The Sims 2 really knows how to break the child's psyche, not only towns. When my friend and I were 7 years old, we first sat down to play Sims 2 and downloaded a lot of things like mods, and when we opened one of the standard towns it was like white toilet paper. I mean the whole town. We were very scared then. When we entered the first family we came across, there was no one on the icons on the left and they were all red. Sims were invisible, only doors opened and instead of pets, only bones moved. And the whole sky was red as hell. We got very scared then and turned off the game. I have a corruption story: Once i adopted a puppy, everything was fine, i closed the game and a few hours later i came back and my puppy were forced to play toddler animations, it was terrifiying. I tried removing the creature from my household and it worked, i adopted a toddler and quitted the game again, this time my toddler were forced to play pet animations. After this, i never adopted a child or a pet again.
I can’t believe I’ve never seen any corruption, as a kid I always deleted families from the bin, deleted gravestones, tried adding npcs like the burglar, grim reaper, ninja, I never knew it was bad!
Personally, I recently went on my Sims 2 game after awhile. I also did a lot of horrendous things like deleting already played sims and I deleted gravestones. When looking at it, the game was severely corrupted. When I was in CAS, there was something wrong with the lighting. It was brighter than usual and I also saw a black box outside and around the windows. Sometimes things were the wrong color. Like the glasses. The lenses were supposed to be green, but it was transparent instead. However, the side facing the sim wasn't green. It was kind of funny to see. I'm pretty sure it was 100% corrupted.
I don't know if it was because of corruption but I once had a sim whose face got stuck in a grin. It was super freaky everything else he did worked as it should but his face did not move! He was even abducted by aliens and he still had that freaky grin though the whole cutscene!
Also, I just remembered that once I used the tombstone of L&D to generate a random baby. And one of the babies parents was a dog? The game had no other signs of corruption or anything so might have just been a glitch. I do have some sims 3 corruption horror tho
@@Grimonvacation ooo I have what I think is a sims corruption horror story. I'll title it "Stuck in the Future." I had my sims go into the future though a portal on his mom's lot. When I tried to leave, it showed nobody's avatar where the portrait was. There was no side portrait on the side of the screen. There was the usual side panels like inventory, bit nothing would happen when I clicked it. I could see my sims, their house, their cat, but I couldn't click or do anything while playing their household. My sims were trapped forever in the future or else they'd corrupt like that. When I switched to his mom's household everything seems fine but there were more glitches and bugs than usual. If I tried to interact with the corrupt sims in his mom's household after they went to the present, things like all of the side portraits lighting up would happen. Things like the side panels like inventory being unclikcable and the game would crash. I think because my sims traveled to the future through a portal on another lot, the sims code was copied in the present. There are 2 verisons of my sims code and if they try to go back into the present, it'll corrupt them. Btw if I try to go back to the present using mods like NRAAS TRAVELER NRAAS OVERWATCH the game completely crashes.
I think the funniest corruption story I had was when my sister tried to make newly weds have a child. She heard the pregnancy tone and everything (She had saved prior to try for baby knowing sometimes the game would crash/have issues). All seemed normal at first...until the husband got morning sickness. We thought maybe it was an error at first. That was until the male got his first pregnant bump like he would during an alien pregnancy. Neither of their genders appeared to have changed (Maybe they had and we didn't notice? I still don't know how this happened). My sister probably would've built it into the story had she not been working on a storyline. She did re-load the save and try this again multiple times, but in consequent attempts the wife did conceive instead. That was the one and only time I ever saw this happen. Somehow we managed to keep our hoods running for like 5+ years with moderate corruption symptoms (gender swaps, glitched wants, ect. It had not progressed to sim pets or anything like that).

Not sure if this a corruption horror story I think it was just a weird glitch but I had a problem with a nanny stealing babies in Veronaville. Happened a few times, but basically when the nanny was done with her day the carpool would come, she would pick up the baby and take it with her when she left, the baby would then be removed from the family (the picture on the left hand side would go) although it would show up back on the sidewalk when I saved and reloaded the game, kind of like when you delete a sim through testing cheats, so the babies weren't actually fully removed from the family. and before anyone comments it was NOT the social worker it was 100% an evil (glitched/corrupted) nanny in Veronaville that stole babies. I even made a post on r/sims2 post about it because I was so concerned and never seen it before. Eventually she just stopped doing it though lmao

