Hi Harry, I’ve been on-line looking everywhere for this Company and these Cabins and can’t find anything. I believe you said it was called Hillcrest Log Cabins unless I misunderstood. If possible could you give me any information you have that could possibly help me get in touch with them or see their models and pricing. Thank you for the videos that you put out they are extremely interesting and informative. Appreciate everything you are doing for us newbies. 😊
Check out Meadowlark Log Cabins. We did a LOT of research before going with Meadowlark. We’re having them build our “Trout Creek” log house on our property in Montana as our late spring through early fall. We also have a condo on one of the Virgin Islands for our winter home. Our island house is rented through Airbnb because we’re there only about two- three weeks a year until my wife retires. We’ll then rent it out in the time that we’re in Montana. Meadowlark has many options for their buyers. You can just buy the shell or have them build you a “turnkey”. Were having them build the shell, do the electrical and plumbing. Well let the house settle for 2 years and then go back and put in our windows and doors. After that we’ll have a friend build the cabinets and install the shower and a separate tub along with the toilets, wood stove etc. Buy the time the log house is completed, my wife will be retired and we’ll sell our current house in north central Washington state that is located in a very mountainous area and only 5 miles from town and 25 miles from the city.
Love the second one. I would delete that back door and put a nice sized wood cook stove there with a rocking chair beside it. I'd also put a nice big round table smack in the middle of the floor. The loft would be my living room. Because let's face it, when we have visitors we always congregate in the kitchen and end up sitting around the table.
These seem to be well designed and built. I would move the side door to the back, and have a porch on the back too, facing a mountain slope to use as a back drop for a safe shooting range. I would have a cast iron stove using propane for heat that can be converted to wood if necessary. I would not have dormers and would have 2 lofts with small windows on the peakes of the dormers with indoor wooden shutters like the doors on the kitchen cabinets. I would use the downstairs bathroom and bedroom. I would leave the 2 lofts open for storage, and for future use as bedrooms by the new owners I would evenrually sell the cabin to. No basement and a large below ground propane tank. I would also need a utility room on the first floor for a washing machine, dryer and water heater. I would bring my own furniture; especially my Antique Black Walnut round dining table.
Hey there Eric for religious reasons the Amish do not have a website for these log homes. You can contact them over the phone or visit them in person to discuss cabins pricing etc.
