    Giving is a biblical principle. You CAN'T outgive God. It doesn't make sense in the worlds economy, but in God's economy, it comes back to you. Get into the bible & you can SEE IT put into motion. I'm living it. It's AMAZING & I give God ALL the glory.

    Great job. I love your authenticity. I was a single mama for seven years and also saved and paid off all my debt. It can be done. And I would like to say that during that time I started out making $17,000 and increased to $53,000 a year. I worked my tail off. I have saved about $54,000 and still helped my kids get through college. I got remarried a year ago but was able to do that before remarrying. Good luck to you. I’ll keep watching.

    I feel like my new hobby is budgeting and binging on budgeting videos to learn all I can. I’ve been working with my SIL on budgeting and getting out of debt. She was paying over $200 a month to a cell service provider and most of that was paying for her kids’ phones. Her oldest is 18 and has a job so we decided he would pay off his phone and get his own service. She got a Christmas bonus which she decided to use to pay off her daughter’s phone so she could cancel this overpriced service. She is now switching to Straight Talk for herself and her daughter which we determined would give them the best service for the best price. She’s literally saving $140 a month now which she is now applying to paying off debt. I’m so proud of her!!

    You're right about giving. I have been clearing out stuff and putting it on market place for FREE, just because I want it out of the house quickly (minimalism ranks slightly higher at the moment for me as decluttering is reducing my anxiety so much!) My husband was slightly annoyed I wasn't selling it all but I carried on my way. Anyway, another project I'm working on is my kitchen garden - again self prescription for anxiety - I went to collect x1 strawberry plant someone was giving away and came home with x3! That was exciting in itself as it saved me £30 I was already planning to spend, but then the lady also found me x3 other plants, some excess produce from her own kitchen garden and an oversized plant pot ideal for growing potatoes in next year!
    Anyway I am writing this post to emphasise the merit of GIVING, spreading love and kindness around the world, without expecting anything back has it's rewards. There's big reward in that feeling when you have helped someone out, but sometimes it comes back around too.
    Thank you for GIVING us these videos Kate.

    I've always bought used cars and haven't had a car payment in 11 years! Yep, my car is 13 years old now, and I'm still driving it and will continue to until the car gives up the ghost. Last month I cut my groceries by 50%! I make almost everything from scratch. Buying Clothes was always a problem for me but I've cut way back on that by simply staying out of the stores. Amazon is a big temptation for me still, but I'm getting better. I still have some work to do on paying off a couple of bills and I've got a great budget that's keeping me on track. I'd like to see a video on "Every Dollar". Thanks for sharing.

    Kate, I LOVE your videos. I totally agree paying attention to your grocery budget and using (having a meal plan) everything you buy at the grocery store is crucial to success. However, I have found that if we stick to a strictly bare bones budget at the grocery store for too long, we get very bored and want to go out to eat. For us, it is better to buy slightly more expensive protein sources (so that we have more variety). It keeps us from craving restaurant food. I have even learned to cook some of our favorite Mexican and Indian dishes :)

    Dave Ramsey: yes! I 'm really old & I cannot go back in time to build as much as I could have saved but, to help others learn from my mistakes, I give the Total Money Maker Over away every month. I teach adults & there is always someone interested in the frugal life. In fact, one of my co workers (a lot younger than me) is so excited about the TOTAL Money Makeover, that she cant stop telling others. Another employee asked me about the book & I gave her one too.

      Ibislife I struggle with this one, I.e. buying vs renting. I bought right before the housing market bust. I’m 10 years in and still 25k underwater. I am also a single mom. I bought a townhouse, which is great because everything outside, including roof, sewage, landscaping and snow shoveling is done. But, it comes at a cost of $350 a month, But they just redid our roof, which is a huge expense. I also live in NY but made sure the mortgage was considerably less than what the bank was eager to lend me. It’s still a struggle, and the new tax laws just made it harder. If I had it all to do again I’m not sure I would have bought...

      Buying is not always the way to save money, beware of the market and interest rate. It's best not to have a mortgage.