Someone on reddit told me it was something to do with baby birthdays, if you miss the baby's birthday for too long or the sims get stuck trying to help with birthday weird stuff can happen like nannies and maids stealing the baby. Got to love the sims 2. :D
I also have a corruption story. This was a couple days ago, i adopted a toddler, i aged him up and saw his family tree...There was a cat in the place where his parents should be and he wasn't related with them at all. I closed the game without saving, adopted a new baby and this didn't happen again. It was really weird and now i'm scared about adopting sims lol
For 10 years now, I love to visit a Sims forums and read stories about various strange bugs. I guess I'm lucky. In all the 7 years that I have played the Sims almost every day, I have not encountered strange bugs in any part of the sims. The only time that scared the shit out of me was long ago in The Sims 3. This was my first time downloading CC. It was a cat ears for children and when I chose a child in CAS, he turned into a huge, distorted monster. After that, I deleted all the CC and did not download anything for about six months. Btw, really love ur contetn. I have found a lot of interesting stuff about sims 2 because of you
Years ago I played the Sims 2. I had 2 teenagers fall in love. They went steady. I had to toggle between the house holds so they can age at the same time. Well just a day before the boy was to be an adult his face got seriously distorted. No matter what I did I could not fix it. Even when he became an adult his face was distorted. I ended up deleting that family all together. But his poor girlfriend still had memories of the relationship. When she grew up she met someone else and had a family with him. Sometimes I would have Sims become invisible. It's funny to see random things floating around. Some of the glitches are funny and the others can be rather creepy.
As great as The Sims 2 is, it was built badly. Literally has hardly any failsafes or anything to prevent the game from corrupting over time. I’ve ran into some strange corruptions in my time. One I do remember is where I had a power surge, and my laptop was plugged in on charge, while I was playing. I was playing the Dreamer family. Dirk had aged up, but when I went to go back, he was a teen, but the game identified him as an adult. The power surge messed up my game somehow.
When I was a kid I never played a family long enough to notice any bad corruption, just the occasional freeze (but that could have just been the computer itself or that I almost never fully turned off the computer when I was done playing and left the game running in sleep mode). I am surprised that I never experieneced anything really bad with the way I ABUSED the cheats all the time. The alien baby family in strange town was corrupt before I started cheating so that I could never progress past a certain point with them. They were doomed to an eternal groundhog day from the beginning.
Recently while playing with mods my entire town disappeared right before my eyes and then deleted itself when I exited and reloaded lol was my first ever corruption in all my like what 20 years of this game??
I love hearing other simmer's experiences with corruption, so this video was a blast. The one with Mortimer creeped me out, though... out of all the stories I've read, that one was new. I had a strange incident occur at least over a year ago now. In one of my older custom hoods (it's still alive and kicking), I had a sim tending to her garden, I believe she was growing tomatoes. Now, I will just say that she was in her home lot; residential not community. Why do I say that? Well in her action queue, the Unsavoury Charlatan's thumbnail appeared. Confused, I hovered over to one of the lot's entry portals to actually see the Charlatan stood their doing his weird poses. I panicked and made the poor woman run into the house, so I could lock all the doors. No one was allowed to leave the house until he left, which he did surprisingly leave on his own after 24 in game hours. He was just stood by one of the locked doors, posing... he isn't supposed to appear on residential lots, so I was worried. Another Story I have, though this may not be corruption based, is my sim's house being overrun by gardeners... none of the six did their job... they just made a mess. And I think I mentioned *NPCSkunkSkin walking into my sim's house uninvited due to child ghosts before. That one was scary, as a pie menu did come up when I clicked on him, but there were only three interactions available and they were all blank. I took him out of the lot with moveobjects and fortunately, my objects.package file was fine 😅
I cant really remember what happend, but I know when I was either 12 or 13 I recently discovered boolprop. I was testing out all the cheats, adding grim to the family tree, spawning a whole bunch of debug objects, and forcing errors on everything. the next time I tried to open up the game it was completely dead. wouldnt load past the title screen. I had to do a complete reinstall. I had 5 years of saves on it aswell as my sisters saves. I cried alot. recently I've been trying to corrupt a backed up save on purpose. So far I've experienced random calls from bugs in a jar asking to come over over at 4 in the morning, and bowling balls appearing randomly on lots. sims 2 is wild.
I watched this video last night, then had a bad dream that my custom neighborhood got horribly corrupted. I backed up my neighborhood and ran the Hood Checker after waking up.
There was a time where I was playing the Sims 2 and I wanted to try the child ghost glitch it cause i thought it sounded so interesting. So I thought by spawning a child ghost on the lot will cause random NPC's to come visit your lot, but what I got was even MORE bizzare. I got normal looking sims (some of which were my neighbors) visting my house but guess what, they were all recognized as ADULT MALES. This included children and toddlers who were literally walking all tall and female sims with male voices. They all literally walked into my sims house without even ringing the doorbell and spent a few minutes walking around inside the house before finally leaving, some were even using their toilet! When I made those sims selectable just out of curiosity, I discovered that all their aspiration meters were red, they had no wants and fears, and all their relationships with other sims were gone. Ngl it was probably the most creepiest thing that has happened to me in my many years of playing The Sims 2.
Yeah, about that bringing friends home from work... I haven’t had freetime expansion pack when I first played the sims 2, but now I have the ultimate collection and I can tell you, Freetime has A LOT of glitches. For example, I played the clean template of Pleasantview and Bella Goth got a chance card from which she would bring a friend home. That friend was the grand vampire. She was coming back home at 3 p.m. Every day, after she came back home, she would bring that vampire home, and he would wait there, while literally smoking, until she greets her daughter, so he could say goodbye and run home to stay alive. Even worse, the game constantly keeps on bringing the same “friend from work” home, so Bella had 100/100 relationship with him, even though all they did was things I mentioned above. I wrote that on the sims 2 Facebook group and someone recommended the mod which asks you about bringing friends from work home - that person had their sim bring back the ghost of Dora Ottomas home.
Same thing happened to me! It’s either Grand vampire or that one butler always being brought home from work, and that same butler coworker/friend even appears from two different careers - politics and military!
The first time I ever experienced corruption was when I first started playing the sims and my go to favorite neighborhood was veronaville. I loaded up the game one day and the neighborhood icon was of the terrain with a big grid all over it. No decor, no sky, no houses, just the bumpy grid. I had thought my brother messed with my game but over the years I realized it was definitely corruption. I could still click on the icon and it would try to load but would eventually crash and then my whole game would be not playable after trying to play it. My biggest corruption was with my most long running game ever, it was over 5 years old. Faces, object textures, patterns, etc. would be plastered over the lots terrain and the only way to make it go away was to record a video. Memories kept repeating themselves (especially the graduated college one). Those weren't terribly interesting, this video makes me wish I had gotten much more interesting corruption.
Aahh the corruption that messes with neighborhoods that people have been playing in for a long time always get me the most. It sucks cause most of the time there’s no way to save it...😭
I had been playing the sims 2 for years, in fact the pleasantview neighbourhood i'm playing now was started in 2010 XD and I had noooo idea about corruption until about a year ago when I suddenly missed playing the sims 2 and downloaded it, made sure it worked and then put the ol' 2010 neighbourhood into the files lol. I read about corruption on reddit for the first time as I had also very recently got into reddit. I'm like lol I have a 10 year old neighbourhood with no corruption, suck on that! But then I started thinking about it and the first thing I had realised was that my kids and even some toddlers in my very populated neighbourhood had life time wants. I didn't think that was correct? So thus began my search of whether or not they were supposed to or not (turns out not) and that my game probably WAS corrupted. I then remembered an incident a while back when one of my teens disappeared and the dad had the memories of $Subject. So what had I done? The biggest thing was deleting graves because (it's so stupid) I had changed my game to Spanish from English as I was learning Spanish. The preset characters names changed (for example Mortimer Goth becomes Homero Lápida haha) which was fine BUT I had some more sims in this neighbourhood who were all named after a soap opera I watch, including graves for the ones that had died lol. Half of thier names changed to random Spanish names and this is before I knew how to change names with the simblender SO I just deleted the tombstones (OOPS) for the ones that had changed to spanish and created a new sim with the last name I wanted for all these sims and made them marry them all so their name changed to the correct last name lol then changed their first name with the tombstone (this took ages!) and then when that was done I killed him and deleted his tombstone too. According to sim pe i also saw in the past I must have created and deleted a family or two at some point from the family bin. I think in the past I reinstalled the game which merged the new files with my old files which you're not meant to do. And lastly, in my lastest reinstall the tombstones I had deleted were back! So... I deleted them again! So there is possibly two sets of data from each floating around (like i said, I knew nothing of corruption at this point!) . So thanks to a sims2 subreddit on reddit, I found out about the anti-corruption mods which I installed, aswell as the batbox which I have used to delete all gossip and corrupted memories, aswell as a mod that deletes all gossip everytime you load a lot. And of course the hoodchecker which I use regularly and I think is perhaps saving my neighbourhood lol. So I haven't had any more sims disappear or lots disappear since then but as I said the kids / toddlers made when it was more corrupted have LTWs (which i'm still trying to fix with Sim PE). Another thing (which is obviously caused by the deleted gravestones) is that some sims keep getting wierd wants. A guy had wants and fears of a girl, who was not in his relationships, that he wanted to call over and what not, so was impossible to fufill. But the funniest one was a kid that had a dog called leroy (not in his relationship panel) that he kept getting all his wants and fears about BUT it was human interactions, like invite over, talk on the phone, entertain etc. My goal was to keep rolling his wants enough so they would go away but they kept coming back eventually :'( Also some toddlers of mine keep wanting to buy a car. Some sims like Daniel Pleasant that I had never even opened the lot had no wants or fears so I had to fix that. And some uni students from the student bin had wants for their room mate that were supposed to be for pets, like "Teach Ty a command" or something! Not as interesting as some of the others but I keep going (with the help of hood checker) as i'm too attached to this neighbourhood now! Another weird thing that happened (which I want to know if it has happened to anyone else?) is that I swear I have a family who just... appeared? The last name is "Placeholder" and there is a dad with brown hair, a mom with red hair in a long ponytail, two twin boys, and a girl. I played with them and grew them up etc but I swear I didn't make them! But maybe I did and I just forgot... but the last name is so weird! I can't even tell you their names as they changed to Spanish ones too as above.
Please read this in your next corruption horror stories video. So I was playing in my favorite neighborhood, Belladonna Cove, and I resurrected Geoff Rutherford’s ancestors (big no-no). Recently, my CAS Sims have switched jobs without my input. I’ve run HoodChecker and found a fair amount of corruption. I am now backing up the neighborhood and preparing to fix it. I hope it’s not past the point of rescue, as I love my Sims there.
I don’t know if this counts as a corruption but I’ll mention it anyway So I was playing with the Ottomas family...the unborn twins’ father turned out to be David (Samantha’s oldest kid). Ever since that happened, I had the craziest idea of having David be the father of 400+ kids (from various different families). Unfortunately, when I made it to (I think) 408 kids (for David) I decided to save & exit the game for the night. Months pass & I play the Ottomas family again, look at the family tree & all of David’s kids (also his relationships with his lovers, etc) ended up getting corrupted & only the Ottomas family (Dora, Peter, Samantha, the two unborn twins, David, Tommy & Sharla) survived (like I barely played them). I was very sad because all of my progress with David was gone & I wondered if the kids David had got erased from existence or were they still in the game but they aren’t related to anyone in the Ottomas family anymore (I sadly never found out). To this day, I’m still sad my progress is gone but it’s one crazy thing to remember every time I play with the Ottomas family. I may try & do this again with David Ottomas but I don’t think I want to go through possibly losing my progress again. Next time, I’ll simmer down on giving David too many lovers & kids 🤣 Also, congrats on 871 subs! I love playing sims 2 & I’m learning some crazy stuff in the corruption world for this game 💚
My incredible game always do what is the worst for me. I always try to avoid corruption at any cost but I just can't xD Once my sim just tried to become witch so of course she needed to become friends with one. Obviously witch was struck by lighting and my sims face just disappeared :)

