Amish are such gifted peoples that pass down their crafts and skills from generation to generation , livingly lightly on the Earth . Many of us have lost our way and would do well to model ourselves on these goodly kind folk , they possess deep honourable values , I admire them so. Thank you kind sirs for your service and shared information to other communities

I see an awful lot of people complaining about the price, I wonder if they have even given it a thought on how much building materials costs these days. PLUS the fact that the entire building has a protective finish makes the cost even higher. Then labor costs has to be factored in along with the costs of electricity it takes to run the various tools greatly increases the production cost even more so. I am not a builder nor am I affiliated with this company in any way, I am just aware of the materials costs and what it would cost someone to have it built if being built by Professional Carpenters or by the person interested in having one like this. Face it People, there is nothing cheap in today economy anymore, the longer you wait the higher things will cost.

Don Wilson, the Amish DO use regular lumber. I lived among them for years in Lancaster Co PA. When building a house, barn, etc. They have a lot of their own lumber that they produce BUT there aren't enough local woods around to produce what they actually need. Every barn raising or house building I've ever seen the Home Depot truck backs up and unloads tons of lumber. So they don't just use hand hewn beams. They may still use some old fashioned joinery in their building, but they ate just as likely to use regular lumber from Home Depot, and air nailers to build things.

One could just have a wood cook stove and that would be fine for heat as well. Have a fire pit and cook outside in the summer.

    • @moondawg3693
      @moondawg3693 5 лет назад

They certainly are not "Very Beautiful People", they are just people.
What makes their gifts better than anyone else's ?
Women in amish communities are worked to exhaustion with higher than normal rates of depression.
Cruelty bullying and gossip run rampant, leading many to consider (and likely committing) suicide. Outsiders don't get this information from the closed society.
Amish life is based on not changing, much more than religion, bibles are generally not allowed. They are taught rules over everything else, while religion's taught in 16th century German and the regular amish don't understand any of it.
There's an epidemic of sexual and physical abuse. Brothers raping sisters is common, fathers on daughters and nobody to tell.
The abusers go free, while those who tell are punished, for bringing shame to the family.
Look at the Drug Cartels within the amish who have special Mexican - Canadian birth certificates, who smuggle millions of dollars in drugs from Mexico to the US to Canada.
Much of this sounds a lot like another religious ideology called islam, doesn't it.
Read "10 Reasons We Need to Stop Romanticizing the Amish", there are good books pointed out there for information on this cult.
Many like yourself read these amish romance novels and believe them, so you come here and tell everyone how amazing they are.
      They're not !

I think they’re some of the smartest people! Love the photos with scriptures! Wonderful house & electrons can still come up from the ground & up through the feet if one has leather shoes on or bare feet in the cabin! It’s great for the immune system! Seems one is always grounded in these homes! Never losing contact with the Earth! Love it! Also love that they still use the horses & buggies! How would you like to spend all that time and energy on something only to have someone devalue it like it was nothing? Only thing I'd do differently is I'd add a loft above the kitchen. You'd still have a vaulted ceiling above the living room so it wouldn't seem as 'crowded'. Nice job.

  • @friedmanbrock

I looked at the website and the product seems very nicely made. I watched the video and was shocked. While the music is very beautiful it comes across as horribly depressing for this purpose. Instead of showing something many people might love, instead the music sets up a sad mood to investigate a lonely building off by itself on the side of the road, like it has been forgotten or cast aside in some day of yore. Add to that terrible camera work that varies between being causing motion sickness or laughter at whackadoodle quick zoom in's and zoom outs. Half way through I felt like bursting into tears. It came across as looking like that movie genre called lost film footage where you find a video after something terrible happened and see the story that was left behind. My point is, if you have this beautiful product, show it off beautifully. Get a professional camera man, do some editing, place the cabin anywhere but next to a busy road. Show one being built, show one set in a beautiful woodsy location, show one surrounded by flowers with children running around. Show it as you want it to be experienced. Do not show it off like a used car in some 4th rate dealership. And please change the music!

I love it. Only drawback is having a loft for a bedroom. Imagine having to climb down those ladders in the middle of the night to go potty. No thanks. Great for young people but for a senior, it's a deal breaker. But I do love the style and the wood and the porch. Now add a bedroom and it would be fantastic. I've always loved the rustic style and log cabin look. And love love the wood look.

There isn't really anything truly old style Amish about this cabin, A truly Amish cabin would be totally hand hewn and assembled by the community. You have to read into the words "Amish Style" as it does not mean Amish built. I could own an Amish Style auto dealership. Maybe I do!!!!! Amish style? ........I'm all about that bass, bout that base, no trouble!

Again... another nice house built by the Amish people. As far as I have heard they are one of the greatest craftsmen on the planet, when it comes to building with wood. Lets see if they will also build by custom made plans.

This makes for a great guest house in the back.
Im building my own, very similar to this, though the loft is taller (7' on center) and a 6' dormer.
Not sure the dimensions of this one but seems close to mine. I wont have a bedroom on the first deck but stairs leading to the loft to sleep in. (It's 16x32)
It will have a simple kitchen like this one and a bath simular to this. With a nice cozy living area that will have a pull out bed for extra sleeping if needed.
It is costing me about a 3rd of what this will be (materials). So considering labor, their price for a solid built place isn't too far off.
Though i still think they can sell it for under 40k and make a good profit.

@ Martillo Duro, It's not hypocrisy. They have phones for community access in case of emergency. They don't want take phones to take the place of going and seeing your neighbor--actual human contact. That is Love. And btw, they never said they went without. Nothing hypocritical about that.

Brilliant house or Cabin.. That cabin deserves a LOPI WOOD STOVE... just the best quality!!!...Personally, I would have a slightly "higher roof".. for the upstairs... Area... Maybe small half meter all round walls upstairs to give a total head room of 8feet..seems like it would be much more usable space. And tempted to have a small.. Staircase going up to next level.... Something unique Amish design... But just awesome as it is.... Cheers,

those who happen to watch this video, would you please pray that we can finally get out of this 35 year old double wide home that is falling apart, getting mold under it, roof leaks, floors falling in...I love my location & we are fixing to be in our 60's & it's time to finally have a house or a huge renovation with help funding it... Thanks..
