    I have a 17 S 100D, (running ver 2024.3.15 FSD supervised v12) and ever since the last update, the car tries to auto park when I back into a space that has lines that the car can detect. In your case, there was not enough light hitting the tape in your garage. Once the sun hit the lines, it worked. I probably would have extended those lines outside the entrance of the garage as the average parking space in the US is about 20 ft long.

    Heres something interesting you could do for a video, so i tried this board one day and it actually worked. You can sit in your parked car with your phone on summon and drive it to points on the map you are not actually at. So you can essentially explore how summon would work through any parking lot for as long ad you like this would be neat to force it to do things that its not really designed for but would make for a interesting video

    Use white chalk drawing lines in front of the garage. So you put tape in the garage. Draw the chalk line out side the garage. The car should park it self there. You might need to draw a rectangle. Try just left right and top. You might need to draw the bottom too. I’m sure it will work cuz tons of sun light. Then use summon to get in the garage.

    • @techgeektesla
      @techgeektesla  2 месяца назад

      Great question!! I think it might depend on the angle of your driveway, the time of day you’re using it (angle of sun shining), the thickness of the lines, and quite possibly whether or not there is a perpendicular line in the back of the parking spot… For some people it might be practical. For me, at least in its current state, it is too slow and unreliable to use.

  • @rhmagalhaes

    I have the vision version.
    Problems I found:
    1) I made a blue line with tape (didn't recognize. Maybe with white it would work)
    2) the difference in height from the ground to the garage (about 1in) makes the front wheel resist and the car stops. I made a ramp and it worked.
    3) doesn't work on auto. Mine shows a stop when entering the garage (1 vehicle only) and the car stops there.
    It worked with pressing to summon. It stopped at the entrance and then on a second press it drove in perfectly.
    To go out is one press only.
    I always park back in.

    I have lines in my garage and My 2023 model Y is vision Only and one night it worked once when I already parked and tried to park again. The autopark P showed up. But never work again. Last Saturday I tried many times and if I put tapes on drive way like the parking lots it does see it and P showed up, but just can't show P in garage. Then I tried on a parking lot. If you park into a lot backwards, you will not see P on the lot behind your auto parked lot. So just not working. Still not sure how one night worked. And I gave up since it doesn't take too much effort to rear end park myself into garage since I already put lines on the garage floor. Not sure if anyone else want to try. So odd to me that cars with auto-park are so slow and awkward, especially Tesla. If the car knows where it is, the angle of the steering, and the position of the parking spot (with obstacles), it should be super easy. Super quick calculation and just execute with confidence watching for dynamic changes and minor updates if needed. What am I missing?

    • @techgeektesla
      @techgeektesla  2 месяца назад

      Right?! I agree. I think it will speed up in the future. It just isn’t practical enough today. The biggest issue I have w/ AutoPark, which won’t be solved in the future IMO, is the way it rotates the wheels while the vehicle is not moving. Dry steering may seem OK in practice, but the physics of it aren’t good at all. All that friction results in significant torque going to the power steering system & can prematurely damage components.

      Yes, very true. I, personally, would never use this. It's a lot slower than doing it manually, and it was very challenging for the cameras to finally detect the lines. But it worked! I'd have to test it a lot more to confirm that it's safe enough to avoid hitting the side of my garage upon entry since it's such a tight fit...

    • @tonyfromaus7855
      @tonyfromaus7855 2 месяца назад

      Two things might have made it harder than other situations might have it. Firstly the higher position of garage means the lines are not as visible to the car until it’s really close. Secondly there was no rear line…. perhaps it’s trained always on three sided parking spots. But very interesting vid thanks.

    • @techgeektesla
      @techgeektesla  2 месяца назад +1

      @@tonyfromaus7855 YES! I was going to say the same - my driveway is on a slight incline, which doesn't help. Also, the angle of the sun shining into the garage may have made it more difficult for the cameras to see the lines. I'm not sure about the rear line though - this is a really great hypothesis. I'll have to test it again (with some tape that isn't double sided next time!!!) and let you know. Thanks.
