since some of these cars are untitled, unregistrered and are technically brand new, does that mean GM would have to honor their original warranties? jk
my friend Bryce, grew up across the road from them old cars that sat out in the country and were in the trees,he said he played in in the cars when he was little.he always told me about them,i had always heard the stories of this place for years..about 23 years ago i run a milk truck in that area and decided to just stop and look in the main building,it looked the same back then as it did when they pulled the cars out of it for the auction...kinda neat....
Wouldn't mind fixing up an old 4-door. Would be nice for driving around on summer nights. They don't all have to be street-bruisers, maybe just a casual sleeper.
How did these cars end up just sitting there for all these years? Did the owner die? I would have thought the family would have sold everything long before now, just letting them rot like this is such a shame....Did most of the cars sell in this auction?
Welcome to Nebraska, Dan. Thanks for shooting the video. I would have loved to go up there but figured I'd be walking from my home in Omaha. It must have a dream come true to see these original new cars. Truly a once in a lifetime event.
So cool...like classic car Heaven! I would not care if the cars were 2 or 4 door...they are all beautiful and although they would cost for restoration, etc., most could be done nicely and cherished by the new owners. To a true collector, or of anything one can collect, the number one reason for doing it all, is for the love of it....never dollar signs.
I’m sure he is selling these cars for way more than what they would be worth brand new in perfect shape! I notice a lot of 4 doors, I’m sure even back then they wanted a 2 door! Dude you got to realize 50k to 75k was a lot of miles on these cars back then! They would start smoking and knocking! I’ve seen many cars these days that have 500k plus if you keep the up keep without rebuilding the motor! I seen a Chevy HHR with over 500k miles with same engine and tyranny with no rebuild! Their is no way you could get those miles out of any of these cars, but I like these cars a lot better! They had style!
If I wasn't so old and crippled up with back problems I'd buy a classic and fix it up probably a 57, but I live in Minnesota and thy ruin the roads with too much salt which eats steel.
When the new models come out they have to do something to the old cars and some trade in's if there was something wrong with them they where parked untel they could be fixed but some where never fixed
I am a car guy. Sadly, the History Channel had a film crew making a video of this, and i don't think any of them were car guys. They put their film on TV, and mostly they talked about themselves and their stories about their cars they had, meanwhile a phenomenal automotive occurrence was taking place, ...and they missed it with "their" stories. Thanks for the compliment. My videos show the cars.
*OMG 58 impala 2dr My FAVORITE! wow no miles at all on that one they put 4 miles on them at the plant which means this thing was only driven a couple miles wow! what kind of price did they bring? i imagine even6 yrs ago it was still pretty high*
It's odd that even though these cars have rediculously low mileage; less than 8000, most of them are in such hammered condition, that it kind of negates the low mileage.
There is a gent who purchased a 4 door and welded the panels to make it a 2 door. He was careful and pulled it off. Car is gorgeous and looks factory. The channel is something speed shop. Look it up and be ready to be amazed!
Thanks for the video Dan! I am sure that some very nice rides will result from this sale. Plenty of great basics there to begin with. I keep watching for more on your 63 and the old Dinosaur. Cheers OLDDUDE
I was watching this last night drinking some Marsmallow flavored vodka. Me and the wife had the fire place going, and she toasted some marshmellows and put it in our vodka drinks. We don't know what happened after that we woke this morning with our heads stuck to the carpet.
I read that one of the cars at that auction was the owners son's old 67 nova 2 door. wonder if that was it? Also My brother was there and my former employer was also there :)
Poor financial management. Today's dealers dispose of vehicles within 24-48 hours. The potential revenue streams would have paid the mortgage on a beautiful property in Miami. Instead the elderly owners spent their final years in some crappy hick hole in Nebraska. A beautiful pool in Coral Gables beats a Nebraska blizzard, any day.
I took my sons and nephew. It was fun to look but everything went for way more money than it was worth. I think the 4 door rose colored 57 went for 40K to a women from Australia.
Norman Williams Yeah, I think she was on the broadcast that history channel did for the auction. I hear old cars are hard to come by in Australia, and they are very enthusiastic for even the 4 door sedans which tend to get dumped on here in the states. I always hated that mentality because they are affordable and you can get a good driver that you can enjoy today without losing your house and your wallet trying to restore a hardtop or a convertible which sometimes can run into the 6 figure digits. Then you spend so much money on a car, you worry about every little scratch and nick and it takes the fun out of it. 40 grand for a 57 chevy sedan, even if it's all there is nuts. She could easily end up putting another 40 grand in it for mechanics, chrome, paint and interior. I have a 57 Belair Sedan that was restored back in 2000 and I only paid $8500 through eBay for it. Needed a valve job and replaced the old Power Glide transmission which was getting wonky with a more modern 3 speed with overdrive and I still haven't come close to touching the money she dropped on this car. I hope she bought it as a labor of love and really enjoys it, because no way will she make back the money she spent on it.
This auction was too popular. Everything i saw sell went for twice its value, imo. 57 chevy 4drs very weathered were selling for 10k. It was epic to watch, but crazy to buy at.
I have a 60 impala 2dr ht i pulled out of a bone yard i payed 400 for 5 years ago. I put lots of money into it parts are hard to find so i lost intrest now it just sits ther e. Im yoing to sell it soon i hope dont start something you cant finish
Agree. This particular auction attracted folks from all over the country and that drove the prices for almost all of these cars through the roof. I bet several buyers were kicking themselves after they got their purchase(s) home.

