@@scoobydoo316us She’s among the most popular character in Marvel if not in X-Men. She’s a weather goddess and had an affair with Thor, and Thor’s is up there with Iron Man in popularity.
A lot of people just don’t understand how powerful of a character she is. Power isn’t limited to what we think of as weather, but literally the very concept of it. She basically controls and manipulates the energy and fundamental forces behind the very acts of the universe itself. Her power has even allowed her to manipulate space as in the literal concept, by opening portals or even healing a rift in a dimension. She isn’t even just controlling elements themselves, but literally all the energy that makes them and set them in motion. From thermal, kinetic, electromagnetic, solar, Potential, chemical, radient, radiation, Etc. If we’re being honestly she limits herself to weather cause she could just as easily control, almost any objects in the universe by commanding these energies alone. I think her powerfully explored might be fundamental forces manipulation. It would even make sense that her claustrophobia and past trauma is what keeps her from trying to manipulate more solid elements of the universe. Because if she could control all those energies through plasma, liquid, and gas mediums, then why wouldn't she be able to manipulate them through more solid ones. I theorize that it’s because her power basically makes her bond with any environment and use it as an extension of herself, i.e. why she feels the pain of nature around her. And it would make sense because she described that she bonds on a physical, mental and spiritual level. So maybe manipulating more solid states of matter and energy makes her feel restrained or trapped in a way. Maybe why she doesn't try! She may just be limiting herself more than we even realize.
My favorite comment! Most people assume it’s just controlling the weather. Noooo baby, she can manipulate the various energies that cause and create what we know as weather. And I love the fact that when her eyes shift to all white, she sees the world as energy. She is AMAZING!!!!
It’s not that they don’t understand…they refuse to acknowledge because she’ll be more powerful, as she was in the beginning, than those who does not look like her. They built systems to hold back Black ppl and Storm, a comic book character, is not immune to that same system either. They even try to avoid her Afro American family (her father’s side) because they want everyone to believe she’s solely African who are not as oppressed as Afro Americans are. They even destroyed her marriage to a Black man because it was against the pushed agenda and tbh they would’ve made her gay if we didn’t fight against it.
@@saierwe Yeah that’s how I feel about Jean Grey, Wanda, Carol Danvers, Hulk, Thor and Iron Man. Thor is Superman and Storm with the powers he has. They are all way too OP but atleast Storm just started becoming OP while the rest of em been played out
Fox always disrespected black comic characters. They rewrote Mystique as a center piece of the X-Men and shoved Storm to the background of every movie she appeared in.
Had nothing to do with her being black. They disrespected Cyclops and Rogue even worse imo. Basically anyone who wasn’t Hugh Jackman, and Jennifer Lawrence got screwed over.
@@Aureilius2112Rogue they definitely changed to fit their story but at least she was given a personality and an interesting look on how her powers affect her. Cyclops was sidelined by Wolverine as a leader, but at least there was aspects they stuck too. Storm was done dirty the same way those 2 where but worse and more. *You can't say a single thing was done right except her hair color* . EVERYTHING else was ignored and changed that only degraded her character. No personality, no story, no drive, and my god her morality and entire character was changed. She was a made into a villain. A villain. They almost made her a psychotic jailer in New Mutants and before the reshoots of Dark Phoenix she was on Magneto's side ready to kill Jean. Imagine Cyclops being made into a villain and willing to kill the X-Men. You can't because thats a brain dead take on the character but they did it to Storm. Like how was she not done worse lmao?? Did you not see the news that the original direct of X3 left because they had a script for Halle where Storm saves children in Africa and it was only an Exec trick to sign her onto the movie they'd then sthrow away? Like damn an accurate take on her history is just a trick, and when they actually try and develop her bacstory in Apoc they *erased her entire lineage, her own power, and portrayed thieves in Egypt get their fingers cut off like they're savages * I'm sorry that all screams of racism and *is* why she was done worse by far its not even comparable.
@@shepardoakenshieldprime3357I’m sorry but calling someone racist like you just did is absolutely despicable and disgusting. There is a very valid argument that Cyclops and Rogue were disrespected more than Storm. At least she win in X3 and has a major role, not written completely out. Regardless of which character we think got disrespected most, the fact you called someone racist over it is so gross.
It's wild how even Thor acknowledges her as a goddess, he literally just called her Goddess of Thunder yet again in the comics. She gets her due in the books but WHERE is that love in the movies and other media?
R U COMPAING THE 2? STORM NEVER HAD A SOLO FILM, MUCH LESS 4. THOR DOES THAT OUT OF IMMENSE RESPECT; SHE’S INTERACTED WITH HIM AND the Norse gods on and off since the 80s but she isn’t a goddess nor would she want to be ultimately. She played that role b4 joining the xmen and it’s too much responsibility and and confinement. As much as she loves her people, she does not want to be forever captive of people, she’d eventually come to resent it
@@corriemayo2715 sorry about that. But I don't think it's a weird question especially out of context because how would someone know that from a comment section on RUclips?
