Rebuilding the coachroof.
In this episode i begin the process of rebuilding the coachroof, starting with the machining of the three Iroko boards i have, ready to start marking out for the new superstructure.
We meet the mysterious lurker that has been spotted in the workshop.
Then moving onto cutting the required rebates to enable bedding timber onto deckbeams and deck.

Best video so far Finn. Good music, good assistant, good timber, good workmanship and good progress. The only thing you need now is a parrot!
What he said! #tookthewordsoutofmymouth 😂😎🙏🏻
Parrots and dogs are good, but what about a cat?
@@TheDanielsherer Anyway, could also be a ferret or a squid ... nah, hang on, squids as pets do work only _after_ the launch 😂
It is amazing how much a parrot, dog and some chickens add to a video.
Leo is Leo….Finn is Finn……..I’m thinking a monkey would be good……hahaha
Well, Finn, Sounds like you are blessed man to have a decent boss that allows you to use his equipment to plane and cut your boards. Been enjoying this rebuild Fin keep them videos coming brother. Your a lucky man to have a girl willing to pick up the tools. That's called a keeper buddy.
Oh, your friend is doing a damn fine job on the music🎼
Thanks! Hope to do some more with Finn if he lets me!
Your girl friend is a keeper. The music is relaxing and goes with the boat boat building. Just keep plugging along and soon you will be sailing. Thanks for the videos
Finn, you are a very fortunate man to have Liz all to yourself! She is lovely and I for one look forward to seeing more of her.
The boat is coming along nicely with your master's touch! Q. Are you happy with the interior layout as it is or do you want to make changes? If you do, a word of advice from someone who has learned the truth the hard way. When it comes down to the galley layout take the advice of She Who Knows about such things! Liz will be possessed of The Wisdom that we men are so often found wanting of. Believe me, I know! 😂
Nice one Finn, great job on the coachroof, lovely to meet Liz, oh and Sally and Heather!!
It's funny, Finn. When you were with Leo on Tally Ho I could tell you had some kind of background in wood working and a good grasp of the process but I must say that you are really doing an amazing job with your own project. Your skill level is far higher than I would have guessed. You really have something special going on. The production quality is much improved as well. And you have a pretty cool girl friend there. I love it when the girls don't mind getting their hands dirty.
Keep up the progress.
Cheers from Southern California.
When you say tucked away in an old rail car. What a cool looking storage spot.
The music put me in mind of Deadwood.
Masterpiece, (Liz)... and your boat building workmanship's right up there too! Great video.
Looking good Finn, enjoying your use of the circular plane!
Welcome aboard Liz, great work!
Excellent project, great to watch a master craftsman at work. She's coming along nicely.
Glad you got back engaged in your project.
good progress , fantastic music, nice girlfriend ,,, solid boat!
Great work and craftsmanship.and patience...steady she goes...the music...well done...
Well done Liz for stripping the Hull, one of those boring jobs! Good work, well done! 👍
Good job Finn, through careful planning and meticulous execution, you are way ahead of Tally Ho. You already have a deck!
the music was great. I love the old hand planer and using laser precision. old and new.
Such clean work. Half expected you to start marking dovetails to join the boards. Lol. Thanks for letting us watch.
Oh my word, how nice it is to finally hear someone use the correct term ‘Rebate’ instead of Rabit, beautiful work Finn.
Depends on what side of the pond yer on……..rabbit!……..LOL
I've noticed Liz working on the hull in some shots in your previous videos. so cool that she shares the passion!
In more ways than one no doubt!
For sure, my wife would be in watching tv while i was struggling away, but maybe that's not a bad thing 🙂
Hi Finn, great to have you back on the www, I enjoy ur project and your vision. Hang in there, stay tough.
Eamonn (Co Kerry, Western Atlantic Seaboard)

Liz is a star in the making
I do love Finn's videos. Down to earth and practical.
Keep at it Finn. The big day will come.
Welcome Liz! we've been enjoying your BF's journey towards a wonderful vintage boat- Hope to see many more videos with him and you soon-
Cheers!
Really REALLY good Finn! Fantastic video.
Thats going to be a nice boat son.
SO methodical with the paint scraping! I would be all over the place haha
Awesome tunes fella.
Perfect accompaniment.
It's looking good Finn, look forward to the next update.
Nice filming, your getting better ..looking forward to the next one's
great work, nice video and nice music.
Nice progress Finn,it will surely be a solid construction 👌🙂
Love the music. Your kicking ass Finn.
Enjoyed, thanks for posting 👍
Love the time lapse.
Nice lines and symmetrical curves - the boat's OK too!
Welcome aboard Liz, so glad you found each other as Finn was a bit forlorn there for a while.
Love the stripper ! I've built three canoes and one kayak!
Finn another enjoyable upload, a handy tip for helping hold big timbers on edge is to use a short 4x2 half checked wider than plank and put under
plank and tap a wedge in to lock in place while you work on the timber. You may need two blocks, great to see your boss let you use his machines.
