@@clasherinotheone5249 Speak for yourself, the Werehog's generic combat looks boring compared to Frontiers', which at least feels like it has a purpose besides padding the game's content.
Unleashed has more combat skills than Frontiers; it even has a charging attack that can 1KO’d the heck out of the enemies. Whereas Frontiers is more appealing, and if you turn that mode off it doesn’t even look much so as the camera angle makes it “unsettling to see” Overall, Unleashed has the best combat, don’t care what others say, it’s better. Also, I agree that SEGA should fix their game, especially with the physics. They still use the physics of Forces, not to mention the animations are very stiff. Seriously, why make it with many platforms sections? Sonic runs at the speed of sound, so he should be in stages with more running and reactions, not boring jumps to get to the other side.
after the updates frontiers has gotten better, even tho the extra story is very very questionable, they fixed a lot of the physics, but kept all the changes behind the movement menu, they should have just abandoned that and figured out how to actually make sonic control decently on their own by now. but you can mess around and actually make the characters control decently in the open world. but combat is still the same which really is a shame, they have proven to not know how to balance this game properly, cause all the difficulties in the game are easy and the only thing different about the one that is supposed to be different is that you always die to one hit, that's it. no fixes, no changes in gameplay or skills, no changing how the enemies work. werehog combat is quite simple, there's no denying it, you got a lot of combos to play around with and the platforming is fun, but enemies aren't the best in that game so it ends up being quite simple. but it still manages to be better than frontiers (in my eyes), just because of the fact that I feel like I'm actually doing stuff and fighting the enemies, the combat in frontiers is super simplifed to the point that many noobs in the hack and slash format can beat the game just by spamming random button because of how easy it is to pull them off. unleashed gets progressively harder as the game goes on so it's always nice to focus your points on all skills instead of just one or two. but in frontiers you have such an easier time that even the bosses are easy, they are cool in the first go and that's about it, when you experience them again it doesn't have the same effect especially because you see how simple they are and how easy it is to tear them to pisses. a game like frontiers which focus a lot more on combat needed more thought out things than the stuff that is the game, it's certainly not bad, but it's disappointing
If only sega add some kind of style meter for SU Ultimate, there's a reason not to spam the exact same thing. The combos are fun but overshadowed by strengths upgrade
it's been a while since frontiers release, and I even saw other folks editing it with goofy sfx after I made this video, so I'd say there is probably a mod out there on games banana, go check it out later
Idc which combat system is better (it's Unleashed, no contest, even then I don't like it and would prefer if the game had day levels only or if the Werehog was more of a dungeon crawler Zelda thing with an emphasis on speedrunning the levels instead of a beat 'em up, it's an average beat 'em up that doesn't need to be there) but goddamn, the edit of the Frontiers' combat footage alone makes me go back to this every now and again, the sounds are perfect.

The "fix your game Sega" at the end aged just as poorly as the ign review because this turned out to be one of the greatest Sonic games of all time! God Bless!🥳🙏🏾💙
wouldn't it have aged good? This was the first sonic game to receive free updates and patches from sega to improve the game, and on launch the game really needed a lot of improvements