@@corriemayo2715Well she became a Goddess in the Black Panther comics just last year by asorbing the faith of the Wakandans which activated her latnt godhead and is now known as Hadari Yao. So he didn’t call her that just out of respect. It is what she is, Hadari Yao- walker of clouds, the living storm, goddess of thunder.
As a storm fan, i understand what you mean by probably never seeing her done justice in live action. However, theyve been bending over backwards to ahow how powerful jean and wanda are. theyve only partiallly succeeeded in their case, but theyve still done more than with storm. They may not be able to show her at "max power" but yhwy can definitely do better.
I don't think it's "max power" that we have to worry about as much as "max personality." Usually, Storm doesn't have much to do with any of the stories of these movies. And when she is involved, she's just a mouthpiece for the plot rather than expanding more and telling more about whom SHE is and what SHE wants and likes! We don't see her enjoying gardening, flying through clouds, shopping, watching Peter paint or even enjoying an ice cream! She's got no love interests, no family, no personal connections to any of the schoolmates (except for maybe in X-2. And that was just to serve the plot!). She's never a fully actualized person.
The problem is that she is too powerful like Thor. If she use everything she has, she does not need the other X-men. She will be able to do everything alone. That is why, prior writers and warner have restraineed her powers.
@@_M.... yeah, but at least there is a precedent for Wonder Woman not being able to naturally fly. Wonder Woman couldn't FLY fly until the 70s or 80s. Up until then, she could only "glide on air currents", which is why she needed the invisible jet.
Whose here after 97 Where they just absolutely did wonders for Storm in terms of her getting to do something and her even having her own theme song it’s great Storm is slaying rn
She is part of a team. She has had her moments like others. What in THE STORY makes you say she hasn't had her moments. Wonder why She is the one that deserves it in your opinion. Be honest.
Because she is way more powerful than Zeus and Dr.Doom.They envy her power to an extreme level.Men who would normally fancy her attack her because they envy her phenomenal power.
Because she is the most beautiful among the Angels and the trannies envy her like crazy. Also she is too powerful and everyone hates her for that. She no longer receives orders but she wants to finish what she started.
I think we’ll only get a maxed Storm if she were to be possessed. She self-controls too much but for good reason. Would be great to see a darker Storm go crazy on everyone.
Dont forget Storm is the one who breathed life into the new mutant planet during the Gala (really epic if you havent seen it) she also has the ability to feel the changes in the atmosphere as well so i was super confused on how she wouldn't of been able to stop that speedster in X3
Lol no. Doesn’t have the cojones to do the character justice. HBO where the excellent series watchmen WAS produced would be a great place for a storm series

Looking forward to more Storm and Starfire content. I wish that Marvel would make some adult themed X-MEN anime movies that don't exactly have to revolve around existing stories.
I felt Xmen Evo did her pretty well, she was consistantly showen to be one of the strongest mutants, she almost destroyed the world when she got posessed, she outright bodied Mystique in the 1v1 fight to determine the strongest mutants, and she ended up one of the 4 horsemen, the most dangerous one at that they never stopped her, she was wrecking them all.
I think the most powerful we've ever seen her be in the movies was X-2 where she effortlessly created all those tornadoes to combat those fighter jets. But, yeah, they could be treating my good sis better
would say X-3 and days of future past are more satisfying to see visually then X-2 cause that scene feels a bit tonedeath with how casual she created those tornados
I highly recommend the two part episode of X-Men TAS, "Savage Land, Strange Heart," where Storm is kidnapped to the Savage Land by Sauron who hypnotized her into letting her emotions rage out of control. It's a great episode because she manipulated the weather in ways that other X-Men had never seen before, thus highlighting her need to keep her emotions in check, which is referenced throughout the entire episode.
I agree with you 100% Halle Berry was only chosen for Storm because she was a big ticket actress at the time. Not because she was the best choice. They have always watered down Storm's abilities. And I agree that the 90s cartoon gave the best depiction of her character. Just like you said, I can't wait for a writer to do her justice! ❤
I hate this sentiment because Halle, the "big ticket actress at the time", understood how powerful Storm could be and fought for the character to have more to do every movie. She was the perfect choice. Angela Basset (whom someone people mention would be a good storm) turned the role of Storm down, she didn't understand the significance of a black female superhero at the time. Comic book movies were new. I'm so glad Halle got the role as she understood perfectly.
@slj0404 I wish they would’ve gotten Angela Basset yo play Storm. In the comics Storm was older than some of the other X men. She wasn’t as old as Xavier, but not a young mutant. Angela also had and still has a great athletic body to have played Storm. She also has the acting ability to pull off playing Storm.
