Having neighbors and children of all ages does NOT mean they will be unfriendly or disrespectful or neighbors from hell. I lived for a time in a gated community where one needed to be 55 +. The most only children one saw where those who came to visit grandparents etc. Frankly I found it unnatural. Hearing children at play hearing or seeing them be children can bring so much joy and happiness into our lives. Having neighbors one is a part of a special family and an experience that can be enjoyed by many. As one reaches a certain age one can become close minded or open up to the universe and embrace where you are led to be without fear and anxiety. …then as you say there is “just you and your house surrounded by nature”. This is exactly what I want, I wish we had some of these in Alabama close to me. I am a single grandmama in my fifties and it’s me and my Golden doodle and that would be perfect for us, getting older less is more and this is just amazing and well designed. Beautiful..
They have small communities (older) in the mountains where its quite affordable however the catch is their associations will let you "occupy the space" for 3 seasons and not all year as they must have some tax provisions for zoning for it being a Tourist/Vacation attraction.

I’ve been an admirer of this particular tiny house plan on southern living for YEARS. And when you started walking through the house I had a feeling this house was built with those plans. It was so satisfying to see it come to life, although my taste in decor differs it’s still a beautiful home, they did a great job!
I love! I want! I need!. I am a disabled woman nearing 65 years old. I lost my son 02/03/21 during heart surgery. He was 39. 12/06/23 I lost my husband while I was driving him to his dialysis treatment. He needed a heart and kidney transplant. It took me 7 minutes to get to the hospital, and although they resuscitated him, he passed forever on Dec 8. Im alone here in Florida and have always wanted to move to Tennessee. I need to find a small piece of land and build my own tiny home. Thanks for the inspiration ❤

This is an absolute favourite of mine now, so many perfect touches to name!! I can't believe how spacious it is within 500 sq ft, especially to accommodate the king size bed with space to walk around it & still room for a bedroom closet! And beautifully retro tiled shower in the nice sized en suite. That large covered front porch with those great brick steps & the small retro kitchen appliances are amazing!! Okay, I'll stop now. Be real. Most people of working age need to be near urban centers for work. Home ownership is out of reach until you are retired and can afford to live out in the country.

Ive worked for design-build. They've talked about the market, the move from single family to multifamily, but over the last 10 years more and more generations have been setting out to buy land to build tiny homes, log cabins, cottages, etc. I've seen homes built of shipment containers. Producing own food. Some just simplify life. I've tried to get there with health struggles and am just glad to see others make it happen. I do believe owners and design-build companies can get into this "niche" both on and off the grid. There are designs like this and others I've seen with closer community. It's so great to see! Whether it's people doing it for themselves or corporations catching on, I think it's worth it.
I used to live in a tiny home in Henderson, NV and it was 3 bedrooms 1 bath only 700 sq ft. I absolutely loved living there it was easy to clean and manage, but I had to move due to job relocation issues. but would love to live in a tiny home again.
that sounds perfect. this one is nice, but I doubt I could live there. I have to do things - sew, make things, read a lot, draw, etc, and definitely not enough room for all I would use. I would also like gardening stuff. I understand this is a rental, so it is perfect for that use.
Very cute! A way to fit more storage would be to replace the nightstands with floating shelves and use a bed frame that has under bed drawers. We have those in our bedroom and they hold lots! And so much better than cheap plastic roll bins.
I live way out like this. But I have an 1800's 2 story brick 3,500 square feet. 5 bedrooms & 4 full baths. 2 master suites. Multiple buildings & cross fencing. Swimming pool, sauna, sunroom, balconies. Livestock. A creek. I need to build something like this on my north 40 acres lol....this place is too much at times. Give this to the kids 😉 This looks so cute & simple ❤

I am a 62 yr old southern lady and wish i had the ability to build an entire community of these homes for seniors on a fixed income. its a shame our country doesn't value seniors in what is supposed to be their golden years. One thg tho tiny builds are sooo expensive most seniors can't afford to do it. Wish i had access to all the demo'd wood and items from all these makeover tv shows i would see to it that it was used to care for more seniors sich as myself. Some constructive criticism, here, from a construction guy - just trying to help: the vertical members at the porch are columns (not beams). Beams run horizontally...Great looking home!

I LOVE all of the black fixtures and I love that it feels homey but not overwhelming. It's my dream to have a lost home with a business on the bottom half and I think this is really the style I want to go for.
I'm retired and alone now. This would be perfect for me. I've always lived in the city, in a loft. I prefer to be near trees and mountains. Tennessee is one of my top five places to move to.
@@InnocentPotato-pd7wi I'm on the Cumberland Plateau (2000 ft elevation) not far from the location of this house. The tornadoes tend to skitter north and run out of steam when they hit the elevation here. I've lived all over the States and I think Tennessee has some of the best weather possible; very mild winters but still four seasons, spring and fall are glorious, and not too awful hot here on the Plateau. TN can be very inexpensive living costs (utilities, etc) if you work it right and don't need fancy. I'm in Fairfield Glade (resort town) and there are still very inexpensive building lots available for sale, hundreds of them. Lots of amenities already in place including several golf courses, walking trails, indoor and outdoor pools, etc. It's based on a 'pay as you go' system where you only pay to use the amenities you're interested in; we're affiliated with a Wyndham resort which helps keep the HOA down very low, and my property taxes as a senior on SS are only $100 A YEAR.
It's impressive to see such a small home arranged so efficiently and comfortably. Every detail is maximized, creating a cozy and inviting feel. It truly shows that even a small space can offer a full and stylish living experience!
Very nice but There were other features that I would like to have seen. What was behind the barn doors in the kitchen? A pantry I’m guessing but still would like to see the layout. And what about under the counters at the seating area?
He showed the pantry with coffee station and toaster (maybe microwave too) behind the barn door on the left side, and washer/dryer around the, what seems to be a stationary right door panel.
I would drop that ceiling 12” and use the attic as finished space for a 2nd bedroom or office with a couple dormer windows. Maybe a spiral stairway going up?
I love this little house! Looks so cozy. Those details like the little windows above the door and the long windows make it look more like an old house. Beautiful! that sounds perfect. this one is nice, but I doubt I could live there. I have to do things - sew, make things, read a lot, draw, etc, and definitely not enough room for all I would use. I would also like gardening stuff. I understand this is a rental, so it is perfect for that use.