This reminds me of how a few months back, I had Sims 2, and I have windows 10, but unlike most people, I didn't have to go through a bunch of things in specific to download the game. At the time, when I was first starting out, I remember I knew nothing about Strangetown, I also had no idea Strangetown was super corrupted. I used Strangetown a couple times, well, while nothing weird or out of the ordinary happened to me, nor did I really even know what I did that caused the issue, my assumption is there was possibly some form of game corruption, considering I reinstalled the game, and it still did this. Basically, I played a lot, and I had this family...(family is long lost now due to this situation) there was one day after I saved, I went to play the next day, and my game wouldn't load when I entered the neighborhood, it would get stuck on "Making magic" I did try looking up solutions, and I found nothing. Well, I decide "Ok, maybe if I reinstall it" so...I reinstalled the game (only from the documents folder because I forget there's 2 different versions). Well, it worked at first, but upon saving my family, the game did the same thing again. I eventually uninstalled it entirely since I deleted origin until a couple months later, and now the game is fine, I'm not exactly sure if that was corruption, but I know it was something. Had to of been something I'd done that broke my entire game, although I don't remember doing very much cheats at the time, although, knowing me, and not knowing about the corruption at the time, I could have unknowingly corrupted my game, which is why my neighborhood didn't load. I even tried the other neighborhoods thinking it might have been just that one, but they all broke...so it's best to assume I must've corrupted my game somehow
I moved a roomate into my family via simblender and I corrupted my whole neighborhood. I loved that one . I extracted all the sims and made a new one. It was so much work.
one time my sims had a baby, but the house were they living was small for 3 sims, so i moved out my sims, i played a little bit and leave the game, when i went to use this family, the babie turn to a stranger sim and a never played with them again, sometime ago i find out that the sim was a dead sim from Tricou"s family, his name is Jon Smith Tricou 💀💀
I played a neighborhood for months (4 generations) and everything was fine until I loaded one of my backups and every lot was missplaced. I dont know how but I was calm and I tried to move the lots back. But then i quickly realized that I cant fix it bc there were families even in vacation destinations. It happened a few years ago and I didnt even knew anything about corruption.
Idk if this counts, but I got the sims 3 for xbox 360 and one of my sims was in a public lot and this shrub kept catching fire. No matter how many times it was put out, the shrub would be ok for maybe a few seconds and then catch fire again. My sim was trapped in the lot and the only thing I could do was exit without saving. I haven't really had that many weird things happen when I play the sims.
i've had 2 baby accidently get deleted when i was play their portrait looked weird i think it was them in the air and could only see their legs in the portrait and when i tried to age them up the game throw errors at me over and over again and i can't remember when but there was some crashes i just forgot where when i went back to the lot they where gone and the memories about them were now about simoleon subject

