amazing they have not figured out diagonal parking spaces by now. Dissapointing.

I think enhanced auto parking is a waste of money. I have been parking now for over 50 years and had no problems or incidents. So they can keep this feature and I will do my own parking, thank you.

The fact that you don't need it doesn't mean there's no demand.

It is not self aware , it works well until it needs to back up,,,,,then it becomes a brick !!!

It would be more useful if it can find a parking spot by itself downtown.

U need to start with software version and type of car-then begin. Also B4 & After screen shots or video would be so cool. Like here’s the old display and now here’s what’s new.

At 4:22 , this is not the best test for Autopark, because the parking lot is mostly EMPTY.
Can Autopark *back* *into* a diagonal parking space in a filled-up Lot? NO.

Interesting!! Sadly I think it will be sometime before my MYLR (Ryzen) will be able to autopark in the UK. Our supermarket car parks are much tighter than yours, often crammed and with slots barely wide enough for a Model Y!

When I was testing with FSD 12.3.4, I had to intervene using autopark at a Buccee's when it didn't seem to want to yield for a pedestrian that walked behind my car as it was backing in. Granted the pedestrian was stupid to walk behind me in that situation, but it did make me think maybe it has less awareness of surroundings when parking.

Love your videos…thanks…question…sometimes it backs into a parking space in one and sometimes it takes two goes ((needs to pull forward a bit and then then have a second try at parking)…in both cases, it could have made it in one go…I've noticed it taking two tries significantly more times when backing in on the passenger's side and usually makes it in in one go on the driver side…I have a MY with USS…have you noticed circumstances that require 2 goes vs one go when it easily could have made it in one go?

On the parallel park fail, I noticed the blue FSD icon was on. Did you somehow engage FSD while trying to continue the park maneuver?

No it turns the steering wheel blue to indicate that the car is in control during every auto park.

Here's an idea for the diagonal spots: Try driving so the car's direction is perpendicular to the parking space lines. That is, instead of driving straight down the lane, drive to one side of the lane or even into the parking space area and then turn so that you're heading toward the other side, at an angle to the lane. You'll need an empty area of the lot. I'm guessing eligible spots will show up. Hope that's clear.

So clearly, Tesla have some work to do, as the version of the software you’re running on, hardware 3 isn’t cutting it, and no amount of testing is going to solve this problem. This is a problem for the full self driving team to solve.
So I just got my 2024 model S and it’s running on hardware 4, and I have not tried this particular test, however, the auto park functions very well in normal situations meaning parallel parking and just straight backing into a parking spot, but it works very well with the high Fidelity cameras we have, and so I am not sure about parking in an angle parking spot, as I have not done that, so I can’t comment on something I have not tried myself. Cheers 🥂

Hello Ted. Autopark works well when backing into a space.
But Autopark does *not* *support* diagonal parking spaces, and they are everywhere. Disappointing.

@@DerekDavis213 Touché! So that’s true for now, but I am supremely confident that the Tesla FSD/Full Self Driving team can and will put in a fix for that, as I haven’t personally attempted a situation where I needed to park diagonally, but clearly it is something that needs to be addressed, and as I said, I am supremely confident that the FSD/Full Self Driving team will at some point fix along with a myriad of edge cases, and this points out why Elon said, “that solving full self driving is hard, as no one can simply copy what we’re doing without having to solve for these edge cases, as they’re calling them, otherwise you can never reach a level 4 or 5 case scenario where the car can do all the driving without human intervention. Cheers 🥂