Very cute! A way to fit more storage would be to replace the nightstands with floating shelves and use a bed frame that has under bed drawers. We have those in our bedroom and they hold lots! And so much better than cheap plastic roll bins.

I live way out like this. But I have an 1800's 2 story brick 3,500 square feet. 5 bedrooms & 4 full baths. 2 master suites. Multiple buildings & cross fencing. Swimming pool, sauna, sunroom, balconies. Livestock. A creek.
I need to build something like this on my north 40 acres lol....this place is too much at times. Give this to the kids 😉

Lovely little house, very nicely designed for comfort, safety and attractiveness, wonderful country property. Even in the city, this would be a charming home for a senior or single person, all on one level for ease of maintenance. I’d buy it!

Such a beautiful home & setting. I wish we could find a couple of acres to build a not-so-tiny farmhouse, barn, and garage. They're building town homes, apartments, and homes on every inch if land in Greenville, SC. It's ridiculous. I need to book a stay for me & my hubby. I'm afraid I won't want to leave. 😊
I adore it. Really , I do. But if it came down to living there for real, where would I store everything? And I mean basics, food, clothes, etc.

I am a 62 yr old southern lady and wish i had the ability to build an entire community of these homes for seniors on a fixed income. its a shame our country doesn't value seniors in what is supposed to be their golden years. One thg tho tiny builds are sooo expensive most seniors can't afford to do it. Wish i had access to all the demo'd wood and items from all these makeover tv shows i would see to it that it was used to care for more seniors sich as myself. Rant done...lol

Some constructive criticism, here, from a construction guy - just trying to help: the vertical members at the porch are columns (not beams). Beams run horizontally...Great looking home!

I LOVE all of the black fixtures and I love that it feels homey but not overwhelming. It's my dream to have a lost home with a business on the bottom half and I think this is really the style I want to go for.
I'm retired and alone now. This would be perfect for me. I've always lived in the city, in a loft. I prefer to be near trees and mountains. Tennessee is one of my top five places to move to.

If the weather wasn't so bad in Tennessee! Too many Southern states are having many tornadoes in this day and age!
@@InnocentPotato-pd7wi I'm on the Cumberland Plateau (2000 ft elevation) not far from the location of this house. The tornadoes tend to skitter north and run out of steam when they hit the elevation here. I've lived all over the States and I think Tennessee has some of the best weather possible; very mild winters but still four seasons, spring and fall are glorious, and not too awful hot here on the Plateau. TN can be very inexpensive living costs (utilities, etc) if you work it right and don't need fancy. I'm in Fairfield Glade (resort town) and there are still very inexpensive building lots available for sale, hundreds of them. Lots of amenities already in place including several golf courses, walking trails, indoor and outdoor pools, etc. It's based on a 'pay as you go' system where you only pay to use the amenities you're interested in; we're affiliated with a Wyndham resort which helps keep the HOA down very low, and my property taxes as a senior on SS are only $100 A YEAR.

Very nice but There were other features that I would like to have seen. What was behind the barn doors in the kitchen? A pantry I’m guessing but still would like to see the layout. And what about under the counters at the seating area?
He showed the pantry with coffee station and toaster (maybe microwave too) behind the barn door on the left side, and washer/dryer around the, what seems to be a stationary right door panel.
At 2:17 you can see under the counter/seating.

Very quaint. Would like a few modifications like railing on the porch. Upper cabinets in kitchen. It's the perfect size for me tho as a single person.

Gatlinburg has a lot of places to stay! They all seem to be rustic cabin styles which isn't what I typically like so I haven't visited much.

Yup. My house has actual wood ship lap, knots and all. I love it!!

I get what you’re saying about this not being actual shiplap, but this stuff is commonly sold as nickel gap shiplap.
Add a big library, tool shop,and forge, and little piggies 🐷, and chickens 🐔 out back
And a garage with a 25' walkway into the house for storage.

My husband and i just built a 2300 sq ft home in Maine, and it is lovely. But ya know what? I would be just as happy, or happier, with this beauty. Absolutely perfect!
I love ❤️ this house 🏡. 🔥 This gives me hope to build. The only thing I would do is add a second smaller bedroom, small full bath and a separate tiny space for stackable washer/dryer. (I don’t want anyone visiting me to walk through my bedroom to use my bathroom).
