Development is slow. Features have been missing for too long. Modding community has been neglected. If you are alleging the devs already made 20 million dollars, then unfortunately they have little incentive to finish the game. People shouldn't be paying that much for an unfinished product. I think you had a good point at the end when you made a comparison to Dwarf Fortress. A long development time isn't necessarily bad if all the core elements of the game have already been implemented and the Devs are spending all those extra years adding content, refining the game, and fixing bugs. That's essentially free game that you didn't have to pay for... The problem with Stoneshard is they kind of set the expectations high, made a lot of promises, and failed to deliver on those promises in a reasonable amount of time. They are still missing core features of the game after 6 years. So instead of people saying, "Wow, look at these devs and how much love and dedication they've put into this game over 6 years." They say, "Wow, 6 years and I still can't make a custom character"
Just to be clear, the 20 million dollars thing was a joke! I'm sure they made a good amount of money, but I'm also sure running a game studio isn't cheap, either. I feel like what dwarf fortress is an example of something that's built bit by bit, but feels complete during almost the entire process. Stoneshard has really esoteric stuff like crossfading drugs, alcohol poisoning, and health mechanics - yet simple fantasy stuff like buying a horse, radiant dialogue, character creation are either barely functional or nonexistant. Thank you for the comment!
Yeah....I'm moving on. Mirthwood is coming out sometime this year. I can wait for that and have no qualms forgetting about an unfinished game the devs have abandoned.
Perhaps I'm too fresh (I pledged 15 pounds years ago when the kickstarter started, which is less than I spend on food a day sometimes) I just returned to the game recently and I'm having a blast so far. I can't get enough of the pretty graphics and the combat and the looting. Will it get old eventually? Surely will, but even in it's still incomplete state, I would say I had my money worth so far, and I believe I will see more content to enjoy. Not sure I understand all your criticism. Especially people who call it a scam.
why i have the feeling, the editor cuts himself xD . anyways thanks for the info, i was looking for something like that. like a review of the game about a year.
comment 3 .. 30 mins into this video im starting to wonder how many things have been cut that we never even seen as apposed to the verbal ques to cut that havent been cut thankfully mind you i love them
i just seen your channel from this video cause i wanted to see what the updates have been and tho ... to be honest i dont think i care anymore about what i originally opened the video but now im completely entertained in general ... im not really sure why tho but works for me i guess
Thanks for the info, i was looking to buy it and contribute with devs, but after your precious video and after search info by myself, they were more than baked and the actual deep of the game does not concur with the time they're taking to develop it.. i would be ashamed of having so much bakers and people supporting my job but not finish it.
Great review! It is irksome that the timeline for development has taken this long. And then im reminded they live out of russia/ukraine. Putin you jerk!
Not sure if you mean overall or the caravan update. Part 4 dropped yesterday, but currently in game we're up to meeting verren's friend he mentions in the intro.
:)
I'm impressed you were able to stretch Stoneshard news out for 42 minutes. Nice moves.
At least half of it is talking about other games 😅 I love it
I feel you 💯
I wish this game was more like Zero Sievert, dev wise.

Yeah nothing like buying a game and getting two years of devlogs with no actual updates. Last early access scam I invest in

Cut that
dude finish a sentence already youve been yapping about the game yet you barely mentioned anything useful
It seems I took an extremely long time to convey information that could be told to the viewer in a few minutes
keep it down will ya? some of us enjoy the yapping.