The green thing moved to wherever I clicked but there was no sim lol to make it even creepier I zoomed in and her head appeared but there was no body
That happend long time ago when I was like 8 or 9 (now im 14) I was just playing the sims and everything was just fine untill random townie came to my house, he literally was living his best live in my house and doing random things. When he left, every sim from my family glitched and froze in t-pose. Then every texture in my game started being glitched, like everything was purple and black. After that i was scared of this game and didn't play till next month. (if I wrote something not very easy to understand, i am so sorry, i'm trying my best)
The story involving Mortimer Goth just reminds me so much of the ghost children - creepy grin, teleporting around lot etc? I don't think they Tpose but other than that...
Brandi Broke gave birth in my game and upon reloading the baby completely vanished, not even in the family tree or SimPE. However Brandi did have a blank memory of ‘§Subject’ being born and I could summon them using the teleporter shrub but they behaved as if they were an adult male despite being a baby female, almost like a reverse Knut Futa situation. The ultimate twist to this is this was playing on MeetMeTo’s clean Pleasantview template and just to check it wasn’t me who corrupted it, I reinstalled the hood and got rid of my downloads folder and when Brandi gave birth her baby disappeared upon reloading AGAIN, and this was without me playing any other lots or doing anything else! The rest of the hood seems to be working fine though so I just kept playing and took out Brandi’s blank memory and replaced it with a custom memory of her having a miscarriage and haven’t had any problems since.
The instances that traumatized me in the sims were in sims 3 and not sims 2. Sims 2 crackhead energy was what traumatized me tbh lmao. When it comes to glitches and corruption ....well, there was this time I was playing the sims 3, at the time I think I only had sims 3 base, 2010-11, and I don't know what happened but I clicked on the toddler and his neck just stretched like really thin and worst was that it was looking at me. I swear I was about to call a priest LOOOL. Scared the shit out of me. I immediately closed the game and didn't play for like a day or two.
I play in ST and once Vidcund turn on teenager and get pregnant from nothing. No one mods not saw that. I tried grow he up and all of his clothes disappeared. It's was weird.
I sort of have a corruption story: I once was playing a custom hood i made and a sim in a custom university i also made, and whenever i would click on my sim to make him go to class, he would reset over and over again. i was able to tell he was resetting because the sims thumbnail would keep changing and i didn't have testingcheatsenabled on either so the error pop ips weren't showing unless i turned it on. he couldn't even interact with anything, he would just freeze. I then went on to my downloads folder and deleted my most recent mod (which at the time was Visitor Controller) and that fixed the problem. It made me learn to not install multiple mods at once. there's gonna be a problem. but thankfully i had a backup of that neighborhood and use that instead and now everything is good😄
Considering disappearing neighborhoods, I once encountered it too, but the fault was solely mine... I had a neighborhood where I moved a bunch of sims from other neighborhoods (when I was a kid I didn't know about corruption). But once, for some unknown reason, I went to my game files (the ones in the documents folder) and thought "oh, this thumbnails folder is just a bunch of pictures! seems useless to me!" and deleted it. Well, the rest is history. When I opened my game again, I saw three premade hoods and mine was nowhere to be found. Silly me. I was so upset... couldn't even play again for a while. Aside from that, I've seen crazy family trees (shouldn't have deleted those graves, duh!), crashing lots, spamming error messages and broken wants. I've never seen t-posing sims tho, with all the stuff I did to my game back in the day.
Oh wow! In Sims 2 all that ever happened to me was some glitchy CC caused speech bubble text errors, and somehow led to the entire neighborhood's image missing in the main menu (meaning the name popped up but the thumbnail was a white and red grid, so I was too scared to click on it) It probably just affected the neighborhood in retrospect, but I reinstalled the game bc back then I thought corruption was just corruption. In Sims 3 however, I had that child-stretching-to-adult-height glitch once when I was 11 and I didn't play the game for two weeks lol

I had a Sim based off Agent 47 and one of the Premades often had a fear of being chased by him (like a pet). Oddly dark connotations. Then after a while playing the same neighbourhood, around 40% of my CAS characters disappeared, yet they still appeared in the game in the old apartments they lived in forever stuck in there peeing themselves, one house lost their household name entirely. I knew I had to create a new neighbourhood there. But a few weeks later on a new copy of the neighbourhood the same premade started getting fears to be chased by the same set of Sims... Including 47. My neighbourhood just can't get a break from corruption.
Nice video! I don't remember experiencing any corruption, as I was afraid to play with a family for too long, because I didn't want anyone to die. X) But I was forced to eventually uninstall Sims 2 from my computer, because the game files continued to grow in weight (even when I didn't do anything in my game but launch and close it) to the point I didn't have any free space left on my disk C. Now I understand that was probably because of the townies spawning, but back then it felt really creepy.

