- iMac fans problems are very prevalent, in my case i tried everything to fix my noisy fan on my 21.5 inch iMac mid-2011 edition. Other ways to avoid a noisy fan is to make sure you computer is located in a place with good ventilation and no dust.
The application that finally fixed my noisy fan issue is called Macs Fan Control, it works like a char

FINALLY!....a real solution to my noisy iMac fan!! Even overall this old iMac does what I need it to, I was really tired of the fan noise and was looking at spending $$$ for a newer computer. But now with this app you recommended, I don't have to waste money just to get rid of some noise! The only thing I did differently since I live in the very hot Southwest USA, I had a small desk fan I had doing nothing and is quiet that I put behind my computer just to add some extra cooling. Thank you!! Subscribed!!
The same with me, I was looking for solution daily , and with this I totaly solve the problem, Thank you very much for your time for making this!!
I was really close to disposing of this machine, this worked for me. Thank you!!!
Hi Zim Tech Guy, Thank for this super helpful video for Mac Fan Control. It definitely helped to bring the Fan speed to normal. No more of this Fan speed overkill. Truly thanks !
I know the feeling, glad it was of help.
Thank you, this video really helped a lot.
Thank you so much. I was getting ready to order new fan......
Thank you so much! My HDD fan has been loud since forever and now it's super quiet thanks to you
Thanks, glad it helped
look like a great solution - noise is so anoying. Will give it a try. Thank you for sharing
In my case it was the HDD. So i went ahead and used the same values. I am going to install more fans in my Recording Studio, Thanks Zim
you just changed my life 😊 Thank you very much.
Awesome! Just got an old imac. Can was like yours! Like a plane taking! Thank you! And subscribed
Thank you so much. Much love
Thank you sooooo much man you helped me so much. Thank you so much again.
You're right it did work and like you I had tried almost everything. .thank you
Thanks man, your video really helped.
Thank-you! I've installed and monitoring. This is super helpful for me. All the Apple KB documents and Support has been futile.
I had that problem , and it was the HDD , the old one got crashed and replaced it with new one. and the fan noise started. I tried resetting the SMC didn't work, then I thought of opening the iMac to clean the dust but I tried your way. but it wasn't the CPU fan it was the HDD fan. THANKS ALOT MAN
WoW!! Thanks mate! In my case, the HDD sensor was set to low. I switch my drive to SSD and I probably stuck it on a warmer spot. Problem solved with your app!! 👍
Same here so I did 49 and Max 90 for my HDD
Thank you man for the precious tip :)
this was a game changer. thank you so much . i did the same thing. cleaned my imac inside of all the dust installed a ssd and after about 3 to 5 minutes the fan going at full for the hard drive which it does not have anymore just a SSD .but this app work and told me what fan was running at max and it was the HDD fan. i reduced its value to min and fan noise gone. cpu was fine and left it at auto. thanks again.
Glad it helped
Thank you my friend, work perfectly but in my case i need to make the same option also for the CD drive
you're the best! Thanks!

Legend!!! Thanks for this bro!!
You win again. Thank you
Thanks you!
Thanks man.
Bless you man thank you!!
Wow, that really helped! In my Case it was my SSD that was causing the fun to run like crazy. I set it now to 35C. thank you !!!
It did that for me too after reading your comment. fuck yeah , am so with joy right now , I was already searching for a specialist and said gonna search one more time and came across video.... Thanks for your comment!!
@@yusufamir4834 I am glad it also worked for you! We should thank @Zim Tech Guy :D
It works on my imac, thank you Bro
Thnx man
Shoutout bro, it worked! Turns out Apple does that to prohibit us from tempering with the hardware.
thank you :)
wow thank you so much !!!!
Thanks !
Thank you it's working
wow! it fixed my problem! thank you so much!!!!
Glad it helped
It works like a charm!
Thank you so much for this video , it worked like a charm