@synthiamiller5990 I literally said the same thing! I agree with you. Although now it's too late after playing Queen Ramonda. I now need to dig through some actresses and see who else could be great. 🤔
Ultimately, she is like Magneto except without the limitation to magnetic metals. Storm could probably control the sun itself since it is mostly atmosphere. She is therefore kind of like Molecule Man except that her powers are connected directly to her emotions which makes it difficult to achieve fine grain control while also making her very dangerous if she looses control (like the Phoenix in Gene Gray). This limitation could in-story justify her nerfed presence and timidity in fights. As such, when your state of being is the weather then you are more like a personification of weather (or whatever) rather than someone possessing the power to control it. As such, she is a young goddess of matter and energy still learning herself. Might there be a Beyonder tie-in? :)
She’s simply not that powerful. I love Storm but the range and magnitude of her powers have limits. Between her and an entity like Dark Phoenix or Beyonder there’s just no comparison. Her control of weather is enormous but still less than a god like Thor.
@@jeffreyfettes Um, dude there has been a comparison between Storm and Dark Phoenix during Astonishing X--Men when she was trapped in that metal by doom and she went wild angry...it took her team to remind her of not losing control like Jean Grey.
@@ZeeB... Yes but the comparison was more her losing control of her great power. Her top power level is just nowhere near Dark Phoenix. Or perhaps all the times the X-Men clashed with the Phoenix Force they were just holding Storm in reserve? Again I love Storm! But part of the fun with these characters is their limitations too. Remember Storm was as interesting without her powers as she is with them which wouldn’t be true for Jean.
I think she is one of the most Awesome characters ever created in the comics. I have been a fan of her since I first picked up an X-Men comics when I was a teenager. She has been one of my top 5 favorite characters if not top 2. Great Video!
4:41 I mention that she breathes in space by drawing in oxygen and hydrogen. I sort of misspoke, since hydrogen wouldn't help her breathing lol. She was using hydrogen atoms to setup her attack on Silver Surfer while also utilizing oxygen atoms to breathe in space.
I have often thought that the character Storm is modelled on Oya, Nigerian Goddess of the Yoruba people. She commands the wind, lightening, the waters and skies. Truly a force of nature. I’ve always been a fan and feel that her portrayal on screen disappointingly underplays her true power and qualities.
When Angella Bassett didn’t take the role of Storm and they chose Berry that was the beginning of the end. I agreed with everything you stated in your video. Storm was the bomb in the comics and the character was never really given the chance to show her full potential in the live action movies. Would be nice if they did a Storm movie with good writers
xmen red has really been firing on all cylinders recently with her flexing big moves. i also think it's critical to emphasize that her primary characterization these days in the comics you will never see in other media: she is a stone cold bad-ass. i seriously think that anyone trying to portray her in film should have a long sit down conversation with chris claremont.
I think the guy that did the black panther movies could do a really good movie about Storm. Thats they only way because other Hollywood directors failed storm excessively
Here's a good move for Storm, she could create an atmospheric lens bubble in the stratosphere focusing sunlight to create as big of an event as an a nucular bomb on the surface as she pleases. Hardly green friendly but no nucular radiation byproducts and you cant have everything.
I would like to point out that you can't use a stationary lens to focus sunlight to heat up a point to hotter than the surface of the sun. There's an XKCD about this where he discusses whether it's possible to light a candle with moonlight using a magnifying glass.
Bro I usually say this and never saw someone else think this too 😂. Hell she wouldn't even need to focus anything she could also simply just open a hole in all the different sphere's and just let the raw effects of the sun do its job and If she feels it necessary add some solar winds
@@okaythen1402 No, the atmosphere bubble lens would allow her to focus 1000 square miles of sunlight into a yard of target. Opening a hole in the atmosphere from space to surface wouldn't give anywhere near that power. Of course it would create one heck of a super tornado.
I've heard she can see with the "eye of the storm". She's in constant awareness of the atmosphere and thus can see through it. Also... If she can control the electricity in a brain... She could technically control the mind if she fine tuned her manipulation of one. Like if she does something in the hippocampus, she could affect memory etc. That would be very interesting.
@@ravonderelle and the fact she's the strongest will almost of all marvel superheroes she's unaffected by reality warping trickster as long as she's strong-willed
I thought they've been letting her cut loose in the current comics as she wipes the floor with 2-3 Omega level mutants?? Also a storm that wipes out the planet?? They got Thor if that ever starts to happen. Great video and hopefully she will get more justice as she is beyond omega level.
