I'm a WoW refugee who just started playing GW2 about 3 days ago. I'm already hooked and this video just makes me happier with my choice.
welcome to gw2 :D GW2 really sits in its own niche with how its structured and its a fantastic game, so glad to see an influx of new players.
welcome :)
It used to be bad but now it’s super cool, just fun
same here it’s so refreshing
Welcome to Tyria :)
As a new player, I don't think all old players realize how overwhelming it is to start GW2. It throws soooo much stuff at you almost from the get go. THAT said, this video is amazing as providing some structure as to what a GW2 career path generally would look like. ty!
yes it can be , im still learning things in this game because the world has a lot to it, and all the ingame systems there is a lot to learn. But people forget that is the nature of an mmorpg, they are huge and involved living worlds mmorpgs are not meant to be played in a week or too. They are a longstanding hobby that you evolve in. And I wouldnt have it any other way, mmorpgs like this are rich and diverse wonderful worlds to play and grow in. I will tell you this, anet made it so you can always check info if you get lost or confused they have their own info site you can pull up by typing ingame chat /wiki and whatever you need to get info on. So if I wanted to know how to get an ascended weapon ,you can type ingame /wiki ascended greatsword. That will pull up a list of all in the game and how to get them.
Ive never liked to complete the hearts....its such a weak structure....get 10 things here throw it over there, kill some beasts blablabla......
@@sinnstiftung3719 so like every other quest in every other game... wow go kill some boars and bring me 10 tusks..FF go kill some squirrels they are pests ... on and on and on
@@dbrown2430 Fanboy?
@@sinnstiftung3719 no just right, what mmorpg dont you.. go do this, collect that, bring me this?
Moments ago, I was at death's door. After watching this video, not only have my vitals returned to normal, but my brain has expanded by a factor of 3x and I have developed the beginnings of a British accent.
5head
3head oi bruv seem lik ya got all smarty
his accent didn't sound very British to me. is TP from 'up north'?
@@granville7 Nah I doubt it, that isn't a very he's got a very normal British/english accent. Northerners are more distinct, being pretty much half way to a Scottish accent
May I quote you?
Quick note on WvW: While you can play it with the base game, if you want to join a large group of people you will likely need a mount, or you will fail to keep up at some point. The warclaw mount of any other player will give you a speed boost when you are near it, so you can keep up. However if you get out of range, either by mistake, or because you become engaged in combat, there is almost no way to catch up to the group again.
GW2, in my opinion, is by *far* the MMO with the most value for your time and money out there. There is an absolutely *insane* amount of things to do!
Nahh, that's ff14 obviously.
@@celphalonred1999 copium
@@celphalonred1999 Actually have time in the game before you say that
@@celphalonred1999 yeah but ff14 tiny people look retarded
@@celphalonred1999 nah, FFXIV content pale compare to GW 2. I have nearly 6k hours in XIV and done almost content. While in Gw2, my 2k hours just not reach 10% content here.
I probably would have also included a section giving a bit more information on map metas for expansions, particularly Heart of Thorns given just how different they play from core open world and how often they get played and how lucrative their rewards can be (VB being one of the easiest ways to get stat selectable exotic gear without shopping the trading post, and Tarir being an actual gold mine). But otherwise this was very comprehensive and well presented. Well done.
I love map metas, thats pretty much what I do while waiting for my guild to assemble for WvW
"easiest"
VB?
Been seeing a lot of new youtubers/streamers coming to the game, hopefully this will help guide them and keep engaged for a while. We get fresh blood quite a lot, but some people leave in confusion. Well, here we go, Teapot to the rescue!
That confusing part was a major thing for me as well, the effort he put into this really does the game and it's makers a great service.
This comment describes my first experience with the game YEARS ago vs. my current enjoyment of the game. :)
People who leave out of confusion are weak.
@@poisonated7467 in a sense, perhaps they are. But it's still a good thing to have some basic guidance, most of the game's content are individual sections that you won't be guided to unless you look for them or research. Effort which many aren't willing to bother with
@@poochpanda4796 I would say that no guidance is the better way to go, spoilers are bad no matter the genre. Im not a child, I can figure the game out myself.
As for many that arent willing to put in the effort.. well... That's just because they're the victims of bad game design. Its truly sad that people dont really understand what they want from an MMO because all they've played is trash MMOs.
SOOOO happy there's an up to date video for this. I remember getting into this game about a year ago and having such a hard time figuring out how to progress past max level.
Your videos are always so well thought-out and executed. Even as a veteran who this isn't aimed for, it's still enjoyable to watch :)

@@CeIinky damn me too, I love hearing the screams of kids
This is the clearest and most helpful video I've seen on GW2 and answered so many questions I had since coming back to the game a few months ago. Amazing job. Your script writing and succinct explanations are just a level above the rest. Will check out your streams!
I remember the release of HOT expension. It was 9:30 AM saturday morning and was downloading the new stuff while waiting at a portal in Lions Arch with so many players. Legit one of my most exciting memories of GW2.
