    This tutorial shows how to set up an external graphics card on a laptop without taking it apart and without removing your Wi-Fi card from the mini PCI-E slot, also without using thunderbolt 3 port. This upgrade is usually for gaming purposes, graphics design, or movie making.
    This approach addresses three of the common challenges of using desktop graphics cards externally with laptops.
    1. First is odd of having to give up your wi-fi card mini PCIe slot in order to attach the eGPU cable.
    2. Second is the issue of size, that’s the portability of the components required to implement this scheme, more specifically, the power adapters.
    3. The third is, of course, the issue of cost.
    Here are the components needed:
    - An EXP GDC 8.0 External laptop GPU dock (Expresscard Version): bit.ly/39zmIqG
    - DELL D220P-01 power supply: www.primetechm...
    - Or 450 Watt Desktop PC PSU Unit (if portability is not an issue) goo.gl/hjtT28
    - A 6-pin graphics card cable goo.gl/Xqk8AY (if you’re using a bigger graphics card that requires additional power and has the 6-Pin port somewhere around it)

    My laptop is 11 years old. It's seen me through university, important milestones, and done projects professional and personal. It's gotten dropped, had water spilled on it, died several times, gotten fixed, upgraded, and now it's basically a low-level Frankenstein monster of a computer-- but I absolutely love it. It's outlived several of my friends' desktops and laptops, all of them newer, with them using them with less strenuous work. With your video, I hope to be able to keep it for much longer and play more games and edit more videos with it. Thank you for this!

Right now i'm lookin for a way to improve the looks and portability of my Egpu setup, as i don't have yet a case for it not even the dell D220 power supply, but i'm going to solve that soon.

    If I want to use my laptop on the go, can I just unplug the eGPU and plug it in later with minimal setup?

    • @concernedcommenter8258
      @concernedcommenter8258 3 года назад

      Taking the plug out during use is risky. If you power off the computer and then take it out it should be fine, while unplugged there is no guarantee things will work properly but aside from some errors that might happen it should be safe. Computer should work fine again when plugged back in anyways. Once again I recommend powering off the PC before plugging the GPU back in.

    I have same laptop just like in 4:29 and I wonder if that small express card will fit on the express slot here since it has wider slot. Then, if someone who doesn't have express card, there is one solution although, you might have to take out your wireless card inside your laptop and install the special cable (I don't know what it is called). This is a good example of budget gaming rig for those who has a laptop and want to play games even on mid range graphic settings. Might plan to do this external GPU + upgrade of RAM and SSD and another external HDD because I do study video editing, photoshops and some play some games on my steam.

SO my question is weather using a thunderbolt to hdmi cable will be effective in sending data to dock ?

    • @skullgen9124
      @skullgen9124 5 лет назад

      More than likely a driver issue, a 1050ti isn't too power hungry and doesn't require an extra pcie plug I don't believe, try downloading an older driver from Nvidia like 368.xx where xx is the driver where support for the 1050ti is introduced, I don't have that information off hand. After you download that driver upgrade it to the new drivers manually