I'm all for a powerful Storm! I love seeing her pop off and do interesting things with her powers. However, I also understand reigning her powers in a bit to a less planetary scale. For one, she's a member of a team of numerous members! So she has to be powerful enough to help, but not so strong that she could solo any and every threat. But, also, the cartoons, movies and TV shows don't have the same power creep problems that the comics have. So Storm wouldn't have the opportunity or need to express these one-off, super extreme usages of her powers like using rain and wind to bend light and turn herself invisible or breathing in space or using lightning and wind to breathe underwater or using the air in your lungs to create a miniature hurricane inside of you.... ALL OF THAT mess is purely just for comics because they have to constantly try to one-up their previous feats. They constantly have to create new threats that are unlike threats they've faced before in order to keep the stories from feeling stale. And that means the X-men themselves have to use moves and abilities they'd not done before to succeed.
Storm is Mother Earth, Black Girl Magic, a thief child, gorgeous, sexy, supportive of others and EVERYTHING. I met Marvel artist Paul Smith when I worked in a comic book store in the 80s. I have a great story about Storm art from Paul. Please like my comment if you want to hear it.
Truth. I started collecting comics back in the late 70's. The X-men from very very early on. Storm has never be shown justice in any of her incarnations outside of the comics.
The comparisons to Superman makes sense. Lots of superheroes are STRONG STRONG, like Storm and Superman you mentioned, but Thor, Wonder Woman, Scarlet Witch, Dr. Strange, the Flash and even Spider-Man to an extent. It can be tricky to balance them out in situations. Comics put all these guys on top and still lets them struggle. In TV shows, Storm and Flash are strong, but get knee-capped hard. Like JL had Wally nerfed hard. At least Storm got to completely mollywop Mystique in Evolution.
Lol very true. I'm realizing as I get older that the limitations of non-comic mediums aren't gonna be fixed by better graphics like I thought when I was younger. But every now and then we get a decent outing for what it is, like you pointed out.
Wally used his full powers at their full potential in JLU S2 finale. And Storm showed her powerful she was in an episode of X men the animated series from the 90s. Yes she was under mind control but still...
God what A day! Intellectual conversation on comics, love it!!! We like Greek philosopher's on some Super Hero ish!!! love it I've theorized for a while that it's because of Xavier that a lot of Xmen aren't at full power. Lots of Xmen have troubled past and would be villains if left uncheck. Like Wolverine and Storm. I think Xavier has a clamp on Storm, a constant mind control to subdue his Xmen from going completely dark as many of them tether between good and bad. They face persecution, in this case literal racism, and the have to save the same people that torture and exclude them and continue to do so. It's tough and most of Xmen are still finding out who and what they are. I thinks in Storm's case Xavier might be a reason she cannot be at full strength because he knows them. He know there heart both dark and light, so I think he keeps a certain control on her. Because Storm can blow out the sun, space has wind, so in theory Bye Bye Superman. I agree when bias aside. Among The most Powerful Mutants period, FO' SHO!!!
I'd like to add one more point to what you mentioned. You're correct that she has the ability to manipulate open spaces, but it's worth noting that the space she manipulates must have natural weather patterns. She can't create weather patterns in a location where there are none. This limitation became evident when she nearly lost her life in the desert, as deserts lack typical weather patterns like rain, etc so she nearly died of dehydration.
@@StormKoriHQ she can use air pressure in tight spaces to shatter her enemies like she did in her series X-Men Red or Storm and The Brotherhood one of those. Her air pressure has been said to maybe even be similar to telekinesis itself.
Well she does have the ability to summon weather in deserts however she’s aware that by bringing rain where there is non can potentially cause a drought somewhere else. I don’t agree with this statement.
I think the problem in regards to Storm is that there are actually times in the comics when she is shown more powerful than she actually is, or to be more correct she is shown capable of having a greater effect than she can actually do without major repercussions. I remember she was asked one time why she didn't just fix a drought that a village was having using her abilities. I've never forgotten her answer, she explained that with her powers she could very easily do that, she could make that village and the area around it into a veritable paradise, the problem is she's only able to work within the bounds of what exists. Such as the atmosphere only contains a certain amount of water, if she was to alter the weather patterns to bring rain to that village she'd have to be taking it from elsewhere. I think that's one of the problems that some writers for Storm tend to forget, she doesn't have the power to create elements she can only manipulate what's already there. A lot of writers ignore this fact when they want her to do some amazing feet like your worldwide storm.
Matter of fact I just found another page that makes this point, during the whole "Dr Doom turned me into a Chrome statue" incident. When she's freed and she's going apeshit, she flies into space to release the energy and says "If I were Thor I could disperse this storm with a thought. But I must work with the forces of nature, not ride roughshod over them, and gently shape to my will."
@@StormKoriHQ To me that quote showed how Storm in many ways is the epitome of what the X-men stand for. Whereas most X-men only have to worry about the perception of people not in their local area, Storm has to worry about the very real physical effect her powers have on everyone in the world any time she uses them.
@5:15 Beautiful said - it takes a great writer to make Superman struggle, make him fail without nerf his powers. Most comics sometimes nerf the character's abilities because they can't create scenarios where he is struggling without stripping him of his powers. This is why they nerf Storm so badly in the films which I hate.
