Hey, rob I have a question and maybe you've already answered this before: why is it with all of the numerous great options as far as guitar companies, them dropping your signature model (which bummed me out. Right when I had enough cash I couldn't buy one anymore), and guitar prices continuing to climb, you continue to choose ESP as your go to company? And also, do you have other brands in your collection that we haven't seen yet?
@@thatsameenergy I'm very fortunate to still have a full endorsement from ESP. Couple that with the fact that I truly LOVE everything about ESP guitars, and think they're the best guitars out there. Plus, it's still a dream come true scenario for me, as I used to stare at posters of James and Kirk on my walls as a kid, playing ESP guitars, and now I'm featured along side them in past ESP catalogs. Talk about surreal! ESP discontinued production of my signature model when I retired from touring back in 2011. And that's because that's the way it works with signature guitars... they want you out there playing them night after night from the big stages. But as my RUclips channel grows, perhaps that will change down the road. All but two of my guitars and basses are ESP's. My very first guitar, a Tanara (ibanez copy), is featured in ep. 10 of my Everything You Love show, and a Dean Razorback V, which is featured in EYL ep. 30. Check em' out if you haven't seen them! Oh, and I also have some Yamaha and Fender acoustics. 🎸
dude, you should totally do a watchthrough of one of the chimaira documentary here on youtube, with commentary from you alone, or together with Mark and others! Would personally love to watch the dehumanizing process with the commentary from band members with hindsight of 2023!

Little did we know we were gonna get our heads ripped off by Chimaira......My buddies ears started bleeding! Literally!

So, The first song, that I couldn't ☆ Let Go ☆ Back when I first heard it in the Sky Church, underneath the Space Needle in 2002. Chimaira opened for Danzig, and I have been hooked ever since. Fast forward almost 22 years, and I am still down for it. The drop A , 7 string approach didn't last, and what I believe is Chimairas sound...if you will...( Rob Arnold ) Is drop C. From Pass out to the next Album was a metamorphosis I feel. With the foundation still there of course. I am happy to have picked up my Schecter Hellraiser..tuned her down to Drop A this morning..and made my girls put up with learning this song. I received the email yesterday, but I'm a workn Union Carpenter and when they off OT..I'm all over that shizz.$$$ BUT... thank you brother for this song. It truly was and is the beginning of my Chimaira journey, and now, I get to add it to me list. Soon, I'll upload one of your bangers to my Channel for all to see..but mostly as an ode to you my friend.

Also Jim kept stepping my my fingers the whole show because I had my hands on the PA. Awesome show. Got a drum head and a few picks you guys tossed out at the end of the show. We also seen Matt and was like who’s this guy. That doesn’t look like Hager. We had no idea Jason left.
I wish more guitarists would do this. Those tab books can be inaccurate. Absolutely love that nasty tone you get out of that low A string. I'd love to see how you do the outro to "Dead Inside"

So glad to see the Quick riff series back Rob. One or two things that I'd like to ask you. You've tuned this seven string to A. If you was to play this on a six string would the tuning by the same ? And what set of strings are you using on the seven string.

Thanks dude! Unfortunately it was so long ago, that I don't know exactly what was used to create the guitar tone on the Pass Out album. I do remember it being a mix of four amps.. A Yamaha DG130H, a Dual Rec, a Line 6, and something else.

Hey Rob, are your parts always mixed in the right headphone? Just asking because I noticed that alot of bands have each guitar on each side, like Five Pointe O where the lead is on the right side and rhythm is on the left. I also noticed that some bands like Slipknot would switch it up. like on the first album they had Mick on the right and Jim on the Left, but on Iowa they had it switched around. Its kind of confusing to follow.
No, there's no formula to which side I'm on. It varies from record to record, and on many songs, it's me on both sides. Some songs it's Matt on both sides. And on a few songs, it's even Mark on both sides. We always just did things in a way that best served the song. Each is unique. 🎸

If it were on a 6 string, I think I'd just tune it AEADGB low to high. On the 7 string, I still use 11-52, and then I add a 60 for the 7th string!🎸

@@619dar I don't really understand the question, but because the 6th string is a .52, you need something thicker for the 7th string. So a .60 it is!
Rob, brilliant video, I love that Chimaira record. Could you tell us some tricks to get that heavy and beautiful guitar tone from Pass out Of Existence?
Thanks dude! Unfortunately it was so long ago, that I don't know exactly what was used to create the guitar tone on the Pass Out album. I do remember it being a mix of four amps.. A Yamaha DG130H, a Dual Rec, a Line 6, and something else.

Hey Rob, are your parts always mixed in the right headphone? Just asking because I noticed that alot of bands have each guitar on each side, like Five Pointe O where the lead is on the right side and rhythm is on the left. I also noticed that some bands like Slipknot would switch it up. like on the first album they had Mick on the right and Jim on the Left, but on Iowa they had it switched around. Its kind of confusing to follow.
No, there's no formula to which side I'm on. It varies from record to record, and on many songs, it's me on both sides. Some songs it's Matt on both sides. And on a few songs, it's even Mark on both sides. We always just did things in a way that best served the song. Each is unique. 🎸

Yo! For my 7 string guitars, I always used 11-60 (11,13, 20w, 30, 42, 52, 60). And for 6 string, I always use the same, minus the 60. 🎸
