This band is a legacy in itself. I actually see the chimaira logo on walls when I'm sleep deprived lol 😆 that said, who made the logo and what was the inspiration to the 'shuriken C' of Chimairas logo?
It's absolutely insane just how many stupid good riffs you came up with for that album. Any time a friend asks me for something heavy and groovy, I shove Chimaira's self titled in their faces. I've often wondered how the album would've been different, or if it would've been different, with Andols playing the drums instead of Kevin. Thank you for creating this monster of a record.

Rob, just want to say - thank you so much for this masterpiece in particular. And my huge respect for all enormous things you've done. I discovered Chimaira in the begining of 2019 and, honestly, I CAN NOT stop listening to you. There are only three bands that are a part of my every day - Alice in Chains, Slipknot and (guess what) - Chimaira. Your headbanging and groovy riffs, as well as brilliant solos and technique are truly something special! Literally, several weeks ago I've told my girlfriend that I really want you to do a lesson on this one. Despite the fact that I'm a professional chemist, I play guitar for more than 10 years to date. That’s like saying you hear EVH in Dime’s solos. But only experienced guitar players would understand. Good catch. I heard it too. Not a rip off. Just an influential learning which he used to create his own unique sound. Inspiration is key. Love Rob. Thanks for that comment btw 🤟
Back in those days 05/06/07 getting guitars tabs off the internet. I never did the "sweep" pick thing there in the solo I always just bent the string but it sounded good at the time. And the lead notes there in that solo are just so unconventional but damn does it work. This video just makes me want to put the locking nuts back on my ibanez and enjoy owning a floyd rose again
Amazing tone. Everytime I either saw you live or watched a guitar video of you, I always got memorized in the tone. And Save Ourselves is one of the greatest songs you ever wrote. I think you may even played it live in Sayreville New Jersey a week or two before the album came out. I was at the show you did with Children of Bodom and Through the Eyes of the Dead and it was amazing
This is one of your best solos. Every since I heard it the first time, it has stuck with me. I love getting to hear it stand alone like this because you can hear all the little details that get lost with all the other instruments around it on the album version. Thanks for this video and the one for Inside the Horror as well. My 2 favorite Chimaira songs.
Cool video again. If it doesn't already exist, maybe you could make all chimaira tabs. Some of tabs on the web are wrong ! And I think some of people like me are ready to buy it to have real exact tabs ;) Another suggestions for future videos : - homestudio walkthrough - we could vote for the next chimaira cover - you cover a song from another band - what are you working on guitar (learning, improve skill, cover, only riffing ...) I’d like to see the ending riffs from Total Destruction by The Elite. The “Doing time...” bit, y’know? “the walls are screaming, murder, my mind’s been reeling, man is still suffering, slaughter disguised as the will of god.” The end of the song is so heavy and I’d love to learn that part on guitar
i feel that some of the leads on impossibily are more chaotic and chromatic. with maybe the title track being an exception but the s/t solos are so nice to listen to. like a small song inside the actual song. really cool and inspiring writing :D

To me it's all about those first two opening riffs. Oh my goodness are they so gnarly and sweet. Rest of the song great but the first minute of this song is an out of body experiment for me lmao 🤣
In your last video you mentioned favorite guitars. The guitar you have now is my favorite. And you mentioned you never listened to Malevolent Creation. If you get a chance, check out the album, The Ten Commandments from Malevolent Creation. It is one of my top 5 of all time death metal albums.
Awesome bro! And I've got a new vid on the way where I'll talk about this guitar some more. And you know what's cool? SO many dudes have mentioned the Malevolent thing now, and everyone has a different favorite album that they recommend... So you know what that means? It means they most likely have a killer catalog, and I need to get off my ass and check it out!🤘🎸
What are your string guages used in this video? I have a very similar ESP and want to put it in drop C. That tone given off by the guitar itself is great and clear.
Right on! I always use 11-52. Check out some of my maintenance tutorials if you're interested! I'm always talking about my strings and set ups and stuff!🎸 ruclips.net/p/PLlBg61aZ3R9hgeIHMDyr50S5mDMOgq-p2
Amazing once again Rob. Did I hear an hint of Eddie Van Halen in the solo ? and if so Cool. I remember when I first heard this song on the Self titled album. It just gripped me straight me away. Loved the way that you used the double notes (4th's) and also how you bar some notes. Maybe some more lesson's on tuning might help others to understand how they tune there guitars. I hope that you are keeping well and save at this moment in time. So for now take care.
