I think the SN95 Cobras are gonna become real collector cars in the years to come. Everyone wants a 93 and the prices have become astronomical…meanwhile the 94-95 has the exact same motor/trans ,rides slightly better than the Foxbody and can be had for very reasonable prices today. I had a ‘95 Mustang Cobra convertible. Got when I was 17. Paid for myself except insurance was as much as car payment. Lol. So many awesome memories. Ridiculous what the performance was compared to now but man it was great.
I once was the very proud owner of a 94 Cobra Mustang coupe (non-pace car) white on black leather (with a manual). I found mine used with seven hundred and sixty some miles on it back in 96/97. So it was basically a new (used) car at the time. Great memories. Wish I still had it, of course. Thanks Fluffy and Jay.
Sounds like mine. Got a 95 Cobra white on black leather. Bought it in 2001 and still have it to this day. Stays in the garage and I bring it out in nice weather.
Love that car! I wish you all good luck and fortune. Rio Red is so bright, it turns heads. When I purchased my pace car, I also received a Ford certificate saying that I had purchased #917 of a 1000 car run. This car is fun to drive. I had a dyno tune and a Borla cat back exhaust, and new tires and wheels. Enjoy your ride.
The 302 V8 in this car started out life all the way back in 1962 as the 221 which was used in the 1962 Ford Fairlane 500. Ended up getting bored out to 260 and 289 cubic inches for the Ford Falcon and Ford Mustang. In 1968, it was bored out to 302 cubic inches which basically remained unchanged until 2001. The Ford 221/260/289/302 along with the Ford 240/300 inline 6 are easily the most reliable engines that Ford ever made.
As an SN-95 owner I appreciate this. I worked on a 94 pace car a couple years ago with 300 original miles. Compared to my 98 stroked 4 valve swapped GT I was impressed by the Cobra dispite the lower HP versus a 4V those things can still stick & move.
Beautiful car. I once owned a 1977 Mustang II 302 V8 Spring Wheels edition. 4-speed stick, Fast Back, Front Spoiler, Brushed aluminum dash and center console. Rear-side window fins Metallic Sky Blue. I cut off the catalytic converter and put semi-quiet glass packs and side pipes coming out just in front of the rear wheels. I had custom rims with knock-off spinners for summer driving. Loved that car.
Wow. This is very similar to what I've done. I was 16 in 2003 and the '03 Cobra was THE car I wanted. I could actually afford one later in life and in 2017 got an '03 Cobra with 41k miles on it. Still have it and still love it.
I bought one new at 19 after joining the Marines. 2003 triple black convertible, one of my all time favorite cars but a semi rear ended it and the dealership I worked at the time tried to get it straight but it kept sagging along the rocker and the insurance eventually totaled it.
Graduated highschool in 03 when the terminator came out, and you weren't kidding, it was THE car to own at the time... Ended up getting mine in 09 after getting out of college and still own it till this day. Got a few videos of it on my page. Thing still is impressive and a bargain of a sports car now in 2024.
After losing my '87 LX 5-liter to an old lady in a Buick, I searched fir a' 94-95 convertible. I would have *loved* a pace-car edition, but knew I wanted to modify whatever I got, so I ended up getting a '95 GT, red/Grey interior/black top. Owned since 2006, it has a list of mods a mile long including a supercharger, Cobra brakes, lowered suspension and more. At 50K miles it has a few more than this one. :) I'm happy to see Fluffy with this one, intending to keep it as-is, and planning to enjoy it. Cars are meant to be driven!