I have a corruption story: Once i adopted a puppy, everything was fine, i closed the game and a few hours later i came back and my puppy were forced to play toddler animations, it was terrifiying. I tried removing the creature from my household and it worked, i adopted a toddler and quitted the game again, this time my toddler were forced to play pet animations. After this, i never adopted a child or a pet again.

Personally, I recently went on my Sims 2 game after awhile. I also did a lot of horrendous things like deleting already played sims and I deleted gravestones. When looking at it, the game was severely corrupted. When I was in CAS, there was something wrong with the lighting. It was brighter than usual and I also saw a black box outside and around the windows. Sometimes things were the wrong color. Like the glasses. The lenses were supposed to be green, but it was transparent instead. However, the side facing the sim wasn't green. It was kind of funny to see. I'm pretty sure it was 100% corrupted.

I don't know if it was because of corruption but I once had a sim whose face got stuck in a grin. It was super freaky everything else he did worked as it should but his face did not move! He was even abducted by aliens and he still had that freaky grin though the whole cutscene!

Also, I just remembered that once I used the tombstone of L&D to generate a random baby. And one of the babies parents was a dog? The game had no other signs of corruption or anything so might have just been a glitch. I do have some sims 3 corruption horror tho

@@Grimonvacation ooo I have what I think is a sims corruption horror story. I'll title it "Stuck in the Future." I had my sims go into the future though a portal on his mom's lot. When I tried to leave, it showed nobody's avatar where the portrait was. There was no side portrait on the side of the screen. There was the usual side panels like inventory, bit nothing would happen when I clicked it. I could see my sims, their house, their cat, but I couldn't click or do anything while playing their household. My sims were trapped forever in the future or else they'd corrupt like that. When I switched to his mom's household everything seems fine but there were more glitches and bugs than usual. If I tried to interact with the corrupt sims in his mom's household after they went to the present, things like all of the side portraits lighting up would happen. Things like the side panels like inventory being unclikcable and the game would crash. I think because my sims traveled to the future through a portal on another lot, the sims code was copied in the present. There are 2 verisons of my sims code and if they try to go back into the present, it'll corrupt them. Btw if I try to go back to the present using mods like NRAAS TRAVELER NRAAS OVERWATCH the game completely crashes.
I think the funniest corruption story I had was when my sister tried to make newly weds have a child. She heard the pregnancy tone and everything (She had saved prior to try for baby knowing sometimes the game would crash/have issues). All seemed normal at first...until the husband got morning sickness. We thought maybe it was an error at first. That was until the male got his first pregnant bump like he would during an alien pregnancy. Neither of their genders appeared to have changed (Maybe they had and we didn't notice? I still don't know how this happened). My sister probably would've built it into the story had she not been working on a storyline. She did re-load the save and try this again multiple times, but in consequent attempts the wife did conceive instead. That was the one and only time I ever saw this happen. Somehow we managed to keep our hoods running for like 5+ years with moderate corruption symptoms (gender swaps, glitched wants, ect. It had not progressed to sim pets or anything like that).

Not sure if this a corruption horror story I think it was just a weird glitch but I had a problem with a nanny stealing babies in Veronaville. Happened a few times, but basically when the nanny was done with her day the carpool would come, she would pick up the baby and take it with her when she left, the baby would then be removed from the family (the picture on the left hand side would go) although it would show up back on the sidewalk when I saved and reloaded the game, kind of like when you delete a sim through testing cheats, so the babies weren't actually fully removed from the family.
and before anyone comments it was NOT the social worker it was 100% an evil (glitched/corrupted) nanny in Veronaville that stole babies. I even made a post on r/sims2 post about it because I was so concerned and never seen it before. Eventually she just stopped doing it though lmao
Apparently this was a really common issue back in the early Sims 2 days. Never happened to me tho but I heard about it a lot from others.
@@Wolf-Chalk Well in that case I guess I can confirm its not an old issue and very much still happens lol. Someone on reddit told me it was something to do with baby birthdays, if you miss the baby's birthday for too long or the sims get stuck trying to help with birthday weird stuff can happen like nannies and maids stealing the baby. Got to love the sims 2. :D
I also have a corruption story. This was a couple days ago, i adopted a toddler, i aged him up and saw his family tree...There was a cat in the place where his parents should be and he wasn't related with them at all. I closed the game without saving, adopted a new baby and this didn't happen again. It was really weird and now i'm scared about adopting sims lol

For 10 years now, I love to visit a Sims forums and read stories about various strange bugs. I guess I'm lucky. In all the 7 years that I have played the Sims almost every day, I have not encountered strange bugs in any part of the sims.
The only time that scared the shit out of me was long ago in The Sims 3. This was my first time downloading CC. It was a cat ears for children and when I chose a child in CAS, he turned into a huge, distorted monster. After that, I deleted all the CC and did not download anything for about six months.

