This is one of the more savage Chimaira songs and I love everything about it! Andols' drumming, the pummeling riffs, Chris (or Morgoth's) mighty sound design and of course Mark's lyrics and vocals. Definitely my absolute favorite from Resurrection!
The "under riff" clip near the end of the solo that follows along to Andols' blast beat is so awesome! It's only 2 seconds but the more you deep dive into songs you hear those nuances. I've been binging all things Chimaira for the umteenth time in my life and love that there's always something new to discover.
I love how half way through the lesson Rob says "Oh BTW this song is in Drop C" and plucks all the strings. Too many RUclips lessons... "Ok we're in E Standard" (Or whatever..) and then show you how to tune your guitar. Just tell us the tuning and get on with it like Rob does...🤘
Honestly tho, I love that thing of using basically the same riff but multiple variations throughout a song. I do it all the time, same base but lot's of variants of it.
Right on man! Early on, I was inspired by bands or songs that did what you've described here. So it's cool that you noticed, and rad that you utilize the technique as well!🤘
LOL hell yes shout out to Headbanger's Ball. Thanks Rob Super sick riffs as usual. If you get a minute or anyone else who reads this look up Bat Metal. If you haven't seen it yet. You won't be disappointed.
This is the best cut on Resurrection. I’m glad you did this video and It’s the first Chimaira song I’ve gotten good at, Bloodlust is right behind it. Appreciate you, Rob! Keep bringing it! 👊🏻

Loved the double notes in this one Rob. And you showed that you can also use Power chords. The one thing that I enjoyed and that is how you showed the pinch notes. Just hold the pick in a bit closer. Sounds so Effective and flows with the rest of the notes.
Keep up the instructional videos Rob! Love seeing how songs I've been listening to for years are actually played and seeing if my ability to pick them up by ear is right. IF you can, do Everything You Love next. That's the song that hooked me on Chimaira. Much love from MI! Keep rocking! \m/

Rob Arnold sweet I just watched it and I agree with the “feel” of a wound 3rd, I also think it helps with tuning. I’m convinced a plain G is more out of tune all around the neck than a wound one. You ever see those “compensating nuts” that intonate your fretboard better? Look at the chart here www.earvana.com/technology-1.html this is off a plain G. Look how much it’s out of tune! To my ear the wound G smooths out its tuning with chords and everything better. Some companies make floyd Rose ones too!

Dude, are you clairvoyant?!?!? I was messing around with some of the awesome Chimaira riffs, Pure Hatred, Resurrection, and Nothing Remains, I was hoping you would attack this song but was also hoping you do more than just one riff from it and you released on my fucking birthday on top of it. Like I've stated before, I am trying to get better at Drop D tunings (drop C#, drop C etc. etc.) but most of the material I learned in my formative years primarily played in standard tunings, Pantera, Sepultura, Guns N Roses, Metallica, Megadeth, UNTILL all of sudden all you bastards starting playing in drop tunings, and I do mean damn near all of you, obviously Chimaira, God Forbid, All That Remains, Avenged Sevenfold, Slipknot, Machine Head, Tool (though they have been in Drop D since day 1) Lamb of God, I could keep going but you get the point, long story long, thank you for this quick tutorial of bad ass song, and one with wicked keys on it.
Awesome Taylor! I'm glad it all worked out that way!😉🤘 And yeah man, I grew up listening to and playing the same stuff as you, all in a standard tuning. But once the drop tuning thing came around, I was a victim of circumstance, and learned the craft. And now I'm glad to be somewhat proficient in both! Which is something I recommend everyone try and do as well! And for folks that grew up in the drop tuning era, I think it would be beneficial to go back and learn some old fashioned power chord shapes like me and my man Taylor here!🎸

Focking hell Rob pretty complex shit, I am breaking my fingers here. But awesome as always from the riff meister😎
Haha you got this man! 🤘😝
What’s the string choice you use? I currently use Ernie ball paradigm 10-52s and believe it helps me with getting your sound down as well as I do
Cool! I'm using DR High Beams 11-52🎸
How could I go about getting some of your signature tour picks? Have you ever considered selling them if you even have any?
@@deezystuntz8834 If I even have any?!?!
Make sure you check out Everything You Love episode 07! I show off my entire collection! Unfortunately none are for sale though. But, whenever someone orders my guitar instructional dvd, I always through in a couple random picks!🤘😉

Alright so that’s that, uuuuuuuuuuuuuh... *face zoom * 🤣
🤘🤣
Fucking love this.
I'm glad it all worked out that way!😉🤘
And yeah man, I grew up listening to and playing the same stuff as you, all in a standard tuning. But once the drop tuning thing came around, I was a victim of circumstance, and learned the craft. And now I'm glad to be somewhat proficient in both! Which is something I recommend everyone try and do as well! And for folks that grew up in the drop tuning era, I think it would be beneficial to go back and learn some old fashioned power chord shapes like me and my man Taylor here!🎸
its funny that you call it the corps harmony , i've always called it the chimaira harmony. haha
Ha!👊
Oh and I wonder then what Corpse calls it!?!? 🤘🤣