When Dr Doom encased Storm in metal that didn't stop her powers, it actually magnified her abilities and when Wolverine was able to free her, she became ROGUE STORM and could've killed Dr Doom.
Good video another thing also, I never see a lot of people talk about it that she can manipulate the weather, but she can't make it perfect universally all over the world. Why? Because she's manipulating the existing weather, when she takes rain from one area to water another, the other atmosphere is without it. And she's also known to manipulate the weather, even when there's no danger, not just to make it comfortable, but the replenish the earth by moving it around. It's interesting, too, they never touch on that but when she's creating hurricane and trees are getting ripped up, there's a reason why you never see animals flung around or birds and squirrels. She actually makes it a point to start slowly if possible to allow them to run away, and then intensify. For example, creating a hurricane, and one specific spot without ripping it from another section or slowly dragging it around it, destroys everything it really shows she has a very strong control factor. I think one of the things if they ever do an X-Men properly, they need to showcase specific comic characters doing something heroic and massive with their powers rather than regurgitate when they're weaker/new to it. They're too heavily focused on giving everybody screen time that you never see them shine properly. (power wise). This actually allows multiple characters to use their powers, but it never looks impressive, rather than basic.
Great video dude, for a first on the channel it is produced and presented quite well. I'll stick around and see what else you got coming. Best of luck, lad.
Thanks for this. Nerfing Storm been my personal beef for as long as I can remember. But I can sympathize as a writer somewhat with the problem of telling a good story that does Ororo justice: 95% of the time, her going full out stops any conflict, so story’s over. I think lightning became a thing because it’s easy to draw and looks cool. But you have to get pretty creative to write about what could happen when someone can manipulate the molecules, electrons, and potentially subatomic particles in the atmosphere (including air pressure) and all those invisible forces that allow life to thrive and evolve. And what about dark matter? There’s a Chris Claremont retake on the X-Men (X-Men Forever) where Storm is split into 3 bodies. One is a child, one has gone missing (the original) and the third is evil after getting infected by the Shadow King, called “Perfect Storm”. Perfect Storm completely annihilates Wolverine, then blinds and almost kills Sabertooth. Afterwards she goes to Wakanda to escape capture and gets T’Challa killed by Erik Killmonger, who she then kills. She’s then free to take over the Wakandan throne. That was the only time I saw it shown how dangerous she could be when not restrained by moral concerns. Eventually she overreached and only the other two Storms could actually stop her. There are stories where writers did get creative: she once stopped a nuclear explosion using atmospheric pressure, destroyed the Blackbird while it was in flight hundreds of miles away and once was compelled to create a snowstorm that covered the entire Earth.
Storm is my favorite character in the X-Men cartoon n comic since 90s which is when I'm in childhood memories 😍 also Dark Phoenix/Jean Grey💖👍 I'm literally upset when saw the X-Men movies for real.. it's quite sad that Storm n Dark Phoenix as I know in the X-Men cartoon n comic looks weird n irrelevant in the movie 😢😓
I only saw the title and gave it a Like.. FACTS. FACTS, FACTS 100 AND 10,000%, that's I can't watch any of the X-men movies (that made her look weak) and barley like anything in the MCU dealing with the avengers and their wanna be rival to my girl Thor (Comic where she lost her powers and Lori gave her Thor's hammer and she rocked it). She was my girl from the issue they rolled out featuring the new X-men when Xavier found her in Kenya. Now some of these new heads thinking she's Moroccan (Shipp role in it was in Morocco) and not a black woman whose parentage is from US and Kenya. The studios and so called directors will not feature her because she's too strong a character, so they down play her role. Set these fools straight! How her character had been portrayed (except animated show) has been watered down to nonexistent.
Ororo Munroe is mutant whom the Source of her power is derived from African witchcraft. She comes from a long line of African witches able to wield raw arcane mystical magic, she also has a Faltine ancestor. Her great great great great many many many greats grandmother Ayesha who was the first human Sorceress Supreme received her raw arcane mystical magic from her mother whom was married to Ayesha’s Faltine father, Faltines r made of n have pure magic n have an energy form also able to travel the multiverse n their offspring r born with blue eyes n white hair. So Ayesha has ALL OF THAT plus another power, from Demiurge Goddess Oshtur. Oshtur gave the bloodline “Atmokinesis” (weather Manipulation), she gave the bloodline that gift n many other spells for worshipping her. Side note it should be noted they Demiurge God Cthon gave Scarlet Witch Chaos magic and his SISTER Oshtur gave Storms bloodline magic (jus saying Storm n Scarlet Witch both have the same level magic given to them by Demiurge Gods). Storm is also the fulfillment of Oshturs prophecy of an “earth born sky goddess”. This is why Storm was drawn on the wall hieroglyphics n Egypt thousands of years b4 she was born, she was prophesied as the Sky Goddess. Her goddess name “Hadari Yao” means “walker of clouds n protects the balance of all natural things”. Magic is Storms birthright even tho she doesn’t embrace it it’s the source of her powers which is why her witch powers have developed even tho she doesn’t practice. The Scarlet Witch sensed the magic in her telling as Storm told her “I’m not practicing sorceress” to which Wanda said “the potency of ur birthright dwells in u nonetheless” aka jus cuz u chose not to practice doesn’t stop u from being a witch. While helping Wanda on a mission Storm saw right through n cleared a fog Wanda observed n let Storm know the magic fog was created to keep the island hidden n the fact that she could still see through it, that was Storms magic coming out letting Storm n the readers know that her magic/witchcraft been developed and surfaces whenever the situation calls for it unbeknownst to her or us. As I said Storm has that’s gift of godhead passed down from her ancestors making her the strongest of her bloodline yet.
