and magnitude is resume worthy regardless of occupation. Just walk up and hand over the flashdrive, 20 minutes later, when can you start?? 😜. Incredible vision conceptually and the dedication and discipline to complete a massive scale multi year project. Congratulations 🍻
Thank you for expressing this before me. Whatever the occupation of the person building this, he must be very, very good at it. Deutsche Gründlichkeit, eh ?
I’ll second your reply if l may and the word magnitude and track cleaning are the only things I’d add 😳 But bravo, what a monster you hath created! 🤣 Can’t wait for Part 3 👍
Been following this build since you started posting videos about it. Looks absolutly incredible. Can't wait for the landscape construction videos. Keep up the hard work!!
This is beyond amazing; I do terrain scenery for miniature wargaming so i consider myself part of the « hobby », but this holistic display of skills, planning, and detail.. I did badly not want the video to end... thank you and please keep sharing!
Incredible work. The visual spatial complexity of the multilayered design is amazing. Just to sit down and imagine this does my head in. But then to plan and methodically execute the design so flawlessly....? You deserve to have millions of likes... and im very sure you'll have them in short order. Many congrats!
I've seen many layouts over the years either in person or video. I've even traveled to The Museum of science and Industry in Chicago to view their impressive layout. I'm in Canada so large layouts tend to have long mainlines which look great for long freight consists but then the scenery is mostly vegetation and the square footage is big. I've been thinking for years about my eventual dream build. Your layout is the closest I have seen to what I have imagined. As a trades worker I can see your dedication to top quality workmanship. Definitely one of my favorite layouts. Two thumbs up.
This would have to be the most professionally build model railway I have ever seen. The construction quality is first class, and the wiring and control circuitry has been installed to instrumentation electrical engineering standard. Just when I was screaming why no lighting you installed first class lighting to the staging yard. Your skill in carpentry is master carpentry level. Your design and its execution put you at the very top of the model railway elitist's.
Not sure which part of your build impressed me the most! Truly wonderful job from the layout design, the build quality, and your power wiring and setup are first class. Loved seeing the time-lapse of this... thank you for sharing!!
Beautiful work. I have built a large HO scale model railroad covering about 1200 ft.² and really appreciate the hard work you have done going through the two-year process. Great job.
A labour of love. A master craftsman at work and play. Bravo. Inspirational. It's nice to be reminded once in a while, in a world that's gone down the toilet, that humans truly are amazing. Can be anyway. All it takes is a dream, a desire, a hunger and a certain mindset. I don't know why youtube brought me here, but I am so glad that it did. Well done indeed. Now, if you'd built that in Britain, you could probably expect a letter from the government to say they intend to buy your house under the compulsory purchase act, to knock it down, in order to build a railway line! HS2 I expect. The irony.
Huge applause to all aspects of your project in all aspects. As I was watching one thing that occurred to me as a model railroader myself. Does the multiple levels make track cleaning a bit challenging or how do you combat and handle this or other maintence tasks? This man's video offers so many reasons why all young people/children should be intruduced to the world of model railroading. So many positive thing's to yield, especially for younger people.
Wow. The volume of top tier talents, skills, training, and expertise that are absolutely required before one could even dream up such a project is definitely worthy of consideration as pointed out by a post below talking about the resume and job interview demonstration. Lots of visibly demonstrated and externalizable "strengths" here like, start to finish vision, planning and conceptualizing, building a plan to methodically build such a project, recognition and management of a web of complex and interactively required elements and systems for which each of them required their own plans, the patience and attention to detail in the execution of the plan, quality controls to prevent errors from being realized too far into the construction to fix or correct, the ability and skills to do the video capture and media content creation There was a time in the US maybe 20ish years ago where the big deal in education was project oriented demonstrations for student's "portfolios. I'd say that this project in its totality is a near perfect portrayal of the goal of that movement. It even includes the hobbies. What do you do for fun? Model Trains.. This is pretty much astounding.
