Vocal Profile
vocal type : lyric tenor

at best : A2-Eb5-G#5
Strength (+)

- well developed belting technique and optimal up to C5 consistently and up to Eb5 at best
- proper mixed voice is used to prevent strain
- possibly among the strongest head voice user among male singers
- achieved whistle register
- excellent vocal agility
- flawless transition
- great sense of pitch
weakness (-)
- lower register could be more consistent and projected below B2/C3
- above C5 he started to sound narrow, tight and whiny and can be tense
- tend to lose good quality above F#5/G5 in head voice
He is so underrated. He should be out there having world tours. His agility is to die for. Tone as well
Yeesss!!!!! One of the best male vocalists in history who doesn't have a weak aspect in his vocal technique (some male opera/theatre singers may have the edge when it comes to lower register and mid-belts) and the most agile male vocalist so far...
A tiny super squeezed voice along with oooohhaaaahhhhooohhhaahhhh so called agility.
Mahalia Jackson and Whitney Houston had more chest voice than him.
This is a great video and he is a criminally underrated vocalists! In today's generation where most male vocalists are basic, Avery Wilson stands! He is an amazing vocalist!
Very impressed of this men, omg😱😱 his technique it's so good and healthy, maybe he trained the same technique that the technique I'm learning from my teacher
Please note... when he sings anything above a f4 he's almost always in a mix. The reason his mix is so strong is because his head voice is so developed and strong. He is not in 'full voice' aka chest voice pretty much ever above a D4 really... Which is why he has so much agility through his 1st bridge and also why he is so blended.
His head voice kinda reminds me of Whitney 😍
Avery wilson is definitely the king of Vocal Agility 🤩👑
GOOD JOB FOR MAKING THIS VOCAL ANALYSIS, I DIDN'T EXPECT THAT😊😭🥺🧡
I loved this video, we really need more videos talking about male vocalist these days
One suggestion: you could active the automatic subtitles option for your videos. Since English is not my first language, I sometimes find it really hard to understand somethings you say
The subtitle will appear usually just wait
He has a magnificent voice, thank you for the analysis!!!
Thank you. Great video!!!
He is sooo gooood !!! ❤️
Excellent vocalist. Definitely in the top tier for male vocalists, well vocalists periodt. He reminds me of a lower placed alex Newell.
His voice sounds rare to me, such a versatile singer. But do you think tenor can hit F5 and above with good support in belt and even headvoice they can reach 6th octave with good support ?
Yes
He'is Underrated
1. Avery can do a lot with his voice but one thing that makes him stand out, is his instrument. It's reminiscent of the kind of instrument Whitney (maybe not exactly as beautiful) but close. Just listen to that tone.
2. Hmm, I think Dimash has a more impressive head voice than him and probably the most amongst the males of the young generation.
I also thought Luke James had a stronger head voice than Avery even though I like the tone of Avery's head voice more.
3. As for agility, he is incredibly agile but to be honest, musicality is not his forte (at least so far). There are many performances in which he is riffing and running just for the sake of doing so and it rather detracts from the song. Reminds me of a young Beyonce (singing Silent Night, Bugaboo, Emotions with Celine etc.) before she evolved.
4. For Voices of the New Generation (Generation Z), it's between Faouzia and Jailen so far (still so early to call, they are quite young so time will tell). Remember that whether we like it or not, it must also be coupled with success, enough to influence the music and general public at large when it comes to vocals.
Avery isn't part of that generation (gen z), he is a millenial.
For males of the generation before, he could take it but I'm sure there are other contenders ~ cue the Dimash comments ~ but again, have their voices shaped popular music/the industry, the general public?
I do think dimash came from contemporary not actual mainstream but yes
Just checked on Luke James and i think they're both amazing but I'd give Luke a slight edge just like Celine and Whitney
Imo jailen is the best female pop singer in genZ her chest development, belting, head voice, runs everything are top notch faouzia is close 2nd
@@allykelly I agree, Luke James has the edge and Dimash is quite well known but still not really mainstream.
Ooh, I'm still torn between Jailen and Faouzia. I think they're really neck and neck - a tie.
M1 is a tie. M2 is also essentially a tie with Jailen having a slight edge (Jailen is stronger higher in head voice while Faouzia has more quality lower in head voice) M3 goes to Faouzia. She has shown some good control and development but we have yet to see her actually use it on stage. That's a whole other challenge. Both have phenomenal vocal agility with Faouzia having more musicality.
