Nope. The original deco was superior. It matched Hot Rod's animation model colours better and didn't have the weird lilac shins and white paint on the hip flap which makes him look like he's wearing a skirt.
I hope that when/if we get an official MP Cyclonus, he will come with Nightstick, rather than having two separate versions. Takara doesn't have to worry about the mold, since they already gave Artfire Nightstick.
The difference being Cyclonus colour palette remained relatively consistent among the various media, so he should be ok as a single MP release with a Targetmaster. If they wanted to release _Armada_ based on the colour palettes of the many animation errors however, the sky is the limit....
I always imagine painting an F Body Trans Am like Hotrod and putting custom zoomies on it. Of course I’d have to be rich to do it, and my final custom touch would be the car having the voice box and saying the universal greeting when the engine turns on ,“Bah weep grah nah weep ninibon”.😎
I had the Hasbro MP Rodimus Prime... the knees broke on me and was very lanky.. Wasn’t impressed.. definitely see some of the transformation carryover.. Was put off buying something similar to that old design. .. This a much better improvement ... Simpler and cleaner.. Great video it helped me transform him
I'm a little disappointed they didn't do something with the codpiece, but other than that, all's good. I have the original release and the original Hasbro targetmaster, so no interest in this one unfortunately. I'm looking forward to Fanstoys' version. I am hoping Takara do another version of Rodimus at some point, one that just becomes the truck and doesn't rely on shellforming.
I do like the colors on this one. They could have just released some target maseters though. Since they just become weapons they wouldn't need to rerelease all the characters, just the Target masters themselves. Headmasters wouldn't work that way, but they could release a bunch of target masters for cheap, comparatively.
i Beamer releasing mp target masters would be a smart idea. The lower price point would also get more people into the line like the cars did with their lower entry level pricing. All this kind of stuff does is piss collectors off. Releasing the same figure again with more frills really reduces the value of the one everyone already bought.
The first one looks like a toy , the new one looks like a collectors figure, the dark color the bigger emblem and cold yellow color makes it look more like mature or something, now I'm even interested in getting this Masterpiece.
The legs are a combination of 1) AKOM being idiots who interpreted shadows as two-toned boots, and 2) the designers of this toy copying The Rebirth's Japanese broadcast so stupidly literally they based his colours on a degraded master where the light gray turned maroon.

If I got a MP Hot Rod, it would definitely be this one. I prefer the color scheme on this one, plus a Targetmaster is always a win.
