Update Feb. 23, 2024: For context, this video is an update from the Registry method video (ruclips.net/video/0lbh92l2OPM/видео.html) I published earlier on, but since that method no longer works, I had to create a video with alternatives.
Thanks for providing this solution! I had Win 11, 2 years ago and rolled it back to Win 10 due to having so many issues - taskbar position was one of them! Can't believe Microsoft have not addressed this issue due to the volume of comments on this online (I think they're trying to emulate a MAC look and feel!) . Taskbar at top is better for your posture too! For those in Australia, Start11 is AUD$16.99 for 1 x active install with 30 days of support as of 21 Sep 2024.
This is heartbreaking without having taskbar on top in official windows. Before switching top you've to rely on a software that is unfortunate proceeding with!
@@sturmx96 No, it won't. Microsoft always stays with a specific design choice that nobody understands and barely anybody likes. Until they drop it a few years later.
Hey WINDOWS11 DESIGNERS... BRING BACK THE ABILITY TO MOVE THE TASK BAR TO THE TOP OR SIDES.. AT THE BOTTOM IT UNTERFERES WITH SO MANY BANKING AND MEDIA ENTER SPACES WE CANT SEE CUZ WE CANT SCROLL DOWN WITH OUT THAT DAMN TASK BAR POPPING UP AND BLOCKING IT.. SIGNED, pissed of patron
This is why I often advise friends and colleagues to move to Windows 11. It is clear that Microsoft was too rushed to release Windows 11 that they did not think about how the taskbar and Start Menu may look and work when they are in different positions.
They actually did, the future of the desktop includes a secondary bar that will be docked at the top, similar to macOS. No word when it'll come out though.
The first windows based OSes like X on Unix workstations had the taskbar on top. That's where it belongs. Microsoft put it on the bottom to avoid getting sued by making Windows "different." It never belonged there. I've always put it back where it belongs, on top. Sad that they've dumbed down Windows 11 like this, and no doubt claim it's some kind of advantage.
On the side is also good If you have a top bar for menus (MacOS and KDE) or other toolbars. Then you left corner becomes the hot-zone of all important actions
Having taskbar fixed at the bottom is downright stupid! Programs (such as browsers) have many important items at the top (menu, tab, etc). Also, in an ergonomic desk set-up, we put our eyes position at the middle-top and scroll down if needed so our eyes are not moving. My eyes are so tired from repeatedly moving top to the bottom just to navigate between windows. Windows, please fix it!
Microsoft has removed the feature to move the taskbar to the top. Period. If you want it at the top, your only solution is to use third-party software. Or, downgrade to Windows 10, unfortunately. Thanks,
explorer patcher does not work it is automatically stopped after instalation when you run it screen appears for a few seconds and disapears. Microsoft is always determined to suck the happines out of life.
I would use Star11. The guy building ExplorerPatcher is always patching the app, because Microsoft updates for Windows most of the times break the tool.
"Redundant"? Nope. Redundant means duplicate and therefore unnecessary. You mean obsolete, as in it no longer applies. Please learn what words mean before using them.

Does explorer patcher is stable when u use it?
It worked alright during the testing time. I personally like my Taskbar at the bottom - Thanks, Mauro.

That's my name :P
Worked a treat and a big relief for me as I really hated it when the taskbar was down at the bottom ...

Two more dreams ....
1. Time and Calendar in the middle of the top taskbar.
2. Taskbar transparency

Thanks so much for this information. Your instructions make it impossible to fail!
Good to see you publish videos about heavier customization! A series 👀?
Nope, I just go as I can, got a lot of ideas, but not enough time. Remember that my channel is an extension of the main .com website. Thanks,
Thank you for showing us explore patcher, I was getting so tired of the windows 11 taskbar

Its insensitive of Windows developers where the whole team just thought about themselves before launching in the global market.
I think they were trying to do something new, but maybe some features are better left alone.
How to open the properties of it?
for me it directly switched it to windows 10
can I leave it on win 11 option & still move the bar up?
you mean you can't natively change the alignment of the taskbar?
Nope, you cannot.
For some reason when I use this it enables labels on the taskbar, no option to remove them (explorer patcher)
in ExplorerPatcher version 22621.3880.66.5 the menu is no longer there

What happens if you uninstall the Start11 app? Does it revert my taskbar settings into the original?
Yes, the app will revert the changes to the Windows 11 original settings.
Hi, someone know how can I move the taskbar in the right of the screen? or just delock it so I can move it as I want

Bull. Why not a simple powershell script instead of a greedy trick.
out of here with that paid shit

What option are you talking about? Both of the options shown in the video still work.
