Summons were pretty strong in this game, they gave your party a full res and full healed as well. It's too bad that after you used all their gestalt the stagger meter restarts at 0 afterwards

He would have the moves [Water Rush], which is a pulsing charge forward. [Aqua Pulse] which is a kickflip with water jetting out to attack enemies from front and back. [Torpedo Rise] which is a somersault attack upfront and [Raging Waves] which stomps the ground and makes waves attack around Leviathan. And his Lv 3 tech is Tsunami, which is a large pillar of water being sliced down from the top to rave on all the enemies and flood the battlefield.
I went with Lightning, Fang and Vanille, controlling Lightning as a Ravager most of the time, occasionally switching to Fang. Oddly, controlling Vanille seems to draw way too much aggro and the monsters constantly interrupted my casting :/ On my first playthrough, I played Lightning, Vanille and Hope and it was a surprisingly powerful team... however, I can't bring myself to use Snow and Sazh, they just feel too weak.
I love fangs I currently have to fight sazhs but I love how hopes is named alexander while everyone else had a complicated name of some sorts except for snow and lightning
He becomes one of the most emotionally stable characters at the end of the game. The earlier bits of emo he has are the typical stage all teenagers go through when they are put under pressure XD

You know you don't need to leave at least one Gestalt point right? If you use Thunderfall (4) with only 2 points left it will still leave a point to perform the big one.
I'd say Lightning, Vanille and Fang's gestalt mode summon are the best due to attack homing in on enemies. Poor Alexander's gestalt mode's first attack is super terrible, 100% miss rate hahaha

When I go Commando, I always pick Fang (she's the strongest) or Lightning (I just love that girl). Blitz is pretty awesome, but I don't want to spam it all the time (feels cheap), and Sazh's other attack animations are painfully long :/ Besides, his stats are the worst in the game (around 1/2 of the other characters'), I guess that's why I always pick Vanille or Lightning as Ravagers. And I even made Lightning and Fang into awesome Synergists when going gets tough :D
Gawd this game was a nightmare grind. I couldn't get past Hope's Eidolon battle before becoming too ill to play anymore. Yup you read right: the game made me PHYSICALLY ILL!
Seeing these scenes is really beautiful and all, but the moment I saw these summons become horses, walls, motorcycles and shit like that, I lost it. Not to mention these summons are so useless damage-wise that you're better off without them.
Totally agree with you! In fact, I wished Squaresoft never ceased to exist... I LOVE FFIV remake and the After Years for example. Also the oldest Final Fantasy series up to VII. I loved IX too and VIII a tad less but still good. In fact the very moment when it became Square Enix things aren't really that what "Final Fantasy" truly stands for. A tale of LOVE, COMPASSION and EMPATHY fired up with beautiful music (which became a lot less good as well). I wish these old days can come back. I want a story again with true meaning , not some Transformer like action based killing game.

My favorites are the Shiva Sisters and Odin since IMO it's an out-of-the-box idea for Snow to have a twin summon instead of the usual single summon and they combine into a cool motorcycle. Odin is one of the more aggressive summons and he randomly spurts roses all around lol. And Hecatoncheir's final attack is so explosive it made Vanille came IYKWIM :P
Or that one time that Vanille and Sazh were in the Vile Peaks and Vanille was climbing a ledge, and Sazh looked at the wrong moment and almost saw her vajayjay. But the the Chocobo Chick was like: Nope. and essentialy attacked Sazh's face.