Years ago I played the Sims 2. I had 2 teenagers fall in love. They went steady. I had to toggle between the house holds so they can age at the same time. Well just a day before the boy was to be an adult his face got seriously distorted. No matter what I did I could not fix it. Even when he became an adult his face was distorted. I ended up deleting that family all together. But his poor girlfriend still had memories of the relationship. When she grew up she met someone else and had a family with him.
Sometimes I would have Sims become invisible. It's funny to see random things floating around. Some of the glitches are funny and the others can be rather creepy.
As great as The Sims 2 is, it was built badly. Literally has hardly any failsafes or anything to prevent the game from corrupting over time. I’ve ran into some strange corruptions in my time.
One I do remember is where I had a power surge, and my laptop was plugged in on charge, while I was playing. I was playing the Dreamer family. Dirk had aged up, but when I went to go back, he was a teen, but the game identified him as an adult. The power surge messed up my game somehow.
The second to last one sounded like the beginning of a Creepypasta!
When I was a kid I never played a family long enough to notice any bad corruption, just the occasional freeze (but that could have just been the computer itself or that I almost never fully turned off the computer when I was done playing and left the game running in sleep mode). I am surprised that I never experieneced anything really bad with the way I ABUSED the cheats all the time. The alien baby family in strange town was corrupt before I started cheating so that I could never progress past a certain point with them. They were doomed to an eternal groundhog day from the beginning.
Recently while playing with mods my entire town disappeared right before my eyes and then deleted itself when I exited and reloaded lol was my first ever corruption in all my like what 20 years of this game??

I love hearing other simmer's experiences with corruption, so this video was a blast. The one with Mortimer creeped me out, though... out of all the stories I've read, that one was new.
I had a strange incident occur at least over a year ago now. In one of my older custom hoods (it's still alive and kicking), I had a sim tending to her garden, I believe she was growing tomatoes. Now, I will just say that she was in her home lot; residential not community. Why do I say that? Well in her action queue, the Unsavoury Charlatan's thumbnail appeared. Confused, I hovered over to one of the lot's entry portals to actually see the Charlatan stood their doing his weird poses. I panicked and made the poor woman run into the house, so I could lock all the doors. No one was allowed to leave the house until he left, which he did surprisingly leave on his own after 24 in game hours. He was just stood by one of the locked doors, posing... he isn't supposed to appear on residential lots, so I was worried.
Another Story I have, though this may not be corruption based, is my sim's house being overrun by gardeners... none of the six did their job... they just made a mess.
And I think I mentioned *NPCSkunkSkin walking into my sim's house uninvited due to child ghosts before. That one was scary, as a pie menu did come up when I clicked on him, but there were only three interactions available and they were all blank. I took him out of the lot with moveobjects and fortunately, my objects.package file was fine 😅
I cant really remember what happend, but I know when I was either 12 or 13 I recently discovered boolprop. I was testing out all the cheats, adding grim to the family tree, spawning a whole bunch of debug objects, and forcing errors on everything. the next time I tried to open up the game it was completely dead. wouldnt load past the title screen. I had to do a complete reinstall. I had 5 years of saves on it aswell as my sisters saves. I cried alot.
recently I've been trying to corrupt a backed up save on purpose. So far I've experienced random calls from bugs in a jar asking to come over over at 4 in the morning, and bowling balls appearing randomly on lots. sims 2 is wild.

I watched this video last night, then had a bad dream that my custom neighborhood got horribly corrupted. I backed up my neighborhood and ran the Hood Checker after waking up.
There was a time where I was playing the Sims 2 and I wanted to try the child ghost glitch it cause i thought it sounded so interesting. So I thought by spawning a child ghost on the lot will cause random NPC's to come visit your lot, but what I got was even MORE bizzare. I got normal looking sims (some of which were my neighbors) visting my house but guess what, they were all recognized as ADULT MALES. This included children and toddlers who were literally walking all tall and female sims with male voices. They all literally walked into my sims house without even ringing the doorbell and spent a few minutes walking around inside the house before finally leaving, some were even using their toilet! When I made those sims selectable just out of curiosity, I discovered that all their aspiration meters were red, they had no wants and fears, and all their relationships with other sims were gone. Ngl it was probably the most creepiest thing that has happened to me in my many years of playing The Sims 2.
Yeah, about that bringing friends home from work... I haven’t had freetime expansion pack when I first played the sims 2, but now I have the ultimate collection and I can tell you, Freetime has A LOT of glitches.
For example, I played the clean template of Pleasantview and Bella Goth got a chance card from which she would bring a friend home.
That friend was the grand vampire. She was coming back home at 3 p.m. Every day, after she came back home, she would bring that vampire home, and he would wait there, while literally smoking, until she greets her daughter, so he could say goodbye and run home to stay alive. Even worse, the game constantly keeps on bringing the same “friend from work” home, so Bella had 100/100 relationship with him, even though all they did was things I mentioned above.
I wrote that on the sims 2 Facebook group and someone recommended the mod which asks you about bringing friends from work home - that person had their sim bring back the ghost of Dora Ottomas home.
I keep hearing that the UC is super glitchy and broken, dang...
Same thing happened to me! It’s either Grand vampire or that one butler always being brought home from work, and that same butler coworker/friend even appears from two different careers - politics and military!

The first time I ever experienced corruption was when I first started playing the sims and my go to favorite neighborhood was veronaville. I loaded up the game one day and the neighborhood icon was of the terrain with a big grid all over it. No decor, no sky, no houses, just the bumpy grid. I had thought my brother messed with my game but over the years I realized it was definitely corruption. I could still click on the icon and it would try to load but would eventually crash and then my whole game would be not playable after trying to play it.
My biggest corruption was with my most long running game ever, it was over 5 years old. Faces, object textures, patterns, etc. would be plastered over the lots terrain and the only way to make it go away was to record a video. Memories kept repeating themselves (especially the graduated college one).
Those weren't terribly interesting, this video makes me wish I had gotten much more interesting corruption.
Aahh the corruption that messes with neighborhoods that people have been playing in for a long time always get me the most. It sucks cause most of the time there’s no way to save it...😭