I always come back to GW2 for the PvP.
*_1.695.001_* players in the last 30 days and recently I became one of them, best decision I made so far.
Nicely done. Good info. Was feeling bogged down after playing for a year. Great to know that I can do an entry level fractals. Thanks!
you didn't mention guild halls... dang it man, some folks spend hundreds of hours decorating it :D
yeah... I learned the whole guild hall from scratch thing is a mind-blowing time sink and material hog, but fun to do! (but def not for everyone)
Yeah, im on a personal quest of mine of making roller beetle race track, we're a small guild with few friends playing, but all it takes is to log in each day and complete all the races on gold, then get like 3 road parts and put them on a track. Maybe in a month i'll be able to complete it xd
As someone who started the game yesterday, I thank you good sir. This was super helpful! Looking forward to the journey.
Just the vid I needed! I always come back and forth to GW2, but it feels so overwhelming after being away for so long. This has shown me where to focus my attention for the time being! Thanks 👍
This made me realize how vast the game is and I already have 3k hours on it
16k here and still having fun :D I just wish there was more raids, last one was 2 years ago!
3k hours is not much tbh, since most gw2 players are oldies. Once you go gwacc you never go bacc
@@GBEWgw2 because the game is vast you can spend 10k hours in pvp only or just doing meta events
@@GBEWgw2 I'm sorry what ? 😂
@@GBEWgw2 Get a grip of yourself, no one is attacking you.
What I'm saying is that 3k hours is alot when you put it in the context of a game, but knowing A LOT of people, in this particular game, have much more, by definition, since "a lot" is subjective, it becomes not so much.
Amazing video. As a new player this is very helpful. I just hit 80 and I was like.. "what do?". That being said, having the video footage alongside of you speaking of the various "modes" of gameplay, was very very helpful. As well as the text you added in the top left corner. Thanks again! Also, you have a great voice and speaking skills. Much appreciated! :)
This was excellent. Please do this for more specific parts of the game. The easy overview and great narration makes it really easy to consume. Ty!
I'm on it!
I love doing some WvW with a friend of mine, or even exploring maps, it's so fun, and "relaxing"
I have played off and on for over 8 years, and only just started playing a bit more regularly. This has been incredibly helpful to give me an idea of what there is to do at 80 (beyond play through 2 expansions worth of Story).
Very thorough. Excellent job explaining!
This is the VIDEO we needed let's go!! This is awesome.
What an excellent and clear intro guide, things make a lot more sense to me now starting this game.
Great video. As someone who started GW2 recently there are a lot of things to do at level 80, but it's really rewarding to explore all the different types of content. I find everything so much more enjoyable than other MMOs because any progress you make will not be lost every patch or update.
This was a great video. I was not sure if i should start playing the game but now you made me sure. Thanks for your efforts.
Dude, amazing video, been playing gw2 for a few days now and this has really helped me wrap my head around things
Love the video, something I am saving so I can share to new players. Keep up the BIG GAMING the Mightiest of Teapots.
A friend of mine introduced this game to a some of us in our DnD group, so this video is very helpful for us new players!
When MightyTeapot does a better job of explaining the game than the devs. Respect and thank you for doing this for the community. Playing since launch
as a new player and not knowing anything about this game this video got me really excited. i wish other games had videos like this so i know what to do and why i’m doing them :)
I quit GW2 right before heart of thorns was release....your videos makes me want to come back to the game. Thanks for that.
Great content, as someone just trying the game for the first time and only has a LVL 11 engineer, very helpful. Ty!
Thank you for this concise summary of information. I'm at the point where I have maxed a couple of professions but wasn't sure how to move forward. Cheers.
Downloaded GW2 the other day for the first time in 6 years and was overwhelmed with everything available, so this was a great video, thanks!
As a new player to GW2 this is a great help to me thank you.
Great video! Thanks for doing this!
I love how recently they unlocked all the living world content for free, if you happen to log in on the days they did that. Now I have all my my Living World seasons caught up, and for free.
you know, I often login open my daily reward and am plagued with decision fatigue, then i promptly log out. now ill think of all the stuff I can do in this video before I do
The dailies (not the login reward) are always a good place to start. Get the 10 AP, the 2G, and by the time you've got that done, you've usually got a plan. That's what I do anyway when I have that "gamer block" going on. It's like a warmup.
@@Daiska_Plays yeah dailies can also be good for those days you don't really have much free time to play, so you hop in, do dailies for 20 minutes and get that fulfilling sense of achievement for the 2 gold
Finally got around to watch the whole thing this morning. I think you perfectly summarize the most important parts of each type of content. Good content WICKED
Great video highlighting the things that can be done in the game. Now I can send people here if they ask me what there is to do in GW2, thanks
Lovely video, thanks!
Great overview and very well written.

This was well done, thanks for the info
Awesome video!! Only missing special events/festivals and guild content
Great video. Thanks for all of the info.