people complain about DC characters being too powerful like superman or the flash. But the marvel characters are too powerful as well, Magneto, Wanda, Jean , and Storm. It's ok if she control rain, wind , lightning, ice and so forth, but giving her the power to control that power even in outer space is a little bit too much. Writters must strugle to come up with good challages for these insanely powerful characters.
OMG THANK YOU FOR THIS! I too am a Storm fanatic and I’ve always felt this way. Movie directors and cartoon animators need to step it up and do better😫
I do understand your point and i would love to see her at much closer to full power, but not for the reasons you've necessarily laid out. When it comes to characters' power levels and "full strength" it becomes very stupid when the highest level that we see in the comics is something like Storm or even Magneto, where they are literally unstoppable due to having omnipotent powers that are unstoppable, nullifying all weaknesses or challenges they may face. So i don't think them being "nerfed" for adaptations is a bad thing. Instead, they should have their full breadth of power, instead of their literal full power, where the limit is their in-universe knowledge and application of the powers, such as storm using her power to control moisture to make it rain, even indoors, allowing the short circuiting of machinery, or the manipulation of pressure in the atmosphere in her immediate vicinity to do some trucky stuff she may have learnt from experience or studying atmospheric phenomenon. Wanting a character to completely own any competition they come up against i think isnt interesting at all, however her powers being somewhat tied to her emotions IS interesting, as sheer instinct can take over and do things even she may not know how to do and she then becomes pure destruction. So i agree with you that she shouldn't be limited as much as she is, but instead of that being because she's not strong enough and can't solo everyone she comes up against, it should be more emphasized that it removes the creativity from her powers and subsequently her ability to grow and advance her powers and character. Great video man, i love your channel, focussing on two of the most interesting (and prettiest) characters from their respective franchise.
Do yall remember when Dr.Doom decided to incase her in steel and she finally went GOD mode. I've always thought that being she became was a force of pure manipulative energy, equal to the power of the Phoenix. Able to summon and control the full potential of both creation and destruction. Let us not forget her mystical dynasty. Ororo, the redhead, and Wanda are the true Trinity.
Not to mention that in X-Men Red the black hole tried to offer Storm to be her true self as an elemental goddess but Storm refused it because she didn't want to lose her humanity and she seen how truly powerful and dangerous she could really be.
Hell yeah my girl Storm! And you right in life action X3 has been the closest form not to a full potential but close to at least let it lose because at the time I remember they said the reason why they couldn't use form like that is because of all the special effects in choir which is just like really it's weather It shouldn't be that damn hard. But I will say there has been moments in the cartoon show that really do show her full potential
STORM is the strongest of all X-Men and Mutants on Earth. She is the most respected and prominent Mutant in the comics. She is an OMEGA level Mutant, pretty much the daughter of Mother Nature Herself. STORM needs her solo movie now.
She is OP, movie and animated tv writers needed to nerfed her so she won't overshadow other characters. Even her flight speed in movies is unbelievably slow, where in comics she flies faster than the speed of sound. She never glide the air using wind molecules, she can actually fly. Just correct me if I'm wrong, but it's impossible to beat Ororo Munroe if writers won't nerf her. She can even kill Jean and other Omega level being in a clever way.
The only weakness of Storm is that weather can take a while for it to summon, like when summoning a hurricane, she has to be in tune and is left somewhat vulnerable. In battles, she has to rely mostly on lightning and wind gusts to quickly attack her opponents.
Halle Berry's Storm really didn't showcase her true power until X-Men Days of Future Past. By then I really wanted to see more of her taking on the Sentinels.
You'll never see most characters treated properly. Doom is a sorcerer on the level of Doctor Strange. Magneto has shown he can control the iron in blood by making Cyclops' blood run backwards for a moment (damn near killing him) - so why doesn't he just pull the blood out of everyone's body? Kitty can PHASE WHILE HOLDING PEOPLE. What's to stop her from taking Wolverine by the head and phasing his brain into some surface and letting go? No one thought of just how absurd many of these powers were when the characters were created.
