      I have played all classes in pve zerker and condi builds. I can tell that Engineer is the hardest, because if you want to do max dps you gong to have to use multiple kits.
      You have to know the cooldown time rotation and switching non-stop through your kits and weapon.
      Not mentioning that almost all engineer skills need a different treatment to be effective.

      yennick Kk There is no shame in clicking some of your skills. Been watching lives on twitch and I've seen people in raids and T4 fractals clicking some of their skills and doing way better than people who didn't. As long as my group manages to get things nicely done and everyone knows their shit I don't care if they click or not 🤗

    • @gothbananabread

      Davi Gonçalves only you can't pause so stopping mid fight to read what your skills do just puts you at a disadvantage... that's why keybinds are preferred among players, as if you use keybinds, you won't have the crutch of skill descriptions to lean on, therefore forcing the player to actually learn what their skills and traits do

      Mesmers are amazing, both conceptually and in practice, in both incarnations of Guild Wars. But Ian's right - they are NOT a simple class that's easy to pick up. While I main a warrior for legacy (GW1) reasons, my mesmer and guardian are instant sub-mains because of how fun I find both of them.
      Now me, I'm only moderately skilled with the mesmer. I know how to play them and do well in PvE, but I've *seen* really good mesmers, and it's a thing of beauty. A wonder to behold. A truly skilled mesmer can go into a mess of enemies and come out on top, and all leaving their enemies baffled as to what the heck was even HAPPENING in the fight.
      And Sam's right. They are THE ultimate troll class. They exist to give enemies fits. Is that them or just a clone? Wait, did they put confusion AND torment on me? OK, let me clear that off-wait, they did it AGAIN and my removal's still on cooldown? And OH NO NOW THE CLONES EXPLODED IN MY FACE! (Protip: Although clones go through the same attack animations, they do not actually do damage, and are rather fragile. They are basically decoys. The illusory-looking phantasms are a bit sturdier and actually CAN hurt you, but at least you can tell them apart from the mesmer.)

    • @Sam-yk4zq
      @Sam-yk4zq 6 лет назад

      I was mostly referring to mesmers being able to 1-2 shot someone in WvW haha, and people come up with the most insane builds for them. But yes, mesmer is the most troll class in the game.

    • @greenfox1991
      @greenfox1991 6 лет назад +6

      low IQ ahahahah at platinum rank you find braindead warriors spamming keys without knowing who they are targeting. I was a ranger, I was 1 inch near a "top 250" warrior that literally ignored me and he was focusing for 15 seconds the mesmer's clones in my team.

    • @drymeen
      @drymeen 6 лет назад +6

      This "1 shot" is actually a combination of 6-8 skills within a single second. That's why most people do it wrong and can't nail it. Mesmer is far from brainded when you start mindgaming people. Main problem is that it requires a lot of pvp knowledge to be able to quickly counter a mesmer, wich most people don't have. They panic, throw a random dodge and get caught at the end of it.

    I always felt like there are 2 ways to look at the profession selection "grid"
    The lines represent the armor classes, but the culumns are like the "difficulty" levels.
    Warrior, Ranger, Necro = easy
    Guardian, Thief, Ele = medium
    Rev, Engi, Mesmer = hard
    It's the first time I see someone thinking the same (pretty much, I don't consider elementalist to be the most complicated class, except when you're a weaver maybe).

    • @ianboswell
      @ianboswell  6 лет назад

      That's a good point. Mesmer requires more focus on your skill activation order when it comes to chrono especially beause if you just mash buttons you mess up your alacrity efficiency. So yeah I'd argue Chrono is harder than Weaver even, but Mirage is super chill.

    • @janjores5337

      Ele is ez

    • @Lockles-
      @Lockles- 5 лет назад

      Well, they're the classes where if you don't know what you're doing, you'll have a horrid time.
      But the upside is, they're also the typical "rogue" and "mage" archetypes, and they both have the better burst potential for PvP; which makes them the more obvious choices for folks who'd like to play those types and the folk who play a class simply because it's "better for ganking".
      Which leads to a lot of people playing them, figuring them out and sharing that information online.
      I think every build for Thief and Elementalist that has ever been meta for even half a second has more guides dedicated to it than you can read in a week. All saying the same thing. And if you don't want to read or watch videos about them, you're still in luck! Because an online gaming community is going to tell you all about how you're "the worst scrub ever" if you make the slightest mistake with either of those classes. :) Because the most annoying people who'll jump at every chance that they're better than you? Ya, those are the ones playing Elementalist and Thief.
      Enjoy!

    Since i guess 50% of the players start with a lvl 80 boost, their real question is:
    Which elit to play?
    Would you make a video about that? :D

    • @CrimFerret
      @CrimFerret 5 лет назад

      If you gotta level 80 boost right away and want something that will survive noob mistakes and still take down the mobs, while being interesting....Reaper Necromancer using a Minion build. You don't even need an elite skill with warrior and can just use a 5 signet build and be fine.