Right on Darren! I WISH there was some Eddie in there! I guess that's up to YOU to decide! Eddie is one of my all time favorites, but I could never touch his style. So if you hear some Eddie in there, then I say thank you, and that I'm not worthy!🙏🎸🤘
I would say that you are Worthy Rob. Your style of playing is in a class of its own I think. I also am a BIG fan of Eddie. I've got a box set of the first 6 Van halen albums on CD. Partly because of being a fan of both Eddie and David Lee Roth.
I only wish that I lived near to you. As it would be nice to hear some more of your playing. Maybe one day that might happen. That's if I ever win the lotto and also when this bloody virus ends. Ps don't visit New York City right now
@@RobArnoldWorld it's a great guitar album and I don't think it got enough credit.. but that comes down to the label and all that. Did you use the same rig on that album as you did for the one before? I'm going to listen to it again tomorrow lol
Awesome video. Did you know theres 2 sellers on amazon that have the chimaira self titled cd for $800 and $900 some dollars. Theres no real description or anything appearing to be special about them. Anyways i just thought it was interesting.
Rob, you’re my all time favorite guitarist, and I want to slap myself for being that guy, but a flatted 4th would be a major 3rd (one string up, and one fret down). What you meant was a “power chord inversion” where the perfect 5th drops to the root note, but the feel of the chord remains in the higher note in the chord. Like playing a dropped d power chord without the root note. I know... i know... NERRRD!!!! Anyway, I’m going to put my head in the sand now. I just figured if I was out in public with a friend, and they had a booger hanging out of their nose, I’m going to let them know instead of just letting them walk around like that lol. Anyway... I love that solo, thanks for the rundown. Oh hey, if you got like 45 seconds, i posted my entry into Sarah Longfield’s #winsarahsig competition on my channel, would be forever grateful for some critique, even if it’s a roast. It’s a closed judging thing, so promise I’m not just trying to push the video for views lol, not that i would get many anyway.
@@dakotawinston7677 😂 I think he did, but he still calls it a flatted 4th. It’s ok, we know what he means. He doesn’t claim to be a theory nerd expert, so I’m not going on hold it against him. It’s like that line from ‘Tropic Thunder’, “I don’t know what it’s called. I just know the sound it makes when it takes a man’s life…” only it’s “I don’t know what it’s called… I just know the sound it makes when it MELTS YOUR FACE!” 😂😂
I remember reading or hearing somewhere you didnt or ''they'' didnt consider you as a ''shedder guitarist'' not sure if it was the band or the media giving you shit about this but then Chimaira released Resurrection and we all remember the melt your face off solo at the end of THE FLAME ( one of my all time favs!!!) which was meant to be a '' fuck all you guys I can SHRED and melt your off even if I don't claim too'' type thing... how and why thats in my brain Im not sure but if you could shed some light on the situation one way or the other that would be awesome! kepp kickin ass as always Rob!!! your the man!
Haha cheers Corey man! I never considered myself a shredder, and still don't. I'd like to think of myself as a more soulful player that has "moments of shred here and there" haha. I'd say that bit in the flame is my shreddiest moment though for sure! Thx for watching and for the support bro!👊🎸
@@RobArnoldWorld I play guitar, and I totally get the souful player example , theres nothing wrong with the Yngwie Malmsteens of the world, but I prefer that soulful style of playing over the shred, Dimebag is a great example of what to do with ONE note. Hell yea! keep it comin and well keep supporting! and see if you can get that damn band back together!! Mark, Rob, Matt, Jim, Andols!!! #chimaira And side note, assuming you guys want it and can get along, start one of those crowd funding things, well get you guys the money to record a new record, I can promise that! too many people miss your band!
