I took the plunge and took mine apart, of the three fans I found, it was the one on the bottom right of the case that was making all the noise, so with nothing to loose I peeled back the sticker that said "Do not remove" to find a red powder like rust, I blow this off and put one drop of motor oil onto the bearing, replaced the sticker and fired it up, silence, its as good as new, 6 weeks later it is still running as good as new totally silent and it gets used every day.
lol I have the same problem. but I blasted the volume and could barely hear his fan, mine is not running wide open or high speed, just about half speed
Thanks to take your time to make the video issue and created the brainstorm on the comments, I disconnected the power cable and plug it again, FIX the issue..... Cheers Guys....
If you have replaced the HDD, it might be the reason why it is making that noise. it requires a connection to the Temperature sensor on the hard drive.
Hi there, I was wondering did you get problem fixed? I have been having the same problem and wanted to know if it's important to take it to the store. Thanks for sharing.
Mine does the same noise in sleep mode sometimes for hours. Is there a way to tell if the internals are too hot and require so much fan cooling when it is not doing anything?
You can stop the fan noise by a FREE download at either: *Macs Fan Control*: www.macupdate.com/app/mac/47386/macs-fan-control (They also have OLDER versions for 10.6.8 and 10.7 through 10.9.) *SSD Fan Control*: mac.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/SSD-Fan-Control.shtml
Mine started doing this as well. It has something to do with something called SMC. There was one fix that I did where I shut it down a certain way. Then unplugged it for a certain amount of time (like 15 seconds). Then when I turned it back on I had to hold the power button for a certain amount of time as well. Then it was quiet. however that didn't last for more than a couple of days. Then it happened again. I think there is an app that will control it better. Looking into it.
It's that little buzzing noise when u turn on ur computer normal? I have it too. Is it from the fan? The fan isn't really loud even when it's been on for a while tho.
hi there hv you solve out the solution? Ive got same problem my I Mac started noisy 2 days ago, still wondering whats wrong this Mac, let me know your experience about the problem, thank you
Well I downloaded smc fan control because iMacs get really hot. After about 7 mths of using it my fans are now very annoyingly loud even on default setting and sometimes I get some fan chatter. Help me please.
Mine started doing this after I changed the surge protector. Out of the blue my computer started making a VERY loud fan noise for the first time ever. I switched to another outlet and the noise stopped. I think it could have something to do with the current and voltage rating on the outlet. Don't spend too much money before trying this!!
I had this issue happened to me from time to time she's been running at a higher rate of now for a couple of weeks so I ended up putting the apt HDD fan control that seems to have worked
I had the same problem with my fan making loud noise I read the comments and somebody suggested change to another outlet and I did that and it worked the fan stop running making the loud noise it's true it's the voltage of the outlet

Probably due to the computer overheating it happens to many many devices you can’t really fix it unless you change the cooler on that particular device you can’t change the cooler or you can change the fans and that won’t do any good it will just do the same thing over and over again but if you had a PC or a hacking Tos probably due to the computer overheating it happens to many many devices you can’t really fix it unless you change the cooler on that particular device you can’t change the cooler or you can change the fans and that won’t do any good it will just do the same thing over and over again but if you had a PC or a A Mac but in a desktop computer case then you can change the cooler just fine and it will be a lot quieter
really i feel bad for you but i have no advice :( but this is 2 years after this video was posted. Let me know if you fixed it, or maybi u have bought a new computer :D
Although Fahrenheit is known around the world as ARCHAIC and it was flawed from inception (Daniel Fahrenheit - a Polish laymen - made 100 the temperature of his wife's body, and 0 the coldest Winter he could find in Dagzing, Poland in the Winter of 1712), you can stop the fan noise by a FREE download at either: *Macs Fan Control*: www.macupdate.com/app/mac/47386/macs-fan-control (They also have OLDER versions for 10.6.8 and 10.7 through 10.9.) *SSD Fan Control*: mac.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/SSD-Fan-Control.shtml And the USA signed a TREATY - that they would be COMPLETELY converted to SI ("metric") by 1976. Abdullah Coban what you want to do is unplug the cable at the back and leave it for a couple of seconds, around 15 seconds after that plug it in and wait 5 seconds before turning it on, that fixed it for me.
Hello Everyone! I wanted to share what i did. Thank you to all who post before me. I tried everything everyone recommended. My fans are doing better. I started with unplugging the power cord for a minute and then plugging it back in and powering on, I also unplugged all the other cords plugged into the same outlet as my iMac, and I also downloaded the iMac fan control app. Not sure which 1 worked but now my fans act as if they're about to come on but then they stay off. Human to human, this is what I did. Black man and proud but humanity is my religion. Who cares, right...I do AND you're welcomed!
I could not hear the noise from you fan, because mine is making to much noise to hear yours ;(
I took the plunge and took mine apart, of the three fans I found, it was the one on the bottom right of the case that was making all the noise, so with nothing to loose I peeled back the sticker that said "Do not remove" to find a red powder like rust, I blow this off and put one drop of motor oil onto the bearing, replaced the sticker and fired it up, silence, its as good as new, 6 weeks later it is still running as good as new totally silent and it gets used every day.

The fans goes full speed when a temp sensor is disconnected or faulty
When i heard the fan noise, i thought it was going to blow up, then I touched the back off it and felt the fan noise and i was so relived..

I mean like if you still have the iMac, download Mac fan control. And choose what ever rpm you want your fans to run at.

Turn it off and wait then it knocks off that what happened to me then reset and search fan on settings.
STOP replacing parts! I really don't think that is the issue. And the fans are not the issue either
i have a 2006 model imac white, i turned it on today and all of a sudden i could hear a heavy fan noise, and it isn't going?
help me guyssss!!!
heavy fan noise? I think u mean noisy fan noise
download smc fan control and change settings to low
Abdullah Coban what you want to do is unplug the cable at the back and leave it for a couple of seconds, around
15 seconds after that plug it in and wait 5 seconds before turning it on, that fixed it for me.
Just reset the SMC
doesnt all that stuff on ur desktop creates problems too?
download Mac fan control
Reset the SMC. The temperature management is messed up. Unplug for 15 second. Then plug in. Then after 5 seconds push power button.
Youve got loads of bloatware that's why
download a program that controls your fans