I feel ya! Storm is my all time favorite character from the Uncanny X-Men comic books. I especially loved her "street" look with the mohawk hairdo. She had street combat ablities as well. One time leader of the Morlock underground mutant group as well. She is more powerful than this MCU Captain Marvel as well. I don't have good vibes for the MCU taking over the Marvel X-Men property. They will screw it up just like Fox did as well.
I completely agree with you as for Storm's representation in video media of all types. I do not completely agree with you on how her powers should be presented, however. Using real world physics as our base for weather events, to whip up a hurricane from a 1 to a 5 takes just under 24 hours in near perfect conditions. With her powers, such a storm increase would still take time but would be at perfect conditions throughout the process, so say 1/4 the time of a natural event. So, bringing in fog over a large area quickly would be easy with access to the right conditions to start with but may take hours or more depending on the natural weather conditions she starts with. Of course, with planning she would be able to make sure conditions where fit for a given plan. You can still see why this would limit her powers potential for display in live media. It's not just creating weather; it's moving the conditions for that weather around on a large scale. Even to make a local storm would require moving winds over a continental scale. What would be truly fascinating is if they showed this aspect of her powers by showing us the "weather" readings taking place from the point of view of the national emergency system during even moderate use of her powers. Just setting up the conditions for a supercell to be able to form over New York for example would set off alerts like crazy due to the rarity of the event normally.
Honestly, I don't mind the nerfing, it's a bit like Superman in the shows. Comics have a advantage as basically each book comes with a Avatar lineage of context to that where they don't need to worry about set-up or escalation as for the most part, people had just accepted comics as comics. Where things don't NEED to escalate or go up in scale, which can vary widely depending on a multitude of things. It's harder, for TV Shows and such to do the same as, no only do they have to worry about introducing people to the concept, setting, and the character and such, but keeping things in a sense of escalation. So if Storm is full powered, it's going to be difficult keeping that pace of progression if Storm can just summon a country destroying storm. As it basically forces all the enemies they face to practically be Omega-level-mutant or else they should get wiped on the spot, outside of some small hurdles to jump over. It's why often in TV Shows the characters "True potential" is often saved for Season Finales as there's always some excuse of why they don't do it all the time (Like how in the JLU Flash beat Luther going so fast he was running around the earth in a second, and etc.) I don't mind it, as long as they keep the scaling of such character consistent. I don't need Flash to be casually traveling through time with his speed alone, but I better not ever see Batman casually keeping up with him in a straight fight.
I agree that it's much harder to write outside the comic book medium, but even if she just had a couple "cut loose" moments I'd be good. Even Superman has been given a chance to really flex every now and then.
tbh, as an artist and fan of female super heroes. I cannot help but just come up with a concept and story board of her using her powers properly and put her in a leadership role. I see so much potential when i come up with concepts of her in my head
She's my most favorite superhero since childhood. MCU should leave her alone even if she's underrated because they'll just end up destroying the character like what they've done so far with characters I won't mention. I like the way she is because it makes me want to see more of her.
Once I found out what the OG storm looked like I was like wth if this storm was a chocolate beautiful strong and very powerful person and they definitely made her out to be more of a background person that really didn’t matter much until like u said it was time to get away and she make the weather act up

Why? Over some others? I like her but what in her STORY makes her more deserving for a solo movie.
I dont think she likes being portraited as black

@@scoobydoo316us The story is fake.Storm is Lara Croft.
She is AMAZING!!!!
even when she lost her power, she was still a force to be reckoned with great at hand to hand and a skilled thief when need be.
Didn't ever understand why she was considered so powerful but even after this explanation I still think she is properly rated!
They rewrote Mystique as a center piece of the X-Men and shoved Storm to the background of every movie she appeared in.
literal trash
Had nothing to do with her being black. They disrespected Cyclops and Rogue even worse imo. Basically anyone who wasn’t Hugh Jackman, and Jennifer Lawrence got screwed over.
@@Aureilius2112Rogue they definitely changed to fit their story but at least she was given a personality and an interesting look on how her powers affect her.
Cyclops was sidelined by Wolverine as a leader, but at least there was aspects they stuck too. Like he started leading in DP, he has his brother and Jean love interest, hating Logan is accurate and had his own personality and drive.

That is why, prior writers and warner have restraineed her powers.
honestly most female superheroes have been nerfed or nerfed in stupid ways on film. DC really gave us a Wonder Woman that can't fly.

She was born as a Primordial God.And she keeps becoming stronger .
I agree with you 100%
Halle Berry was only chosen for Storm because she was a big ticket actress at the time.
Angela Basset would be an awesome Storm
Janet Jackson was trying to get the role before it went to Halle Berry.

This is why our education system is broken

Here's a good move for Storm, she could create an atmospheric lens bubble in the stratosphere focusing sunlight to create as big of an event as an a nucular bomb on the surface as she pleases. Hardly green friendly but no nucular radiation byproducts and you cant have everything.
