I’ve been practicing medicine for almost 30 years, and I still can’t believe that people ask me if shots will hurt. I tell them “yes, it’s a sharp needle!”

@@LauRa-re9un I think if you asked any of my patients, they would tell you I have a ton of empathy. Seriously. I was just being silly because this is a comment section about a silly show. I do say what I said, but then I assure them it won’t hurt for long. I spend hours each day with my patients trying to figure out what’s troubling them and how to help them. My patients literally love me, and they tell me so. I love them too. I work for their benefit long hours after I leave the clinic. So please don’t go making assumptions about people you don’t even know. If you’re angry at physicians, I understand, but take it elsewhere.

Rabies is 100% fatal once you begin showing symptoms. Nobody has ever survived it by that stage.

That's not exactly true. There have been approximately 15-20 cases of people surviving advanced stage rabies, but it is over 99 percent fatal, yes.

Yeah a ton of factors played in those roles hence why they survived. I’m doubtful they remained normal afterwards and of they acquire it again it’ll for sure kill them.

most flu shots are given that way, tho in this scene it looked like the needle was higher guage, you cant do that without causing injury, but ive seen many nurses and doctors give shot with smaller guage needles the way u see in the show.

Pretty sure her character didn’t have rabies anyway. She was freaking herself out and causing her own headaches/irritability. Anxiety can also cause trouble swallowing. That dog would have died before she started showing symptoms if she really got rabies from it.

It's even worse when your elderly parent with severe health issues is being treated by a passel of *allegedly* qualified doctors in a major metropolitan area, yet few if any of them can barely speak an intelligible sentence in English at critical moments. Oh well, Dad hasn't had to be concerned about that or any other earthly matters for over a decade now...

A few weeks ago, I was with my Dad. I told him how at a recent doctor's appointment, the PA (who was useless) said that the doctor who performed my hysterectomy last summer won't have to go back in and operate. Wasn't her place to speak on behalf of the doctor. My Dad told me it's not good for me to have multiple surgeries. It took everything I had in me not to scream at him "I know it's not a good idea for me to have multiple surgeries! I don't need you to tell me that, you stupid hipster doofus!".