This is the first time that I have seen this incredible HO layout. I can't wait for the landscape to begin. Lots of work to complete this incredible layout. Mike HO from Australia
the drive, the precision, the attention to details, such clean workspace, you must be Dutch or German 🙂 but above all exemplary workmanship, I love the Window'95 background!!!
When we came in our new house, 28 years ago, a small place at the attick was reserved for my trains. But I couldn’t finish this plan. 5 Years ag I stopped working and had a new bigger plan because I had more time. But it was not possible to finish that too. My age is 63 and I am jealous at your trains! My plan was smaller but with two leavels. I am amazing how you have finished this construction. I had Fleischmann H0. I was 6/7years old when my dad started with making trains in the weekend.
Wow just wow, but damn, now you have weathened my apitite for more. Can't wait to see the landscaping, trees, creeks and houses. People, roads and cars.
I'm just speechless, this required plenty of hard work, dedication, discipline and Time, this is just two years in terms of your various skills! guess it for others This worth millions of view and still not enough! Just wanna say congratulations from a diorama maker who really understands the level of this work ❤
Great job but I am now very discouraged! As somone who grew up in Germany and who loves German trains, I've always wanted a German cantinary HO layout roughly twice as large as yours with long straight runs and large radius turns. A couple Bahnhöfe and a Locschuppen. I was hoping that in two years of 10 hours a week in possibly three I could build such a layout start to finish with all the scenery. I can tell a project such as mine will take at least 10 years. 🥺
You must not overdo it and only take on individual sections at a time. Then a layout will develop almost by itself ;] You have to enjoy youre build and not to rush it! Greetings!
Don't be discouraged. You can get a lot done in 2 yes with 10 hrs a week. Aim for a lesser level of detail and completion for phase 1 and then make improvements and fill in details. Some people are never "finished".
Maybe try building a smaller layout first with the intentions of being able to incorporate it into your planned larger layout. If it's your first layout the experience and skill you'll acquire will help in completing a larger build. I'm currently on my 3rd Ho scale permanent layout and spent a few years on a "temporary" N scale floor layout using Kato Unitrack. My dream build is still years away. I'm sure some of the skills you acquired from RC model building will help. Best of luck.
Im just seeing this video, cause my son wants/asked to build an N-gauge layout in corner of his room. We are NOT going to ANY of this level, but you have to be in awe of how this man mapped, planned, built, and brought power to this immaculate layout. Flawless construction techniques. Extremely impressive. If my sons turns out 1/10th this good, i will be happy.!!
This is truly a fabulous layout. You are to be congratulated for your design skills, construction abilities, talent and the patience required to stay with a project which requires consistency of care. Very enjoyable watch.
Great job😎 16 Years ago My son's and I built a 3 level layout, ran 5 trains, had mountains, river, lake, tunnels, even had a military base, tons of buildings, roads, cars, trucks, people Etc...Was very therapeutic, I miss it a lot. We moved had to take it down a few years ago. Gave everything to a neighbor kid who was into train's.
WOW! You weren't fooling around, were you? It's incredible just watching all the work that's involved in putting such a dream together. While I watched each phase of the construction, I wondered just how much time it must have taken just to plan out the layout and all that would be needed to build this railroad? I'm sure that took longer to do than the actual work. This is really brilliant to say the least. Good luck, and enjoy it. I hope the trains run on time!
Absolutely the best build video I’ve ever seen! I’m 53 and this is so well built and executed! Fantastic job! Enjoy your dream for all of us out here who can’t do things like that anymore. The attention to detail in everything even including the video capture, music and all of it is just perfection! You sir are a master at all of your crafts!
David, this is by far the best Timelapse I have ever seen of a layout of this magnitude and complexity. Thank you for sharing your passion with the rest of us. I can not wait to see the next episode as you detail. What is the DCC system you are using? I didn’t recognize it and not sure if it’s available in the State. Merry Christmas
We know things are bad - worse than bad. They’re crazy. It’s like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don’t go out anymore. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we are living in is getting smaller, and all we say is: ‘Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials and I won’t say anything. Just leave us alone.