I bought an '89 5.0 Mustang new in December 1988 and proceeded to put a quarter million miles on it over the next dozen years or so. The car was absolutely bulletproof. I beat snot - err, I mean I drove it in the manner it which was originally intended - and when I sold it eventually years later (to a shop who restores that era Mustangs), it still had never been apart, including the original clutch. It's still the only non-Mopar I'd love to have another one of, 60+ years later. - Ed on the Ridge
I'm glad Fluffy gets to enjoy the car. I remember picking up my new Jeep with only 9 miles on it, and I have every intention of driving it to test out the unlimited warranty I got on it. I had it off-road before 100 miles on the odometer, and I've already got almost 120,000 on it after just a few years.
I own the same car (but it's a 1998 hardtop), I got a new K- member and swapped the v6 for my built, carbureted 350 Chevy, and used the original T5 trans with upgraded clutch . Super fast and gets +/- 30mpg highway
One of the best segments ever. Very nice sincere dialogue, nothing pretentious. 2 very talented guys that chose a career path of making people happy. Best medicine in the world, happiness !
1994 was the year I graduated college. I remember the years after really wanting one of these Cobras, but could not afford one either. A friend had a triple black convertible, a '97 I think, which I thought was the coolest car. Way better (to me) than the Camaro and Firebird of the day.
Yes! Putting miles on them is what it's all about! I was just as excited when I got my Road King...it had been kept in a climate controlled garage & rarely ridden... milage wasn't 12, but it was low for a 20 year old bike...it was in like new condition...it still looks really good & it's still a low mileage classic, but it keeps going up because I like riding it, but that's the enjoyment of having them...very nice car!
I went to see fluffy in Fairfax, VA in the tail end of 2021, and the experience literally changed my life. Within a year I ended up moving half way across the country and decided to get out into the world. So thank you fluffy. You change lives ❤
My High school girlfriend's mom bought a red convertible Mustang, just like this one. Only it was a regular one with an automatic and a black interior. I got to ride in it once. This is my favorite generation of Mustang. This is a great episode. Thank you.
I used to work at a Ford dealership back in the day when this generation was new. And there was a big difference driving experience between the regular V6 Mustang and the V8 GT. So much so that everyone one of my coworkers would all come to the same conclusion in saying that they would never buy the V6 Mustang. That old V6 engine was gutless and soulless.
I have been watching you Jay Leno for over 15 years Watching you drive so many classic V8 Engines. Your Awesome my freind you remind me of my grandfather he own a Chevy dealership for over 60 years in our family. I have drove alot of Classic camaros in my day. The newest one in the best 1 I drove was a 1990 Camaro, IROC Some collector had it and sold it to my grandfather. It had a 194 miles on it. It was in climate storage. The only thing that needed to be done was gas tank needed to be dropped. New shocks and tires and new spark plug wires and coil packs were replaced.. Along with a complete overhaul with fluids other than that. The car drove beautifully for an automatic transmission.
My grandad was a Ford salesman and because he was very successful he could pretty much get any car he wanted in any spec. Every summer he would get a couple of Mustangs like this one and I remember going for an ice cream with him. It was really a great feeling driving with the top down in a beautiful summer day with the roar of the engine and just enjoying a carefree life. I never had a convertible myself because of the climate I live in now but I miss it. A panoramic sunroof doesn't come close to the feeling of driving around with an open top. I highly recommend it to anyone who lives in a sunny place.