Many years ago before I got married (I'm widowed now) and had my children, Iwas an admin. assit. and could barely afford myself, and I lived frugally, on my own, in a studio apartment. If you are a single woman and travel alone in rural areas having a new car is extremely important in this day and age for safety reasons.I’ve bought and paid off several cars, but get very uneasy as they are older cars and less dependable by the time they are paid off. I will lease my next car as I never again want a car over 3 years old. I’ll just downsize my car.
    I love being frugal, but I also love being safer.

    Tithing or at least giving to needy - definitely increases your financial situation - it’s fact . I also want to throw out there that a person really has to start buying their home by the time your ‘32’ . Usually home loans are 30 years and U need to pay it off by the time U retire .
    It saddens me to see foreclosures especially when a person has been in their homes for years . Your HOME can make MONEY for U .
    U can always ‘ rent out a room ‘ or even a floor of your home to make extra cash . Just renting out your garage for some ones old car storage or renting out a pole barn is extra money . Buying your own home has valuable advantages .

    hey ! this video is my favourite one out of all videos on your channel ! i totally agree with you i have been practicing frugality since 1 year and i found it amazing , i stopped purchasing useless stuff , for the first time i was able to own 10 notes of 5000 (in my currency) with me i used to just let that money go wherever capitalism traps me (ads, that banners in the mall etc)used to urge me to spend it but as i started to save money i realised , managing money nicely is more important than a high paying job , i just believe in spending less to get more , i ride bike to get here and there , i started to only have trips if they are 100% worth it , every penny you spend should be worth it and you should enjoy if you go out and spend is what i have in my mind , thx kate your videos are also motivating and informative , i follow the cash envelope system and what have i realised that being frugal is not being miser , it is to spend on things you need actually & to not get into trap of capitalism and just not spend on unnecessary things , now i lost my desire for expensive clothes and just some collectibles etc & concentrate on saving more & more money and to get best life experience using less money ! your videos too help a lot !

    New viewer here! Loved the two videos I’ve watched so far. Last month I made a stupid mistake that I continuously beat myself up over.... I left one of my banks after making a large withdrawal and placing it in my wallet. I didn’t realize until the very next day that I had actually lost my wallet which contained close to $4k... I was beyond mortified. I do believe it must have fallen out of my sweat jacket here at my condo complex garage (New Jersey) so I decided that I was going to go on a year long journey of trying to compensate for my stupidity and careless action. With all my ID in the wallet, a dishonest person obviously found it and probably needed it so there goes my donation to helping out someone in need. Last July I started leasing a 2019 VW Jetta, first time leaser too, and I just knew I made a mistake as soon as I got LOJACK on a leased vehicle! Trying again to compensate and turn something bad into something good I’ve decided to look into these money saving videos and I truly love your ideas... I’m a single mom of 3 fur babies and I am so happy I found your channel. I also follow Prepper Princess (minimalism)...

      Janice I am so glad you are here!!!! Oh man, $4k is a big punch! I feel like those kinds of things are often the smack in the face we need to make a few changes. (But like, really universe?? 4k?? LOL. ) But you've got the right idea now. Learning all you can making new decisions given new information that you have. This journey certainly has its ups and downs! Hope to see you on here again soon. Thanks for watching!

    • @KateKaden
      @KateKaden  4 года назад +3

      Hi Sherry! That is such a great question! If I were in your situation, this is what I would do. I'd create a "buffer fund". Not an emergency fund, but a buffer to cover my expenses when funds are kind of low. I'd do my very very best to set aside some extra in my checking so that if I didn't have any income that month, i'd be fine. Every paycheck, I'd add some to the buffer for the future. Could that work for you?

    When you say you paid off the lease do you mean you ended up buying the car or just paid it ahead? I also just got out of my last lease and bought a great used car. New cars lose their appeal fast. Then you’re stuck with a huge payment.

    • @KateKaden
      @KateKaden  5 лет назад

      I ended up buying the car:) Yeah I definitely don't recommend leases! Lesson learned for sure.

  • @nanmammabarkley8891

    I have just learned this hard lesson...no I am still learning this hard lesson! Do NOT WATCH videos of other people going out and spending money.... just because it’s a Dollar. You end up spending what you could have spent on the Food you really need. 20.00 of nix naks could have been food for a week or put in savings or better yet on your credit card you haven’t paid yet. Not saying it’s not good ...just maybe it’s a want not a need right now.