@@GarageStudio7 well deciding voice mechanisms on them aren't really accurate imo cuz
Pure technique
Lows : faouzia
Mid belt : jailen
Upperbelt : jailen
Head voice : jailen
Jailen
Eb3/E3-F#5/G5-B5/C6
Faouzia
D3/Eb3-D5/Eb5-A5
Jailen has shown great consistency up to F#5/G5 her mixed voice is even more stable than Faouzia
Agility seems to be a tie, jailen's musicality is also good i barely hear her oversinging
About whistle faouzia takes it but it's the least important cuz it's not used a lot
@@allykelly Using mechanisms is accurate, it may just not be specific enough.
Lows: Faouzia
Belts: Jailen
Mix: Faouzia
Head Voice: Jailen
Whistle: Faouzia
If Faouzia's consistency with lows is D3, then Jailen's consistency definitely isn't Eb3.
Faouzia *at least* has Eb5s in belts. The countless Eb5s from her performances gives her that edge.
Same with head voice, Jailen's is B5.
Jailen mixed voice more stable than Faouzia? She mostly belts. Faouzia utilizes mix more as she ascends and different coordinations.
As for musicality. There are quite a number of performances where Jailen is oversinging. Even in that lovely video you made showcasing the new generation of girls' talents, there are clips with her oversinging. Riffing and running for the sake of doing so. That is not the case with Faouzia. Knowledge of music theory from the multiple instruments she plays, probably helped her.
You love Jailen, but c'mon her musicality is not on Faouzia's level.
Faouzia has been making changes to riffs and runs she constructed that are already complex yet she still maintains musicality.
Also, just because many people don't develop the register and thus don't use it as much, it doesn't correspond to it being "least important".
I really don't get that logic. Falsetto is used by way more people than actual head voice. Plus Speech pathologists and traditional pedagogues actually recognize it as a real register rather than "head voice" which is viewed as the upper part of modal voice by them, but we're not sitting here saying, well it's used a lot so it should have precedence.
That's like saying barely anyone lands a quadruple axel in ice skating or a produnova in gymnastics so it is least important.
@@GarageStudio7 well the video is gonna come these days I've been trying to get materials from her live streaming on Instagram (wish she'd save them)
Faouzia has Eb5s indeed but she can also get whiny, squeezed and narrow on these area not sure if it's stylistic
Yes faouzia has better musicality jailen barely has her own songs.
But i don't recall jailen having a bad run, her extra runs are just her having fun behind the stage
Jailen has enough of good C6s as I've found it's just that she doesn't utilize it more
And I've found her clip sustaining G#5/A5 effortlessly
Whistle is the least important to be because it's not as needed as the other main registers people will worry more about lacking of development in lows, belt, head voice instead of whistle
Falsetto is basically a breathy, airy version of head voice which is done without proper vocal fold closure so I don't really pay any attention to this part
Impressive vocalist with great skills, such an extensive belting range and his agility is out of this world. I gotta say I have the feeling he does too much runs tho, so it can get a bit boring, other than that, great vocalist!
thanks, I love your agility. I will wait for an analysis of Ramin karimloo
If i have his materials then sure
I absolutely love his voice tho I understand to the general public, the runs and riffs/vocal flexibility can get rather excessive
I wonder in Riffs and runs how Avery Wilson would do against Gene Noble?
Tie
@@allykelly he's mostly unknown but thanks for checking him out💯. 🤍 The diversity of vocalists on ur channel
His highest note is actually G6 not F#6
I feel like for his belting, if he changed his technique to a healthier placement he could support higher than a C5 like maybe up to a E5 or higher.
He has a decent D5 at best
@@allykelly Yeah, after that it sounds like a shouty kinda scream but still good.
The fact he supports a C5 as a male is insane already
@@user-sm5tn6xb1u Right! That right there already proves he has good technique
hmz... The best vocalist i've heard for the last years (and i've heard aaaaa lot A LOTTTT... tones) are: Dimash Qudaibergen, gotta put him on first place cause what Avery can do this guy can do it in 2 more octaves (or 3?) and i think that's the best male vocalist i've ever heard from point of range/technique.... Avery is in my second position but he shares my favorite pick with Chris Blue - those are my two favs from what i have listen so far from this generation. Not sure from both who have advantage... maybe slightly will go for Avery but still can't be 100% sure. Next in my list in no particular order are Avery's pal Stevie Mackey... (i calling him vocal magician and i'm not sure why he is not at the second spot with the other two), DeAndre Nico (dude can sing the .... out of any song). There is a bunch of young lads i've heard nailing songs of Whitney, Mariah, Sia, Adele and they are phenomenal but i'm the most impressed by this names i mentioned up there. In general my fav singers are Charlie Wilson and Bruno Mars + honourably will mention Luther Vandross and James JT Taylor. Two singers that sound different than everyone else and that brought me goosebumps over the years and no matter i never being a real die hard fan in a matter of knowing their whole discography i always being amazed from their magical voices.
