This is a super fun RC for the size. I went ahead and replaced the rear diff from the get-go. It's definitely a weak point. and went ahead and locked up the diffs got some really good Shorty 3S Lipo for it. Really wakes this little rocket up. I think they're 50 C will ride wheelies as long as you want to. Not to mention it is tough as hell.
Do this for teathering body clips. Buy yhe 4" zip ties. Threw the clios loop, and pull snug. Drill ahole for the zip tie to go threw. Cut the locking part off a zip tie. Put the end threw the hole, and slide the locking part on the zip tie. Poof a cheep teathred body clip. Thanks for theswitch for the lights! 👍👍👍
I haven't done RC cars in 40 years, but I recently bought 2 of these H16BM on Amazon USA. I like the cars, but the controllers aren't great. I'd like to upgrade to the Dumbo controller you are using, but I'm not sure how. Which model Dumbo do you recommend? You need a special cable for the light? What about the receiver--Do you need to change the ones in the cars? Thanks! I like your video.
Thanks, I appreciate your kind words! I recommend the Dumbo X6 transmitter with either an X6F or X6FG (gyro) receiver. The transmitter has no noticeable lag and has really long range. The receivers are excellent and easy to set up. The gyro is handy to have if you're running fast, especially on the street. To answer your question, yes, you would have to switch the receivers. Plug the servo into channel 1, the esc into channel 2, and the light into the light switch, then the switch into channel 3. Here is the Canadian link for the switch, I'm sure it's the same in the US: www.amazon.ca/dp/B08FLZXSD7?r... Lastly, plug the motor fan into channel 4. After you're all plugged in and the receiver stuck down with double-sided tape, turn on the transmitter and plug your battery in. Then, turn on the esc and the receiver will be blinking. There is a little button on the side of the receiver, push and hold with something that can fit inside and the receiver will blink with a solid green light and be bound to the transmitter. That's it! You'll be set to rip! If you want to set up the gyro, press the button quickly 3 times and the light color will change from green to yellow. The channel 6 dial on the top of the transmitter will control its sensitivity. If for some reason your wheels move in the opposite direction of your turn, press the little button 2 times quickly. That will set your wheels following the gyro properly. Hope this helped! Sorry it was a bit long-winded, lol. Please feel free to reach out again if you have any questions. Enjoy your RCs!
@@dougerc So I'm going to order a DUMBO transmitter with one receiver. For the reciever you recommend the X6FG (I want Gyro) and not the X4FMG? The H16BM comes with a 5 channel receiver, but only 4 channels are used. So I'm wondering which receiver to get. Also, I'm not seeing the X6FG, only the XDCG. Any advice would be appreciated.
I think you might be looking at the X4, or X4 receivers. The X6DCG is a gyro receiver with lighting connections. That one would be ok as well if you need the gyro.
I love mine, so far all we had to replace was a screw on the one steering arm that fell out, so now we learned to check that all the screws are tightened before takiing it out.
@@dougerc Oh, I forgot to mention, my 16209 spits body clips, I guess the H16BM does too as it is also the body clip style, so yes, one screw and quite a few body clips would have been lost if I did not make my own body clip tethers for them.
@@dougerc All you need to do is to order the clipless body mounts with the clipless body and swop them out with the clipped body's mounts and you're good to go! My 16209 eats body clips like mad every time I take it out so I am converting it to the clipless body style. I think the aluminium body mounts that take the body clips will destroy the body much faster by punching huge holes through the body where the body clip holes are, so the aluminium mounts might not break, but quite likely destroy the body.
Yes, absolutely! MJX has a store on Amazon and you can easily get parts on Ali Express. I actually just ordered aluminum body mounts from Amazon. There are lots of aluminum upgrades on Ali Express as well. 👍🏻
Another upside is that they are both 2S and 3S capable out of the box, also now there are so many made that all parts are freely available. I already have ordered in some spares like differentials in case they break. I serviced and greased the differentials and drivetrain before I took mine out, so I expect it to last longer than if I just took it out of the box and ran it, not knowing how well the drivetrain was lubricated from the factory. On the one we checked we found almost NO grease in the differentials, so we are glad we checked them before running it.
Mine will be here today, i ordered a set of 3rd party 3s Lipo but the more i look i think the 3s i ordered isnt going to fit. Oh well, ill send em back and get the factory ones.
I ordered a set of Sunpadow 3s batteries from Amazon, they fit perfectly! I think they are 1350 mah. I just had to buy Xt30 to deans adapters, or you could solder your own. I'll be doing a video on the batteries soon. Batteries: www.amazon.ca/dp/B08RYJCR2Y?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Adapters: www.amazon.ca/dp/B09NTG5XKL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Cheers!
I absolutely love it, I can get the Blomiky 3s to fit in the truck but I haven't ran it 3s yet, I'm scared I'll break it haha. I only drove it for about 5 minutes on 2s and I pushed the entire rear passenger section forward 1/16"....control arms, suspension, all of it lol but yea it's great
That isn't a knock off of anything. In the 16 scale world, there are only two trucks and a million brands who buy them. That's the Hyper Go which sells under at least 7 brand names, and counting. And the Redcat Volcano16. And it sells under all the rest. Hyper Go sells the whole truck, and Redcat sells roller kits. Hyper Go has two versions, the one you have and the one with a larger battery tray and a strap hold down, which they don't sell under their own name where they force your battery choices. That's it.

Amazing tether tip! Thank you! 🤝🏻
I'm glad that light switch helped you out! 👍🏻
Ive done exactly the same upgrade 😂 I believe they are a must have 😂

I have the same light module included with my MJX 14210 that has a Dumbo RC sold like that straight from Aliexpress.
That's perfect! No need to upgrade! 👌🏻

Yup, that's a good habit to get into for any RC you run!

Make sure not to tighten the steering arms to much or it will not turn the same both ways an slowly overpower the servo
That's a great tip! Thank you! 🤝🏻
Just get the clipless body of the first MJX series or the body of the MJX 16208?
If it fits, yes!

I ordered the Blomiky that come with a deans plug and after more research I may just be able to remove the tie down and use a strap or zip tie.
Perfect!

Thanks for the info! I was merely implying looks wise, its resemblance to others. It definitely is unique to itself.