Keep the content coming! This is awesome man I love what you're doing. I've been such a huge fan since I was a kid. I remember talking to you years ago about making it. And your pizza hut mgr background. Haha. It's funny how I went from listening to you with long dirty hair smoking pot being lazy to now enjoying this video drinking coffee before I head to work from my home I now own. And damnit I love your signature ESP model. I've ALWAYS wanted one. Still on the hunt. Someone please lmk if they have one or find one somewhere. Keep up the content Rob, Always here to support you however I can brother. Love from 717.
Haha awesome Glenn! 🍕Glad you're still listening after all these years! I hope you can get your hands on an RA-600! Just set up notifications on eBay! They pop up from time to time! Lemme know!👊
Love that solo, Rob... my head starts banging every time. I'm thinking to make a full cover of one song from this album, in these days... but I don't know which one to choose, because they are beautiful. I really like the atmosphere of Lazarus... what do You think?
No pressure, but this song is available along with many others, with 100% accuracy and in both .pdf and Guitar Pro formats, over in my Patreon Community!

Hellz ya! I love this song and it’s cool because it’s something i feel I can attain after some practice as a newer guitar player \m/ cheers RA! Tone sounds great man
I loved reading this, before I even looked up and saw that it was you Erik! It IS attainable! Go get it! Oh, and I'm here if you need any help with it, in exchange for cocktails.😉🥃🤘
Rob Arnold -virtual happy hour guitar lesson is in order cheers!
Go back on the road Rob. Saw Chimaira, 7 times \m/
Set it up!🤘
outstanding as always
🤘
I was listening to the album after reading all the comments about it and boom
I've always referred to the self titled chimaira album as the black album. Seems fitting considering it's back and you're a huge Metallica fan
I'll take it!🙏🤘
Dude your awesome I look forward to anything you put out. How much would I have to donate to your patrean to get full access
Literally anything you can bro! There are different tiers you can choose from, but ultimately it's up to you! Just check out the page and see if something feels right for you. No pressure! And thanks for the consideration and for tuning in!👊🤘 www.patreon.com/robarnoldworld
Hey Rob huge fan but I’m pretty sure your flattened 4ths are actually perfect 4ths. Peace man!
Maybe!🤘
Or and inverted 5th...
Another great insight into Rob Arnold world. Nice! \m/
🤘
It means they most likely have a killer catalog, and I need to get off my ass and check it out!🤘🎸
@@RobArnoldWorld
Oh yea the entire discography is OUTSTANDING
I fucking love playing this song on guitar.
🎸🤘
Ps don't visit New York City right now
Dope as always my dude!
Thanks Andrew!
@@RobArnoldWorld I posted a video the other day and one of yours was playing in the background. So I gave you a shout.
@@AndrewStonerock I just checked it out! 👊
@@RobArnoldWorld oh wow!
Are you more proud of TIOR album or self titled? And what would you listen to the most out of the two?
S/T is the album I'm most proud of out of any record I've ever been a part of, and would be the album I reached for if I wanted to jam something out🤘
@@RobArnoldWorld it's a great guitar album and I don't think it got enough credit.. but that comes down to the label and all that. Did you use the same rig on that album as you did for the one before? I'm going to listen to it again tomorrow lol
@@M.C.R.SYNTRN Similar! On our S/T album, we also used a Bogner Uberschall IN ADDITION to our normal Peavey rigs.
@@RobArnoldWorld what band/bands was your main inspiration going into that album? if any. Thanks for the replies bro!
Awesome video. Did you know theres 2 sellers on amazon that have the chimaira self titled cd for $800 and $900 some dollars. Theres no real description or anything appearing to be special about them. Anyways i just thought it was interesting.
They must be looking for some sucker out there to drop that kind of cash!🤷🏻♂️
Another epic episode👌👌👌👌Sick as f....😝😝😝😝Thank you Rob🤘🤘🤘🤘
🤘😝👊
I was searching for this correction in the comments haha, perfectly explained. I wonder if Rob got the info.
Dude, we need to jam! Serious goal of mine is a jam session with you.
How about Venom Inside? These videos are killer man
Thx Nick!
I think that sounds like a good idea. Bring it on!🎸
@@RobArnoldWorld perfect, bro'... soon! \m/
What's that tune at the very end with the sexy double bass going on?
That's "Gun To Your Head" by my other band, The Elite! Check it out!