@@Nekotario This video was made before it launched though, the "fix your game" implied that it needed to be made better before launch but it turned out that the game was great all along, it was just the reviewers that were playing it poorly! While the free updates and such definitely made the game a whoooole lot better, it was still a good game before them too! It was never broken so they couldn't fix it! They simply just made it more peak if that makes any sense!
Let us establish some things here - 10/22/2022 1. "bro this aged like milk 🤓" yes and no. yes because new frontiers footage and info actually looks miles better from what was initially showed. no because no matter what they have showed they can't deny the fact that what they showed us in the start wasundeniable garbage. and either way, who cares? this is a case that it's good if it actually ages like milk, it's a meme lol. if it ages like milk it's a good sign, it shows that the game is good. 2. "werehog combat is button mashing" I hear this everywhere from people that I can only guess that never played the game or maybe experimented with the werehog combos for a total of 5 minutes, the combat is NOT button mashing. you can make it be like that, but you can also do that for every hack and slash game ever. and the results are the same, repetitive gameplay, long gameplay, and boring gameplay. if you're button mashing with the werehog, get good and start actually learning some combos, it's not even a hard hack and slash. 3. "are you hyped for the game now?" a pretty calm question to finish it off, no I'm not hyped. I have lost almost all of my fate in sega, but. I am excited to see more, I won't be buying it since it costs 300 bucks in my country (brazil), but I'll keep seeing more, it is looking really good compared to the start of the marketing for this game. with all of that said, the game is looking alright. it could still blow up at the launch tho, I'm praying for that to not happen and hoping that sega has learned from their many many many mistakes. This video has been getting some attention recently for some reason. - 23/05/2024 Wow, it's been a while and quite a journey that this game had. Just wanted to update this comment again cause after all this time and all the changes to frontiers... I still prefer unleashed's combat and unleashed as a game over frontiers. I don't think the game is bad, but being completely honest I think it's kinda mid. My first playthrough of the game was really cool and all, but replaying it and getting to see more stuff in detail and experimenting with it, made me dislike the game quite a lot, not a bad game, just far from being my favorite
Frontiers superior now As someone who played unleashed it’s really just..button mashing and hoping you get the combo right. Frontiers seems a lot cooler with its skill tree n all that. I’ll admit I’ll miss the jazz but frontiers is just better so far IMO. Reading the replies to my comment is fun to do every now and then, because I was kidding, frontiers is quite literally a game where you can hold on a single attack and win every fight
@@Nekotario based and true, you’re allowed to explore the combat mechanics if you have the patience and cunning to discover new ways to juggle and combo string the enemies in this game, not to mention it offers a vastly superior thriller in terms of fighting minibosses/main bosses in comparison to frontiers, which has way more repetitivity and lackluster combat interactability
Bruh Frontiers IS the button mashing one, it literally has an option to do AUTOMATIC COMBOS, while the Werehog has those as the final techniques you can get later on the game, and they're not even the best to use in every situation. Frontiers has pretty flashy combat that's cool but the Werehog is objectively better as it has more diverse moves and a blocking system that works.
idk bro Frontiers is great and all but the combat fuckin sucks after the first like, third of the game. it becomes too monotonous and easy. Unleashed's combat becomes way more in depth and rewarding as you progress, its not even close
@@spimbles did you just say unleashed combat is better and is more in-depth? Bro, that game's combat is ass compared to Frontiers lol. Yeah, it has more mores but you don't even need to use all the moves or aren't going to use them. Even with Parry (even though it's gonna get nerfed in update 3) doesn't always work on enemies and they actually want you to use different moves you have.

now? this video is from almost 2 years ago and I like the werehog since the first time I played unleashed a long ass time ago, many people felt the same way about him before unleashed became a more popular game in recent times
the video is a bit old now, but I still think werehog combat is better frontiers combat isn't bad, just very very simple, I prefer the style of combos in unleashed compared to frontiers, in frontiers the combos feel more automated and super easy to pull off, doens't help that this game needed enemy variety and it doesn't have that, the mini bosses are very simple and straight forward, only a few like ninja actually feel good to fight in unleashed you had to be creative with your combos to try to reach the goal faster, you could always spam if you have your strength up but that would suck the fun and enjoyment out of the game, unleashed's combat is far from being perfect or being a super complex thing to understand, but just by the little things it has it makes it more enjoyable for me compared to frontiers

No way you tried to shit on frontiers with that mid same button mashing werehog game that repeats with litle to 0 changes in combat, at least in frontiers you get variation the werehog gets old and especially old during the arabic night stage
what variation does frontiers have? Do you fight any enemy in groups besides soldiers? Every encounter is literally just one guy… Unleashed’s encounters are all groups of enemies, and they’re all different, and you have to prioritize different enemies and focus on your positioning. Frontiers just auto-completes combos for you when you press a button.
Yall did not get that mid isn't trash, I called mid because of the reapatable cycle, I played both games and I did not have fun in the end game as werehog, sure when you are leveling him up you hit the limit of how much fun you can have soon if you upgrade too much technique, strenght or health. Sonic frontiers however kicked my ass with the extreme difficulty where you are ONE TAP, and I bet none of you even used shield in the werehog game, and dont take my word for its objectively known frontiers kicked multiple people's ass with extreme difficulty (although I admit wyvern has bs of animations thats flaw in game and design) Both games have also largely different combat and I am not a fan of the games where you fight army, I prefer stronger opponents. also my reason for calling it mid only applies to the gameplay of the werehog, the parkour, the combat wasnt revolutionary but it was cool nonetheless. the story was amazing and the final boss fight made me somehow trigger adrenaline.

