Krisity i can't believe you making a mess. Making Tim ride a tractor to clean it up!!- lol... thank you fur my Sunday get me started day! I just got a rake an it's very handy. It's a great clean up tool and bring rock back into drive tool.
Yep I use my landscape rake for cleaning up the driveway and raking up small branches pulling gravel out of the grass and dragging the horses pasture yes a very versatile implement and very reasonably priced
I just watched a video where the landscape rake was mounted on the front loader in place of the bucket. It looked more effective and easier to control that way. As a bonus no sore neck!
Enjoyed seeing the landscape rake at work. It is more versatile, and it sounds like we might see some other uses for it along with using on the loader. Thanks, and blessings to you both!
A simple trick for debris cleanup like that I learned at the local scrap yard. they clean the parking lot with a grapple and an old roll of chainlink fence. i tried it myself at the farm after mowing out some brush along a new field. It works great just grab the roll of fence and push like plowing snow
The manuals for most landscape rakes caution to never push backwards against the tines. If you want to rake going in reverse you need to rotate the rake 180 degrees.
Great video, the rake is a great idea for clean-up. The cost of everything is not letting us get what I think we need or want so we do the best we can with what we have, even if it is by hand.
My buddy's son works for a tree trimming service. He built an attachment for their stand-on skidsteer that resembles a giant push broom head with steel bristles. He said the boss initially thought it was a waste of time but now they never go to a job without it.
You folks need a brush clipper holstered on your tractors. Christy got the rougher job. She also can cut up everything you raked up with the rough cut mower. Christy caught your error in not checking tire pressures first. Christy is not only your video department, but your quality control. She is a sweet, sharp cookie. Pretty don't hurt either.
Thanks Tim and Christy for demonstrating the landscape rake. I just got a 72” Behlen with the wheel set. In my opinion your tires are too large for combination forward and backwards operation. The spring setup is interesting though. You both seem to enjoy working together which is a joy to see. God bless you both.
First time I’ve seen a landscape rake used in this function. I’ve seen a lot of contractors using it to rough landscape new houses. That’s an easy way to make a burn pile for later in the spring after the rains come. It would make quick work of the cut debris…
Have you thought about doing an agricultural burn in the woods edge to get rid of the leftover weeds and brush? I've done it here In Kentucky and it works great! LUV YA'S FROM KENTUCKY!!!
I don’t care for that particular York rake. Not if that’s the configuration it’s got to be in. But, you do as nice a job as you could with it. And, it was a beautiful day!!
I agree with some previous comments, build a 3pt adapter for the loader. I made an adapter for my loader just for my landscape rake. I prefer to use it with the loader over the 3pt.
Mine from Frontier was not designed to go both directions. The gage wheels are not set back far enough from the rake. It does not have the springs just spacers for height adjustment. One of the problems I have with my 2025R is lift height. I have problems getting the 6-foot rake around the uneven yard. I have thought about getting the Artillian 3-point JDQA for the loader so I can have the rake in front.
I just bought the Frontier LR5060 landscape rake. I’m itching to use it, and this video certainly didn’t help!! Everything was nearly dry here and then rain for almost 24hrs foiled any hopes of getting to use it today. I did a little shopping for a wheel kit for mine, and all used spacers as opposed to the springs. It’s an interesting concept. Like you said, it seems like a lot of pressure back there. I wonder what the advantages/disadvantages are as compared to one another?
It looks like those wheels really transform that attachment for use on grass!! I think using it the way you first had it will work much better once you tighten up those nuts above the arms. I read many comments on here about "not understanding the point of the springs", but I think they are there as a replacement to the normal spacers. TTWT showed having the casters set in the highest setting (actually a little too high probably, why the wheel was able to turn and end up hitting the rake). To set it lower, you don't have to take anything apart and "adjust" spacers, just tighten the top nut to compress the spring, lowering the rake. I don't think the springs are meant to be compressed by any other means, if they are being compressed and bending the arms they are attached to, you probably need to adjust the height of the the 3pt or the length of the the top link. I would love to see a follow up video, maybe even a "short", showing how well (or not well) the caster portion of the wheels turn when you tighten the top nut up just some and then quite a bit (to lower the height). To see if it is a good option compared to the standard washer "spacers", or if the casters become too difficult to spin around. It would be nice if the wheels and/or their arms could be turned around, as in installed forward of the rake (like you had done later in the video) but be able to leave the rake orientation the way you had it in the first part of the video. Though I think I would use it the way you first showed it, and like others have commented, use it on the front end loader with the 3pt adapter (Iknew there was another reason I got that.....🤣). All of these comments (or opinions) are a result of being able to watch this from the "outside" and read so many others comments while not having to actually try to get the work done and be in the tractor seat, so please TTWT, don't take any of this as negative towards you and Christy, I would know little more than nothing about how to use my tractor and any of it's attachments without this channel (probably would not have known how great a tractor could be really). So thank you for all that you do and share with us.