The best videos here after the antiques are cars like these (like new or otherwise) that are the nicer trims or limited run models, but still not super cars that most people had on their walls instead of in their garages. Kind of sad that it was locked away in a collection for all that time, glad to see he's driving it and enjoying the car like it should be. I really wish the people coming up now getting money had the same genuine love and humbleness that Jay does (and Fluffy) when it comes to cars. A lot of content makers of car stuff now rapidly go from obtainable to interesting cars/builds straight to super cars and high cost custom machining.
This car with the 96-98 Cobra hood with the “snake pits” is pure beauty. The 94-98 Cobra was my first love as a kid getting into cars. I have honestly debated selling my 04 Cobra for a black supercharged 94-98 Cobra Coupe.
@@jason3280 Honestly, the sound of a 2V is way better than any 4V out there. They have that hollow throaty sound that cannot be replicated. I’ve always said my 02 GT sounded way better than my 04 Cobra.
My friend had a brand new 94 cobra in high school. Black with black top and tan and black interior. Like fluffy said he had the Alpine and 2 10 inch subs In the back. Couldn’t nobody tell us nothing. To be 16 again
In 94 I had a 83 Firebird with 2 15's bouncing off the back window and a 383 stroker Chevy motor if you want to see it doing burnouts with a 70 Challenger?
I know it's not the most desirable generation mustang but they are my favorite. I guess it's because they were so unattainable as a new car as a kid that now seeing them takes me back to my childhood.
I had a 95GT. Did a 3:55 rear gear, mid-pipe cat delete, shorty headers, flowmaster 40s, underdrive pullies, CAI, mail order chip. Ran a 14.4 at St Louis dragway (now called "World Wide Technology Raceway"). I miss that car!
Hey fluffy I can relate to the sound system . It would have two 15inch subs in parallel with a big Alpine amp bridged mono … LOL. Bringing back the memories
had a 98 SVT black on black hard top I bought used from Galpin once, first time getting in and hitting the throttle was a gitty feeling, the regional rep held it for a week getting it dialed in before I could pick it up, he seemed to know what he was doing, at higher speeds the stability and braking were confidence inspiring as they say. This one looks classy though as doesn't have the faux hood scoops nor sit as low as the 98.
For those that want to know the differences between GT and Cobra 5.0 engines. Crane 1.7 ratio rockers, GT40 iron cylinder heads, Cobra specific intake manifold, Cobra specific camshaft, lightened flywheel, slightly underdriven pulleys, Cobra specific exhaust manifolds and an oil cooler. The heads are the most significant improvement over a standard 5.0 with E7 heads. Now you know
Very cool! We have a same color sceam convertible 06 gt mustang with really low miles that belonged to my deceased father in the family and it totally reminds me of this.
They didn't break in the cam properly? If it chewed up the lifters they might as well replace the engine cuz all the metal shavings got to the bearing and cylinder walls, everywhere!
I graduated in 1973 . Heart had their first big hit back then.. 70 was the best year for VW beetle. Dual port heads were an option. Holley bugspray 300 cm was the best carberator. 019 distributor with the blue coil. Thunderbird exaust superior steering foam grip wheel. best wheels were 14 by 6 with pirrelli tires and Corbeau seats . The California look with lowered suspension and fiberglass flares. big front swaybar. the car handled like a Porshe.