It would be good to have the money to do some of theses cars up very beautiful looks

Guys in Cuba would go nuts over these.

Hey Dan I have really enjoyed all your videos of this auction. Looks like you sure know a lot about the old Chevy cars!
I’m sure he is selling these cars for way more than what they would be worth brand new in perfect shape! I notice a lot of 4 doors, I’m sure even back then they wanted a 2 door! Is everything being sold with no reserve? Seems a shame that they were all left to the elements the way they were for so long.
If I wasn't so old and crippled up with back problems I'd buy a classic and fix it up probably a 57, but I live in Minnesota and thy ruin the roads with too much salt which eats steel.
Fields of chevys...........Fields of heaven :)
My dad left me for a bag of skittles
We're is that place?
Este belair é ano 1957
We had a 57 Chevy station wagon we I grew up and when you opened up the doors you always heard that sqweek
What is the background story or event behind all these vehicles and how did they end up here?
When the new models come out they have to do something to the old cars and some trade in's if there was something wrong with them they where parked untel they could be fixed but some where never fixed
I need a 55
I couldn't believe what the 58 Cameo Pickup went for. Wasn't it 175,000
Where is this place at ? What town ? What state ?
Not sure what kind of car that is at 2:55but i can picture that car restored lookin bad.

Dude you did a awesome job videoing this event. I still wished I could have went!!

Daniel Restodan yea well those idiots don't care!! They just see as another job they gotta do!!! It's sad. You did awesome brother.
i wish they had cars like this here up for auction
It's criminal what that dealer did to these cars! 😡👿
*OMG 58 impala 2dr My FAVORITE! wow no miles at all on that one they put 4 miles on them at the plant which means this thing was only driven a couple miles wow! what kind of price did they bring? i imagine even6 yrs ago it was still pretty high*
Anybody know of a salvage yard around missouri that has 55-56-57 chevrolet's. Would appreciate any help. Thanks.
1965bickconvert😊
those were mostly all trade ins

Amazing what time can do all by itself!
Correct I'm a perfect example.
Just like my now deceased parents used to say: "Son, old age is UGLY".
There is a gent who purchased a 4 door and welded the panels to make it a 2 door. He was careful and pulled it off. Car is gorgeous and looks factory. The channel is something speed shop. Look it up and be ready to be amazed!
Where is this place at
Carros incríveis 👍 todos em condições de restauração 👍
That's some cool stuff! I wish I could have one.
Thanks for the video Dan! I am sure that some very nice rides will result from this sale. Plenty of great basics there to begin with. I keep watching for more on your 63 and the old Dinosaur. Cheers OLDDUDE
All the cars are for sale?
I was watching this last night drinking some Marsmallow flavored vodka. Me and the wife had the fire place going, and she toasted some marshmellows and put it in our vodka drinks. We don't know what happened after that we woke this morning with our heads stuck to the carpet.
Hey Dan hindsight grab a rear door panel lol
...seems they saved a disproportionate amount of 4-door sedans....now, those '56-'57 4 door hardtops... :) :)
Holy cow, Restodan went to Lambrecht? he must've felt like he died and went to heaven! This is right in Restodan's "wheelhouse" ;)
I still cant figure out why they just sat there ,,somethings not making sense here.Maybe personal problems of some kind.?
Did they go for reasonable prices?
Nice
Looks like someone knew they were there besides the owners. They were being stripped slowly by someone.
Excellent seeing your vid! My friend was out there too. I couldn't make the trip unfortunately.
Very nice, I wished I could have been their, it would have been amazing!
Back in the 70s and 80s you could pick these up for 4to 800 dollers. Now the price is unreal
They look like cars that you see abandoned everywhere in the Fallout game series.
I read that one of the cars at that auction was the owners son's old 67 nova 2 door. wonder if that was it? Also My brother was there and my former employer was also there :)
Damn that noise is annoying dude....jeez
Its pitiful, to look at the prices and parts that sorry people stole off of them. I hate a theif.
Leave it there please please please I love Chevrolet more than anything on the planet but leave the four-door there
En q país del mundo tienes esos gladiadores

One man's blizzard is another man's white Christmas.

+guardian08527 Hey, if you restored it to top notch with only 6 miles, wouldn't the Barret-Jackson auction bring like a $100,000 or more?
$40k for a 4 door, 57 Bel Air with 47k miles on it. Hum. . . . The prices the people paid for these cars is nuts.
Norman Williams I wouldn’t take a four door even if it were free!
Are any of the 4doors left
i dig the guys with under body inspection mirrors
Lots of gems...thanks...
Nice I wish I lived there I would have gone
lot of 4doors ,not really desirable for muscle car collectors.
That is the truth Ron, thankfully parts can be salvaged.

People who bought these will probably never get there money back. Some of these are not even desirable in most people's eyes. Dumb
Agree. This particular auction attracted folks from all over the country and that drove the prices for almost all of these cars through the roof. I bet several buyers were kicking themselves after they got their purchase(s) home.
