It almost makes me want to cry. I don't know which bothers me more, the fact that I could not be there, or the fact that all these cars and trucks were just left out in the weather with no apparent attempt to preserve them. Thanks for the videos.
Thank you thank you very much for that one of the greatest video you made!I was feeling that we were in the year 50 and 60.Those were the car that i was driving in my time.I am now 74 years old.My neighbour bought a bran new 1960 Chevrolet Impala convertible black and red inside.Wow what a beautiful car.It had a V8 inside.
very good vid i was born in 63 and to see cars like that brand new but never sold is so kool. time has gone by and you see the plastic on the seats.i really had no idea cars like that was really out there.50 years plus.great vid dan thank you.
car rust from just sitting weathered for years, The cars during the 60's 70s did not have a rust protecting paint like they do today. If you went purchase an ordered a car from the dealer with a under coat that was to protect the bottom floors and trunk it would have made it last longer. very nice video for some of us that could have not made it. I have a 1964 2 door coupe 425 cu motor Riviera that look brand new. I know it was a chevy dealer I have own the 64 Impala recent and other old cars.
Lots of rusty gold there! I met you there if you remember, but I could'nt retrieve my film of the event cause I did'nt push the record button. At any rate, I think those old dinosaurs came from the factory with Olds engines already installed as an option. I may stand to be corrected on this-but I believe a guy out in Oregon I am subscribed to says this too. His channel is "classic truck rescue". Take care and I really enjoy your vid's!
At 202 in this video is 72 Chevy truck that is olive green and white. I watched videos on RUclips yesterday from the guy that bought that truck. There are 3 videos on his restoration. His channel is Bob Doe. Just thought I'd let you know.
i was drooling over all the trucks and two door cars. wonder how much he made after everything sold ? even the posters and props went for thousands. the pickers and man cave guys bought that stuff. wall hanger stuff too. big bucks. then all the parts and accessories, my god, it looked like heaven to me. did you buy anything ?
whats left of them are very perfect just need sanding and paint hoses belts stuff like that. he made that much money that he could do this ? how in the world could he do this? He was making so much off the ones he was selling he could afford to do this? man he was an eccentric.
If your getting started in this hobby , I hope you have deep pockets because it is expensive, Tip, cars like this would need to have the radiators re cored, New batteries new paint new tires new carpet maybe, check brakes lines and flush gas tanks ect.. These car are awesome because you have all the original parts of the triming ect. Takes about 10k to 30k depending on what level you want your car to be.
Some things I just don't understand when I read the story about this guy is why he never wanted to sell a used car or last years model and why he just parked these cars in a field and never look back at them. But in the end when I was watching the auction online and seeing what these cars sold for he made a lot more money on most of them then he would have gotten if he had sold them new for full sticker. So maybe he was smart after all....
Hey I seen a '53 stude there at 5:08! lol I betcha not one person that went there got the car they wanted or any car! They all sold to the rich on the internet phone bids for twice as much as anyone there would want to pay!!
It would be strange to hear your Grandfather traded in his old car for a new one in 1968 or so, and then to see the one he traded in still there and buy it back..
Old man Lambrecht must have been quite the character, quite the rich character indeed. How the heck could he have afforded to buy all these new cars and never sell them? And, why oh why would he allow them to be destroyed this way...
What's the point in a trade-in if he didn't believe in selling second hand cars? The guy sounds nuts! Good that he kept the cars but these were worthless when parked up, unless he knew that hanging on to them they would be collectable one day.
I do agree that the storage method was unfortunate, but the auction grossed $4.7M -- who has more money than brains now? Lambrecht was a very successful dealer, and he knew what he could sell and what he couldn't in the days of yearly model changes.
I cant understand how that dealer could even afford to let new cars set like that, they were still in his inventory even after a year, it would seem the factory would eventually stop sending him cars he cant or wouldnt sell, this dealer had to have taken a loss
Sad those cars sat there all these years just deteriorating. The guy must have lost his shirt on his car business. There's at least a couple hundred thousand dollars worth of inventory there in 1960's money.
How could he have made any money with this huge inventory that was never sold? Something doesn't seem to add up, even though the facts are there to prove it true.
It is bad enough that you see an old car rotting away in someones yard or vacant lot. Then when you see literally 100s of "brand new" Chevy vehicles rotting and rusting away by the elements??!! Unbelievable!!
The profit margins for motor dealers at that time must have been huge for him to write off the investment of so many cars that were just last year's model.
So, What's the deal with this Lambrecht guy ??? Health got bad and NOW he wants to sell ? Property taxes ?? Inheritance sale ??......Personally, All of these '1-Mile' vehicles are worst off than a half-decent, hi-millage driven ! They all need TOTAL restorations. You could find the same vehicle somewhere else that needed less work with a load of miles and made it nice for far less what it would cost to fix one of these...Probably for what one of these went for at this auction and still have 'Change' left over ! Aside from the fact that a lot of the vehicles in this video was new and undriven, At the end of the day, This was nothing more than a 'RAT'S NEST' junk yard sale !!!! The 'Low-To-No-Millage' and whatever other 'Labels' were accredited with these automobiles doesn't override the amount of neglect and disregard. The Cubans must be experiencing hi-blood pressure over this one !!!!
My thoughts exactly. Makes no sense to take on one of these rust buckets when you can buy a good original or restored late 50's or early 60's car for less than what it would cost to restore one of these heaps, unless you have money to burn then it doesn't really matter. Rich people can afford to be fools I guess.
David Locke Dave I totally agree with ya. Sitting I in a desolate place out in the elements!! Then fricken thieves doin their midnight auto recycling!!
go to :52 and tell me how someone would be restoring that...... Thats not mold, or dirt. And all we are seeing is the top side. 90% of these cars were stored outside, and were sunk up to the axels. Once the frenzy is over most of this stuff will end up going for scrap[.
What a waste of cars and trucks. They shouldn't have been left to rot like that. Cars and trucks are made to be driven not sit and look pretty. I don't care what kind of vehicle it is its meant to be driven and taken care of. What did these vehicles do to deserve to be put in a field and forgotten about? What an m effin waste. What those vehicles could have been today if allowed to be purchased and put on the road.
I dont know.why he didnt just return them to gm. It seems like this lambret feller was filthy fucking rich because somebody had to pay for them i dont understand who gave this man the authority to dispose of these cars.. Somebody please enlighten me if any body knows of the story please share it with me