The irony.
Thank you!🔥🔥
Hell yeah man! This is a great example of why I love this hobby. Not only is it a ton of fun but it can also be a work of art!
Thanks :]
@Freestylemoba No problem. What mobas do you play? Ever heard of Predecessor?
Huge applause to all aspects of your project in all aspects. As I was watching one thing that occurred to me as a model railroader myself. Does the multiple levels make track cleaning a bit challenging or how do you combat and handle this or other maintence tasks?
This man's video offers so many reasons why all young people/children should be intruduced to the world of model railroading. So many positive thing's to yield, especially for younger people.
Thank you a lot🔥🔥
I have already built several maintenance openings and still have plans to get into all corners later!
Hallo David. Klasse.
Wow. The volume of top tier talents, skills, training, and expertise that are absolutely required before one could even dream up such a project is definitely worthy of consideration as pointed out by a post below talking about the resume and job interview demonstration.
Lots of visibly demonstrated and externalizable "strengths" here like, start to finish vision, planning and conceptualizing, building a plan to methodically build such a project, recognition and management of a web of complex and interactively required elements and systems for which each of them required their own plans, the patience and attention to detail in the execution of the plan, quality controls to prevent errors from being realized too far into the construction to fix or correct, the ability and skills to do the video capture and media content creation
There was a time in the US maybe 20ish years ago where the big deal in education was project oriented demonstrations for student's "portfolios. I'd say that this project in its totality is a near perfect portrayal of the goal of that movement. It even includes the hobbies. What do you do for fun? Model Trains..
This is pretty much astounding.
The sheer mountain of intricacy and quality is amazing. The design is incredible. Really well done, my friend.
Big Thanks :]
This is the first time that I have seen this incredible HO layout. I can't wait for the landscape to begin. Lots of work to complete this incredible layout. Mike HO from Australia
Thanks! New things coming sooon, stay tuned ;]

Thank you!🔥🔥
That is such a gorgeous project, so far. I can't wait to see it all completed!
Thanks! :]
the drive, the precision, the attention to details, such clean workspace, you must be Dutch or German 🙂
but above all exemplary workmanship, I love the Window'95 background!!!
Thank you!🔥🔥🔥
Greetings from Germany ;]
The efficiency with which he paired the socks in the drawer was quite admirable.
Nice to hear your stories. Sometimes you shouldn't set your sights too high. I hope you enjoy your layout construction.
Beste greetings!
Thanks!
Stunning. Congratulations. The dedication is above and beyond. Thank you for this video.
Thank you! :]
Wie genial bist Du denn? Geilomat👍👍👍
Das MINIATUR WUNDERLAND in EINER PERSON.

Coming sooon :]
Man I give you so much respect for you patience, creativity, and determination! This was amazing and beautiful
Thank you! :]
Excellent job...can't wait to see it "finished"!! (MODEL RAILROADS ARE NEVER FINISHED) There is always additions. Good luck!!
Youre right! It will be never finished ;] Thanks!
Great layout. Eagerly waiting to see your automation ideas: time-tables, sequences, …
Excellent. Your electrical work is fantastic and very structured.
Thank you! :]
truly a kind of a masterpiece here - blown away by this dedication!
Thanks man! :]
I'm just speechless, this required plenty of hard work, dedication, discipline and Time, this is just two years in terms of your various skills! guess it for others
This worth millions of view and still not enough!
Just wanna say congratulations from a diorama maker who really understands the level of this work ❤
Thank you! :]
I’m an Army Brat who lived in Bavaria four years from like 4-8, I always tell my family I miss the train travel the most.
Ingenious idea coupled with very skilful building talents - superb.
Thank you!🔥
Hallo David,
Im just seeing this video, cause my son wants/asked to build an N-gauge layout in corner of his room. We are NOT going to ANY of this level, but you have to be in awe of how this man mapped, planned, built, and brought power to this immaculate layout. Flawless construction techniques. Extremely impressive. If my sons turns out 1/10th this good, i will be happy.!!