When I hit lvl 80, my first goal was getting a set of ascended armor to play t4 fracs. Now, 1500hrs in and w 5/6 legendary armor pieces, I barely do fractals and now I'm looking into strikes, drms and raids, as I can play these w any class and try different gear/builds without the hassle of decking out in ascended, I don't want to get ascended on all my toons so I can pretty much play t4 on 1 build/class. While being able to play every other content w exotic gear
Great video! This will help alot of new players to an idea what they can do. Even for a veteran casual like me, this is helpful :)
Since the beta events I have been just... playing. But this video, it gave my game a purpose. Thank you, MightyTeapot.
Another activity is the seasonal festivals/events. At the time he posted this video Super Adventure Box is going on.
And then you have the completionnist that just joined the game.. say last year. They see that said seasonal events have achievements that won't be capped until they either double their current age... or die (aka 20 years)
man i wish i started playing this game sooner, thanks for your content
im a returning player after many years so this guide helps a lot with getting my bearings!
Great video, thank you.
i am also a wow refugee that found this gem thanks for this i was very overwhelmed by the stuff gw2 throws at you i bought the 3 expansions looking forward to explore the world with my human rogue
i love your beginners friendly videos ! it helps me a lot
great info! Thanks Teapot
Has it already been almost 10 years? Wow, this random youtube suggestion sure brings me back in time. I miss jumping puzzles so much. :)
I'm definitely going to use this video in response to people asking about the game
One of the best gw2 videos. I just wish it was in 1440p or higher.
Well, now I want to do everything at the same time. Great video!
excellent content as always 👌🏾
i really needed this! tysm
I wish every MMO had a video like this. It's so easy to get overwhelmed with stuff when returning to theme park MMOs.
Everytime I saw a review, I love GW2 more and more!!!
i have arround 800 hours in this game i would say you explain every bit so good it could even still help me
This is a great guide! I've been playing for over 6 years but I'll be referring to this in the future because it's just such a good breakdown of everything, and it makes me feel motivated to play! Haha not sure what it is, maybe just the realization the game is so damn good
love to see these guides!
Exceedingly helpful. Thank you.
high quality content, well done 👍😊
Thank you for this guide, i have played like 4 hours and im level 10 i was kind of confused but this video removed my confusion
Again, huge info. Thank you.
Superb guide
What an amazing guide mate. Thank you!
You are welcome!
Thx for the video I just came back to gw2 after 6or7 years and was just overwhelmed what actually to do
At 8:30 that joke came so out of nowhere I found it really funny. Well done
How many sheep do i have to sacrifice to summon cmc?
Fantastic video Tpot.
Excellent video that gives a good high level overview of the current different game modes.
subscribed, amazing presentation
I just got back to GW and this game is still amazing... very hyped
I love how far this game has gone, the last time I play GW2 was in 20014
Brilliant summary :)
Anet should pay you for making best advertisement for their game. Amazing video!
Flavorful and concise; like a pot of well-made tea.
Awesome video thank you very underrated!
Fantastic breakdown of what’s on offer for the game. I’m new to the game and will be starting once I decide on what profession to play. 😅
Great video. I was addicted to GW2 when it was first released but moved to a new country where my internet isn't strong enough to handle the game except on the lowest settings (sad face). One thing you didn't mention is events! I log in every Halloween for Shadow of the Mad King! My fave holiday.
I play GW2 only for flying on the Griffon aka mount sports (?). I guess I am one of just 0,1% of all players who do that but hell, it's so much fun!
I log in, I kill 2 mobs then just fly on my griffon
this was a pretty solid video, cheers :)
really good video. I am glad i have found it
I hope when the next expansion comes out, people are pointed here for quality content and getting started.
What quality content exactly?
Great video mate
Wow, as someone just starting out now I'm even more overwhelmed!
Thanks! This was very useful. GW2 is downloading as I watch this & a few other vids. I've decided to dump Black Desert Online and went looking for a better replacement that wasn't insanely grindy! I also play Destiny 2, Path of Exile & The Elder Scrolls Online primarily. I have a few other online games I play now & then & several PC SP games.
I am looking forward to getting started tomorrow (I'm in Australia & it's 11 PM). 😊 Subscribed (I'm sure I'll need some other info as I progress). 😉😏
I love this game, but it can be overwhelming for newer players. Mainly because there is so much to do, and many rewards revolve around achievements. the achievement system is amazing you can get some amazing rewards for. So I tell people to check achievement panels to see what you may want to focus on. The game is open ended and anyone can find their niche in GW2, like pvp and big battles on battlefield maps that are big zones, there is WvW or world vs world, like raiding? ..there are good amount of raids, and you can do them normal or hard mode. Fractals are really fun and go from easy to extreme to fit your taste. If you are a person that just like to put around the world doing want you want you can! I played wow for 13 years and im not looking back lol.
Amazing video!
damn super informative video, definitely considering playing again