I've often thought about getting a landscape rake for the garden trash and small rocks. I keep thinking it would work good with every other rake tooth out or even more of a gap.
The Ventrac trailer mover & the Heavy Hitch rake would go on the front, but no gauge wheels. Unclear if an IMatch would go on the Ventrac 3 point. Like to see Tim rig it. :)
What rake do you have? Many rakes can have wheels added. I have a Deere/Frontier rake but was able to add gauge wheels from TarTar for a fraction of the price that JD wanted for the same wheels.
You could also get a JDQA to 3-PH adapter for the FEL and use the landscape rake on the FEL. With the tines facing away from the front of the tractor, you'd have more reach when pushing the debris further out into the tree line. You'd also have more reach to sneak in under limbs to pull debris away with the tines facing towards the tractor.
How do the wheels on that rake adjust for height? Normally they are mounted with spacers like a finish mower or the tail wheel on a rotary cutter where you put spacers above or below to get the height you want. That rake appears to have some kind of spring arrangement. How does that work? I think that is why so much pressure is being applied to the wheels when you lower it as they are too tall. Also, with wheels you can use your hydraulic top link to regulate the height of the tines.
I don’t like the wheels on the Landscape Rake. It is a good idea but in the way. Keep up the great videos. I have got some good advice, and help with my tractor. I’m waiting for a improved design key for my 4044 M. I am counting on you Tim.
It just seems like the guage wheels were getting in the way for this task. I really like the design of Everything Attachments has where you can not only reverse it but you can offset it a few inches as well. Plus they are a made in the USA 🇺🇸 product.
I'm going to be off for awhile. Shoulder surgery on Tuesday so I won't be any good except standing in the way and giving you my 2 cents. Lol. Or opinion of how to build it
Lol. I'm not behind. Just waiting for the next 1. And logger wade and dirt perfect. There all behind. Lol. Thanks Tim. I thought about taking a short road trip out that way but not sure how I will feel before they start physically therapy
I have a 7 foot one from everything attachments, was about $1100 I believe...sad thing is I haven't even used it and have had it for almost two years...I like the wheels, mine doesn't have them!
Nice attachment. What do you make of the wheels not able to rotate? Also, it is interesting how the 2038R and 2032R sound so different. Has to be due to the Turbo. The 2038R is quieter, more muffled easy sounding. My 2032R is loud.
Tractor Time with Tim would you suggest a landscape rake over a chain harrow for dragging your fields clear of horse manure? Currently using a chain harrow. Your opinion counts
I'm a little confused as to why there would be springs on the gauge wheels. Never seen that before. How do they gauge your rake height if they collapse instead of holding the rake up? As far as the rake goes I love mine as well. Glad Christie was there to bail you out again Tim, LOL
Good video guys. I see the good uses for the rake. Just curious, what is a good plug aerator? I’ve learned over the whatever equipment/tool is available to get the job done is the right tool at the time.
I've a 3 pt. plug aerator made by Kubota's Land Pride division. It works great! The tines don't look that tuff but, believe me, they are. I've never bent or broken one yet. Each tine section is greasable. There's a tray on top to add as much weight as you'd like.
That's not a bad mess to clean up. On Friday I tried to use the lawn roller behind the zero turn got stuck in the field and had to get the tractor to pull out the mower. I almost got stuck in the tractor. I ended up with a 250' long 10-14" deep ruts I will have to fix. I sunk down to the frost in the ground and was just spinning took everything I had to get the mower and tractor I had out. Then got to spend about 2 hours washing off the mud.
Nice use of landscape rake. I was waiting to see if you were going to turn it around. Surprised to learn that Aaron at Ventrac didn't supply you with landscape rake. Maybe he will after watching video. Seems to me that with all of your tractors you may want to find a fuel sponsor. Price for diesel is unbelievably expensive.
Video idea: I'd be interested if Johnny-X changes your hate for the post hole auger attachment; and if it doesn't, what size tractor the post hole auger becomes as effective as you'd hope it to be.
Have you tried putting the landscape rake on the 3-point of the Ventrac? I’m considering a landscape rake or pine straw rake for my Ventrac but would like to know if they will work??
@@TractorTimewithTim Thank you for the quick reply. Is that video still available?? Plus, any thoughts comparing Ventrac’s rake to a standard 3-point rake?, other than above $3,000
Once you get the big branches moved, a Buffalo Turbine blower would have cleaned the rest up nicely and no face wacking of tree branches. I think Vinny might have that attachment too.
If there is a way of setting those gauge wheels more to the ends so your tires can do a full 360 swivel without hitting the rake tines would be the thing.
Always enjoy your videos! Wonder if the JD front mounted broom would be effective. Maybe it would wear fast or not pick up enough, curious idea though.
Those tires are too large for that rake. They need to be able to swivel 360-degrees. The choice of pneumatic tires is also unfortunate. Most rakes have solid tires. Bad design.

Just a good one at to allow partial weight on the rake. Gives a bit more control.
