    I haven't dove much into hlg. I really like cine D 95 % of the time.
    But since this is said to have more dynamic range I think I'll practice using it more

      the problem with cine-D , it has a weird greenish tint on skin tone it appears like someone is sick , and it's hard to remove

    This is the first video where I can see benefits of the HLG profile. I personally use a customized Standard profile because of its color accuracy but I miss the DR there. The Cinelike D gives me a perfect DR, but the color accuracy sucks... Actually, I thought the color accuracy of the HLG is even worse (judging from what I had seen on RUclips before), but you made me give this profile a chance!

    Interesting comparison, thanks! How did you expose for the shots, are you using the zebras and then pulling down exposure until most of the sky was 'safe'? Did you use the exact same ISO / f stop / shutter for both profiles? Cheers!

    • @TeaJayPhotography
      @TeaJayPhotography  4 года назад +1

      I shot at lowest ISO possible on both profiles for maximum dynamic range. ISO 100 for natural and ISO 400 for HLG. Exposed for the highlights with zebras, except on backlit scenes where the highlights are a bit overexposed.

      @@TeaJayPhotography Maybe a new video where natural and HLG both have ISO set to 400.

    • @TeaJayPhotography
      @TeaJayPhotography  3 года назад

      The camera performs best at the lowest possible ISO. So pushing natural to 400 would make it worse.

    How comes you used the white balance picker on the Grey card and not the white? I was always taught grey for exposure white for balance?

    • @TeaJayPhotography
      @TeaJayPhotography  4 года назад +1

      Hey Joe. When using the white card for the picker you have to be sure that none of the color channels is clipped, so the grey card is usually safer. You could use any neutral area in the image for white balance and it should work.

    Is it safe to say that hlg is better to shoot with when outdoors as opposed to indoors?

    • @TeaJayPhotography
      @TeaJayPhotography  4 года назад

      I did not test it that much indoors, but in my HLG vs V-LogL video you can see some indoor and low light shots and I think it does quite good there: ruclips.net/video/myXAs_dnwY0/видео.html

    Hi could you please provide some sample HLG files in mp4 and mov for download? I would like to find out if my PC has enough power and if it works with the free version of Resolve.

      I tested it on my laptop where I still have the free version of Resolve. Does not work, only shows audio. So you could transcode it before editing with another program. I have a download link of one sample file added to the video description.

      Yes, HLG does look quite good straight out of camera. Although it is also a Log format with a different gamma curve than "normal" picture profiles.

    • @TeaJayPhotography

      I shot both color profiles at their native ISO. 200 for Natural and 400 for HLG. You could go down to 100 ISO for natural on the G9 but if there are improvements in DR, they would be very minimal.

    I will never ever do so much post production with my footage.
    If the recording is not looking nice and does not give an overall good impression of what I have seen I have made mistakes while making the footage. Afterwork is very often use to show something that is not existing.

    • @TeaJayPhotography
      @TeaJayPhotography  3 года назад

      It's just basic color correction. You could save this as a preset and make it even faster. No camera can capture what your eyes are seeing so a bit of post processing is always needed.

      @@TeaJayPhotography
      You're right but what are we talking about?
      For a basic color correction I don't need a lot. A simple tool should/program and a few minutes of time investment should be enough.
      The problem is that if you don't define what you really want it will be an endlessness program of buying new equipment.
      But a good craftsman don't need a lot to built a perfect product.
      I invest my time in my skills instead of equipment.

      Yes, you are right. Most people could improve more with perfecting their skills than with buying new gear. But buying new gear is the easy way. My video wasn't about gear anyways.