My son had a 77 or 78 Caprice. A beautiful car. Quiet, smooth riding,
just like a Cadillac...
very good vid i was born in 63 and to see cars like that brand new but never sold is so kool. time has gone by and you see the plastic on the seats.i really had no idea cars like that was really out there.50 years plus.great vid dan thank you.
What’s crazy is I bet these rust buckets auctioned off for way more than when they were shiny and new!
Boy, that plastic over the seat covers did a whole lot of good. Guy was a nut case for sure.
Yeah!! I do understand this thinking of why would you take brand spanking new vehicles and cast them out to the south 40??!!
Thanks Dan for taking us along on this amazing journey! Those old vehicles were
Very beautiful old cars wow
I can't believe how many nice cars were put out to pasture to rust away.
I bet we will see some of the better ones go across the Barrett Jackson block sometime in the future.
My first car, 64 impala just like the one in the video. Paid $75 for it in 1974. 283 with a PG.

whats left of them are very perfect just need sanding and paint hoses belts stuff like that. he made that much money that he could do this ? how in the world could he do this? He was making so much off the ones he was selling he could afford to do this? man he was an eccentric.
Love those 75 caprices
Thank you for your videos!!
wow we had junkyards like this one here in the bay area but all the new cars destroyed them !!!
This is EXTREMELY sad stuff right here. I hope someone gets some of these great Detroit iron maidens and restores them!!!!!
Absolutely amazing!

I wish I was there.

Amazing...Wonder what he planned to do with them?
was wondering did most of these sale for more than what was on the sticker price in the window?
were there many '57 Chevy 2 door there? I see a lot of 4 door cars
Hey I seen a '53 stude there at 5:08! lol I betcha not one person that went there got the car they wanted or any car! They all sold to the rich on the internet phone bids for twice as much as anyone there would want to pay!!
Well then the joke's on the rich fools who thought they were getting something good, but only a parts car at best!
@@MisterMikeTexas so true!
Dealership owner had to be a nut!
It would be strange to hear your Grandfather traded in his old car for a new one in 1968 or so, and then to see the one he traded in still there and buy it back..
I wonder how much money they would have brought if they had been stored indoors?
Now that is literally the 10 million dollar question :P
Hard to say??!!
Old man Lambrecht must have been quite the character, quite the rich character indeed. How the heck could he have afforded to buy all these new cars and never sell them? And, why oh why would he allow them to be destroyed this way...
What are they selling for??
How many auctioneers did they have selling?
Some things are impossible to understand. Hopefully, most of these found new homes!
Donde Es eso Que país Es
Num lugar desses eu acho que ficaria maluco 👍

What's the point in a trade-in if he didn't believe in selling second hand cars? The guy sounds nuts! Good that he kept the cars but these were worthless when parked up, unless he knew that hanging on to them they would be collectable one day.
Is these cars brand new or?

You might have a point there, but he's probably too old now to even enjoy the money. That's assuming he's still alive.
I'm looking for a 1968 Impala SS
who would have all the keys for this huge collection?
I cant understand how that dealer could even afford to let new cars set like that, they were still in his inventory even after a year, it would seem the factory would eventually stop sending him cars he cant or wouldnt sell, this dealer had to have taken a loss
It was a unique event, kinda sad that they were not stored better.
Did you buy any car
Sad those cars sat there all these years just deteriorating. The guy must have lost his shirt on his car business. There's at least a couple hundred thousand dollars worth of inventory there in 1960's money.

Yeah who knows. I was there and tried to get the "real" story out of locals but all basically rumor.
It is bad enough that you see an old car rotting away in someones yard or vacant lot. Then when you see literally 100s of "brand new" Chevy vehicles rotting and rusting away by the elements??!! Unbelievable!!

thats a shame man brand new vehicles just rusted and abandoned :(
How in the hell did this guy make money?
every year a car sits devaluates 10 years
I don't think all those cars will sell.
I'd want get out of there too, that a total waste. A true case of more money than brains.

How in the hell did GM not terminate this idiot's franchise?!! And how did he stay in business as long as he did? What a waste of wonderful iron!!
Sad, what a waste, so many vehicles that are rusted beyond junk level. Four miles or not, its no good if you can only rescue the window glass....
496 cars