I had been playing the sims 2 for years, in fact the pleasantview neighbourhood i'm playing now was started in 2010 XD and I had noooo idea about corruption until about a year ago when I suddenly missed playing the sims 2 and downloaded it, made sure it worked and then put the ol' 2010 neighbourhood into the files lol. I read about corruption on reddit for the first time as I had also very recently got into reddit. I'm like lol I have a 10 year old neighbourhood with no corruption, suck on that! But then I started thinking about it and the first thing I had realised was that my kids and even some toddlers in my very populated neighbourhood had life time wants. I didn't think that was correct? So thus began my search of whether or not they were supposed to or not (turns out not) and that my game probably WAS corrupted. I then remembered an incident a while back when one of my teens disappeared and the dad had the memories of $Subject. So what had I done? The biggest thing was deleting graves because (it's so stupid) I had changed my game to Spanish from English as I was learning Spanish. The preset characters names changed (for example Mortimer Goth becomes Homero Lápida haha) which was fine BUT I had some more sims in this neighbourhood who were all named after a soap opera I watch, including graves for the ones that had died lol. Half of thier names changed to random Spanish names and this is before I knew how to change names with the simblender SO I just deleted the tombstones (OOPS) for the ones that had changed to spanish and created a new sim with the last name I wanted for all these sims and made them marry them all so their name changed to the correct last name lol then changed their first name with the tombstone (this took ages!) and then when that was done I killed him and deleted his tombstone too. According to sim pe i also saw in the past I must have created and deleted a family or two at some point from the family bin. I think in the past I reinstalled the game which merged the new files with my old files which you're not meant to do. And lastly, in my lastest reinstall the tombstones I had deleted were back! So... I deleted them again! So there is possibly two sets of data from each floating around (like i said, I knew nothing of corruption at this point!) . So thanks to a sims2 subreddit on reddit, I found out about the anti-corruption mods which I installed, aswell as the batbox which I have used to delete all gossip and corrupted memories, aswell as a mod that deletes all gossip everytime you load a lot. And of course the hoodchecker which I use regularly and I think is perhaps saving my neighbourhood lol. So I haven't had any more sims disappear or lots disappear since then but as I said the kids / toddlers made when it was more corrupted have LTWs (which i'm still trying to fix with Sim PE). Another thing (which is obviously caused by the deleted gravestones) is that some sims keep getting wierd wants. A guy had wants and fears of a girl, who was not in his relationships, that he wanted to call over and what not, so was impossible to fufill. But the funniest one was a kid that had a dog called leroy (not in his relationship panel) that he kept getting all his wants and fears about BUT it was human interactions, like invite over, talk on the phone, entertain etc. My goal was to keep rolling his wants enough so they would go away but they kept coming back eventually :'( Also some toddlers of mine keep wanting to buy a car. Some sims like Daniel Pleasant that I had never even opened the lot had no wants or fears so I had to fix that. And some uni students from the student bin had wants for their room mate that were supposed to be for pets, like "Teach Ty a command" or something! Not as interesting as some of the others but I keep going (with the help of hood checker) as i'm too attached to this neighbourhood now!
Another weird thing that happened (which I want to know if it has happened to anyone else?) is that I swear I have a family who just... appeared? The last name is "Placeholder" and there is a dad with brown hair, a mom with red hair in a long ponytail, two twin boys, and a girl. I played with them and grew them up etc but I swear I didn't make them! But maybe I did and I just forgot... but the last name is so weird! I can't even tell you their names as they changed to Spanish ones too as above.
Please read this in your next corruption horror stories video. So I was playing in my favorite neighborhood, Belladonna Cove, and I resurrected Geoff Rutherford’s ancestors (big no-no). Recently, my CAS Sims have switched jobs without my input. I’ve run HoodChecker and found a fair amount of corruption. I am now backing up the neighborhood and preparing to fix it. I hope it’s not past the point of rescue, as I love my Sims there.

So I was playing with the Ottomas family...the unborn twins’ father turned out to be David (Samantha’s oldest kid). Ever since that happened, I had the craziest idea of having David be the father of 400+ kids (from various different families). Unfortunately, when I made it to (I think) 408 kids (for David) I decided to save & exit the game for the night. Months pass & I play the Ottomas family again, look at the family tree & all of David’s kids (also his relationships with his lovers, etc) ended up getting corrupted & only the Ottomas family (Dora, Peter, Samantha, the two unborn twins, David, Tommy & Sharla) survived (like I barely played them). I was very sad because all of my progress with David was gone & I wondered if the kids David had got erased from existence or were they still in the game but they aren’t related to anyone in the Ottomas family anymore (I sadly never found out). To this day, I’m still sad my progress is gone but it’s one crazy thing to remember every time I play with the Ottomas family. I may try & do this again with David Ottomas but I don’t think I want to go through possibly losing my progress again. Next time, I’ll simmer down on giving David too many lovers & kids 🤣

My incredible game always do what is the worst for me. I always try to avoid corruption at any cost but I just can't xD Once my sim just tried to become witch so of course she needed to become friends with one. Obviously witch was struck by lighting and my sims face just disappeared :)

This reminds me of how a few months back, I had Sims 2, and I have windows 10, but unlike most people, I didn't have to go through a bunch of things in specific to download the game. At the time, when I was first starting out, I remember I knew nothing about Strangetown, I also had no idea Strangetown was super corrupted. I used Strangetown a couple times, well, while nothing weird or out of the ordinary happened to me, nor did I really even know what I did that caused the issue, my assumption is there was possibly some form of game corruption, considering I reinstalled the game, and it still did this. Basically, I played a lot, and I had this family...(family is long lost now due to this situation) there was one day after I saved, I went to play the next day, and my game wouldn't load when I entered the neighborhood, it would get stuck on "Making magic" I did try looking up solutions, and I found nothing. Well, I decide "Ok, maybe if I reinstall it" so...I reinstalled the game (only from the documents folder because I forget there's 2 different versions). Well, it worked at first, but upon saving my family, the game did the same thing again. I eventually uninstalled it entirely since I deleted origin until a couple months later, and now the game is fine, I'm not exactly sure if that was corruption, but I know it was something. Had to of been something I'd done that broke my entire game, although I don't remember doing very much cheats at the time, although, knowing me, and not knowing about the corruption at the time, I could have unknowingly corrupted my game, which is why my neighborhood didn't load. I even tried the other neighborhoods thinking it might have been just that one, but they all broke...so it's best to assume I must've corrupted my game somehow