What tier would Avery Wilson be?
Great
By the Way, I just wanted to know What's your thoughts about Katrina Velarde if you know her?! Btw her Freedom Range is (C#3-Bb5-F#6).
I'm not familiar with her but can u help me for materials of her?
Wow he's way better than I thought. What's his supported range?
Supported range isn't really a thing these days but he is consistent on
C3-C5-F#5/G5
@@allykelly Holy shit C5? He's better than Park Hyo Shin then lol.
Wait but why isn't supported range a thing these days? Is there a better way to measure a singer's vocal technique?
@@MissMartianDCAU it's like solid range i don't call them supported range anymore
Support exist supported range doesn't
He is a lil bit better than park hyonsin
@@yichen7662 again i don't use the supported and strained my system is
Great 🟦
good 🟩
decent 🟨
average 🟧
bad 🟥
for the vocal quality many of notes that are labeled as strained are just decent not exactly signs of poor technique, not just support vs strain, consistent range just refers to the area where the singer seems consistent
@@yichen7662 umm not exactly Ailee is given E5/F5 by people but turn out she can even get tight on C5/C#5 area she generally lacks freedom and openess her vowels get distorted and muddy almost all the time. I don't think having bolder sounds mean better if the technique isn't optimal
Whitney is seen as the best belter in trinity but turn out Celine has the healthiest technique among the Trinity
About avery the C#5s are orange because they're a bit squeezed, strident and narrow, constricted I'd say
Oh i was wondering if you were gonna do Kelly Clarkson??
If i have enough materials
Does the red mean inconsistent and the blue means good?
Red is bad or tense
@@allykelly Okay thank you! What dos white stand for?
@@whitneyhouston1122 white? I don't think i use it?
@@allykelly OOP! I don't know what I'm seeing then nvm.
Is he better than David Phelps? His belting and head voice is amazing, probably one of the best agile male vocalist
David Phelps is definitely better
What about Jeremy jordan ? Is he better than avery
Who is the beautiful lady towards the end???
Jailen josey
I need to know your opinion or anyone for the matter of Avery’s e5 here. It’s so clear, but I noticed it wasn’t in the vid ruclips.net/video/YuT-w_l2ETM/видео.html :40-:42
I can't find your timestamp
@@allykelly ruclips.net/video/YuT-w_l2ETM/видео.html just 0:40, im curious as to your opinion on that!
@@zzmc3671 it's a light mixed voice
@@allykelly what color would you give it based on your standard? Im thinking green but curious about your opinion. :)
@@zzmc3671 orange
I disagree with his lower register.
Especially now
So he has better lows now? Can u provide materials?
A4 above are clearly strain hmm
Constricted/tense not exactly strained know the differences
@@allykelly very constricted + push + very high larynx, whatever you call, mehh
@@meomeow2520 not really he is just mostly whiny, narrow and tight strain is when the vocal fold is forced so he doesn't strain much
@@allykelly 3:04 this b4 is what we call strain
@@allykelly 2:26 this g#4 is one of those rare belt note i think is actually support, all from a4 and above is executed with a high larynx
3:56 full voice? That’s girly , super squeezed noise. Male full voice 👉 check Del Monaco slaying an aria.
Mahalia Jackson sounded more man than this guy will ever try to …
Also, too many runs for nothing.” He needs to work on his instrument.
Full voice means that it's done in M1 not mixed.
Too many runs for nothing
Well it's his singing style you just don't like them 😏
No need to tell me about how good Monaco and Mahalia just they're irrelevant in this video
Another ignoramus spotted hating on a a very talented black male vocalist.
Girl... Avery is an excellent singer. Imagine trying to throw shade for no reason.
@@nomore9686 Exactly!
You're right that's not full voice at all.
It's mixed
But he does have an actually belted F5 and G5