their joke-video trailer: ^
Sonic Unleashed the best game ever 😎
Oof that’s the frame rate I remember :”(. If on,y they would port unleashed
maybe in 2025
@@Nekotario Aaaaand we're running out of time
Unleashed has more combat skills than Frontiers; it even has a charging attack that can 1KO’d the heck out of the enemies. Whereas Frontiers is more appealing, and if you turn that mode off it doesn’t even look much so as the camera angle makes it “unsettling to see”
Overall, Unleashed has the best combat, don’t care what others say, it’s better.
PLEASE tell me that there's a goofy ahh sound effect mod for Frontiers because it just works way too well
it's been a while since frontiers release, and I even saw other folks editing it with goofy sfx after I made this video, so I'd say there is probably a mod out there on games banana, go check it out later
Let us establish some things here - 10/22/2022
1. "bro this aged like milk 🤓"
yes and no. yes because new frontiers footage and info actually looks miles better from what was initially showed. no because no matter what they have showed they can't deny the fact that what they showed us in the start wasundeniable garbage. and either way, who cares? this is a case that it's good if it actually ages like milk, it's a meme lol. if it ages like milk it's a good sign, it shows that the game is good.
2. "werehog combat is button mashing"
I hear this everywhere from people that I can only guess that never played the game or maybe experimented with the werehog combos for a total of 5 minutes, the combat is NOT button mashing. you can make it be like that, but you can also do that for every hack and slash game ever. and the results are the same, repetitive gameplay, long gameplay, and boring gameplay. if you're button mashing with the werehog, get good and start actually learning some combos, it's not even a hard hack and slash.
3. "are you hyped for the game now?"
a pretty calm question to finish it off, no I'm not hyped.
Wow, it's been a while and quite a journey that this game had.

As someone who played unleashed it’s really just..button mashing and hoping you get the combo right. Frontiers seems a lot cooler with its skill tree n all that. I’ll admit I’ll miss the jazz but frontiers is just better so far IMO.
Reading the replies to my comment is fun to do every now and then, because I was kidding, frontiers is quite literally a game where you can hold on a single attack and win every fight
werehog combat really isn't button mashing if you just put effort into it
I can confirm it is true I grew up playing unleashed and I can confirm it is button mashing
@@Web-Boi I also grew up playing it, plus I 100% the hd version. can confirm you're all just bad and don't know how to do combos properly

You're only gonna use one move in Unleashed but in Frontiers, you use more moves in the move list since the game has enemies that actually require you to use combos and different moves to beat them. Even with Parry (even though it's gonna get nerfed in update 3) doesn't always work on enemies and they actually want you to use different moves you have.
@@pancakes7483 dude you obviously dont know what youre talking about LMFAO you just said Unleashed is the game where you can spam one move to win? i... youre lost, man 💀
@@spimblesThat's the truth, you can beat all enemies with basic attacks, you don't need any strategy to do it, it's a generic hack n slash.

Your mom has been dommed since she gave birth you, you're not even a special kind of doomed
Oh come on, the sonic frontiers combat wasn’t that bad
the video is a bit old now, but I still think werehog combat is better
frontiers combat isn't bad, just very very simple, I prefer the style of combos in unleashed compared to frontiers, in frontiers the combos feel more automated and super easy to pull off, doens't help that this game needed enemy variety and it doesn't have that, the mini bosses are very simple and straight forward, only a few like ninja actually feel good to fight
in unleashed you had to be creative with your combos to try to reach the goal faster, you could always spam if you have your strength up but that would suck the fun and enjoyment out of the game, unleashed's combat is far from being perfect or being a super complex thing to understand, but just by the little things it has it makes it more enjoyable for me compared to frontiers

No way you tried to shit on frontiers with that mid same button mashing werehog game that repeats with litle to 0 changes in combat, at least in frontiers you get variation the werehog gets old and especially old during the arabic night stage
you sure you don't got that backwards?
what variation does frontiers have? Do you fight any enemy in groups besides soldiers? Every encounter is literally just one guy… Unleashed’s encounters are all groups of enemies, and they’re all different, and you have to prioritize different enemies and focus on your positioning. Frontiers just auto-completes combos for you when you press a button.
Ah yes Frontiers playable cutscenes equals the gameplay of the century goddamit this fandom is doomed
Yall did not get that mid isn't trash, I called mid because of the reapatable cycle, I played both games and I did not have fun in the end game as werehog, sure when you are leveling him up you hit the limit of how much fun you can have soon if you upgrade too much technique, strenght or health.
Sonic frontiers however kicked my ass with the extreme difficulty where you are ONE TAP, and I bet none of you even used shield in the werehog game, and dont take my word for its objectively known frontiers kicked multiple people's ass with extreme difficulty (although I admit wyvern has bs of animations thats flaw in game and design)
Both games have also largely different combat and I am not a fan of the games where you fight army, I prefer stronger opponents.
also my reason for calling it mid only applies to the gameplay of the werehog, the parkour, the combat wasnt revolutionary but it was cool nonetheless. the story was amazing and the final boss fight made me somehow trigger adrenaline.
