can the driver board connected to the back of the display be replaced it or would i have to replace the entire display? i found one of the 13 strips was damaged,
what kind of a tool are you using to cut the seal? also, is it an original seal? We have seen some of the OWC or other brands have issues with cutting...
@@JosephHughes yeah original and I have the whole kit. I bought it in amazon. I just don’t want to cut the foam and break something. I’ll probably have to take it somewhere to get it fixed
@@filipevalentegomes2383 Yep, if you don’t cut the foam, the screen is not going to move at all. If it makes you nervous, it is best to bring it in to a technician that can do it for you :) You can definitely break the screen if you do things wrong.
I am having to do this to my 2019 imac that i payed £2000 at the time for, i hate that i cant clean inside, it keeps over heating, i have literally just had the pizza cutter around the screen now just prepping a safe place before i take it completely off, £2000 and all this trouble to clean it !! This is the first and last imac i will buy, yes performance and everything is excellent but the risk i have to go through to clean it is crazy... Thanks for the video 👍
Aha actually I just finished, everything went smoothly with 1 small hiccup at the end , when applying the screen adhesive strips I checked that my screen was straight and celetaped the bottom of the screen to keep it centre, the screen dropped in smoothly, once centred I lifted back up to remove the backing of the adhesive strips then when I went to drop it in I accidentally lowered one corner In before the other😂, the top left corner bowed out and didn't want to go in, I applied abit of pressure and it went in and has sealed strong but when I turn on to a black screen I notice a slight pressure point in the top left corner you can hardly notice it , it doesn't bother me , but do you think it will damage the screen? You can hardly see it at all just on a black screen you notice slight brighter, when you apply pressure it kind of dissappears, I will obviously have to do to this again In the future to clean it so i suppose i can resolve it then 😅 but yer m8 what a daunting task and I just didn't do screen removal, I don'e a whole tear down n clean you should of seen it ! 😅 but hardest thing was applying the screen adhesive strips 😂 would you believe it
@JosephHughes update number 3 😅 woke up to screen corner sticking out, and guess what it was the screws from the speaker 😅 out of everything, I forgotten to screw them properly , problem solved now 👍
Hello Alexis, the 2012 27" iMac is a 2k screen and the 2015 uses a 5K screen. Here is a good link to the correct screen if you are looking for one! www.protechrestore.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=13_116_1060&product_id=526
Thanks for the vid joseph, been awhile since Ive opened up a mac. Built a few rigs and plenty of tinkering but only a couple few macs years ago so appreciate the refresher. If careful enough we dont need no dang bracelet. 10/10 I thought lol ✌️frm NZ
Phew. . I am so lucky I have mid 2011 Imac and it was so easy to take off the screen.
STOP bragging. I'm stuck with this "aDheSiVe" junk....with my awesome processor and empty memory slots......with ADHESIVEEEERRD
Great vid - good attention to detail. Thx for sharing.
Where do you get a replacement screen from. I've got a 2019 27inch iMac
eBay and Amazon
Are the screen and glass replaced together. I have a cracked 27 5k imac. What is the cost for the replacement. Great video😊
Thank you very much for this! Everything you said was correct and made it so easy!
I am very glad to hear that!
What’s the link to to adhesive strips?
Removing the two cables is very confusing. I have no idea what to do.
Great video, thank you. Do you think you can do this with a stanley knife or do I need to actually buy and wait for the tool to arrive?
I would wait for the correct tool. Metal on glass is very risky, generally the glass will crack before the metal would give…
Good call, thanks for a great video! I hope you reach your 1000 subscribers soon :) I subscribed..
Let me know how it goes!
Great tips, appreciated!
How do you put it back on? My display is not going in easily. Is there a trick? Thanks
Hey there, there is another video on the channel about aligning the iMac screen, maybe that could help you out.

My screen does't move at all even with two suction cups. I have late 2015 imac

Does this come with the glass panel or is only the screen?
These iMac screens have the glass bonded to the LCD.
So you are forced to buy a new LCD/glass combo for these iMac? You can't JUST replace the edit?? @@JosephHughes
Unfortunately yeah, the whole assembly is the go to on these
thanks
You're welcome!

How do you know if your screen is glued or magnet?
If its 2011 or earlier, its a magnet. 2012 or later is glued
