I've been using Vridge for about a year now. The primary issue is tracking and drift. You have no positional tracking, only rotational. so no leaning or ducking. Which is a problem, since low res screens don't display text very well and often you may need to lean in to read text.... this is especially true of Elite Dangerous. You can buy an IR array and use free track to try and counter this issue with drift but it doesn't really fix it. Drift is where it loses track of where center is, so you turn to where you face straight ahead but everything is not straight ahead in game... a problem for cockpit games especially. Best game to play using vridge is Subnautica as it nullifies the effects of drift. I just bought an Oculus DK2 as they are on eBay now for around £120.
I bought this app awhile ago, I used it a few times, I'm on a high end smartphone through a wireless AC connection and it was just overall poor, native VR worked great (IE google cardboard based apps) but the tracking seemed bad when streaming games from my desktop to it through riftcat, stutter filled and finicky. It's fun to tinker with but it's not really practical.
High end system, 2015 flagship phone, wireless AC, the refresh rate/framerate/bitrate wasn't too much trouble. My issues mostly just had to do with the way Riftcat handles the gyro, it stutters and doesn't refresh frequently enough. Apparently very few phone models play nice with it.
Is it only for games or can you watch VR youtube videos and stuff through it too? I would love to be able to play games and watch videos without changing between riftcat and back to oculus home
I have three or four VR sets and none of them seem to provide the exciting new experience advertised. So now they all sit in their original packaging gathering dust.
If you can see discernible lag, that mean it will make you puke. Even when you cant tell lag, the latency maybe there. Unless you can get Async working or high enough framerate this is basically puke city

I bought Trinus VR and VRidge and for me at least VRidge is fantastic. I own the Homido HMD, and just bought a Bobo Z4.

it might lag from the internet connection, the phone screens refresh rate/ resolution, game resolution, computer specs, phone specs, etc..

You know what's funny, he got cardboard for $12bqnd I got a full vr headset for mobile that comes with everything you need for 3$ at family dollar