It's that kind of creative (and destructive) thinking that we need lol.
Yes. I swear
Storm is actually a literal goddess..... she can fly and control the weather? Powerful as hell.
I've heard she can see with the "eye of the storm". She's in constant awareness of the atmosphere and thus can see through it. Also... If she can control the electricity in a brain... Thank you for this. Storm always will be my favorite since I was a kid. I always knew she was an Omega before they announced it. Total boss!
Thank YOU, man! The real recognize real and we all recognize how real Storm's power is!

Bout TIME someone said it !!!! 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Such disrespect. Justice for Storm. Her power is great and she has complete mastery over it.
Can't forget on top of all that mutant power she can also perform and do magic.
MAD Love, Brother. I've been reading Storm since 75' and I've been a devoted fan ever since! Excellent vid on the magnitude of her powers.
I don’t think Spider-Man should be listed among the likes of Thor, Superman, and Storm.
God what A day! Intellectual conversation on comics, love it!!! We like Greek philosopher's on some Super Hero ish!!! love it
I've theorized for a while that it's because of Xavier that a lot of Xmen aren't at full power.
Good point. This also applies to different dimensions or realms. Can't control the atmosphere if there's no atmosphere to manipulate
@@StormKoriHQ
she can use air pressure in tight spaces to shatter her enemies like she did in her series X-Men Red or Storm and The Brotherhood one of those. Her air pressure has been said to maybe even be similar to telekinesis itself.
Well she does have the ability to summon weather in deserts however she’s aware that by bringing rain where there is non can potentially cause a drought somewhere else. I don’t agree with this statement.
Preach on my Brother. She is the Queen.
Its time to have Storm self movie instead of X-Men
I think the problem in regards to Storm is that there are actually times in the comics when she is shown more powerful than she actually is, or to be more correct she is shown capable of having a greater effect than she can actually do without major repercussions.
I remember that quote and even remember it being brought up in the cartoons, though I can't remember which episode.
Whereas most X-men only have to worry about the perception of people not in their local area, Storm has to worry about the very real physical effect her powers have on everyone in the world any time she uses them.
i love STORM... and they always let me down too...
Although it didn’t know much x men evolution brought great attention to her force. I thought it was wonderful.
I love your appreciation for Storm, she's 1 of my favorite super heroes. In so many situations Storm powers or not finds a way 2 push towards victory.
You're gonna wanna watch tomorrow's upload lol
Some times I wish she turned villain so she can really be unleashed.
I've said that as well
people complain about DC characters being too powerful like superman or the flash.
Same...life long die hard fan here too.
Thank you so much for making this
My pleasure ⚡ 🌨️
When you Hear the Egyptian God music in the background from Yugioh you know , things is real
Storm is an elemental Goddess. She was done dirty💯
4:07 Marvel Midnight Suns explicitly talked about this with storm.
It's a neglected topic.
I really wanted Angela bassett to play her !!!!!!!!!
Totally agreed with this video, I rather stick with the comics, thanks you very much.
A Storm movie is what we needed, not The Little Mermaid reboot.
She can even kill Jean and other Omega level being in a clever way.
exactlyy!!
But they have no problem with op white characters... how do yall say these things so backhanded...
The only weakness of Storm is that weather can take a while for it to summon, like when summoning a hurricane, she has to be in tune and is left somewhat vulnerable. In battles, she has to rely mostly on lightning and wind gusts to quickly attack her opponents.
wouldnt take too long to remove the oxygen out of your lungs , or mess with your electrical brain waves to blind you
She is also the strongest god of Chaos magick.
@@tyharris78 They never showed her utilizing those powers except in the comics.
@@sovarosepisthmwn2449no she isn't 😭
@@Wandasolosurfavs Storm 616 is a very,very strong God.
Halle Berry's Storm really didn't showcase her true power until X-Men Days of Future Past. By then I really wanted to see more of her taking on the Sentinels.
Even then, they didn't. Storm is supposed to be elite and hand to hand combat and weapons master. She stayed getting jet ass beat.
No one thought of just how absurd many of these powers were when the characters were created.
ororo munroe, the actual love of my life. Thank you!!
thank YOU!
It was kinda shown in the animated series in the 90's. But I totally agree they should really show her for what she is.
Thankfully we got Xmen '97
It's why often in TV Shows the characters "True potential" is often saved for Season Finales as there's always some excuse of why they don't do it all the time
(Like how in the JLU Flash beat Luther going so fast he was running around the earth in a second, and etc.)
I don't mind it, as long as they keep the scaling of such character consistent.
It is calked being kazy! They nerf them because they think being OP makes them boring which is BS and it needs to fucking stop.
GODDESS!!! 😩😩😩
tbh, as an artist and fan of female super heroes.