Thanks for posting and sharing. Really great to see the boards getting fitted, and the hull getting stripped. No nice your girlfriend is interested to provide assistance.
Always a pleasant surprise when a new eposode comes out. I like the music!
Great that you have a mate to help you and she looks great also.
Got ya!
Great progress and great girl to scrape all that paint. Well done to the both of you. Keep at it Finn its better every video you make
Great to see the progress Finn, awesome work and Liz!. Loved your mates music also. keep up the good work.
Absolutely exceptional ....Liz included..
Nicely done Finn, Liz and Mark...
Only 523 likes out of 2,294 views, come on give this guy some love he's worth it .
I can never understand this ratio seemingly universal throughout RUclips!?
@Robert Vial And yet you watch it. And comment on it. Adversely. Why? I and thousands of subscribers think he's great and I actually like the spin off from Leo. If Pete or Rosie started their own channels I'd watch them too. Or are you saying there should be some sort of restrictive covenant in place for fear of being called freeloaders? Weird.
@Robert Vial This seems to be a bizarre collection of unrelated or illogical statements. You saw Finn start his so-called spin off. But it died a death. It was going nowhere. No vision. "This will end the same" ??? What will end the same? Something that has already died a death except it's still going ??? Then one episode was enough for you on a rerun of his. Who? Finn? A rerun? What, something that died a death? But is going to end the same? As what? And you're still commenting on a dead thing or is it something that IS going to end the same? I don't think that joined up thinking is your forte.Just vitriol.
Yeah, what a slacker! He should get a job in an office where the REAL men work.
I knew that comment would get to you since, from your first comment, I could tell you worked in an office. Only a bitter emasculated office slave would make such a comment. Toodles!
Another great vid Finn well done
Good progress, great sounds and wishing to see more. Well done with Liz, you just need some animals for the full effect.
wicked stuff Finn. keep up the good work!
great video and i love the music.
Hoop to hear more of it.
Keep up the good work Finn!! Looks good!!
Looks great Finn. Great music too.
Looking great. Thanks for sharing this with the world. 🇨🇦
Dear Finn.
👍👌👏 Well done again and as always. Yeah, there are obviously some positive facts about living on and working in a big shipyard. ;-) Congrats for having a girlfriend with almost matching hair and that she likes to help respectively shares your interest in boats. I loved to watch her giggling because it's extremely important to let live ones inner child as an adult. Reminds me a bit of Francesca from Leo Gooldens channel. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health to all of you.
Beautiful! Carry on good sir.
glade your are back Finn keep up the great work good music Rick CDN
Watched every second.
6:27 that Opinel has seen better days :)
Opinels are proud workhorses, they like looking used ....
C'est de loin ta meilleure vidéo ! J'adore la musique ! :=)
Great progress!
Greetings from San Diego, California 🤙
Very fine music selection!
Finn you are make remarkable progress !!! Good to have a beautiful girl friend who is willing to share your vision and a mate providing the good tunes. I think the joys for me to watch your endeavors are your skills, dry humor, the enormity of the project and the expectation of producing a unique sailing craft. Keep up the good work and continue to make us proud !
Keep it up brother. Your doing ok.
great video Finn, love the music too, you know there might be a chance that you launch before Leo :-) keep up the great work, can't wait to see the next one.
Very well done...
That timber is a nightmare to plane you hit short grain both ways so keep your plains sharp good luck
I wish I could be there, I saw lots of little things that waste your time, not very useful but handy
Sweeping up, keeping the coffee hot etc even sharpening the dull tools. Just a dream though.
Too far away in Aussie. Keep on mate, You're making good progress.
Very cool Finn!!!
Candle wax on the heal and toe of the plane helps you get a smooth use on all hard woods
Heel my friend
Been looking at and researching ferrocement sailboats.. the ones built properly are amazing. It's unfortunate that they don't have a great resale value, but it is nice for someone who isn't wealthy and is wanting a used well built sailboat
Great work...
I love the combination of old world craftsmanship with hand tools blended with modern tech like laser levels.
great vid--the music was FANTASTIC ! your skills are mind blowing Finn .
Best video yet! Congrats!
Nice work.
Amazing video lad!
best soundtrack of the boat building videos : tools noises + guitars! indeed.
Aaaaand .... a Finn-video. Snowy, foggy, way too cold of a Sunday afternoon saved. Thanks for sharing! Cheers
that's some nice material you have there! used iroko on some handles myself, that stuff is super durable
Like everyone has said, best video yet! Nice job. Bet those iroko planks set you back some!
good job very nice
Great to see another installment. Loving your journey, sir - inspiring stuff. 👍
Best yet really liked the music filming was great that thickness plane was a beast and looks like your getting your teeth into it now great work looking forwards to the next episode
I'm really enjoying your videos, but I think you need a parrot, one that doesn't require looking after. Hope to see more of Liz, she's funny!
