I've had a problem with a pesky dust and cat fur clump inside the machine making noise against the fan spinning every so often despite vacuuming the bottom vents regularly, and this video really helps to know exactly how to point the compressed air straw into the back vents to try to dislodge the clump (without actually taking the whole machine apart).
Could you please share where should the compressed air be directed to remove the dust? it's been revving like a plane taking off for the longest time. Thank you.
@@gillsansbold55 You know what I found that actually worked better than the compressed air was an app to manually control the internal fan. The was one called Macs Fan Control or something and there was also another, forget the name. So you want to be careful how you adjust the settings to make sure it doesn't overheat, but you can turn up the fan really high just for a minute or so and blow the dust out the back vent. Then just return the fan to the default setting. It's tricky using the compressed air, but sometimes it will help just pointing it in the back vents. After you clean it out, I can't stress enough how much easier your life will be if you just turn off the computer once every 1 or 2 months and vacuum the intake below the screen. Very simple and quick when there's not much there.
@@anthony_galati Thank you for sharing! I tried using the compressed air on the back vent. Will check out the app and try to vacuum the intake vents be the screen. I am hoping this will make my mac last for a couple of years more. thank you!
@@gillsansbold55 Make sure you remember to shut off the mac when vacuuming. The suction could damage the fan motor otherwise. Btw, something I recently learned is that getting more RAM will also likely extend the life of your computer since it doesn't have to work as hard. So I got some for the first time. You can always transfer it to the next computer when the current one dies anyway.
In the iMac, there is a grid at the bottom behind the bottom Apple logo. Is it possible to remove it somehow? The part is clogged and not a little bit of air gets into the iMac. It is 100% clogged, so that the iMac draws fresh air through the ports on the back.
I hope this is a major game changer for me and this iMac that I have. Seems like it should be, but if you know. My current drive is squeaking, with every key-press or mouse scroll/click it makes the most irritating sound and I just know I have to replace it.
When putting the screen back on the computer assembly, do you need to reheat the glue, or will it stick back on as easily as it came unstuck? I want to do this to my 2017 27" iMac to install a VESA mount. From the video, it looks pretty straight forward. My only concern is how well the screen goes back on.
Hello, I have the same iMac and I saw that you removed the SSD card, is that a dual hard drive system? I only have the hdd, what stick type can I purchase to add it on the system?
Hi. Any brand and model recommendations how to upgrade the M.2 NVME SSD to 1TB. Also what's the pin of Apple M.2? Any adapters you can recommend to make a regular M.2 NVME work? Thank you. God bless.
@powermedic Hi! Thanks for the nice and detailed explanation, my screen turns to black after some time, I read that the problem is because of the backlight inverter (I have a iMac A1419 late 2014) where exactly is that piece?
I'm guessing those costs Apple $500 tops to manufacture and then almost $2000 profit.I was gonna do a new PC build but decided to hold out for the new iMac. Should be getting announced soon!
Very nice video ! I have a question are the hard drives of a mac and pc the same ? Could I buy a hard drive that is for pc and install in a mac? I hope m y question makes sense.
Download the video. Get some quality video playback software that allows you to place videos in reverse. Equally easy when putting it together and taking it apart.
Thank you so much. Was able to get to where I needed. The only thing you missed was removing the power inlet which is where I needed to get to. But overall, I got there. Thank you.
Hi all. My iMac 2015 27 inch overheated and caught fire. I shut it down saving the rest of the iMac but wondering if anyone else had this issue? And how did you resolve it. Thanks all!
what version exactly it is??? fusion drive yes but what ssd drive? Ive got 1TB Fusion (24GBSSD + 1TB HDD) on my Late 2015 iMac 5K and is very slow :( I want to make a swap but I don't know where to buy SSD PCIe 2.0 x4 - could you tell me a part number? :)
It depends on the specific cable, but generally speaking do not pull. Apply light pressure while lifting up. Depending on the connector it sometime helps to use a flat tool on the underside of the cable while gently lifting up on the cable.
Don’t be so negative all you muppets! I found it very helpful as I have a broken screen. So dismantled the whole computer and shrank the size, made a small box for it and am running with an external monitor. Thanks for the video!
yes! if you buy a model with a harddrive only, or a fusion drive in it you can leave the harddrive in and exchange the m.2 Ssd to a bigger one for cheaper then the price apple is making you to pay! But you have too disable the fusiondrive function on it there are some Tutorials on how to do that!
I would never recommend opening iMac this method ,you might break the glass.. top left corner and top right corner is worst ,use imac opening toolkit and soften the glue first only to edge of the glass.(not nearer to lcd), i do this at least 3 per week
Dave Midgley I searched this up thinking someday I could use the motherboard "inside the iMac" but I literally see nothing familiar about what's inside here lmao
thats wierd i have the late 2015 27 inch, the airport card is different on mine also there are a couple screws i didnt see while taking mine apart, great video though thanks helped me a lot
When removing the display with the pick, be very careful around the camera location. Spend some time there or the screen will crack in that area.
Will you make a video "How to put back everything in to the iMac ?" ?

xD i was gonna say that haha

I have a late 2015 5k imac, but the standard 1tb hdd model. Does that also hav a SSD connector on the motherboard?

When you put it back together, what if any adhesive is required?
What is that rectangle object on the shank of the screwdriver being used?
What is it's purpose?
Is there no other way to remove the stand? Does this model not allow you to remove the stand?
With a complete disassembly, you should be able to unscrew it from the back case.

Did you ever install the VESA mount by removing the innards? If so, Do you have any pictures/videos?

I'm looking to remove that too - did you find out how?
Hi does one need the cutting wheel, say by iFixit to remove the adhesive tape for say, the Late 2015 iMac 5K 27"?

Can’t remove the stand??
what kind of connection is used for the ssd stick? Is it NVME? thanks
What kind of CPU can I change in iMac late 2015?

So am I, i don't even use those speakers, I've always got i plugged into external AUX stereo speaks and headphones for gaming.

how do you remove the i/o port ?
I have cut the glue with a carpet cutter. I was afraid I would cut some wires, as other tutorials told, but there is no wire at all there.