Thank you! :] Hope you will enjoy youre layout like me!
This was an amazing time-lapse video to watch. so satisfying!
Absolute super build
Thanks! :]
This is truly a fabulous layout. You are to be congratulated for your design skills, construction abilities, talent and the patience required to stay with a project which requires consistency of care. Very enjoyable watch.
Thank you! :]
Great job😎
16 Years ago My son's and I built a 3 level layout, ran 5 trains, had mountains, river, lake, tunnels, even had a military base, tons of buildings, roads, cars, trucks, people Etc...Was very therapeutic, I miss it a lot. We moved had to take it down a few years ago. Gave everything to a neighbor kid who was into train's.
Maybe you will restart someday, and make a great Layout! For now you have a happy neighbor Kid! :]
Oh wow! That’s a lot to have or to choose to give away! That was really kind of you!
Vielen lieben Dank! :]
Incredible video, loved watching this. Thank you for producing this video! Truly amazing work.
Big Thanks! :]
Thank you! 🔥It will take some more years to "finish" the layout ;]
The words honor me very much! Thank you very much! :]
Passion combined with relentless persistence. And art. What a rare display of love.
Thanks :]
Vision, patience, technique, skill, and a keen eye for how best to record the process. Bravo sir.
Big Thanks :]
Big Thanks for youre nice words :]
Im using the LENZ Digital System! And the TrainController Gold Software.
Greetings!
WOW truly amazing! Beautiful layout. I can't wait to watch your other videos.

Thank you! :]
Amazing labour of love, very impressive! Thanking the RUclips algorithm for bringing me here.. Greetings to my fellow men of culture!
Thank you!🔥 and welcome to FreestyleMoba!
Very nice. Very enjoyable video.
Thanks :]
Thanks a lot. Great work and video about the work done. Hello from Moscow. Russia.
That’s part of the problem isn’t it? Get out of your house. Make yourself a better person. Have a positive effect on the world. And for Gods sake throw the f’in tv out. Seriously. I can’t possibly tell you how terrible it is in a RUclips comment. I don’t have the space lol.

I think you are missing the point by overlaying your maligned thinking with this man’s enjoyment and fulfillment with his hobby.
@@DefaultModeNetwork”Well, I’m not gonna leave you alone. I want you to get MAD! I don’t want you to protest. I don’t want you to riot - I don’t want you to write to your congressman, because I wouldn’t know what to tell you to write. I don’t know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first you’ve got to get mad. (shouting) You’ve got to say: ‘I’m a human being, god-dammit! My life has value!’
So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell: ‘I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not gonna take this anymore!’

Awesome Build you are a master builder new sub thx for sharing.😊😊👍👍
Big Thanks! :]
Fantastic planning and construction. Will be great fun to operate.
Thank you :]
You were working so fast rolling around in your chair, I thought I saw a seat belt!
No way ... ;]
You did an amazing job and this video is so fun to watch every step off your building process! 😃👌🏻👏🏻
Nice to hear :] thank you!
Amazing
Just awesome, great job and a great video. I am exited to see the "finished" one with landscape and all the details...
Thank you! :]
That is incredible!! You must be a very talented and skilled craftsman. Bravo!!
Thank you!🔥
What an excellent project, and what an excellent video! Brilliant work, thank you for sharing.
Thanks, I feel honored :]
@@Freestylemoba Truly mate, I mean it. I saw a comment on here that was critical of what you’ve achieved and I thought “what a nasty prat to post such a comment.” It’s your layout, it’s your choice how you model it and in my opinion, you have done this amazingly well. I am about to start my own project which I hope will be a similar size and complexity to yours. I doubt it’ll be of similar quality to yours but you know what, I don’t care because it’ll be mine! I congratulate you again on the excellence of your work.
Ein sehr schöner Zeitvertreib! Ein fetten Respekt an dich 👍👍👍
Besten Dank! :]
