i got these in the standard grip for my MagnaCut blade. They flame anodise very nicely.
Maybe you know this by now but the screws that hold the backspacer have a big impact on action too-it’s not just the pivot. This is true especially for the one closest to the blade
Yo! Great looking knife, the housing/case reminds me a bit of a Kershaw knife I have had forever. Really digging it.
Thanks man! Yeah, it’s a badass knife for sure 😉
When I put my brass scales on the pocket was tight but I had blade play. The action was great but there’s ways blade play. I had to really crack down on the pivot and it finally had no blade play but keep the great action!
Oh awesome I’m glad you got it nice and tight! I ended up sending these scales back. Couldn’t get rid of the rattle
I put OG aluminum scales on my DEKA last night. They're a game changer
Oh hell yeah! I did the same thing. It’s a different knife!
The jimping is what drew me to the Manix 2, I have the REC EXCLUSIVE Avacado...which is for sale btw...
I just want the plain version with black G-10 scales and a set of full size Ti scales that I can swap out when I get bored with the G-10 scales.
Really! The avacado version is highly sought after..
I’d recommend these Rockscale design scales but I have a weird rattle in the locking mechanism when I put them on.. I emailed them so we’ll see what they say
Personally I prefer the AWT scales for the manix. They have some jimping, skinny mod, delete the liners and lanyard tube but still has holes for a lanyard. Uses a pin down there for support because the lanyard tube is gone. They have a little texture on them. And they’re aluminum. So they’re lighter. I love them on my manix.
Yeah I ended up switching to AWT
The Manix is my favorite Spiderco...both versions.
I really want these scales specifically the ones without the milling just like these, did you ever get your problems sorted out? I did notice in another video you went back to the factory scales. Thanks !
I could never get rid of the rattle, sadly. I really like the scales too but just couldn’t handle the rattle and movement of the ball cage lock. So I’m sending them back for a refund.
Check ball lock if it’s upside down t
These scales without a 3rd screw by the lanyard hole are unreliable, completely unacceptable to me. The first time I used used them, I never carried the knife outside the house.
I'm using AWT scales until I can get the proper tools to drill a hole correctly for the screw.
You probably didn't tighten the scale screws in tight to get rid of blade play. Good job getting that done in 30min : )
Ya, I put the ball cage in backwards and assembled it fully... I actually did that twice lol
Yeah I’ve had great experiences with AWT, I’ll probably go with them. I ended up returning these
Not sure what didn’t seat right on the 1st reassembly. I’d be curious the compare the thickness of the stock liner and scale versus the new Ti scale. Get out you caliper and check it out.
Good idea. I’ll do some measurements tonight. I’m not sure what tolerances are acceptable and when it becomes an issue
it took me three hours to replace the spring and ti button , it kept popping out i finally put a small piece of tape to hold in place and then yanked out tape after done
Oh that’s a good idea! Yeah it’s a real pain!
Turned out beautiful, wonder why the blade play.
Oh I see now at the end. And I don't think I've ever fast forwarded through any of your vids and I do my best to let the ads play. #Dedication
That’s why you’re the real MVP!!
And yeah I got rid of the blade play but the lock is still rattling. I emailed Rockscale, we’ll see what they say 🤷🏻♂️
I have the manix 2 lightweight. The scales seem to be riveted on, not screwed. Will these work on it? Do they come with screws? I have no problem doing out the rivets, but the new scales would have to accommodate screws somehow.
You know im not completely sure. Usually it says in the listing of the new scales if they are compatible or not. But usually the Spydercos with rivets are not interchangeable
Yeah wish there was a way to get rid of the lightweight scales .
Did you manage to sort out the blade play? I'd guess it was because you were tightened down too much on the screw off to itself.
Never mind, I finished the video. But that's my guess, that the pivot couldn't tighten down flush because of the screws further down the scales.
if going with linerless scales, can you just not even mess with the lanyard tube and just pull the lock assembly and pivot out and transfer it to the new set? and discard(not throw away) the liners, tube, and stock scales? i ask be i will be attempting this in the near future myself and plan to go with a linerless set...i will say, i love the jimping on the liners
Hmm.. Theoretically that would work.. I think? Unless I’m forgetting about something I think that would work. But you’ll have to get yourself a new tube for the new scales
@@doodysdaggers i've just seen so many people struggle with that tube haha but yours wasn't too bad...some scale sets come with a standoff and just no tube...the fillers look pretty cool too...ill never use a lanyard so it's meaningless to me
@@paullmight42 yeah the fillers are cool. I have those on both my PM2s
I need a Manix in my life
Yes you do 😉
Looks like your package arrives today and I wish I would have sent my bugout for you to put back together because it's a bitch but I also am not mechanically inclined at all. Great video!
Nice!! Can’t wait to open that sucker. I’ll film the unboxing and upload it probably for Fridays video.
Axis locks are a bitch to disassemble!!
How did you get cut ?
During one of my cut test videos. You can see me cut myself here: 😉

I was wondering how those new scales would work. I see now. "Liner delete"
Yup! Only thing is, a lot of the jimping was on the liners. So you lose all that
Whats the weight?
I’ve since sold these scales so I can’t check
You remembered nothing 🤣🤦😂😂
Yeah pretty much 😂