@@ZimTechGuy Subbed and liked for sure !! Good luck with the channel too !
It worked grate, thank you so much.
Glad it did
Works great, thanks!
That's great!
THANK YOU!!!!
Awesome!
Thank you man, this shit actually worked. Bought a 2011 imac for £30, replaced the HDD as the guy said it had been used everyday, but just couldn't trust the old HDD especially after the amount of dust it had inside. After reinstalling macOS twice on the new HDD, the fan began to be extremely loud and annoying, its finally silent again haha!!!
Glad it worked, looks like you got a very good deal!
thank you it works Yaa
Thank you soooo much 🥳
You’re welcome 😊
Thank you, it works after following your instruction, however the app I downloaded is the newest ver 1.5.7 and only has the control of CPU, no HDD and COD control. I am still happy with it as I 'll upgrade my HDD to M.2 SSD and the HDD heat won't bother me.
It worked! Thank you. Of the three fans in the iMAC mid 2010, only the HDD fan ran at full blast by default upon power up even though the temperature of the of the drive was well under the threshold required to run the fan at constant full speed.
Wow awesome, glad it worked!
@@ZimTechGuy The same with me, I looking for solution daily as you, I with this I totaly solve the problem, Thank you very much for your time for making this!!
Thanks for that all working great now thanks once again
Awesome, glad it helped
may GOD BLESS YOU
Which Settings are the Best for fans? I use iMac mid 2010 21.5 inch 🤔
When installed the Macs Fan Control application today, it only shows the Main Fan and not the HDD or CPU fan! I am on iMac Late 2015, does the App not show all fans and feature until PRO license is bought?
Secondly, I am on factory installed Apple 256GB SSD, what could be the issue with the fan?
Thank you I had tried everything short of replacing the fan...it was the HDD fan running at very high rpms for no reason...did custom sensor, 50-90d now it's silent....hopefully this holds when I restart.
Glad it helped!
No OWC sensor means screaming 3600 rpm HDD fan noise. Macs Fan Control set to 1400 rpm. Be sure to check autostart program on power on.
I set the HDD fan RPM value to 1100 where the slider is pulled all the way to the right. That fixed it for me.
Hi Zim Tech Guy, Thanks for your helpful video, it worked for me and also thanks to the Software developers (new version downloaded today is 1.5.11) who developed this solution and posted it as free download, 2 years ago I replaced the fans etc as advised by the Computer repair shop when this noise started, it stopped but now it started again, your video really helped. My only concern is , will setting temp at 50C cause any other problem, hope not.
Hi Prasad, thanks for the feedback, the normal working temperature for CPUs is between 40-65 degrees, so I think 50 degrees is optimal the optimal setting for this tool, haven't had any issues yet.
@@ZimTechGuy My problem was HDD making noise, and I make also to hdd to 50 degrees, is this is ok?
I did installed that app
And it works
But after I restart the imac
The fan runs crazy again
What’s the issue here
Please help
I have a imac 27" late 2009 unit with an SSD already in it. It was running macfancontrol to handle the lack of the HDD sensor. However, it has just started blowing like a leaf blower, noticeably on the left underside. The HDD and ODD are set lower so I dont think it is that. However, the CPU shows no current RPM. Any idea what might be going on there and if it is fixable
Hi, sorry for the late reply did you manage to fix this?
I had my fan on some custom setting which I didn’t know Put it to auto much better
Great man thanx!
For me it was the HDD and i set the temperTURE AT 50-80 degrees celsius and now it's silent as a sleeping bird😂
Lol just the way it should be, glad it helped.
Thanks for sharing this app. Solved the fan speed, but my imac still keeps so slow. Seems to have alsl other issue :(
Are you using hard drive or an SSD?
@@ZimTechGuy hi! Its still the hard drive from factory. I'm afraid buying a SSD and have the same issue.
@@BrunoMiguelP If you can, upgrade to an SSD , your speeds will improve
