@@kingdomthingstnt spray on the front. Clear, white & clear once more. Spraying the back will do nothing bc its the protective backing paper & not the warerslide. That's why it's mirrored. I was so confused until I actually got some waterslide to practice with & now I totally get it!
Girl you just changed my whole life with the backwards waterslide. Mirroring it then sliding the backing like that, genius. I've had the hardest time with waterslides and i think this is going to solve my problem, going to try it right now lol. AND! thank you for all the tips and tutorials on your channel. I love it!
If you use the waterslide the "wrong" way round, you aren't getting the adhesive that's between the film layer and the backing paper. That's why it seems to slide better. The downside is you have no adhesive under the slide.
Wow, thanks Courtney. I watched this once before, but I forgot. I tried clear waterslide on a black surface, and saw nothing. So I revisited this video, and now i know what you are talking about.
I have never seen somebody put a waterslide on in reverse. It looks so much easier thank you so much for demonstrating I love keeping up with your videos

just did my first tumbler wrap like you said and worked great. full tumbler wrap but I tore the top edge off pulling on it but other than that came out great. thanks for all the great videos.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this video.!!!! I have been getting printable vinyl because I have a lot of clear water slide & couldn’t figure out how to use it on dark cups.!!!
So.. i had the same problem with my cricut not calibrating. Here's what i did, and it fixed it! Turn off machine. Unplug from Behind machine. Hold down the load button AND plug back in at same time. The power button should be flashing red. Go into design space. Click on the 3 lines in upper left. Go to firmware. Then do a calibration! Hope it helps! Love you're videos!
Holy cow I’m beyond excited I’m not crazy for wanting to use dark tumblers. I have extra and want to repurpose them. This video just saved me time and money. Thank you!!!!!!
Well that’s a game changer. I wasn’t sure how to put a water slide on a dark cup because it wouldn’t show up. This is a great tip and I’m definitely trying it as I have two dark cups and I can’t think what to do with them.
Thank you so much. I was trying to apply a clear waterslide on a black cup and it just disappeared. Now I know I have to paint the waterslide white first.
I ran across this video while looking for a tutorial to help figure out how to seal a waterside, n found this video that helped with another problem I needed answers to. 😆 thank you for your help and I love ur video VERY helpful and I'll be watching all your video today. I already subscribed to your channel. Stay blessed
If you are going to resin your tumblers anyway you really need to buy yourself an airbrushing system from harbor freight. I have been using mine for almost 30 years I paid 40 dollars for the little compressor and the brushing I get every year. That allows me to use the 50-cent paints from Walmart. I use it right in my room no problem water base paints no fumes.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have been struggling with my cricut cutting as well! It's so bad, I upgraded to a maker that' also doesn't work 🤣. I cannot wait to try this tomorrow!
Hi, I recently started taking an interest in tumbler making and I love your channel. I've been watching some of your other videos and was wondering what it is you have your cups on when you're decorating them. They look really secure when you're glittering and when you stand it up on your work table.
Love your tutorial 👍🏼💕. Keep up with your videos. I have a Cricut too and I know the trouble it gives when cutting with guide lines and after a update. 😕
You have no idea the change you made in my life with this mirrored waterslide trick! the number of hours and papers, ink, all wasted with placement... argh... it was driving me nuts; it was totally discouraging me from using waterslide in general. I'm definitely giving it a try. I still can't wrap my brain around the whole spraying white... even after reading the comments, but I'll try anyway. Thanks for the tips. I definitely subscribed after that tip!
You go girl! I have been watching your tutorials for a long time know & I have seen you put sooooo many waterslides on cups & I still don't understand how you put spray paint over your image and the image still shows on top but it always does......🤯🤯🤯🤪👏👏👏👏💕

Hopefully I can help I don’t know if anyone has commented for this already but if recalibrating over and over doesn’t work as it didnt for me a couple times it could be that Cricut is stubborn with material sizes. I had a letter size image and it cut after calibrating no problems then I tried a 4x6 and nope it was not having it. I realized Cricut had it still set at letter size where as my printer had it correct. There is a glitch in some print and cut projects where Cricut will not let you change the material size. I watched many videos and eventually I seen a lady keep the black box for Cricut to register and print it on a letter size and then put the 4x6 inside of it and it cut perfect. Worth it for very intricate prints that you can’t just do by hand but easier ones I bite the bullet and do by hand aswell. , I hope I could help a little bit, making tumblers has its tedious processes.
Hi. Loved your video- opened up a whole new world. How does water slide compare to sublimation? Is it as durable? Dishwasher/Microwave safe? I've shied away from sublimating mugs & cups because I see so many people having problems. I've concentrated my business on tee shirts , hoodies & bags, now I'm reconsidering.
Close your cricut lid or turn the lights out… I’d be willing to bet that fixes your cutting issue! Kept happening to me until I learned the lights throw a shadow which ruins the cuts!! Than you got this awesome video!
Thanks for this video. I’m about to make a tumbler for my son and although I’ve done the masking exactly like you did, I didn’t think of flattening the image on a shape that matched the paint!
I have the same issue with my cricut explore air 2.....no matter how much I calibrate it, it just never cut 100% accurate with Print and cut.... but cuts vinyl great..... thinking of getting a cameo 4 but I love ur Video thou.....super easy with u
I also had the same issue with my cricut not cutting accurate with print then cut.. What I did to fix the problem was took a lamp that flexes and moves and pointed the lamp head right in the center of the cricut, calibrat wit the lamp on, and always use the lamp when cutting. The issue is laughing and the cricut not being able to accurately see the lines, the lamp fixed that for me! Hope it can help you also!

Does the backwards application technique work on laser printed waterslide? I'm assuming this is with an inkjet printer. Sorry if that was already mentioned in the video. Also, once the waterslide is spray painted white, does the waterslide become less "flexible"? I know these are being applied to a wide tumbler surface, but what if you want to wrap the decal around a pen? Would the dried spray paint make it more stiff, and keep it from wrapping nicely?
I love watching your videos and the cup looks awesome!!!! Just to make sure I'm understanding this correctly....you mirrow the image for the waterslide, spray once with clear sealant, then sprayed with white matte spray paint then sealant it one more time with the clear sealant?
The white paint gives the clear water slide a bright background to stand out against the black cup
You mentioned the House Pocus tutorial. I want to watch it but cannot find it. Can you please give me a link.