I moved a roomate into my family via simblender and I corrupted my whole neighborhood. I loved that one . I extracted all the sims and made a new one. It was so much work.

one time my sims had a baby, but the house were they living was small for 3 sims, so i moved out my sims, i played a little bit and leave the game, when i went to use this family, the babie turn to a stranger sim and a never played with them again, sometime ago i find out that the sim was a dead sim from Tricou"s family, his name is Jon Smith Tricou 💀💀
I played a neighborhood for months (4 generations) and everything was fine until I loaded one of my backups and every lot was missplaced. I dont know how but I was calm and I tried to move the lots back. But then i quickly realized that I cant fix it bc there were families even in vacation destinations. It happened a few years ago and I didnt even knew anything about corruption.
I think it happened bc I was messing with apartments and I moved families between different neighborhoods. 😅

Idk if this counts, but I got the sims 3 for xbox 360 and one of my sims was in a public lot and this shrub kept catching fire. No matter how many times it was put out, the shrub would be ok for maybe a few seconds and then catch fire again. My sim was trapped in the lot and the only thing I could do was exit without saving.
I haven't really had that many weird things happen when I play the sims.
i've had 2 baby accidently get deleted when i was play their portrait looked weird i think it was them in the air and could only see their legs in the portrait and when i tried to age them up the game throw errors at me over and over again and i can't remember when but there was some crashes i just forgot where when i went back to the lot they where gone and the memories about them were now about simoleon subject

That happend long time ago when I was like 8 or 9 (now im 14) I was just playing the sims and everything was just fine untill random townie came to my house, he literally was living his best live in my house and doing random things. When he left, every sim from my family glitched and froze in t-pose. Then every texture in my game started being glitched, like everything was purple and black. After that i was scared of this game and didn't play till next month.

Brandi Broke gave birth in my game and upon reloading the baby completely vanished, not even in the family tree or SimPE. However Brandi did have a blank memory of ‘§Subject’ being born and I could summon them using the teleporter shrub but they behaved as if they were an adult male despite being a baby female, almost like a reverse Knut Futa situation.
The ultimate twist to this is this was playing on MeetMeTo’s clean Pleasantview template and just to check it wasn’t me who corrupted it, I reinstalled the hood and got rid of my downloads folder and when Brandi gave birth her baby disappeared upon reloading AGAIN, and this was without me playing any other lots or doing anything else! The rest of the hood seems to be working fine though so I just kept playing and took out Brandi’s blank memory and replaced it with a custom memory of her having a miscarriage and haven’t had any problems since.
The instances that traumatized me in the sims were in sims 3 and not sims 2. Sims 2 crackhead energy was what traumatized me tbh lmao.
When it comes to glitches and corruption ....well, there was this time I was playing the sims 3, at the time I think I only had sims 3 base, 2010-11, and I don't know what happened but I clicked on the toddler and his neck just stretched like really thin and worst was that it was looking at me. I swear I was about to call a priest LOOOL. Scared the shit out of me. I immediately closed the game and didn't play for like a day or two.
I play in ST and once Vidcund turn on teenager and get pregnant from nothing. No one mods not saw that. I tried grow he up and all of his clothes disappeared. It's was weird.
I sort of have a corruption story: I once was playing a custom hood i made and a sim in a custom university i also made, and whenever i would click on my sim to make him go to class, he would reset over and over again. i was able to tell he was resetting because the sims thumbnail would keep changing and i didn't have testingcheatsenabled on either so the error pop ips weren't showing unless i turned it on. he couldn't even interact with anything, he would just freeze. I then went on to my downloads folder and deleted my most recent mod (which at the time was Visitor Controller) and that fixed the problem. It made me learn to not install multiple mods at once. there's gonna be a problem. but thankfully i had a backup of that neighborhood and use that instead and now everything is good😄

Considering disappearing neighborhoods, I once encountered it too, but the fault was solely mine... I had a neighborhood where I moved a bunch of sims from other neighborhoods (when I was a kid I didn't know about corruption). But once, for some unknown reason, I went to my game files (the ones in the documents folder) and thought "oh, this thumbnails folder is just a bunch of pictures! seems useless to me!" and deleted it. Well, the rest is history. When I opened my game again, I saw three premade hoods and mine was nowhere to be found. Silly me. I was so upset... couldn't even play again for a while.
Aside from that, I've seen crazy family trees (shouldn't have deleted those graves, duh!), crashing lots, spamming error messages and broken wants. I've never seen t-posing sims tho, with all the stuff I did to my game back in the day.
Oh wow! In Sims 2 all that ever happened to me was some glitchy CC caused speech bubble text errors, and somehow led to the entire neighborhood's image missing in the main menu (meaning the name popped up but the thumbnail was a white and red grid, so I was too scared to click on it) It probably just affected the neighborhood in retrospect, but I reinstalled the game bc back then I thought corruption was just corruption.
In Sims 3 however, I had that child-stretching-to-adult-height glitch once when I was 11 and I didn't play the game for two weeks lol

I had a Sim based off Agent 47 and one of the Premades often had a fear of being chased by him (like a pet). Oddly dark connotations. Then after a while playing the same neighbourhood, around 40% of my CAS characters disappeared, yet they still appeared in the game in the old apartments they lived in forever stuck in there peeing themselves, one house lost their household name entirely.
I knew I had to create a new neighbourhood there. But a few weeks later on a new copy of the neighbourhood the same premade started getting fears to be chased by the same set of Sims... Including 47. My neighbourhood just can't get a break from corruption.

I don't remember experiencing any corruption, as I was afraid to play with a family for too long, because I didn't want anyone to die. X)
But I was forced to eventually uninstall Sims 2 from my computer, because the game files continued to grow in weight (even when I didn't do anything in my game but launch and close it) to the point I didn't have any free space left on my disk C. Now I understand that was probably because of the townies spawning, but back then it felt really creepy.
That second to last one is a bit... hard to believe.