    Don't Pick necromancer. It teaches you bad habits that don't translate at all to other classes. once you've learned how to play the game, play necromancer. But don't pick necromancer unless you want to learn how to play the game wrong.

    • @Matrixinity1
      @Matrixinity1 6 лет назад +14

      I actually had the opposite experience. I picked Engi first and then Mesmer and had a really bad time. Necro actually ended up teaching me mechanics because I was able to stop trying to stop spending so much time learning my class and focus on learning the actual game. Now when I play new classes I can focus more on them because I now know most mechanics in this game.

    • @DemonOfMyMind
      @DemonOfMyMind 6 лет назад +11

      Matrixinity1 I've spent a lot of time teaching people in the game and forums how to use necromancer and from my experience with them is that a vast majority of them fail to grasp mechanics and weaknesses of other classes. I've had several necromancer mains express that they didn't understand what they were doing wrong when using something like Mesmer.
      On a side note, when I started GW2 the necromancer was the absolute most difficult leveling experience at the time. It isn't now, but it's overall DPS was about a 3rd of what it is now, life force gain took about 4 different encounters to Max instead of 1 or 2, condi wasn't a real option because the stack caped at 25, torment didn't exist, necros couldn't use burning, Death shroud would be burned away in one encounter, you only had 4 skills in shroud, fewer traits to work with, no stability, no projectile blocks, minions didn't have the 90% damage reduction in pve when not being focused and would be pacifists most the time, they couldn't heal themselves in shroud even with life stealing. They used to be the absolute worst class to level and play. They've gotten much better.
      As for what I think is a good class to teach people how to play? Guardian. Their mechanics lend itself well to the diversity of the game. They have easy access to combo finishers early on, provide a tone of different boons, have a mechanic that can be both selfish and supportive, They have so much self healing and blocks that the player is forced to consider their skills more. Unlike the necromancer which actively locks you out of skills has 3 combo finishers while leveling two of which are on staff and hard to notice and the other is attached to a minion and hard to notice, very little access to boons. Guardian in my opinion is the best teaching tool.
      Also Mesmer and engineer are hard for people to grasp at first. Or so I've been told. I love those two classes, and don't find them that difficult. Rangers I find difficult. But I'm odd. But my perspective is not based on my opinion but rather my obsession and the vast majority don't see ranger that way.

      DatBread BreadBoy I highly disagree. Out of all of the necromancers mains I've played with who started as necromancer I am the only one who has the versatility of play style to adapt to other classes. Everyone else I've played with can't adapt to new play styles and are eternally locked on reaper.

      That's true if you buy Path of Fire, but I feel like even then after you finish the mount masteries it just becomes meh, 3 month waits in between every update is too long and the raid community is cancerous. i found fractals to be just as boring as dungeons. Also the fact that you craft the best gear rather than raiding for it is absolutely retarded and killed half of my incentive to keep playing this game

    TBH I have a really hard time playing core Necro - but Ele is really simple and easy for me. I know I'm probably weird but it's how my brain works. The themes in Necro confuse the hell out of me because they don't match what you might expect a necromancer to be able to do in the order you might expect them to do those things. For example, Necro's have a sort of Vampire build but it doesn't work the way a traditional vampire build would be expected to work. It's not based on bleeding damage, bleeding doesn't give you health - but there's this whole other dynamic of life absorption instead that really only works with a dagger and it's confusing as hell to figure out. Each of the themes in Necro have this problem, there are very powerful and useful effects in places that instinctively you wouldn't expect from a class that introduces itself in character creation to be connected to either a demon, a wraith, or skeleton. I've had so many issues with Necro I've rage quit probably a dozen necro characters.
    Elementalist on the other hand does have a lot of details to remember, but if you go into this class thinking about a basic wizard class with low health - or that it's naturally going to be a glass cannon, because virtually all basic wizard classes are exactly that - then I think you'll be pretty much ok with this class. Just stick to fire staff for a while until you can experiment with other options and your set as long as you remember to keep your distance from enemies, just like you would any other glass cannon class in any other game. But I do admit that there are plenty of ele combinations that just simply don't work because you're just too weak to handle that type of combo - fire scepter is an example, so that's something game designers should probably work on improving but otherwise if you treat ele like it's simple to play it really becomes really simple to play. (And I say this as a person who started with ele as my first class ever).

    I made my own version of a Bunker/Shout Guardian, and never looked back... I run champ hunting groups and legendary hunting groups often as a commander, so being a guardian really fits the role, and allows me to heal lots of people just by being near to them, and using shouts I can remove a lot of de-buffs and turn them into buffs for them instead.

    Actually my first character was a thief and I felt like she was very noob friendly. Like, deleting whole groups of mobs with my shortbow without getting hit, one shotting single enemies with c&d-backstab and just moving around the map extremely quick. Also stealth prevented a lot of useless fights. Back in the days skipping mobs was harder is some situations, so shadow refuge was a bless. And also the thief signet was the only one in the game that granted 25% movement speed (others used to give 10%) and that was a big plus for exploring