Awesomeness car and the natural chemistry between Jay and Gabriel is great. Like two best friends cruising town.
As an SN-95 owner I appreciate this. I worked on a 94 pace car a couple years ago with 300 original miles. Compared to my 98 stroked 4 valve swapped GT I was impressed by the Cobra dispite the lower HP versus a 4V those things can still stick & move.
My 96 4v cobra was a beast with 4.30 gears, intake, x-pipe and a tune. It screamed at the top end but around town felt wimpy under 4k rpm.
Terrific to see these guys together, must have been a fun time. I especially love that he is driving his dream car. Great episode.
Just like it was in 1994.
It is nice to see Gabriel having a good time and enjoying all his hard work. Love you Gabriel.

@@6sillygtivr one of the best sounding cars to ever be made.
Always liked the SVTs from this era, especially the hard top. Good job Fluffy

I bought an '89 5.0 Mustang new in December 1988 and proceeded to put a quarter million miles on it
over the next dozen years or so. The car was absolutely bulletproof. I beat snot - err, I mean I drove it in
the manner it which was originally intended - and when I sold it eventually years later (to a shop who
restores that era Mustangs), it still had never been apart, including the original clutch.
It's still the only non-Mopar I'd love to have another one of, 60+ years later.

Jay leno and Gabriel had a heck of a day great friends 😊
Ed
This was the perfect episode. Two genuine car guys respecting and enjoying a great car,and just enjoying each other's company. Well done, gentlemen!
I own the same car (but it's a 1998 hardtop), I got a new K- member and swapped the v6 for my built, carbureted 350 Chevy, and used the original T5 trans with upgraded clutch . Super fast and gets +/- 30mpg highway

I love the DJ Quik tape in the center console. Fluffy knows whats up

The 5.0 was also put in the 95 gt and cobra. It wasn't until 96 that ford went to the 4.6
I went to see fluffy in Fairfax, VA in the tail end of 2021, and the experience literally changed my life. Within a year I ended up moving half way across the country and decided to get out into the world. So thank you fluffy. You change lives ❤
Jay and Fluffy. Incredible car. My middle son has a 2000 Mustang GT, with a rebuilt 4.6 liter, 5-speed,. It is a very fun car to drive.
I agree!!
Always loved the sound of 80's/90's mustangs. And what a true time capsule - very big thanks for sharing (I miss hearing that exhaust note).
302 definitely has one of the best exhaust notes, period!
Check my page for some cool classic car content.
All that car needs is a letter cam and a set of flowmaster exhaust and it will be the best sounding car from the 90s
Jason 😮
Congratulations on your new purchase. It's absolutely stunning.
Those cobras are awesome 5.0!!!
I wish Jay would have John Colletti on with a 2003 or 2004 Cobra. Nice episode though enjoyed it, glad it's being driven.
Jay you are so humble, I thank you for making this type of viewing possible. I only hope if ever to see you don’t look at me weird when im awe struck!
Fluffy is always fun, I’m not a ford guy but this one is super nice, wish you nothing but luck Fluffy - enjoy ❗️🇺🇸
The 03-04 Terminator is my dream car but the 89-94 mustangs with the 5.0 a cam and flowmaster's will forever be the best sounding cars of all time
@@jason3280 Honestly, the sound of a 2V is way better than any 4V out there. They have that hollow throaty sound that cannot be replicated. I’ve always said my 02 GT sounded way better than my 04 Cobra.
14:14 too funny, fluffy “ looking for a drive through “
My friend had a brand new 94 cobra in high school.
So Wise , Thank you . 2 fine comedians having fun
Beautiful and timeless car.
Man! Fluffy took me back. I graduated In 94', bought myself the straight 6 & candy apple red mustang. 94 to 97 was some great times.
The fact that Fluffy has a DJ Quick tape is pretty badass 🔥
Good show, very refreshing to see a young man thinking as an individual and not with a group
Jason 😮
Awesome example! I had a 98 cobra and a 99 GT, loved the SN95’s
This was awesome. Like riding around with two great friends just shooting the breeze.
Hi Brad

@@bradfromthevalley Were ya from ? Howdy 👋 from the states. What social media you got ?😰
I love the way cobras sound.... its wonderful
That Dj Quick tape just added to fluffys cool factor by 100 fold.
Nice to see people achieve their dreams.
That's right, his dream car ... Amazing to achieve
Now you know
Hi Ben 😮
Always Enjoyable watching Jay and Fluffy 😂👍
Happy Motoring ✌️🤠🍻🍻
What a beautiful song that SVT Cobra sings!
Burton 😮
My first Mustang GT was a '94.... Cool...🙂Had an '05 and then a '13 after that, all GTs. Loved them!
I graduated in 02, and it was the C5 corvette.. now at age 40 I got one. An 03 with 24k miles, bright red. Love it!
I have an 84 turbo convertible and my 2.3 puts out 300hp with only a few bolt one and a computer swap .
I have to admit that 302 sounds pretty good
Very cool! We have a same color sceam convertible 06 gt mustang with really low miles that belonged to my deceased father in the family and it totally reminds me of this.
Awesome. Love the SN95 Cobra.
I was able to buy a new '94 Mustang GT . . . was in the shop two weeks later, new lifters. But it was a good car.
Thunderbird exaust
superior steering foam grip wheel. best wheels were 14 by 6 with pirrelli tires and Corbeau seats . The California look with lowered suspension and fiberglass flares. big front swaybar. the car handled like a Porshe.
Thank you Mr. Leno for another amazing car review🙏🏽
